• _CopyWebApplication with web.config transformations

  I am trying to have my web application automatically Publish when a Release build is performed. I'm doing this using the _CopyWebApplication target. I added the following to my .csproj file: <!-- Automatically Publish in Release build. --> <Import Project="$(MSBuildExtensionsPath)\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\WebApplications\Microsoft.WebApplication.targets" /> <Target Name="AfterBuild"> <RemoveDir Directories="$(ProjectDir)..\Output\MyWeb" ContinueOnError="true" /> <MSBuild Projects="MyWeb.csproj" Properties="Configuration=Release;WebProjectOutputDir=$(ProjectDir)..\Output\MyWeb;OutDir=$(ProjectDir)bin\" Targets="ResolveReferences;_CopyWebApplication" /> </Target> This works but with one issue. The difference between this output, and the output generated when using the Publish menu item in Visual Studio, is that the Web.Release.config transformation is not applied to the Web.config file when using the MSBuild method. Instead, Web.config, Web.Release.config, and Web.Debug.config are all copied. Any ideas are appreciated.

• Drawing and Animating with UIView or CALayer?

  hello, i am trying to implement a graph which a uiview draws. There are 3 UIViews to animate a left/right slide. The problem is, that i can't cancel the UIView animation. So I replaced the UIViews by CALayer. Now, the question is if CALayer is appicable for this? Is it normal to draw on a CALayer like this? And why is a CALayer so slow when I manipulate the frame properties. CGRect frame = curve.frame; frame.origin.x -= diffX; [curve setFrame:frame]; Is there a alternativ? P.S. I am a german guy. Sorry for mistakes.

• Using wix3 SqlScript to run generated temporary sql-script files.

  I am starting to write an installer which will use the SqlScript-element. That takes a reference to the Binary-table what script to run. I would like to dynamically generate the script during the installation. I can see three possibilities: Somehow to get SqlScript to read it data from a file rather then a Binary entry. Inject my generated script into the Binary table Using SqlString Which will cause the need to place some rather long strings into Properties, but I guess that shouldn't really be a prolem. Any advice? Regards Leif (My reason, should anyone be interested is that the database should have a job set up, that calls on an installed exe-file. I prefer to create the job using sqlscript. And the path of that file is not known until InstallDir has been choosen.)

  I have ListView control in my application which is binded to the collection of CustomObject List<CustomObject. The CustomObject has seperate view. This ListView has seperate view model. The collection List _customobject is containted in the ListView ViewModel class. My Query: I want to invoke a view that show properties of custom object, when user double click on any row of ListView. The ListView double click command is binded to the ListViewDoublClick Command in the view model. The CustomObject is in the event argument of listview double click command. To acheive this I have to pass the custom object ( or an unique id property of custom object through which I can retrieve the custom object from the collection) as command parameter. Please suggest me the solution!!

  Simple questions. function p() { function A() { this.random = "random"; } A.prototype.newfunc = function(){ alert("5");} function B() { } B.prototype = new A(); var bObj = new B(); } Q1: When I set B's prototype, I don't get how B's prototype property will update when/if A's prototype is updated. I mean, to me it just inherits/copies all those properties. It's not like it's: B.prototype = A.prototype where B and A are one in the same. Q2: After A is being returned and intialized to the prototype object of B, how does JS know not to include that prototype property? What I mean is, we never have this type of situation occuring as the JS interpreter knows just to chop off the property of A's prototype: B.prototype = new A(); //any A object has an associated prototype object B.prototype.prototype;//after initialization we no longer have the separate prototype property of A

• CACLS Confusion

  During my NSIS setup script for a WinForms app, I use the following CACLS command to give the Users group full rights to a subfolder: Exec 'CACLS "$INSTDIR\SubFolder" /E /T /C /G "Users":F' So in effect the CACLS command executed is something like: CACLS "c:\Program Files\MyApp\SubFolder" /E /T /C /G "Users":F When I then look at the Folder permissions in Windows Explorer (right click on the folder and choose Properties, go to the Security tab), the correct permissions are there but they are uneditable. Furthermore, clicking the Advanced button for the 'Advanced Security Settings' shows that SubFolder is inheriting the "Users" group permissions from a 'Parent Object', but what is that Parent Object, because its not the folder above. Why are the permissions added by CACLS uneditable, and why are they inherited from nonexistent parent object? I thinking I may have set the options on CACLS wrong. I'm on Windows XP.

  Hello everyone, I'm starting to study Silverlight 3 and Visual Studio 2008. I've been trying to create Windows sidebar gadget with button controls that look like circles (I have couple of "roundish" png images). The behavior, I want, is the following: when the mouse hovers over the image it gets larger a bit. When we click on it, then it goes down and up. When we leave the button's image it becomes normal sized again. Cause I'm going to have couple of such controls I decided to implement custom control: like a button but with image and no content text. My problem is that I'm not able to set my custom properties in my template and style. What am I doing wrong? • Loading Eclipse plug-ins from source .jar without project file

  I have a number of plug-ins meant for the OSGi framework. They have been bundled in individual .jars containing the source .java files as well as the needed MANIFEST.MF and plugin.properties files. The problem is, I wish to edit these. What is the best/easiest way to import them as plug-ins into Eclipse so that I can continue as if I had been handed an eclipse project with source files (instead of the .jar files). • How to access MyProject.MySettings.Default.SomeSetting from xaml?

  I have defined a StringCollection in the Project Settings. I want to use the values in a ComboBox. Is there a way to access it xamly? I tried: <CollectionViewSource Source="{x:Static src:MySettings.Default.MyCollection}" /> <CollectionViewSource x:Key="RoomSections" Source="{x:Static src:MySettings.Default.RoomSections}" /> *src is the xmlns of the project It says: "Type src:MySettings.Default was not found". The thing is that MySettings is a class that offers a Default property which is a thread-safe instance of MySettings, I really want to get the collection from the Default property and not by instantiating a new on. Is there other ways I am not aware of, maybe ObjectDataProvider can access static objects? I thought, maybe I can make in the App.xaml a global resource that return MySettings.Default which is an instance of the MySettings class, and then access all its properties, I will try that out, but I prefer the easy way.

• Can dummy objects be simulated on iphone?

  I come from 3D animation and one of the basic things all 3D software have is the ability to create dummy objects. Dummy objects can be used to groups objects that can be rotated, moved or scaled together around a specific anchor point. This is the idea of what I am asking. Obviously we can have fake dummies by using a view and put other views as subviews, but this has problems as the view receives clicks and sometimes you don't want it to do so. You cannot change the anchorpoint of a view too. So, the dummies as I ask have, at least, these properties: adjustable anchor point it is not clickable it is totally invisible (cannot be rendered). any scale, rotation and translation of a dummy are propagated to the grouped objects considering the dummy's anchor point. it is totally animatable. Can this be simulated on iPhone? Is there any object that can be created to simulate this? thanks.

• Display Image from Byte Array in WPF - Memory Issues

  Hi, I've developed an application to capture and save images to a database, but I'm having an issue with memory usage. On my domain object I have 3 properties: Image - Byte array, contents are a jpg RealImageThumb - The byte array converted to a BitmapImage and shrunk, displayed to the user in a gridview with other thumbnails RealImage - Has no setter, the byte array converted to a bitmap source, this is shown in a tooltip when the user hovers over it. The issue I have is that if a user hovers over each image in turn the memory usage spirals. I realise that as a user hovers over bitmap sources are generated and the memory isn't freed up, I've tried giving RealImage a backing property and assigning this to null after but again the memory isn't freed up (waiting for the garbage colelctor?.

• It is possible to override a plugin's Controller from another plugin?

  I'm developing a plugin (MyPlugin) which combines some security functions to use it as a standard plugin for my next Grails application. It integrates the Spring-Security-Core and Spring-Security-UI plugins, and by its installation all dependencies should be installed automatically by adding the dependencies in the BuildConfig like: plugins { compile: ...} So far everything works fine, but in MyPlugin I'm changing the behaviour of the Spring-Security-UI plugin (password encoding in User Domain), by overwriting the UserController. Executing MyPlugin leads to the expected behaviour and new Users are created using the correct Controller. However, when installing MyPlugin in another Grails application, this behaviour fails and the original UserController of the Spring-Security-Ui plugin is used. I tried to solve this by configuring the dependsOn and loadAfter properties in the GrailsPlugin file, but without any success. Is it possible to fix this? • How to Increment Visual Studio build number using C++?

  I have a Visual Studio 2008 project that produces a file called: "Game-Release.exe". This was configured under Project Properties - C/C++ - Linker - General: $(OutDir)\$(ProjectName)-Release.exe I would like to take this a bit further by have an incrementing build number so I would have something which says: Game-Release-Build-1002.exe The number on the end should be an incrementing integer. I will be storing the build exe's on subversion so I think i would find this useful (although not necessary). Perhaps there is a built in macro in Visual Studio that could handle this. Quite possibly I was thinking I could have a text file with the build number in it and have the compiler read, use and increment the number in the file each time the project is built. My goal is however to make the process as automated as possible. What is the best way to accomplish this? If you offer an opinion, please also provide the code we can all share. Thnx.

  I'm trying to figure out which property of BoxComponentEvent will tell me if the generated OnMouseWheel event was a scroll-up or scroll-down event. I have output the values of all the properties BoxComponentEvent exposes; and all of them (with the exception of the coordinates at which the event took place) stay the same regardless.   Hi, I'm trying to comprehend ontology basics. Here's an example: car (class) 2009 VW CC (sub-class or instance?) My neighbor's 2009 VW CC (instance) My issue is understanding what is "2009 VW CC" (as a car model). If you're making product model a sub-class in the ontology - all of a sudden your ontology becomes bloated with thousands of subclasses of a "car". That's redundant. At the same time we can't say "2009 VW CC" is an instance, at least it's not material instance of a class. Does it make sense to distinguish between regular instances and material (distinct physical objects)? At the other hand, if both are instances (of different nature so to say), then how can instance inherit properties / relations of a non-class?

• How to add a hyperlink column to a TcxGrid (Developer express grid)

  Hi In Delphi I've managed (!) to add a column to a TcxGrid table view that appears as a hyperlink (instead of a simple string). To do this, you simply edit 'properties' of the column and choose 'hyperlink'. The cell now shows a hyperlink style (underlined) but I canot for the life of me see how to: Get the cursor to change to the 'hand' when over the link. Add an event that is fired when I click the link. Can anyone help? Thanks.

• Compiler warning "not found in protocol(s)" when using [[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]

  I have myClass instantiated by my appDelegate, I have another class, newClass instantiated by myClass. From the newClass instance, I want to access a property in the myClass instance that created it. I have done this by: [[[UIApplication sharedApplication].delegate myClass] property] This works, I can actually get the property but I get this warning from Xcode: warning: "-myClass" not found in protocols warning: no "-myClass" method found (messages without a matching signature will be assumed to return "id" and accept "..." as arguments) The newClass property has been correctly declared in the .h and .m files, it's properties have been set and it has been synthesized. It compiles and runs and I can actually get the property's value. Should I ignore the warning in Xcode? Is there a better way to access the myClass instance's property?

  When you initialize a tinyMCE editor I have noticed two different ways to get called when the editor is created. One way is using the setup callback that is part of tinyMCE.init: tinyMCE.init({ ... setup : function(ed) { // do things with editor ed } }); The other way is to hook up to the onAddEditor event: tinyMCE.onAddEditor.add(function(mgr,ed) { // do things with editor ed }); What are the differences between using these two methods? Is the editor in a different state in one versus the other? For example, are things not yet loaded if I try to access properties on the editor object. What are reasons to use one over the other?

• Google Chrome Speed Tracer what does Request Timing and Response Timing actually measure?

  I'm testing out the Google Chrome Speed Tracer on a few common web pages and taking a look through the results. One thing I'm not sure I understand is what the "Request Timing" and "Response Timing" properties of resources are actually measuring. Initially I thought Request Timing must measure the time from a request for a resource being sent and when that request arrived at the server. However, I then wondered how the Speed Tracer would actually have any way of measuring this. Furthermore, the Response Timing that I'm getting for resources tends to be far less than the Request Timing (e.g. 500ms request, 1ms response), which is a little bit suss. So is anyone able to explain exactly what Request Timing and Response Timing are measuring?

• WPF ComboBox Object Binding - not updating DataContext Object

  Hello, I have the following scenario: 1 class called 'Widget' with the properties: ID, Code, Description 1 class called 'MyWidget' with a property: m_Widget As Widget 1 ComboBox The ComboBox has a List(Of Widget) set as the ItemSource. I create an instance of 'MyWidget' named MyWidget1 and I set the property values of the m_Widget to match one of the items in the 'ComboBox List(Of Widget)'. I then set the DataContext of the ComboBox to MyWidget1.Widget. When I change the ComboBox selected item, only the ID property of 'MyWidget1.Widget' gets updated... How do I get the object 'Widget' on 'MyWidget1' to be updated instead of just 'MyWidget1.Widget.ID'?   Hi all, I tried sample example given at this link - Collection View Programming Guide It is simple and it worked. Considering it as a reference I tried a simple application which will show a collection view of web views with some web page displayed over each web view. The model class has two properties: NSString *pageName, and NSURL *pageURL. I then followed each and every step written in tutorial above with required modifications but I was caught in the step - How to bind web view to collection view item? In binding tab it shows three possibilities : Editable, Hidden, Tool tip but none of these is working. Can anyone suggest me way to accomplish my requirement? Thanks, Miraaj

• ASP.NET MVC 2 RC2 Model Binding with NVARCHAR NOT NULL column

  I have a database column defined as NVARCHAR(1000) NOT NULL DEFAULT(N'') - in other words, a non-nullable text column with a default value of blank. I have a model class generated by the Linq-to-SQL Classes designer, which correctly identifies the property as not nullable. I have a TextAreaFor in my view for that property. I'm using UpdateModel in my controller to fetch the value from the form and populate the model object. If I view the web page and leave the text area blank, UpdateModel insists on setting the property to NULL instead of empty string. (Even if I set the value to blank in code prior to calling UpdateModel, it still overwrites that with NULL). Which, of course, causes the subsequent database update to fail. I could check all such properties for NULL after calling UpdateModel, but that seems ridiculous - surely there must be a better way? Please don't tell me I need a custom model binder for such a simple scenario...!
