  • Audio input problem in Ubuntu 9.10

    My audio input is a mix of my mic output and my sound card output. I'd like it to be just my mic output. I was able to do so in Ubuntu 9.04 but the interface is 9.10 is totally changed and I tried every my creativity was able to think. It's really annoying when talking to other people over the internet because they keep hearing their voice back. I'm not sure I explained it in clear way so I'll give you an example: What I do: I put an mp3 on play or a video on youtube then open a recorder and start to talk on my mic. What happens: both my voice and audio from mp3/youtube get reordered, even if I put headphones volume to 0 (via hardware). What I'd like to happen: Only my voice should be recorded. I'm sure I'm missing some technical term, but that's the problem and I'd like to solve it in Ubuntu 9.10, any idea?

  • Can MKS Integrity integrate with other source control tools? (SVN, Git...)

However, we currently use Subversion, and he doesn't want to force us devs to use a version control system that we don't like. Is is possible to integrate a different version control program into MKS Integrity? I'm particularly interested in SVN, Git, Mercurial and Bazaar. If you've tried mixing tools like this before, I'd love to hear about your experiences.

About 90% of them are imported perfectly but 10% are rewritten automatically into scientific notation. How do I turn this feature of. I just want all the numbers kept in their standard form.   • Disabling email-style usernames in Django 1.2 with django-registration

    Django 1.2 allows usernames to take the form of an email address. Changed in Django 1.2: Usernames may now contain @, +, . and - characters I know that's a much-requested feature, but what if you don't want the new behavior? It makes for messy usernames in profile URLs and seems to break django-registration (if a user registers an account with an email-style username, the link in the django-registration activation email returns 404). Does anyone have a recipe for restoring the old behavior and disabling email-style usernames?

    Version: Eclipse 4.2 Codename: Juno I don't see a fast view bar in eclipse 4.2. I can't rightclick on a view and enable fast view. The fast view options under General - Perspectives does nothing. Was the fast view feature removed or am I missing something? I've looked up at http://help.eclipse.org/juno/index.jsp?topic=%2Forg.eclipse.platform.doc.user%2Ftasks%2Ftasks-9b.htm , but that didn't helped either.

    We would like to set-up a live video-chat web site and are looking for basic recomendations for software and hardware set-up. Most streams will be broadcast live from a single person with a web cam, etc., and viewed by typically 1-10 people, although there could be up to 100+ viewers on the high side. Audio and video do not have to be super-high quality, but do need to be "good enough". The main point is to convey the basic info in the video (and audio). If occasionally the frame-rate drops low and then goes back to normal fairly soon, we could live with that. Budget is an issue, so we are in general looking for a lower cost solution that will give us most of what we need in temers of performance and quality. We are looking at Peer1 for co-lo. The rest of our web site will be .Net / Windows platform. We are open to looking at any platform for the best streaming solution, although our technical expertise is currently more on the Windows side.

    I've seen some discussion on why c# does not implement multiple inheritance but very little as to why it isn't supported in vb. I understand that both c# and vb are compiled down to intermediary language and so they both need to share similar restrictions. The lack of multiple inheritance in VB seems to have been given as one reason for the lack of the feature in dot net. Does anyone know why VB doesn't support multiple inheritance? I'm hoping for a bit of history lesson and discussion on why this was never considered for VB.

    I have been developing a new JavaScript application which is rapidly growing in size. This technique has worked marvelously for me - as it has created only one global footprint in the DOM and has given me a very flexible framework to grow each additional feature of the application. However - I am reaching the point where I'd really rather not keep this entire application inside one JavaScript file. I'd like to move from having one large uniqueApplication.js file during development to having a separate file for each feature in the application, featureOne.js - featureTwo.js - featureThree.js Once I have completed offline development testing, I would then like to use something, perhaps Google Closure Compiler, to combine all of these files together - however I want these files to all be compiled inside of that scope, as they are when I have them inside one file - and I would like for them to remain in the same scope during offline testing too. I see that Google Closure Compiler supports an argument for passing in modules but I haven't really been able to find a whole lot of information on doing something like this. Anybody have any idea how this could be accomplished - or any suggestions on a development practice for writing a single JavaScript Library across multiple files that still only leaves one footprint on the DOM?

    Hi Team, While preparing a Word 2007 document, I made a mistake. (Not to say I don't have any other copy of the document) While formatting (as a try) I applied the style "Apply Style to Body to match selection". This caused the document to go totally in a wronfg format - having numbers even in tables. Have you ever faced this? Could you please tell how to correct it?     I have an event handler for the TextBox.TextChanged event on a form of mine. In order to support undo, I'd like to figure out exactly what has changed in the TextBox, so that I can undo the change if the user asks for it. (I know the builtin textbox supports undo, but I'd like to have a single undo stack for the whole application) Is there a reasonable way to do that? If not, is there a better way of supporting such an undo feature?

  • How to make Flash 'play well with others'?

    What up fam. So this isn't a question asking about memory management schemes; for those of you who may not know, the Flash Virtual Machine relies on garbage collection by using reference counting and mark and sweep (for good coverage of these topics, check out Grant Skinner's article and presentation). And yes, Flash also provides the "delete" operator, which can (unfortunately only) be used to remove the properties of dynamic objects. What I want to know is how to make it so that Flash programs don't continue to consume CPU and memory while running in the background (save loading content or communicating remotely, for example). The motivation for this question comes in part from Apple's ban on cross compiled applications (in its SDK 4) on the grounds that they do not behave as predicted with the multitasking feature central to iPhone OS 4. My intention is not only to make Flash programs that will 'pass muster' as far as multitasking in iPhone OS 4, but also to simply make better (behaving) Flash programs. Put another way, how might a Flash application mimic the multitasking feature of iPhone OS 4? Does the Flash API provide the means for a developer to put their applications to 'sleep' while other programs run, and then to 'awaken' them just as quickly? I have looked through the virtualbox manuals but nothing extremely technical came up (It was just a generic gloss over of the topic) How does it assign a different ip to the virtual machine but uses the same network card? Why does this different ip (I found using ip addr under linux) not show up under the "attached devices section" of my router but I can port forward to it? How come if I connect to a password protected wifi network, it does not require me to enter my password? Is this multihoming?

    I have a VPS based on Ubuntu, it has installed whole LAMP, everything needed for a web server and it works perfectly, but I'm still not able to configure it as a mail server.... I have configured MX record for my domain mail.mydomain.com and this part is OK, I also installed Postfix, Dovecot and Roundcube, configured it using this tutorial: http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Mail_Server_setup And after hours of configuring it doesn't work. I have experience with Linux and web hosting, but I successfully configured mail server once in past on Debian 6, and that with help from there. When I try to send email to me my gmail says: Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the server for the recipient domain mydomain.com by dc147738a1117e4c12273.mydomain.com. [MY_SERVER_IP]. The error that the other server returned was: 554 5.7.1 <[email protected]>: Relay access denied Also I have Webmin control panel which works perfectly, how to configure postfix and dovecot from there? For example, if content is copied and pasted from Microsoft Word, there is a selectable option to remove all formatting of the pasted content or the content is stripped on the paste event. But it seems that Perl is the most popular language when it comes to CGI-based stuff. Why is that? Wouldn't it be faster programmed in C or machine code?     When adding relationships to a database model in DB Designer 4, a composite primary key is being created every time. So every foreign key I add, I get an extra key added to a composite primary key. I think I must have changed a setting as I don't remember it doing this in the past. Does anyone know how to turn off this feature as I prefer to use a single surrogate primary keys in my database tables?

I'm just starting out with arduino and know nothing about interfacing LCDs with arduino. I'm planing to buy Old IPhone LCD as they are cheap and big enough to do something useful with them. Also to use iPhone LCD do I need to add some extra circuit or directly plugging iPhone LCD into arduino will work? I don't care about the touch feature right now.
