  • WNetAddConnection2 in Windows 7 with Impersonation and no Error Code

    I'm doing some crazy impersonation stuff to get around UAC dialogs in Windows 7 so the user does not have to interact with the UI (I have the admin creds of course). I have a process running as the Administrator and elevated past UAC. The issue that I'm facing is that when I make a call to WNetAddConnection2, within this process, I am not getting a new mapped net drive. The function returns ERROR_SUCCESS but no net drive is visible. We have another method of adding network drives using 'subst' but this, again, returns successful does does not add a net drive. I have tried to use the default user (which is the Administrator because of process's security context) and I have tried using specific user credentials. I can map the drive just fine through Explorer. Of course the same functionality works fine in XP/2003. I haven't got around to testing on Vista because of issues with impersonation that are limiting my ability to spin up the process. Are there unique Windows 7 limits on this function? MSDN does not glean any that I can find. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • How do I create a named temporary file on windows in Python?

    I've got a Python program that needs to create a named temporary file which will be opened and closed a couple times over the course of the program, and should be deleted when the program exits. Unfortunately, none of the options in tempfile seem to work: TemporaryFile doesn't have a visible name NamedTemporaryFile creates a file-like object. I just need a filename. I've tried closing the object it returns (after setting delete = False) but I get stream errors when I try to open the file later. SpooledTemporaryFile doesn't have a visible name mkstemp returns both the open file object and the name; it doesn't guarantee the file is deleted when the program exits mktemp returns the filename, but doesn't guarantee the file is deleted when the program exits I've tried using mktemp1 within a context manager, like so: def get_temp_file(suffix): class TempFile(object): def __init__(self): self.name = tempfile.mktemp(suffix = '.test') def __enter__(self): return self def __exit__(self, ex_type, ex_value, ex_tb): if os.path.exists(self.name): try: os.remove(self.name) except: print sys.exc_info() return TempFile() ... but that gives me a WindowsError(32, 'The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process'). The filename is used by a process my program spawns, and even though I ensure that process finishes before I exit, it seems to have a race condition out of my control. What's the best way of dealing with this? 1 I don't need to worry about security here; this is part of a testing module, so the most someone nefarious could do is cause our unit tests to spuriously fail. The horror!

  • Still confused about JavaScript's 'this'.

    I've been reading through quite a few articles on the 'this' keyword when using JavaScript objects and I'm still somewhat confused. I'm quite happy writing object orientated Javascript and I get around the 'this' issue by referring the full object path but I don't like the fact I still find 'this' confusing. I found a good answer here which helped me but I'm still not 100% sure. So, onto the example. The following script is linked from test.html with <script src="js/test.js"></script> if (!nick) { var nick = {}; } nick.lowman = function(){ var helloA = 'Hello A'; console.log('1.',this, this.helloA); var init = function(){ var helloB = 'Hello B'; console.log('2.',this, this.helloB); } return { init: init } }(); nick.lowman.init(); What kind of expected to see was 1. Object {} nick.lowman, 'Hello A' 2. Object {} init, 'Hello B' But what I get is this? 1. Window test.html, undefined 2. Object {} init, undefined I think I understand some of what's happening there but I would mind if someone out there explains it to me. Also, I'm not entirely sure why the first 'console.log' is being called at all? If I remove the call to the init function //nick.lowman.init() firebug still outputs 1. Window test.html, undefined. Why is that? Why does nick.lowman() get called by the window object when the html page loads? Many thanks

    Trying to hook into the function comment_text() supplied by Wordpress API to wrap the output of every comment into a <div>...</div> container I am running into the following problem: Without my added filter the output of comment_text() looks like this: <p>Hello User!</p> <p>Thank you for your comment.</p> <p>Stefan</p> Thats fine but as I said I would like to have it wrapped into a <div class="comment-text">...</div>. As far as I know the correct way doing this would be in adding a filter to functions.php of my theme and so I did: function stefan_wrap_comment_text($content) { return "<div class=\"comment-text\">". $content ."</div>"; } add_filter('comment_text', 'stefan_wrap_comment_text'); As I can see from the output the given filter works but it has a negative sideeffect to the first paragraph of the content as you can see in the following example.   • Implementing the outside application „openedFileView“ in c# Project

    I work on a application where i want to find out which files on my filesystem is used by a Process. After trying around with the System.Diagnostics.Process class, and didn´t get the resulst i wanted i find the application called OpenedFileView from Nirsoft. http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/opened_files_view.html Basically it does exactly what i want but i have some problems with the implimication in my project. The option wich “OpenedFileView” gives you is to start it with some arguments that it creates you an txt file with all the information i want. But for my case i want to whach the processes in realtime, and if i start the application repetitively i always have the hourglass at my mouse cursor. So after this i tryed some ways to get rid of it, tryed out to put it in a BackgroundWorker Thread. But this changed nothing at all. I also looked for a way to force the Process not to exit, and sending new arguments to it, but this also didn´t worked. So is there any way to use this application in the way I want, or does this didn´t work at all? I hope somebody can help me either with getting away this annoying mouse cursor hourglass, or with a better implimication of this application so i can use it in realtime!   • Databinding in WinForms performing async data import

    I have a scenario where I have a collection of objects bound to a datagrid in winforms. If a user drags and drops an item on to the grid, I need to add a placeholder row into the grid and kick off a lengthy async import process. I need to communicate the status of the async import process back to the UI, updating the row in the grid and have the UI remain responsive to allow the user to edit the other rows. What's the best practice for doing this? My current solution is: binding a thread safe implementation of BindingList to the grid, filled with the objects that are displayed as rows in the grid. When a user drags and drops an item on to the grid, I create a new object containing the sparse info obtained from the dropped item and add that to the BindingList, disabling the editing of that row. I then fire off a separate thread to do the import, passing it the newly bound object I have just created to fill with data. The import process, periodically sets the status of the object and fires an event which is subscribed to by the UI telling it to refresh the grid to see the new properties on the object. Should I be passing the same object that is bound to the grid to the import process thread to operate on, or should I be creating a copy and merging back the changes to the object on the UI thread using BeginInvoke? Any problems or advice with this implementation? Thanks

    I have heard perl is a good language at doing regex but i am a bit confused at the characters that requires escaping I tested the code on http://regexlib.com/RETester.aspx and got the result I want //home/dev/abc/code/hello/world.cpp#1 //home/dev/((.*?)/[^/]+).*# Match $1 $2 //home/dev/abc/code/hello/world.cpp# abc/code abc However, I am not quite sure how do i translate this to perl code I tried, \/\/home\/dev\/\(\(\.\*\?\)\/\[\^\/\]\+\)\.\*\# and \/\/home\/dev\/((.*?)\/[^\/]+).*\# and both failed Don't you think the escaping makes the regex very unreadable? Am i using something wrong?

While old files is being processed, new files can come in. For now, I use quartz scheduler and thread synchronization to ensure that only one thread can process files.   • Oracle rownum in db2 - Java data archiving

    I have a data archiving process in java that moves data between db2 and sybase. FYI - This is not done through any import/export process because there are several conditions on each table that are available on run-time and so this process is developed in java. Right now I have single DatabaseReader and DatabaseWriter defined for each source and destination combination so that data is moved in multiple threads. I guess I wanted to expand this further where I can have Multiple DatabaseReaders and Multiple DatabaseWriters defined for each source and destination combination. So, for example if the source data is about 100 rows and I defined 10 readers and 10 writer, each reader will read 10 rows and give them to the writer. I hope process will give me extreme performance depending on the resources available on the server [CPU, Memory etc]. But I guess the problem is these source tables do not have primary keys and it is extremely difficult to grab rows in multiple sets. Oracle provides rownum concept and i guess the life is much simpler there....but how about db2? How can I achieve this behavior with db2? Is there a way to say fetch first 10 records and then fetch next 10 records and so on? Any suggestions / ideas ? Db2 Version - DB2 v8.1.0.144 Fix Pack Num - 16 Linux

  • WCF InProcFactory error

    I'm using IDesign's ServiceModelEx assembly to provide additional functionality over and above what's available in standard WCF. In particular I'm making use of InProcFactory to host some WCF services within my process using Named Pipes. However, my process also declares a TCP endpoint in its configuration file, which I host and open when the process starts. At some later point, when I try to host a second instance of this service using the InProcFactory through the named pipe (from a different service in the same process), for some reason it picks up the TCP endpoint in the configuration file and tries to re-host this endpoint, which throws an exception as the TCP port is already in use from the first hosting.
