• Sending STDERR to logger

  Im writing a bash-script to perform an offsite backup, using rsync over SSH. I'm able to send STDOUT to logger, for logs via rsync --del -az -e 'ssh -i mycrt.crt' /home/gnutt/backup/ me@offisite:backup | logger -i But I want to send STDERR instead, so if there is a problem, such as that offsite is unavailable, that output should be sent to logger and logged.

  Hello, I am writing a program using rmi to connect server and clients together and got the following issue: My rmi server support both ethernet and wifi mode rmi clients can connect to the server either vi ethernet or wifi depending. That because s*ome clients can only run via ethernet* and some can only run via wifi. My question is: how can I make my rmi server connect to all clients in such situation? Thanks.

  How do I get log4j to pick up a properties file. I'm writing a Java desktop app which I want to use log4j. In my main method if have this: PropertyConfigurator.configure("log4j.properties"); The log4j.properties file sits in the same directory when I open the Jar. Yet I get this error: log4j:ERROR Could not read configuration file [log4j.properties]. java.io.FileNotFoundException: log4j.properties (The system cannot find the file specified) What am I doing wrong?

If I'm writing them down as classes, I should maybe also know what interfaces they implement, etc, and put that in the diagram. How far do I go with this?   Background I'm attempting to demonstrate, using a real-world example, of why someone would not want to configure their internal network on the 1.0.0.0/8 subnet. Obviously it's because this is not designated as private address space. As of 2010, ARIN has apparently allocated 1.0.0.0/8 to APNIC (the Asia-Pacific NIC), who seems to have begun assigning addresses in that subnet, though not in 1.1.0.0/16, 1.0.0.0/16, and others (because these addresses are so polluted by bad network configurations all around the Internet). My Question My question is this: I'd like to find a website that responds on this subnet somewhere and use it as a counter-example, demonstrating to a non-technical user its inaccessibility from an internal network configured on 1.0.0.0/8. Other than writing a program to sniff all ~16 million hosts, looking for a response on port 80, does anyone know of a directory I can use, or even better yet, does anyone know of a site that's configured on this subnet? WHOIS seems to be too general of a search for me at this point...

  I suppose this question is more general than working with COM components. I have a .NET client written in C# and COM component written in pure Win32 API. Client side uses this component to perform some actions. How to know on the client that component did its job?   I have been writing my first jQuery plugin and struggling to find a means to time how long different pieces of code take to run. I can use firebug and console.time/profile. However, it seems that because my code executes so fast I get no results with profile and with time it spits out 0ms. (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2690697/firebug-profiling-issue-no-activity-to-profile/2690846#2690846) Is there a way to get the time at a greater level of detail that milliseconds in javascript?
