• OTA plist app install from within phonegap app for iPad

  I am trying to initiate a OTA app install from within a phonegap iPad app. I have tried this: var url = "http://www.example.com/test.plist"; window.open("itms-services://?action=download-manifest&url=" + url, "_blank"); This works in iOS 5 but NOT iOS 6. I have also tried using the ChildBrowser plugin to point to a page with a link to the OTA app install but that doesn't work either. (If I visit the webpage directly from within the native iPad browser, it works fine) Does anyone know how I can initiate a OTA app install from within the phonegap iPad app? (must work in iOS 5 and iOS 6) I am trying to implement an auto update feature within a Ad-Hock iPad app (not through App Store). So when the app detects that there is a new update, it will prompt the user to install the new update and thats where I need this functionality.

  Hi all, I have an entity that has a collection in it. The collection is a OneToMany unidirectional relationship storing who viewed a particular file. The problem I am having is that after I load the entity and try to update the collection, I don't get any errors, but the collection is never updated: Entity: @OneToMany(cascade = CascadeType.PERSIST) @JoinTable protected List<User> users; File Servlet @In private EntityQuery<File> File_findById; ... File file = File_findById(fileId); file.getUsers().add(user); session.update(file); Even though I call session.update(file) and I see stuff in hibernate logs, I don't see anything in the database indicating that it was saved. • SqlServer2008 - Can I Alter a Scalar Function while it is referenced in many places

  We have a scalar function that returns a DateTime. It performs a couple of quick table selects to get its return value. This function is already in use throughout the database - in default constraints, stored procs, etc. I would like to change the implementation of the function (to remove the table hits and make it more efficient) but apparently I can't do that while it is referenced by other objects in the database. Will I actually need to update every object in the database that references it to remove the reference, update the function and then update all those objects to restore the reference to the function? Thanks for any insight you can give.

  I'm adding a new Row to a BindingSource that is Bound to a DataGridView source.AddNew(); After this, use BindingSource to get the newly added row is return the next row in the DataGridView when its sorted. ROW "A" ROW "B" <- myBindingSource.AddNew(); ROW "C" myBindingSource.Current gives ROW "C". (it became the selected row in the DataGridView) I need this because I want to update just the newly added row DataRowView drv = (DataRowView)myBindingSource.Current; myTableAdapter.Update(drv.Row); and not the entire table. myTableAdapter.Update(myDataSet.myTable); and also, I would like to have this newly added line selected in the DataGridView after insertion. is it possible in some way?

• asp.net InsertCommand to return latest insert ID

  Dear all, I'm unable to retrieve the latest inserted id from my SQL Server 2000 db using a typed dataset in asp.NET I have created a tableadapter and I ticked the "Refresh datatable" and "Generate Insert, Update and Delete statements". This auto-generates the Fill and GetData methods, and the Insert, Update, Select and Delete statements. I have tried every possible solution in this thread http://forums.asp.net/t/990365.aspx but I'm still unsuccesfull, it always returns 1(=number of affected rows). I do not want to create a seperate insert method as the auto-generated insertCommand perfectly suits my needs. As suggested in the thread above, I have tried to update the InsertCommand SQL syntax to add SELECT SCOPY_IDENTITY() or something similar, I have tried to add a parameter of type ReturnValue, but all I get is the number of affected rows. Does anyone has a different take on this? Thanks in advance! Stijn

  Hi, I have a php class that generates a map image depending on my db data. It is periodically updated thru a serInterval loop. I am trying to update it with no flickering but I just can't. I've tried different methods (preloader, imageswitcher) with no success. //first load function map() { $("#map").html("<img src=map.php?randval="+Math.random()+">"); } //update it from setInterval calls function updatemap() { $("#map").fadeOut(function() { $(this).load(function() { $(this).fadeIn(); }); $(this).attr("src", "map.php?randval="+Math.random()); }) } Is there any way to update the image with no flickering at all? I would prefer an inmediate swap insteado of a fade. The problem I'm having is that after calling updatemap() the image just dissapears. ¿Maybe it is a problem with the attribute src I am parsing?   How can I determine if a package is a meta-package from the command line, possibly via apt-get, aptitude or apt-cache? I have tried: apt-cache show texlive-full apt-cache showpkg texlive-full but the only way I can tell this package is meta is by reading the "en-description" field. Is there a more automatic way of doing this, that will give me a yes/no response, or at least have a field such as then "en-description" dedicated to this?

  When I right-click in a .EDMX file and click Generate Database From Model, the resulting script is obviously wrong because of the table names. What it generates is the following script. Note the table names in the DROP TABLE part versus the CREATE TABLE part. Why is this inconsistent? This is obviously not a reusable script. What I created was an Entity named "Address" and an Entity named "Company", etc (all singular). The EntitySet names are pluralized. The "Pluralize New Objects" boolean does not change this either. So what's the deal? For what it's worth, I originally generated the EDMX by pointing it to a database that had tables with non-pluralized names and now that I've made some changes, I want to go back the other way. • Updating the datalist in a RadComboBox

  So I'm just struggling with a lot of little things in the web app so I'm checking up with all kinds of stuff to make sure i'm not breaking it cause of stupid problems. At some point in my web app (trying to keep it mostly Asynchronous) I have to update the list in my RadComboBox because something was added. Do I just need to call RadComboBox.DataBind() again? Since I don't explicitly use its datasource(I do it in the manual insert using a string fashion) object to insert my new record do I need to tell that to update? The list just doesn't seem to update when i just call databind so I feel like i need to have the datasource recheck for entries or SOMETHING Thanks

  I have a SwingWorker as follows: public class MainWorker extends SwingWorker(Void, MyObject) { : : } I invoked the above Swing Worker from EDT: MainWorker mainWorker = new MainWorker(); mainWorker.execute(); Now, the mainWorker creates 10 instances of a MyTask class so that each instance will run on its own thread so as to complete the work faster. But the problem is I want to update the gui from time to time while the tasks are running. I know that if the task was executed by the mainWorker itself, I could have used publish() and process() methods to update the gui. But as the tasks are executed by threads different from the Swingworker thread, how can I update the gui from intermediate results generated by threads executing tasks.

• Kickstart file is ignored by the installer

  I have fallowed this guide to create a kickstart file to install ubuntu automatically. However the problem is that when I boot the menu item label autoinstall menu label ^Auto install kernel /casper/vmlinuz append file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu.seed boot=casper initrd=/casper/initrd.lz file=/cdrom/ks.cfg -- it doesn't start the installer. I've tried using automatic-ubiquity as one of the parameters, but still it seems that kickstart file isn't used. Is there a way to make this work, or is there another way (preferably without using network, like FAI).

  I am trying to use an update trigger in sql 2000 so that when an update occurs, I insert a row into a history table, so I retain all history on a table: CREATE Trigger trUpdate_MyTable ON MyTable FOR UPDATE AS INSERT INTO [MyTableHistory] ( [AuditType] ,[MyTable_ID] ,[Inserted] ,[LastUpdated] ,[LastUpdatedBy] ,[Vendor_ID] ,[FromLocation] ,[FromUnit] ,[FromAddress] ,[FromCity] ,[FromProvince] ,[FromContactNumber] ,[Comment]) SELECT [AuditType] = 'U', D.* FROM deleted D JOIN inserted I ON I.[ID] = D.[ID] GO Of course, I get an error "Cannot use text, ntext, or image columns in the 'inserted' and 'deleted' tables." I tried joining to MyTable instead of deleted, but because the insert triger fires after the insert, it ends up inserting the new record into the history table, when I want the original record. How can I do this and still use text columns?

  I'm trying to do a simple UPDATE ...   I have a post-update hook on my server, such that when I git push it does a pull on the live web directory. However, while the push always succeeds, the post-update hook sometimes fails. The hook is pretty simple: #!/bin/sh # # An example hook script to prepare a packed repository for use over # dumb transports. # # To enable this hook, rename this file to "post-update". cd /var/www env -i git pull I'm pushing updates from a variety of places, but sometimes I have to login as root on the server and manuall do a env -i git pull I only have to do it 20% of the time though.   Hello Hoping that using something like this demo it is possible to drag items within and between two columns, and update their order either live or with a "save" button to MySQL. • ListView adapter data change without ListView being notified

  I've written a ListActivity that has a custom list adapter. The list is being updated from a ContentProvider when onCreate is run. I also have a service that gets started when I run the app and it first updates the ContentProvider, then sends a Broadcast that the content has been updated. My ListActivity recieves the broadcast and tries to update my ListView. My problem is, I'm getting intermittent errors about the ListView adapter data changing without the ListView being notified. I call the notifyDataSetChanged() method on my list adapter right after I update it. What it seems like is happening is the list is still in the process of being updated after first call in onCreate when it recieves the broadcast from the service to update, so it tries to update my ListView before it's finished updating from it's first run. Does this make sense? Here is some of my code. • svn reintegrate a branch with externals fails

  using svn 1.6.6 with tortoisesvn 1.6.6 what I am doing: 1) Apply external properties to a folder in the trunk (both single file and folder external, externals are binary files) 2) Create a branch from the trunk and update the entire project 3) Modify a file on the branch and commit the changes, then update the entire project. 4) Merge - "Reintegrate a branch" when I get to the last screen I click "test merge" and get this error: Error: Cannot reintegrate into mixed-revision working copy; try updating first I update the entire project and still the same error. other observations: If I "Merge a range of revisions" everything works fine. If I remove the externals everything works fine using either "Merge a range of revisions" or "Reintegrate a branch" Anyone else having this issue?

• Python GUI Scraper hanging issues.

  I wrote a scraper using python a while back, and it worked fine in the command line. I have made a GUI for the application now, but I am having trouble with one issue. When I attempt to update text inside the gui (e.g. 'fetching URL 12/50'), I am unable seeing as the function within the scraper is grabbing 100+ links. Also when going from one scraping function, to a function that should update the gui, to another function, the gui update function seems to be skipped over while the next scrape function is run. An example would be: scrapeLinksA() #takes 20 seconds updateInfo("LinksA done") scrapeLinksB() #takes another 20 seconds in the above example, updateInfo is never executed, unless I end the program with a KeyboardInterrupt. I'm thinking my solution is threading, but I'm not sure. What can I do to fix this? I am using: PyQt4 urllib2 BeautifulSoup

  I'm working on comparison for several different methods of implementing (real or fake) multithreading in JavaScript. As far as I know only webworkers and Google Gears WorkerPool can give you real threads (ie. spread across multiple processors with real parallel execution). I've found the following methods: switch between tasks using yield() use setInterval() (or other non-blocking function) with threads waiting one for another use Google Gears WorkerPool threads (with plugin) use html5 web workers I read related questions and found several variations of the above methods, but most of those questions are old, so there might be a few new ideas. I'm wondering - how else can you achieve multithreading in JavaScript? Any other important methods? UPDATE: As pointed out in comments what I really meant was concurrency. UPDATE 2: I found information that Silverlight + JScript supports multithreading, but I'm unable to verify this.
