• Extending Code Igniter functions to external PHP Scripts

  Hello everybody. I'm doing a small web app, which uses CKeditor for user input, and CKfinder for file management (images/flash). Those who know CKFinder, algo know that the config file for CKFinder as a function named CheckAuthentication() that returns false or true, giving or not permissions to use CKFinder. This is were a Custom PHP Code checks if the user as authorization to access CKFinder or not. Well for my app I'm using Code Igniter, and of course I've created a model were i handle everything about User Permissions, Loggin, Session Cookies, etc. And i also have a function witch its propose is just to check if the user is Logged in. So I would like to know if someone knows a way that i can call the function isLoggedIn() inside the model security from inside the function CheckAuthentication() in CKFinder config file. • Can't get gitosis and ssh to play nice on cygwin

  I have followed this guide to setting up gitosis on a windows 2003 server via cygwin. I have now got to a point where it largely works. I can clone, pull and push. The problem I am having is that I think I have not got the ssh bit right at all. When I connect via msysgit from machines and accounts where I have not created or uploaded ssh keys it works. Every time I clone, pull or push I get a password challenge for the 'git' user running on the server but basically I can execute git commands. When I connect with users with an ssh key in the ~/.ssh folder, I don't get the password challange and instead I get a permissions failure: DEBUG:gitosis.serve.main:Got command "git-upload-pack '/cris.git'" DEBUG:gitosis.access.haveAccess:Access check for 'teamcity@hhit24808' as 'writable' on 'cris.git'... When I use keys with a passphrase, I get challanged for the phrase but then get the same permissions problem. I have tried 'writable' and 'writeable' for permissions. Help!! Update 1: When I try to clone a non-existant repo, I get the same error message, co-incidence? Update 2: Wierd, I've got one machine and one login working. It seems to be something to do with the syntax for addressing git over ssh. This now works on one machine for one login: git clone git@servername:cris.git The same command fails for a user on another machine without an uploaded ssh key. But this command works (after being challanged for git@servername's password) git clone git@servername:/home/git/repositories/cris.git neither command works on a 2nd login whose ssh key has been uploaded

Boxes being used: Web Box SQL Box SQL Test Box My Application: I've got aASP.NET Web Application, which references a class library that uses LINQ-to-SQL. Connection string set up properly in the class library. As per http://stackoverflow.com/questions/97594/login-failed-for-user-username-system-data-sqlclient-sqlexception-with-linq-i I also added this connection string to the Web Application. The connection string uses SQL credentials as so (in both web app and class library): <add name="Namespace.My.MySettings.ConnectionStringProduction" connectionString="Data Source=(SQL Test Box);Initial Catalog=(db name);Persist Security Info=True;User ID=ID;Password=Password" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" /> This connection confirmed as working via adding it to server explorer. This is the connection string my .dbml file is using. The problem: I get the following error: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Login failed for user 'DOMAIN\MACHINENAME$'. Now referencing this http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1269706/the-error-login-failed-for-user-nt-authority-iusr-in-asp-net-and-sql-server-2 it says that's really the local network service and using any other non-domain name will not work. But I am confused because I've checked both SQL Box and SQL Test Box SQL Management Studio and both have NT AUTHORITY/NETWORK SERVICE under Security - Logins, at the database level, that isn't listed under Security - Users, but at the database level Security - Users I have the user displayed in the connection string. At NTFS level on web server, the permissions have NETWORK SERVICE has full control. The reason why I am confused is because I have many other web applications on my Web Server, that reference databases on both SQL Box and SQL Test Box, and they all work. But I cannot find a difference between them and my current application, other than I am using a class library. Will that matter? Checking NTFS permissions, setup of Security Logins at the server and databases levels, connection string and method of connecting (SQL Server credentials), and IIS application pool and other folder options, are all the same. Why do these applications work without adding the machinename$ to the permissions of either of my SQL boxes? But that is what the one link is telling me to do to fix this problem.

• Ant Copy Task: Failed to copy due to java.io.FileNotFoundException

  I'm trying to compile a Flex application in Ant (no problems here, I can do it fine). When I try to publish the contents of the project to a Windows network drive (known as "Z:\" on my system), I get the following LAME exception thrown by Java/Ant: BUILD FAILED C:\workspace\bkeller\build.xml:42: Failed to copy C:\workspace\bkeller\web\assets\text\biography.html to Z:\web\bkeller\assets\text\biography.html due to java.io.FileNotFoundException Z:\web\bkeller\assets\text\biography.html (The system cannot find the file specified) Which kind of sucks. I can't find any way to get rid of this problem and it's pretty crucial to my project that I get this working. I know for sure that I have read/write/execute permissions on the network drive, I can create/edit/delete files on the drive just fine through Windows explorer. Drive Z is a network mount to virtualbox, allowing me to get access to my host OS, Ubuntu. I've double checked that it has write permissions. Any ideas?

  Hello: I am designing a report that will be used in local mode (an RDLC file) in a Winform app. I have a custom assembly with a static class that has some functions that I want to use inside of the report (as expressions). I have found all sorts of help for doing this with RDL reports, but I'm running into a permissions problem with my RDLC report. I get the following error at runtime: "The report references the code module (my module), which is not a trusted assembly". I know that this is some kind of a code security issue, but I'm not sure what to do to fix it. The documentation that I have seen online is aimed at RDL reports, and it instructs me to edit a SQL Server-specific policy file. I'm using RDLC, so there is no sql server involved. What do I need to do to acquire the appropriate permissions?

• Using terminal vs KDE in linux?

  Hi Im used to using nautilus within centos but have recently just got a VPS and quickly realising that using a KDE is unacceptable in this environment. Although I do find it so much quicker doing things like folder permissions in KDE rather than typing it all out in the terminal? Everyone I speak to says, use the terminal and I should learn this way as opposed to using the KDE, but theres certain things I just dont get How is it possible to make quick changes to scripts and viewing them in a browser etc , without a mouse or using KDE? and only using a terminal?? I am wondering how to develop websites just using the terminal??? How can it be quicker to type out/view permissions etc in the terminal when its instant and just a few clicks in the KDE? Any thoughts are much appreciated. I would love to understand the benefits but just cant seem to see them right now. Cheers Ke.

• Windows 2003 IIS FTP Server Migration w/ User Accounts

  I'm trying to figure out the best way to migrate an FTP server from old hardware to new hardware. The server is on a domain, but not all the users setup on the server (to use FTP) are domain accounts, some are local to the server. For example, I have users both ways: domain\username machinename\username The new machine name will be different. So I need to copy all the files with permissions in tact from the old server to the new server. Then I need to convert all the user accounts from the old server to the new server. Then I need to change the file permissions so that they are no longer oldserver\username but newserver\username. Can this be accomplished all with CALCS? Is there an easy way that perhaps I'm missing?

• NativeWindow WndProc not receiving messages

  Could someone shed some light on why my WndProc method as implemented below isn't receiving any messages? If I put this class below in a WinForms application and pass in that application's handle, WndProc receives messages as I would expect. However, using the IntPtr returned from GetForegroundWindow() as I have below doesn't yield the same results.   I am having trouble in creating named pipe in Android and the example below illustrates my dilemma: res = mkfifo("/sdcard/fifo9000", S_IRWXO); if (res != 0) { LOG("Error while creating a pipe (return:%d, errno:%d)", res, errno); } The code always prints: Error while creating a pipe (return:-1, errno:1) I can't figure out exactly why this fails. The application has android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permissions. I can create normal files with exactly the same name in the same location, but pipe creation fails. The pipe in question should be accessible from multiple applications. I suspect that noone can create pipes in /sdcard. Where would it be the best location to do so? What mode mast should I set (2nd parameter)? Does application need any extra permissions?

• Mac OS - Built SVN from source, now Apache2 not loading sites

  This relates to another question I asked earlier today. I built SVN 1.6.2 from source. In the process, it has completely screwed up my dev environment. After I built SVN, Apache wasn't loading. It was giving me this error: Syntax error on line 117 of /private/etc/apache2/httpd.conf: Cannot load /usr/libexec /apache2/mod_dav_svn.so into server: dlopen(/usr/libexec/apache2/mod_dav_svn.so, 10): no suitable image found. Did find:\n\t/usr/libexec/apache2/mod_dav_svn.so: mach-o, but wrong architecture It appears that SVN over-wrote the old mod_dav_svn.so and I am not able to get it to build as FAT, and I can't recover whatever was originally there. I resolved this(temporarily?) by commenting out the line that was loading the mod_dav_svn.so and got Apache to start at this point. However, even though Apache is running I am now getting this error when trying to access my dev sites: Directory index forbidden by Options directive: /usr/share/tomcat6/webapps/ROOT/ I have Apache2 sitting in front of Tomcat6. I access my local dev site using the internal name "http://localthesite". I have had virtual directories set up that have worked until this SVN debacle. Tomcat is installed at /usr/local/apache-tomcat, and webapps is /usr/local/apache-tomcat/webapps. Our production servers deploy tomcat to /usr/share/tomcat6, so I have symlinks setup on my system to replicate this as well. These point back to the actual installation path. This has all been working fine as well. None of our configurations for Apache2, Tomcat, or .htaccess have changed. Over the weekend, I performed a "Repair Disk Permissions" on the system. This was before I discovered the mod_dav_svn.so problem. I have been reading up on this all morning and the most common answer is that there is an Options -Indexes set. We have this in a config file, but it was there before and when I removed it during testing, I still got the same errors from Apache. At this point, I'm assuming I either totally borked the native Apache2 installation on this Mac, or that there is a permissions error somewhere that I'm missing. The permissions error could be from the SVN installation, or from my repair process. Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem? I'm totally blocked right now and have no idea where to check next.

  Hello everyone! I've configure a git server. I need to use ssh because I've defined permissions using users of my domain, using LDAP. Only users with permissions could read a project. So, the links to access my repositories are like that: ssh://[email protected]@hostname/var/git/repo.git When I clone, commit or push a project using linux git commands or using tortoisegit on windows, there is no problem, everything works as expected. However, I've tried to clone a project using plugins from Eclipse (EGit) and Netbeans (NBGit), with no success. Seems that they can't recognize the host. I've accessed using a user from the server (not from the domain) and it cloned the project perfectly. Seems that the plugins assume that the host is everything after the first @. Do you know how I can solve this problem? There are any other Git plugins for those IDEs? Thanks for your answers. Best Regards, ukrania

• How to run an application as root without asking for an admin password?

  I am writing a program in Objective-C (XCode 3.2, on Snow Leopard) that is capable of either selectively blocking certain sites for a duration or only allow certain sites (and thus block all others) for a duration. The reasoning behind this program is rather simple. I tend to get distracted when I have full internet access, but I do need internet access during my working hours to get to a number of work-related websites. Clearly, this is not a permanent block, but only helps me to focus whenever I find myself wandering a bit too much. At the moment, I am using a Unix script that is called via AppleScript to obtain Administrator permissions. It then activates a number of ipfw rules and clears those after a specific duration to restore full internet access. Simple and effective, but since I am running as a standard user, it gets cumbersome to enter my administrator password each and every time I want to go "offline". Furthermore, this is a great opportunity to learn to work with XCode and Objective-C. At the moment, everything works as expected, minus the actual blocking. I can add a number of sites in a list, specify whether or not I want to block or allow these websites and I can "start" the blocking by specifying a time until which I want to stay "offline". However, I find it hard to obtain clear information on how I can run a privileged Unix command from Objective-C. Ideally, I would like to be able to store information with respect to the Administrator account into the Keychain to use these later on, so that I can simply move into "offline" mode with the convenience of clicking a button. Even more ideally, there might be some class in Objective-C with which I can block access to some/all websites for this particular user without needing to rely on privileged Unix commands. A third possibility is in starting this program with root permissions and the reducing the permissions until I need them, but since this is a GUI application that is nested in the menu bar of OS X, the results are rather awkward and getting it to run each and every time with root permission is no easy task. Anyone who can offer me some pointers or advice? Please, no security-warnings, I am fully aware that what I want to do is a potential security threat.

• PHP: Symlink in public_html cannot be accessed through browser

  I have tester.php file which I want to run on the browser and I have created symlink to it in my public_html folder, but still when I try to run it, its not working and gives me following error message. Access forbidden! You don't have permission to access the requested object. It is either read-protected or not readable by the server. If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster. Error 403 web.upc03.dev.com Sun Apr 4 22:41:23 2010 Apache I am not sure as to why am I getting this error message, I have check all file permissions settings and it seems to be fine. My File permissions settings are: lrwxrwxrwx for tester.php Is there something that should be done other way or is this not the proper approach ?

• Drupal auto change user role in module

  I am trying to write a module that will change a user's permissions once a node form is inserted into the database. I already have a role assigned when a user registers, but i want that role to be changed once they create a 'company' profile in this case which is when they fill out a cck form of 'company_post' type. • Windows Server 2003 Hacked - Files Being Uploaded

  Blank directories are being created on my Windows Server 2003 virtual server with sub directories that are weird (for example: "88ÿ ÿ ÿÿþþ þþ13þ"). It looks like they are uploading bootlegged DVDs and pirated software. All of my bandwidth and file space is being eaten up. Could this be a shared permissions issue? Where should I look to further investigate this? My security permissions for the directory that is being hit are as followed: Administrators - ALL GRANTED IIS_WPG - Read & Execute, List Folder Contents, Read Internet Guest - DENY SYSTEM - ALL GRANTED Users - Read & Execute, List Folder Contents, Read My Event Viewer is showing many Logon/Logoff with NO IP?

• Help with storing/accessing user access roles C# Winforms

  Hello, firstly I would like to thank you in advance for any assistance provided. I am new to software development and have designed several Client/Server applications over the last 12 months or so, I am currently working on a project that involves a user logging in to gain access to the application and I am looking at the most efficient and "simple" method of storing the users permissions once logged in to the application which can be used throughout restricting access to certain tabs on the main form. I have created a static class called "User" detailed below: static class User { public static int _userID; public static string _moduleName; public static string _userName; public static object[] UserData(object[] _dataRow) { _userID = (int)_dataRow[0]; _userName = (string)_dataRow[1]; _moduleName = (string)_dataRow[2]; return _moduleName; } } When the user logs in and they have been authenticated, I wish to store the _moduleName objects in memory so I can control which tabs on the main form tab control they can access, for example; if the user has been assigned the following roles in the database: "Sales Ledger", "Purchase Ledger" they can only see the relevant tabs on the form, by way of using a Switch - Case block once the login form is hidden and the main form is instantiated. • Using a filename with spaces with scp and chmod in bash.

  Periodically, I like to put files in the /tmp directory of my webserver to share out. What is annoying is that I must set the permissions whenever I scp the files. Following the advice from another question I've written a script which copies the file over, sets the permissions and then prints the URL: #!/bin/bash scp "$1" SERVER:"/var/www/tmp/$1" ssh SERVER chmod 644 "/var/www/tmp/$1" echo "URL is: http://SERVER/tmp/$1" When I replace SERVER with my actual host, everything works as expected...until I execute the script with an argument including spaces. Although I suspect the solution might be to use $@ I've not yet figured out how to get a spaced filename to work.

• Reporting Services SQL Server 2005 File Share Error

  Hi, I have a problem with Reporting Services, on an XP box, trying to save subscription reports onto a Windows 7 box over the network. No matter the permissions or accounts used by reporting services it always comes back with "A logon error occurred when attempting to access the file share. The user account or password is not valid." Since this is saving reports over the network and both admin accounts and open network/file permissions to everyone were both tried so I'm left wondering if this is an issue with Reporting Services 2005 has troubles with Windows 7 over the network. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks.

• In search of a packaged .Net security solution for web-forms.

  We are looking for a security solution for asp.net that has security down to the control level. This is not a necessity but, it would be nice. At the very least it needs to extend-able to allow for control level permissions. The solution should have an administration panel of some sort. It also needs to support roles, groups, and individual permissions. We haven't seen anything like this in the marketplace -- we are in the process of rolling our own solution. We'd rather use an off the shelf solution.

• Report Builder Error (Input string was not in a correct format) when filtering data

  Issue: the user is getting an error “The requested list could not be retrieved because the query is not valid or a connection could not be made to the data source.” while trying to filter a reporting using Report Builder 2.0. When you expand the details the message is “Input string was not in a correct format” I verified that when the user clicks to see the filter values the query is being sent to the underlying database (by using profiler). When I build the same report [I'm a server admin] I have no issues and see all the filtered values, which leads me to believe this is a permissions issue. I believe I granted all the correct permissions, see below: Report Server Setup [Project Name] Data Sources Models […other folders] We are using SQL Server 2005.   How to hide Lists from specific group, but at the same time allow them to add items in it?. I edited permission levels for the site and created a permission that has these privileges: List Permissions: Add Items, View Items. Site Permissions: View Pages, Open. And then assign this permission to the group along with View Only. However this would still show Lists and the users are able to access them. How can I hide it from this specific group only?.

• IIS 7.0 - Every site suddenly redirecting root request to forms authentication

  Suddenly, IIS 7.0 is redirecting every request for the root of any domain hosted on the box to ~/Account/Logon, which is our Forms Authentication redirect. Additionally, some JavaScript and image requests are being similarly redirected, but not other aspx pages. This is not desirable. Nobody will admit to changing anything. Any ideas? EDIT: It turns out that something has gone wrong with the disk permissions. Can anyone point me to the way things are supposed to be in Windows Server 2008 for a standard ASP.Net installation? The disk permissions are out of whack now.
