  Hi, I need a Javascript random number shuffler for my website. Seems simple, but I can not figure out how to do it. Can anyone help me out? I have the following array of numbers: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 I would like to be able to have these numbers shuffled randomly. Like the following: 3 6 4 2 9 5 1 8 7 or 4 1 7 3 5 9 2 6 8 So, specifically, I would like a function that takes in an array of numbers (1 - n) and then returns that same array of numbers - shuffled randomly with different calls to the function. Maybe a noob function, but can't seem to figure it out. Thanks! NOTE: Thanks for the clarification on "Shuffle". Have found a lot more online about this with that term.

• Javascript callback for multiple ajax calls

  My lack of javascript knowledge is getting me in trouble again. I think this should be a fairly easy problem to fix but I cant figure it out. Situation: I want to make three ajax calls in a click event. Each ajax call does a distinct operation and returns back data that is needed for a final callback. • C# Custom Dictionary Take - Convert Back From IEnumerable

  Scenario Having already read a post on this on the same site, which didn't work, I'm feeling a bit stumped but I'm sure I've done this before. I have a Dictionary. I want to take the first 200 values from the Dictionary. CODE Dictionary<int,SomeObject> oldDict = new Dictionary<int,SomeObject>(); //oldDict gets populated somewhere else. Dictionary<int,SomeObject> newDict = new Dictionary<int,SomeObject>(); newDict = oldDict.Take(200).ToDictionary(); OBVIOUSLY, the take returns an IENumerable, so you have to run ToDictionary() to convert it back to a dictionary of the same type. HOWEVER, it just doesn't work, it wants some random key selector thing - or something? I have even tried just casting it but to no avail. Any ideas?

  I am running the following command on unix box. java -Xms3800m -Xmx3800m org.apache.xalan.xslt.Process -out Cust.txt -in test13l.xml -xsl CustDetails.xsl It is a java command, which calls Xalan processor to parse through the xml file (test131.xml) using the xsl stylesheet (CustDetails.xsl) and returns Cust.txt. The command works fine and the output is generated. It takes 12 minutes to process an xml file size of 1.1 GB. It takes 22 minutes to process a file size of 1.44 GB. However, when I try to process a file size of 1.66 GB, it errors out with the following message: (Location of error unknown)XSLT Error (java.lang.OutOfMemoryError): null I have increased the java heap size to 3800 not sure what I can do more. • UnauthorizedAccessException cannot resolve Directory.GetFiles failure

  Hi all, Directory.GetFiles method fails on the first encounter with a folder it has no access rights to. The method throws an UnauthorizedAccessException (which can be caught) but by the time this is done, the method has already failed/terminated. The code I am using is listed below: try { // looks in stated directory and returns the path of all files found getFiles = Directory.GetFiles(@directoryToSearch, filetype, SearchOption.AllDirectories); } catch (UnauthorizedAccessException) { } As far as I am aware, there is no way to check beforehand whether a certain folder has access rights defined. In my example, I'm searching on a disk across a network and when I come across a root access only folder, my program fails. I have searched for a few days now for any sort of resolve, but this problem doesn't seem to be very prevalent on here or Google. I look forward to any suggestions you may have, Regards

• Retrieve a facebook page's type

  I am trying to display a list of pages similar to the facebook search results. Along with the page's name, I would like to display the page type. The page's type property (from the Pages.getInfo API call returns the rather unfriendly looking strings from this list: http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/Page_Types Is there any way to map these to or retrieve the actual type descriptions facebook uses for page types in the facebook search results? These are not only more presentable, but appear to be less granular (both good things for my purpose).

• Compiling zip component for PHP 5.2.11 in MAMP PRO

  Helo I installed MAMP PRO on my Macbook Pro (10.6) some time ago. Now I would like to use zip functions in php. I found that I must add zip.so to my extension folder and edited php.ini. On my computer I have two different versions of PHP one in MAMP folder and other in user/lib which was pre-installed on my system. Now I wish to compile my zip library for MAMP version. I got zip sources for my version of PHP then in terminal called function /Applications/MAMP/bin/php5/bin/phpize so it uses mamp php version ./configure make then I moved compile zip.so to extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613. When MAMP is launched it returns this error: [11-Apr-2010 16:33:27] PHP Warning: PHP Startup: zip: Unable to initialize module Module compiled with module API=20090626, debug=0, thread-safety=0 PHP compiled with module API=20060613, debug=0, thread-safety=0 These options need to match in Unknown on line 0 Can some body explain to me how to do this the right way.

  Hello I can't find any resources which can answer why I'm getting an error with this: oncomplete="#{MyBacking.oError ? #{rich:component('oErrorPanel')}.show() : return false;}" in a richfaces a4j:commandButton. oError is referring to a method in my bean called isOError. I'm getting the error SEVERE: Servlet.service() for servlet Faces Servlet threw exception org.apache.el.parser.ParseException: Encountered " "?" "? "" at line 1, column 30. Was expecting one of: "}" ... "." ... ... I want to say 'if a method returns true, show modal panel A otherwise false'. Any help much appreciated.

• Workaround for the Mono PrivateFontCollection.AddFontFile bug

  When I call the PrivateFontCollection.AddFontFile method in Mono.net It always returns a standard font-family. This bug has already been reported on several websites, but as far as I know without a way to solve it. The bug itself isn't fixed in the Mono-libraries yet. Is there any workaround for it? EDIT: As a reaction on henchman's answer I will post the code: PrivateFontCollection pfc = new PrivateFontCollection(); pfc.AddFontFile("myFontFamily.ttf"); myFontFamily = pfc.Families[0x00]; Font myFont = new Font(myFontFamily,14.0f); I know this code will work fine on the Microsoft.Net framework, but when executing on Mono, it just gives a standard font-family (I think it is Arial) with the name of myFontFamily.ttf

  I'm trying to find the TextBlock that is inside the control template of a comboBox. using VisualTreeHelpar.GetChildrenCount is working only if the comboBox is declared in XAML.In that case GetChildrenCount returns 1 and a recursive search is possible. However, if I declare the combo as a member of the Window class using code, allocated and setting it to its place, the function GetChildrenCount return 0. When I run snoop in this scenario It shows the combo children hierarchy. I want to be able to search the comboBox just as snoop does. • Capture Backspace , is this a OK solution?

  Hello, I having a hard time to capture the backspace button in a UITextView. I am trying to capture it in the method - (BOOL)textView:(UITextView *)textView shouldChangeTextInRange:(NSRange)range replacementText:(NSString *)text I thought it was ok to do like this. if([text isEqualToString:@"\b") { // code ... } But for some reason, when backspace is pressed 'text' is empty. I know I can compare lenght of the UITextView but it isnt what I want to achieve. So I found a solution to this. If I look at '[text lenght]' every key on the defaultkeyboard returns 0 . Every key excepts the backspace wich is 0. In that way i know when backspace is pressed. I do this check. if([text lenght] == 0) { // BACKSPACE PRESSED   } What is your opinion about this? -or can I do it in a better way? Regards. - Martin

  Currently debugging, and found an if-statement which for no (I thought...) reason gave me an NPE, obviously for a reason. Which seemed to be that the statement turned out to be if(false && (null != null || null != Color)). if(destination != null && (destination.getPiece() != null || destination.getPiece().getColour() != pieceColour)) - the if-statement Both destination can be null and piece can be. The getColour() method returns an attribute of type Color from piece, which must be null if the piece is null. The piece at destination has a different pieceColour attribute then the one in the if-statement. Specifically, how do I re-arrange (destination.getPiece() != null) ?

• How can I extract URLs from plain text with Perl?

  I need the Perl regex to parse plain text input and convert all links to valid HTML HREF links. I've tried 10 different versions I found on the web but none of them seen to work correctly. I also tested other solutions posted on StackOverflow, none of which seem to work. The correct solution should be able to find any URL in the plain text input and convert it to: <a href="$1">$1</a> Some cases other regular expressions I tried didn't handle correctly include: URLs at the end of a line which are followed by returns URLs that included question marks URLs that start with 'https' I'm hoping that another Perl guy out there will already have a regular expression they are using for this that they can share. • Linq to sql add/update in different methods with different datacontexts

  I have to methods, Add() and Update() which both create a datacontext and returns the object created/updated. In my unit test I call first Add(), do some stuff and then call Update(). The problem is that Update() fails with the exception: System.Data.Linq.DuplicateKeyException: Cannot add an entity with a key that is already in use.. I understand the issue but want to know what to do about it? I've read a bit about how to handle multiple datacontext objects and from what I've heard this way is OK. I understand that the entity is still attached to the datacontext in Add() but I need to find out how to solve this? Thanks in advance

• Error calling webservice using JSONP + jquery with IE on remote domain

  I have a .Net webservice on my app server that returns data formatted as JSONP. I have an HTML test client on that server which works fine using IE, Firefox, & Chrome. If I copy the same HTML to my workstation or deploy to my webserver it works with Firefox & Chrome but in IE I'm getting two javascript errors. • amCharts issue with Flex

  HI I am working with amCharts at the moment and was wondering if somebody could give me some sort of guidance on the matter. I am using Flex to call a server side php file which then returns some xml data. This works perfectly and efficiently. I then add this data to the chart will also works quite well. However as I try to use the scroll bar on the chart, it seems to zoom out and delete all my data. I cant figure this out at all. The same thing happens when i click the show all button.

• How do I serve nested static content on Heroku?

  I have a rails application with static content in the public directory (e.g. public/index.html) and additional static content in nested subdirectories (e.g. public/one/two/index.html). All the static content is served correctly if I run it locally via script/server but when I upload it to Heroku the top-level page loads correctly but the nested content returns a 404. I've found a number of resources (for example this question) which discuss static content in rails but they all seem to assume a fairly simple structure with a single directory containing all the files. Is there any way I can fix this?

• CLLocation is not nil but trying to print it out throws EXC_BAD_ACCESS

  Sorry, this may be a noob question but I'm working with CoreLocation and this has be stumped. I'm looking up the currentLocation using a singleton that was recommended on this site and when I get the currentLocation object, it returns true to a not nil check. However, when I try to print out its description, it throws EXC_BAD_ACCESS. //WORKS Current location 8.6602e-290 NSLog(@"Current location %g",currLoc); //DOESN'T WORK NSLog(@"Current location %@",[currLoc description]); //DOESN'T WORK - Is this causing the description to fail as well? NSLog(@"Current location %g",currLoc.coordinate.latitude); Why am I able to see something on the first one but not the others? BTW, this is being run on a 3.1.2 simulator Thanks.

  In django I have the following tables and am trying to count the number of votes by item. class Votes(models.Model): user = models.ForeignKey(User) item = models.ForeignKey(Item) class Item(models.Model): name = models.CharField() description = models.TextField() I have the following queryset queryset = Votes.objects.values('item__name').annotate(Count('item')) that returns a list with item name and view count but not the item object. How can I set it up so that the object is returned instead of just the string value? I have been messing around with Manager and Queryset methods, that the right track? To that effect, I am trying to find an algorithm that can be used for the said purpose. For example, given - - a -, the algorithm will search a dictionary for all the words which have length 4 and have 'a' as the third letter. Is there such an algorithm already? • Why can I not register a PropertyEditor for String in Spring MVC?

  I'm using Spring 3.0.3. I've enabled the default ConversionService by adding this line to my Spring configuration XML. <mvc:annotation-driven/> I'm also using custom PropertyEditor's for certain data types, so I've registered them for corresponding data types like the following and they work fine. webDataBinder.registerCustomEditor(Date.class, new MyPropertyEditor()); I have a custom tag library that extends Spring's Form tag library, and I can acess these PropertyEditor's through getPropertyEditor() of AbstractDataBoundFormElementTag. What I don't understand is that I can't register a custom PropertyEditor for String for some reason. The following wouldn't work. webDataBinder.registerCustomEditor(String.class, new MyPropertyEditor()); When I do getPropertyEditor(), it always returns a ConvertingPropertyEditorAdapter, instead of MyPropertyEditor. Is this a bug? EDIT: I realized that I didn't do some stuff right. Spring works just fine.

  Hi-- I'm usually a PHP guy but got stuck doing a project in vb.net. I have a query (sqldatasource) that returns a single value (the last update date). I want to use a label to say something like "Last updated: " < Label = (returned value) In PHP this would be simple. In vb.net, all I can find are endless badly written code behinds showing how you'd execute the query onLoad then bind it to the label. Is this really the only way to do this? It seems like a ridiculously simple problem to have such a long solution. I have used a datagrid control to just bind the query result directly, but it prints the column name as well as the date, so it's not ideal. Any ideas?

• Get children count via HQL

  Hi, I have a one-to-many mapping between a parent entity and child entities. Now I need to find the number of children associated with each parent for a list of parents. I am trying to do this with HQL but I am not sure how I can get the list of parents in there. Also, I don't know how I can return the entity itself and not just its ID. My current HQL query is: select new map(parent.id as parentId, count(*) as childCount) from Parent parent left join parent.children children group by parent.id but this only returns the ID and does not filter on specific parents. EDIT Based on Pascal's answer I have modified the query to select new map(parent as parent, count(elements(parent.children)) as childCount) from Parent parent group by parent That does work, but is prohibitively slow: 30 seconds instead of 400 ms on the same database.
