  • Windowsless property is not working in Firefox ONLY

    Hello, I have created a simple silverlight application to display some text at realtime from xml. The text display using HTML DIV tag. I have added plugin property windowless=true, enablehtmlaccess=true,background=transparent. On Silverlight I have added a Button "Continue" at Top & Bottom, which shows some message on that click. Silverlight Plugin resize based in XML contents.   • IE image map remains clickable behind another div

    I have an Image Map of the United States. When you click on a state, the map fades out and a map of that state appears with an image map of the area codes in the state. In Firefox, Safari, and Chrome, the state map becomes clickable and the United States map becomes unclickable until you close the sate popover. However in Internet Explorer, the United States map remains clickable through the state popover, and I cannot click on any area codes.   • IE is ignoring Z-Index on positioned elements

    IE yet again is proving to be the bane of my existence. The top of a site I'm working on has a horizontal menu, an item of which triggers a pure-CSS menu that is positioned absolute within the parent menu DIV (positioned relative). This places the menu perfectly in both IE and the W3C compliant browsers. The problem arises when I have more positioned elements further down on the page. These are also positioned relative, because there is data inside them that needs to be positioned absolute... again, this displays properly in all browsers I've tested it on. The problem is, that then the top menu is opened, part is obscured by the positioned elements further down the page - in effect, it's positioned BELOW these elements even though there are z-index properties defined on all. (in both the CSS file and inline). The only way to get IE to display this properly is to place the actual HTML for the menu at the bottom of the page, below (in DOM terms) the positioned elements elsewhere on the page. I would only do this as an absolute last resort. All Elements are the same type (div).     i'm having a difficult time understanding how to control the z property of display objects. i know how depth works, but what i don't understand is how i can get the maximum depth, or the number at which the display object just disappears into the background. i assume depth is based on the stage's width and height, and that is why assigning the same depth of the same display object appars mismatched with different stage sizes. so how can i appropriately measure depth?

I got the sidebar DIV to be aligned to the right of the page by doing float: right, but when the text in the sidebar stops the main area takes over the width that should be used by the sidebar. How do I fix this?

    actually i got to the cause of the issue. if you feed the textarea text attribute with an tag that has a valid src url, then for some reason flex will try to render everything as html. Eg, try this: <mx:TextArea id="textArea" width="100%" height="90%" text="<img src='http://url-to-a-valid-img"/> and instead of it rendering it as raw text it will render it as an html. any idea?

  • When does IE7 recompute styles? Doesn't work reliably when a class is added to the body.

    I have an interesting problem here. I'm using a class on the element as a switch to drive a fair amount of layout behavior on my site. If the class is applied, certain things happen, and if the class isn't applied, they don't happen. The relevant CSS is roughly like this: .rightSide { display:none; } .showCommentsRight .rightSide { display:block; width:50%; } .showCommentsRight .leftSide { display:block; width:50%; } And the HTML: <body class="showCommentsRight"> <div class="container"></div> <div class="leftSide"></div> <div class="rightSide"></div> </div> <div class="container"></div> <div class="leftSide"></div> <div class="rightSide"></div> </div> <div class="container"></div> <div class="leftSide"></div> <div class="rightSide"></div> </div> </body> I've simplified things but this is essentially the method. The whole page changes layout (hiding the right side in three different areas) when the flag is set on the body. This works in Firefox and IE8. It does not work in IE8 in compatibility mode. What is fascinating is that if you sit there and refresh the page, the results can vary. It will pick a different section's right side to show. Sometimes it will show only the top section's right side, sometimes it will show the middle. I have tried a validator (to look for malformed html), double css formatting, and making sure my IE7 hack sheet wasn't having an effect. So my question is: * Is there a way that this behavior can be made reliable? * When does IE7 decide to re-do styling? Thanks everyone.
