  Just curious as to why Dictionary is not supported by XmlSerializer? You can get around it easily enough by using DataContractSerializer and writing the object to a XmlTextWriter, but what are the characteristics of a Dictionary that makes it difficult for a XmlSerializer to deal with considering it's really an array of KeyValuePairs. In fact, you can pass an IDictionary<TKey, TItem> to a method expecting an IEnumerable<KeyValuePairs<TKey, ITem>>.

  I like using sentry classes in c++, but I seem to have a mental affliction that results in repeatedly writing bugs like the following: { MySentryClass(arg); // ... other code } Needless to say, this fails because the sentry dies immediately after creation, rather than at the end of the scope, as intended. Is there some way to prevent MySentryClass from being instantiated as a temporary, so that the above code either fails to compile, or at least aborts with an error message at runtime?

  I have been writing my first jQuery plugin and struggling to find a means to time how long different pieces of code take to run. I can use firebug and console.time/profile. However, it seems that because my code executes so fast I get no results with profile and with time it spits out 0ms.   Background I'm attempting to demonstrate, using a real-world example, of why someone would not want to configure their internal network on the 1.0.0.0/8 subnet. Obviously it's because this is not designated as private address space. As of 2010, ARIN has apparently allocated 1.0.0.0/8 to APNIC (the Asia-Pacific NIC), who seems to have begun assigning addresses in that subnet, though not in 1.1.0.0/16, 1.0.0.0/16, and others (because these addresses are so polluted by bad network configurations all around the Internet). My Question My question is this: I'd like to find a website that responds on this subnet somewhere and use it as a counter-example, demonstrating to a non-technical user its inaccessibility from an internal network configured on 1.0.0.0/8. Other than writing a program to sniff all ~16 million hosts, looking for a response on port 80, does anyone know of a directory I can use, or even better yet, does anyone know of a site that's configured on this subnet? WHOIS seems to be too general of a search for me at this point...
