• Cant access log files in production.

  I was trying to run my application and check for some output on the production.log. However Rails throws this error. Apache log Rails Error: Unable to access log file. Please ensure that /var/www/somefolder/someapp/log/production.log exists and is chmod 0666. The log level has been raised to WARN and the output directed to STDERR until the problem is fixed. I have performed the necessary chmod 666 production.log to make it work but I realized that the file is under root access. So my file permissions are -rw-rw-rw- 1 root root 20845 2010-03-18 01:18 production.log Im not sure how to allow Rails to access this file. Im fairly new to managing linux production env so I request you to excuse my ignorance.

• UINavigationController Right button

  I am unable to set any property of parentController (which is always a UINavigationController in my case) from child views. e.g. I want to add a button on the navigation bar using following code: UINavigationController* parentController = (UINavigationController)self.parentViewController; UIBarButtonItem *addButton = [[[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithTitle:@"Something" style:UIBarButtonItemStyleBordered target:self action:@selector(doSomething)] autorelease]; [_parentController.navigationItem setRightBarButtonItem:addButton animated:YES]; This code runs perfectly without errors but I can't see any button added to the navigation bar. • Determining full XHR request URL on a Google Chrome XHR Breakpoint

  I am initiating a jQuery ajax ($.ajax) post, within the Google Chrome browser. I have setup a XHR breakpoint in the "XHR Breakpoints" section of the "Scripts" tab within the Developer Tools. The criteria of the breakpoint is "get" ie. I want the debugger to break on all XHR requests which contain the word "get" in them (somePage.asmx/getListOfAnimals) is an example. The breakpoint is being correctly hit, however I am unable to determine what the exact URL that is being requested. I realize I can remove the breakpoint and see what URL is being requested from the "Network" tab, but I want to know this at the time the breakpoint is hit. I have tried stepping through the XHR request once it has been hit in Chrome, but I must be missing a Javascript object/property which contains the fully requested URL. Google Chrome has detected that the XHR requested URL contains "get" but how do I get to this URL from within the debug session before the request is made?

I could test a couple classes successfully. But I got error when testing the following: - (id)init { if (self = [super initWithNibName:@"Foo" bundle:nil]) { ... } return self; } The error message is -[UIViewController _loadViewFromNibNamed:bundle:] was unable to load a nib named "Foo" My question: Did I do something wrong? Missed something? or I cannot test -initWithNibName using Logic Tests technique. Thanks in advance for your help.

• ec2_bundle_vol fails with error LoadError

  Hi, I am a newbie in amazon ec2 setup. I have now setup a machine to my taste - and I now want to bundle it. I am running the following command from the launched instance - root@domU-21-34-67-26-ED-Z4:~# ec2-bundle-vol -r i386 -d /mnt \ -p ACT-VOL -u 8940-1355-4155 -k /tmp/pk-key.pem \ -c /tmp/cert.pem -s 10240 \ -e /mnt,/root/.ssh,/home/ubuntu/.ssh ruby: No such file or directory -- /home/ubuntu/ec2tools/ec2-api-tools-1.3-46266/lib/ec2/amitools/bundlevol.rb (LoadError) The ruby version is 1.8.7. I searched internet and installed libruby1.8-extras etc too, but to no avail. I also tried running it from site_ruby (/usr/local/lib/site_ruby) - but no use. I tried installing 1.8.6 version of ruby, but was unable to find a way to do so too. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, K

• IntelliSense has forgotten my code snippets!

  Hi all I have a stack of code snippets imported into Visual Studio. Just recently, they have stopped displaying in Intellisense. If the keyboard shortcut doesn't bring up anything else on IntelliSense, then I can tab and the code snippet is inserted just fine. However, if the keyboard shortcut for the snippet happens to also bring up other items in IntelliSense, tabbing will select the first of those items, so I actually can't use the code snippet at all! Does anyone have any ideas why IntelliSense would be unable to list my code snippet shortcuts? I started using ReSharper recently, but that wouldn't be the problem surely?! • Highlighting in Solr 1.4 - requireFieldMatch

  I have an object Title : foo Summary : foo bar Body : this is a published story about a foo and a bar All three are set up as fields with stored=true. The user searches across my system for the word "foo" I would like to highlight foo in all three places. The user searches for the word foo in the title "title:foo" I only want to highlight foo within the title. When I added hl.requireFieldMatch=true and hl.usePhraseHighlighter=true as part of my query over to SOLR I am unable to get the highlighting in all three places when doing a generic non fielded search. Is there a way to get both scenarios to work? I had these two items turned off, but I am adding in some fielded portions of the query that the user does not see which only display Published items for instance. the problem is (foo AND status:published) is causing the word published in the body to highlight when the user only searched for the word "foo".

  I've recently started to use SQLite and began to integrate it into a C# project I'm working on. However, randomly my project will throw the exception: Input array is longer than the number of columns in this table I'm having a hard time trying the trace the problem because it seems to be thrown on a random basis.   I'm having an interesting problem signing my Android application, whether or not I'm using a debug key. Regardless of the JDK I have installed to /usr/bin/{java,keytool,jarsigner} (OpenJDK or Sun's JDK) it will always give the following output after compiling successfully: -package-debug-sign: [apkbuilder] Creating RemoteNotify-debug-unaligned.apk and signing it with a debug key... BUILD FAILED /home/ianweller/AndroidSDK/platforms/android-7/templates/android_rules.xml:281: The following error occurred while executing this line: /home/ianweller/AndroidSDK/platforms/android-7/templates/android_rules.xml:152: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com.android.jarutils.DebugKeyProvider The application was built and signed just fine by Eclipse with the ADT plugin (even without Sun's JDK installed). I'm on Fedora 12. I'm wanting to get my code out of Eclipse and move it into a git repository, but being unable to build it from ant will not allow this to happen.

• Starting x11vnc remotely when X server is already running

  I have a ubuntu linux machine that I have already logged into and X server is running (it is pass the login manager like gdm). I can access this machine through ssh. My goal is to start x11vnc on this machine and attach it to the X server that is already running. When I ssh into the machine and start x11vnc, it says: X11 was unable to open the X DISPLAY ":0", it cannot continue. How can I start x11vnc on the remote machine if I don't have physical access to it and Xserver has already started.   I have a UITableViewCell that has some labels and images that can be clicked. I want to present a popover whenever a user clicks on any part of the cell. How can I achieve this without interfering with the click actions of the labels & images?   I am about to write an audio file converter for my side job at the university. As part of this I would need sample rate conversion. However, my professor said that it would be pretty hard to write a sample rate converter that was both of good quality and fast. On my research on the subject, I found some functions in the OSX CoreAudio-framework, that could do a sample rate conversion (AudioConverter.h). After all, an OS has to have some facilities to do that for its own audio stack. Do you know a similar method for C/C++ and Windows, that are either part of the OS or open source? I am pretty sure that this function exists within DirectX Audio (XAudio2?), but I seem to be unable to find a reference to it in the MSDN library.
