Nevertheless, it is not possible to access the share from Windows 7. The Solaris machine is reachable with ping. Access with another SMB enabled user is denied too.

  I am fluent in HTML and PHP and slowly learning JavaScript however I have noticed that there is a huge hole in my knowledge when it comes to understanding how web software communications actually work. I understand the flow of information across the net however I would like to learn about HTTP protocols to better understand how the data is actually sent back and forth through the internet to help me understand things like REST, HTTP Headers, AJAX requests, etc. However, I must be searching the wrong terms because I haven't been able to find a good description of HTTP protocols. • Copying single files into a folder that changes name every time the batch file is executed

  Can you please help, I am using this to put the text files made by the batch file into the folder created by the batch file as well. but my problem is that the name is changed of the new folder every time because it is named by the date and time it was created. • some OVERLAPS using WSASend not returning in a timely manner using GetQueuedCompletionStatus?

  Background: I'm using CreateIoCompletionPort, WSASend/Recv, and GetQueuedCompletionStatus to do overlapped socket io on my server. For flow control, when sending to the client, I only allow several WSASend() to be called when all pending OVERLAPs have popped off the IOCP. Problem: Recently, there are occassions when the OVERLAPs do not get returned to the IOCP. The thread calling GetQueuedCompletionStatus does not get them and they remain in my local pending queue. I've verified that the client DOES receive the data off the socket and the socket is connected. No errors were returned when the WSASend() calls were made. The OVERLAPs simply "never" come back without an external stimulus like the following: Disconnecting the socket from the client or server, immediately allows the GetQueuedCompletionStatus thread to retrieve the OVERLAPs Making additional calls to WSASend(), sometimes several are needed, before all the OVERLAPs suddenly pop off the queue. Question: Has anyone seen this type of behavior? Any ideas on what is causing this? Thanks, Geoffrey

• No virtual console on ubuntu 12.10

  When I try to do a ctr-alt f(1-6) in ubuntu 12.10 I only get a black screen with a blinking cursor but no login prompt. Any ideas on what could be wrong? • googlemap zoom in iphone application

  Hi all, i have a problem in iphone application that i have integrated google map and i am calculating center runtime so that the map shows both points on the iphone screen, the alogrithm applied (thanks to stackover flow) is working fine in case of 2 locations very far from each other. But it is not working for near locations and the zoom level goes too much that it is not able to show any images of those two near locations, so i want to put a check that if the location are very near to each other OR the google is not able to show the maps of the locations then it choose the default zoom level so that it shows the map on the screen instead of blank / black screen. • Screen goes grey in Remote Desktop Connection from windows 7 to ubuntu server

  I recently got a 64 bit ubuntu server based on Ubuntu Desktop 12.04 "Precise Pangolin". However I can't seem to connect to it properly from my windows 7 64 bit machine. I can get to the login screen for ubuntu, and it seems to succeed in logging in, but then the screen just goes grey before anything comes up. (too low rep to post a picture) I installed xrdp on the server and attempt to connect using the standard windows Remote Desktop Connection program. • Apache Subversion and Sudo - Why can't I resolve this hostname?

  Okay, I made a mistake and I'll be the first to admit I'm new at this setup. I built a bare bones kit, installed Ubuntu on it, and attempted to set up a source control server for a project some friend and I were going to work on. Unfortunately, I screwed up. I followed a dodgy tutorial from 2005 and when it didn't work, started mixing and matching trying to get to the source of my problem. So now I sit before you, a broken and miserable man. Desperate to escape this annoying echo of 'Unable to resolve host computer.repositoryname.com', I uninstalled apache and subversion. That did not fix it. Next I tried to edit my /etc/hosts, going so far as to remove the reference to '127.0.1.1 computername'. Still I'm plagued. I know I messed up, is there any way to track down this wayward bug?

  Hi, I've just started my first real programming job and am pleased to discover that this is exactly what I want to do for the rest of my life. When it comes round to ~1 hour before it's time to go home and I think "Man, do I have to go home already?" I'd say that's A Good Thing(tm). One thing I've discovered though is that it takes a little while for my brain to get "in gear" or "in the Zone", so I'm curious what other folks do to get programming at their prime. My current flow is when I get here I visit SO and look at the interesting problems - I find it helps get my brain moving. After 20-30 minutes I start looking at my code/specs/etc to decide what I want/need to work on first. So how do you get started?

• How can an animator do animation targeted for the iPhone

  Hi, I'm working with an animator for the iPhone. The animator I'm working with isn't a programmer and has a background in Flash. (right now she's doing the animation in Flash and I need to convert to Objective C). For some it's ok because I can just use image frames, but there are more complex animation that would take longer for me to convert to Objective C.   I was following a tutorial which had this command to create a launchd.conf file in /etc/ sudo echo "some command" /etc/launchd.conf But it wouldn't work, I got permission denied after entering my admin password. • Moving and resizing JPanels object inside JFrame.

  Continuing my quest of learning Java by doing a simple game, i stumbled upon a little issue. My gameboard extends JPanel as well as each piece of the board. Now, this presents some problems: Cant set size of each piece, therefore, each piece JPanel ocupy the whole JFrame, concealing the rest of the pieces and the background (gameboard). Cant set the position of the pieces. I have the default flow manager. Tried setbounds and no luck. Perhaps i should make the piece to extend other JComponent?

I want to iterate over all users (in users.csv), and in their home folder (e.g. /home/joe) find all php files recursively, and replace each occurrence of "commondb" with their own databasename, e.g. "joedb" for "joe". • Django adminsite customize search_fields query

  Howdy! In the django admin you can set the search_fields for the ModelAdmin to be able to search over the properties given there. My model class has a property that is not a real model property, means it is not within the database table. The property relates to another database table that is not tied to the current model through relations. But I want to be able to search over it, so I have to somehow customize the query the admin site creates to do the filtering when the search field was filled - is this possible and if, how? I can query the database table of my custom property and it then returns the ids of the model classes fitting the search. This then, as I said, has to flow into the admin site search query. Thanks!

  I have a batch script that I use when I set up new Windows 7 PCs that creates a user based on a variable, creates a folder on their desktop, then shares it: @echo off SET /p unitnumber="Enter unit number: " net user unit%unitnumber% password /add /expire:never MD "C:/Users/unit%unitnumber%/Desktop/Accounting #%unitnumber%" runas /user:administrator "net share "Accounting#%unitnumber%"="C:/Users/unit%unitnumber%/Desktop/Accounting#%unitnumber"" I discovered that the share that is created is overwritten when the newly created user first logs on, because Windows creates builds their profile directory at that time. Is there any way to initiate a build of a user's profile directory in the batch file just after creating the it? The only thing that looks useful is the /homedir:pathname switch for the net user command, but I believe that option assumes the directory already exists. Other than that web research hasn't been fruitful. I'd be to use whatever to get this done as long as I can incorporate/launch it from the batch. Any suggestions?

  I've recently converted some java apps to run with linux manually-configured hugepages. I've got about 10 tomcats running on a system and I am interested in knowing how much memory each one is using. I can get summary information out of /proc/meminfo as described in Linux Huge Pages Usage Accounting. But I can't find any tools that tell me about the actual per-process hugepage usage. I poked around in /proc/pid/numa_stat and found some interesting information that led me to this grossity: function pshugepage () { HUGEPAGECOUNT=0 for num in `grep 'anon_hugepage.*dirty=' /proc/$@/numa_maps | awk '{print $6}' | sed 's/dirty=//'` ; do HUGEPAGECOUNT=$((HUGEPAGECOUNT+num)) done echo process $@ using $HUGEPAGECOUNT huge pages } The numbers it gives me are plausible, but i'm far from confident this method is correct. • cannot run CMD script from Vista windows explorer

  I am running Vista Home Premium. I tried to write a script to do some simple automation.... it does not work! even the most simple script like: @echo ON dir . does not get executed and only an empty CMD shell pops open when started from explorer. From the cmd windows there is no problem. This is really weird and I have never seen this before (but wrote many CMD scripts before) ftype cmdfile and batfile are unchanged from "%1" %* virusscan done - no problems Is there a policy setting that might have changed? Any ideas?
