• How do I access a git repository on a samba share?

  I have a Samba share set up that I'd like to put a git repository on. I've tried searching google for the best way to use git on a Samba share, but it seems difficult to find anything on doing this as Samba uses git for development. What is the best way to do this? Right now, I'm just working with Linux, but it would be nice to know how to do this in a cross-platform manner as well.

• Windows 7 CMD.exe jumplist possible?

  It seems CMD does not have it's own jumplist.Has someone created one already? If I were trolling IP's port 80 on and I came across such a page I'd know it to be a high value target in the sense that if I can crack it, I can take control of the server to some extent (potentially installing another OS). • usb_modeswitch not switching

  After I upgraded from kernel 2.6.18 to 3.5.3 modeswitch started not to work for me. Although lsusb shows my usb modem, usb_modeswitch does not switch it. My system information is like below. I ran lsusb, dmesg, usb-devices and usb_modeswitch their output is like below. usb_modeswitch instead of switching my modem it says "No devices in default mode found. Nothing to do. Bye.". • Migrate data from one server to another using rsync

  I'm moving from one VPS to another, and I figured that the simplest way to transfer data would be rsync. However, the data is owned by a user, www-data, which doesn't have ssh privileges, and I'd like it to be owned by the same (named) user on the target machine. Obviously I need all file permissions preserved. I have SSH access via another user with sudo privileges on both machines. Is this possible to do this with rsync?

  I'm setting up an ASA 5505 where the ISP provides a dynamic IP address (rarely changes.) I would like to start using some of the services provided by DynDNS such as Custom DNS. I've come across some information regarding Cisco Routers and DynDNS, but nothing definitive on the ASA platform. My question is whether I can configure the ASA5505 to update the IP address rather than install the DynDNS Updater software on a machine running on the LAN? Thanks

• On demand upload server

  I'm looking for a simple application which will do something like Allow user to sign up for an ftp account -> ask admin for approval -> create ftp account for that user now it doesn't have to be FTP, in fact I would be happy with a web based tool which supported upload via some sort of java applet or something similar.   Somehow I went to open a shortcut and windows couldn't find the target but instead of pointing the shortcut to the exe it pointed the lnk file handler to the exe, so now all my lnk files are trying to be opened by the borderlands game. WTF? I'm guessing I can do it by resetting the .lnk entry in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, but I don't know what to set it to.
