• Force jQuery to accept XHTML string as XML?

  So, as part of a baseline OpenID implementation in Javascript, I'm fetching a remote page source through AJAX, and looking for the <link rel="openid.server" href="http://www.example.com" /> tag in the head. I'm using the jQuery javascript library for the AJAX request, but am unable to parse out the link tags. Several other online sources talk about using the usual jQuery selectors to grab tags from XML/XHTML sources, but it seems jQuery can only get content from the body of an HTML document, not the head (which is where the link tags are; $(response).find('link') returns null). So, I'd either need to get jQuery to force this document into XML mode or otherwise get at the head tags. Is there a way to force jQuery to parse the response of an AJAX query as XML, when it's in reality XHTML? Or do I need to fall back to regular expressions to get the link tags out?

• SQL Server 2008 database mirroring madness

  I'm trying to get database mirroring to work on SQL Server 2008 between two computers. I checked connectivity, but here's what I end up with: on the principal machine, the server can connect to the mirror but refuses to set up a mirroring partnership due to it being 'unable to connect' (I checked connectivity, everything works). The weird thing has happened on the mirror. First, the mirror now thinks it's being mirrored. Second, after I delete and recover the mirrored database, it goes into Restoring... mode and just gets stuck there. Any ideas you might have on this are appreciated. Thanks!

  Hi, I have a web service which previously was deployed on http. I used to generate stub classes using wsimport using wsimport http://localhost:8080/MiniForumService/MiniForumService?wsdl. Now I deployed it on SSL. But when I try to generate the stub classes from it using wsimport https://localhost:8443/MiniForumService/MiniForumService?wsdl but I'm getting the following error: unable to find valid certification path to requested target I'm using a self-signed certificate on the server. If not, please comment on my question so I can write a little more to clarify my issue. What I want is to have code like this in C++. • Expanding all items of a NSOutlineView that loads data from a data source

  First of all I'm new to cocoa development so I suppose I'm probably trying to do this the wrong way, but here goes: I have a NSOutlineView which loads the data from a NSOutlineViewDataSource imnplementation. I want all the items to be expanded after they are loaded, but i can't seem to find an event fired when the data has finished loading, so I can send a [outlineView expandItem:nil expandChildren: YES] to it. I looked into the NSOutlineViewDelegate protocol but I was unable to find a sutable place for this call. What would be the best approach for this problem ?

• Building a maven child project that depends on another projects child project with Bamboo

  I have two maven projects Project AAA * AAA-Core * AAA-Other Project BBB * BBB-Core * BBB-AAA-specific I want to create a build plan in Bamboo to build the BBB-AAA-specific project. The plan configuration is such that this project depends on the AAA-Other projec build. Thus everything should work ok. But when I try to run the BBB-AAA-specific Bamboo plan I get an error that states: "Unable to find resource 'foo.bar.AAA:AAA:pom:0.0.1-SNAPSHOT' in repository snapshots (http://foo.bar.com)" What is going on? The bamboo builds for "AAA-Core" and "AAA-Other" work as expected.

  Hello guys, I've searched but was unable to find an existing regex function. Has anybody done this before? I wish to add a port number, or remove a potantially existing one from a url in php. To use in some functions which translate a given url to the secure one, unsecure one, etc. Now I need a second SSL secured site on the server so I need to dynamically add a port number while converting http to https, and remove any port number while converting from https to http. • CLR debugger and 'var'

  I'm using the CLR debugger (version 8, from "Visual Studio 2005") to debug some C# code. I can step through my code, but for many variables, the debugger won't show me its value. That is, if I type it in the "Immediate" frame or add it to the "Watch" frame, it says "Unable to evaluate the expression.". It seems to do this a lot for var variables, but I'm also seeing it for parameters and properties, too. I have not been able to figure out what the pattern is. Is there a rule for when it can display the value of a variable? Is there something I need to do to my code, or in my build script, to make the debugger able to view variables? Or is there a hidden debugger setting?

  I'm struggling with writing a python script that automatically grabs the zip fail containing all my google calendars and stores it (as a backup) on my harddisk. I'm using ClientLogin to get an authentication token (and successfully can obtain the token). Unfortunately, i'm unable to retrieve the file at https://www.google.com/calendar/exporticalzip It always asks me for the login credentials again by returning a login page as html (instead of the zip). Here's the critical code: post_data = post_data = urllib.urlencode({ 'auth': token, 'continue': zip_url}) request = urllib2.Request('https://www.google.com/calendar', post_data, header) try: f = urllib2.urlopen(request) result = f.read() except: print "Error" Anyone any ideas or done that before? • Avoid painting over nested controls

  I am writing a toolbar-style control and use the ThemeServices unit to paint the background required by the toolbar. Like so: ThemeServices.DrawElement(Canvas.Handle, ThemeServices.GetElementDetails(trRebarRoot), ARect); I then drop child controls onto the toolbar and voila - instant toolbar. Except that every now and again I notice that the nested (child) controls don't repaint as well. So my control paints its background and the child controls disappear until you move the mouse over them. Some of the edit controls show their client area (no border) and some of them are just gone altogether. This happens mostly when I place a window from another application over the toolbar and move it away. I keep thinking this has to be very easy to cure, that perhaps I'm somehow preventing the paint message from reaching the child controls, or missing an override but I have been unable to figure it out.

• asp.net InsertCommand to return latest insert ID

  Dear all, I'm unable to retrieve the latest inserted id from my SQL Server 2000 db using a typed dataset in asp.NET I have created a tableadapter and I ticked the "Refresh datatable" and "Generate Insert, Update and Delete statements". This auto-generates the Fill and GetData methods, and the Insert, Update, Select and Delete statements. I have tried every possible solution in this thread http://forums.asp.net/t/990365.aspx but I'm still unsuccesfull, it always returns 1(=number of affected rows). I do not want to create a seperate insert method as the auto-generated insertCommand perfectly suits my needs. As suggested in the thread above, I have tried to update the InsertCommand SQL syntax to add SELECT SCOPY_IDENTITY() or something similar, I have tried to add a parameter of type ReturnValue, but all I get is the number of affected rows. Does anyone has a different take on this? Thanks in advance! Stijn

Also the blog post of marekdec How to get maven archetype to generate empty directories fails for me. The trick within the archetype.xml with the trailing / doesnt works for me: <resources> <resource>src/main/webapp/</resource> Unable to find resource 'archetype-resources/src/main/webapp/' Also the fileSet directory in archetype-metadata.xml does not work for me: <fileSet filtered="true" encoding="UTF-8"> <directory>src/main/webapp/</directory> </fileSet> Is there any other solution?   hi, i am having this hard time figuring what is needed to do, i am using URLVariables to send/recieve values between flash and PHP the problem is, i am unable to access nested arrays ( array inside an array ) with flash heres an example: $dgresult = array("total" = $results); echo http_build_query($dgresult,"flf_"); in flash, all i need to do is to use: var variables:URLVariables = new URLVariables(e.target.data); then i can access it with : variables.total the problem now is when i have nested arrays: $dgresult = array("total" = $results); array_push($dgresult,$another_array); http_build_query($dgresult,"flf_"); i can still access variables.total but what about anything that has flf_ ? how is that possible?

• Remote C++ Development using SSH only inside Eclipse Environment

  How do you integrate Remote Systems Explorer and CDT plugin inside eclipse ? What I mean is that you can use Remote Systems Explorer (RSE) plugin to work on C++ code on a remote linux box inside Eclipse but when you try to compile, you basically run a shell command through SSH. The CDT plugin is unable to locate the remote system and off course the remote compiler. Is there a way to integrate both the plugins so that we can use the parsing / suggestion features of CDT for the remote system as well; and also features like remote compilation, remote debugging using SSH only. If this is not possible, then what is the closest open source alternative to the above problem.

• jQuery UI Draggable-Droppable overflow:visible

  Sadly, I am unable to provide any JSFiddle for this issue, as I cant seem to reproduce it outside my project. I have a container where there are some boxes, that can be arranged using drag and drop, by utilizing jQuery UI. The problem is, that the container is overflow:auto; but it needs to be overflow:visible;, but if I do that, jQuery UI malfunctions. When a box drag is initiated, it will immediatly jump up aproximately 400-500px. This is how the draggable is created: $(".draggable").draggable({ revert: 'invalid', // when not dropped, the item will revert back to its initial position containment: '#editContainer', // stick to demo-frame if present helper: 'original', cursor: 'move' }); Is this a bug with jQuery UI, or can this be fixed on my end? This can concisely express certain logic flows; I've encountered one of these flows in Perl. Right now what I am doing is sub frobnicator { my $frob = shift; return "foo" if $frob eq "Foomaticator"; return "bar" if $frob eq "Barmaticator"; croak("Unable to frob legit value: $frob received"); } Which feels inexpressive and ugly. This code has to run on Perl 5.8.8, but of course I am interested in more modern techniques as well.

  I am trying to parse a date that looks like this: 2010-04-05T17:16:00Z This is a valid date per http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc3339.txt. The 'Z' literal "imply that UTC is the preferred reference point for the specified time." If I try to parse it using SimpleDateFormat and this pattern: yyyy-MM-dd'T'HH:mm:ss It will be parsed as a Mon Apr 05 17:16:00 EDT 2010 SimpleDateFormat is unable to parse the string with these patterns: yyyy-MM-dd'T'HH:mm:ssz yyyy-MM-dd'T'HH:mm:ssZ I can explicitly set the TimeZone to use on the SimpleDateFormat to get the expected output, but I don't think that should be necessary. Is there something I am missing? Is there an alternative date parser?

• Safari will not redirect to querystring URL

  I have a site built with PHP that does a redirect after certain actions are performed. header("Location: http://example.com/accountArea/?v=updated"); I then show a message based on the value of the query string value. In safari (and only in Safari) after the redirect, you will only see a blank page. I have tried using absolute URL and relative URL in my redirect, neither work. I was unable to find a solution by searching the web so I hope someone here is familiar with this.
