• how to make a universal iphone/ipad app programmatically, navigation controller for iphone and spli

  I couldn't find a good answer anywhere. I am using a UINavigationController for my iphone app and everything is done 100% programmatically no xibs. So i am trying to port my app to ipad, i tried to use a UISplitViewController and link my existing tableView and etc.. Now, i am not sure where should i have the logic of my program separating the viewcontroller for iphone or ipad.. do i setup my main file to use a different appdelegate or i use a same appdelegae and have the condition set up there ? now beside this, whenever i try to complile my app on the simulator it does not recognize the uisplitview and even the condition in which i check if the class exists. can please someone put me in the right direction.. and remember i am not using xibs?

• updating score in card game

  I am a total beginner with python. I need help updating the score of a card game. The scoring works as follows: Player A or B has a pair: score += 1 Player A asks Player B (vice versa) for a card and that player has it: score += 1 Player B doesn't have it, Player A has to draw a card. If there is pair after draw: score += 2 I have the logic down but I don't really know how to connect it together. I tried manually adding the scores in my functions, but it get's messy and complicated :( I assume I would have to make a new function for the score and call them in my other functions? I would appreciate the guidance, Thank-you!

  I'm using ants propertyregex method to change a property and it works fine up to a point. I'm lossing return characters. Here's what I'm trying to change: cluster.path=\ ${nbplatform.active.dir}/harness:\ ${nbplatform.active.dir}/platform:\ ${nbplatform.active.dir}/nb This is in a .properties file. So I'm trying to change it like this: <propertyregex property="cluster.path" input="${cluster.path}" regexp="nbplatform.active.dir" replace="xplatform.base" global="true" override="true"/> The stuff is replaced but I get: cluster.path= ${xplatform.base}/harness\: ${xplatform.base}/platform\: ${xplatform.base}/nb This brakes logic down the line not controlled by me (Netbeans) that uses the ':' as delimiter. Any idea?

In first stage: Dynamic Data But the community size, books absence and the last modification dates of the MSDN articles (~July 2008) makes me want to hear your experiences. (actually DynamicData comes as a part of the ASP.Net MVC2 project) What has been your experience with Dynamic Data? And... What is your favorite ASP.Net RAD alternative? Why?   How to read strings from the MyResource.resx file from c#. I am not calling this from the asp.net page, rather i am calling from my bussiness logic. • Lightweight .NET web development?

  Fellow stack overflowers, I'm currently working on a project that has a sizable amount of both client and web code. The client code is written in C# and the web piece is written in PHP. Maintaining consistency between the two worlds is becoming cumbersome, and I want consolidate the web code to .Net. The issue is that I hate web development in ASP.Net Web Forms. I want something as raw as PHP, just using C# instead. I've read a little about ASP.Net MVC, but it looks like it abstracts too much of the request logic for my liking. Does anyone know of a lightweight way to allow C# + .Net to handle web requests? Should I be looking more closely at MVC? Thanks in advance, -- Breck

• Spring roo Vs (Wicket and Spring)

  Spring roo is new framework and I found it very interesting. I have been working on web application for last 3-4 years and Always found JSPs are hard to maintain across teams if everyone is not disciplined enough about separation of markup and serverside logic. I have used JackBe/BackBase in last projects and I enjoyed xml templates working as views. This was much better than JSPs. But I couldnt automate webtests through selenium for backbase. I would be surely using Spring MVC (-view), Hibernate on the backend. I found Wicket as good alternative. Have you used wicket along with Spring and what was your experience?

  I can't get around this for quite sometime now. As I read along manuals and tutorials I'm getting more confused. I want an if statement with the following logic: if [ -n $drupal_version ] && [[ "$drupal_version" =~ DRUPAL-[6-9]-[1-9][1-9] ]]; then but I can't get it to work properly. When the script is evaluated using the "bash -x ... " script construct, works ok but when is run as a regular script my expression is not evaluated (eventhough the above condition should be met the else part is run). Could you provide any help?

  Hi, I am trying to test a WPF application using the UI-Automation framework that MSFT provides. There were a few powershell scripts written that invoked the cmdlets created to manipulate the visual controls of the application. There is a DropDown within my application that has an entry 'DropDownEntry'. In my cmdlet, I am trying to do something as follows: AutomationElement getItem = DropDown.FindFirst(TreeScope.Descendants, new AndCondition( new PropertyCondition(AutomationElement.ControlTypeProperty,ControlType.ListItem), new PropertyCondition(AutomationElement.NameProperty, "DropDownEntry",PropertyConditionFlags.IgnoreCase))); The above given snippet returns 'null' upon execution which essentially means that the above given logic was unable to find my dropdown entry. Can somebody tell me why this might be happening? I checked the name of my control and the values. Everything seems to be in order. I am not sure why this would be happening. • Trying to access App.config file for mail settings but fails to work.

  Hello we have a Business Logic Layer which has an Email Services Class. In this class we have a method which will create an email(This part works and compiles fine). However when we try to access the app config file in order to test the method we get an error saying - Can't retrieve the app config mail settings and says all values are null when they are not. But under XP the logic contained within FireAttackProc gets executed but none of the sound clips play. Is there a quick solution to this so the sound will play under XP? I ask for a quick solution because i am happy being able to execute fully in Vista/Win7 but would be great if there was a quick solution so it would be XP compitable also. Thank you.

• Is it possible to interop with Thunderbird using C#?

  Here's the latest hurdle in my ongoing quest to automate my job: All email in the company goes through 4 different email adresses, switching randomly back and forth (with a note attached in the global share: please set "keep email on server") All logic related to email is contained in a nice big Thunderbird profile, which gets copied back and forth to new machines; this includes sorting invoices into 5 different "folders", the list of VIP adresses to send notifications, and the VIP level of those customers I only need the contents of those folders (the attachments, anyway) The question: is there a way to ask Thunderbird for those attachments and lists from C#? Alternatively, can Outlook be set up to synchronize with Thunderbird? Where do I start reading? Ditching Thunderbird is not an option right now, I need to keep up with changes to the VIP list. P.S. I will set up a real email server right after Monkey saves me enough time to convince people about it.

Update Because no one seems to understand how i thought the algorithm, i'll explain: If the dividend contains only one term, we simply insert the quotient in Result, then we multiply it with the divisor ans subtract it from the first polynomial which stores the remainder. If the polynomial we do this until the second polynomial( P in this case) becomes bigger. I think this algorithm is called long division, isn't it? So based on these, can anyone help me with overloading the / operator correctly for my class? Thanks!

  Are there exceptions for types which can't have thier assignment operator overloaded? Specifically, I'm wanting to overload the assignment operator of a struct tm (from time.h) so I can assign a sql::ResultSet to it. • ASP.Net security using Operations Based Security

  All the security stuff I have worked with in the past in ASP.Net for the most part has been role based. This is easy enough to implement and ASP.Net is geared for this type of security model. However, I am looking for something a little more fine grained than simple role based security. Essentially I want to be able to write code like this: if(SecurityService.CanPerformOperation("SomeUpdateOperation")){ // perform some update logic here } I would also need row level security access like this: if(SecurityService.CanPerformOperation("SomeViewOperation", SomeEntityIdentifier)){ // Allow user to see specific data } Again, fine grained access control. Is there anything like this already built? Some framework that I can drop into ASP.Net and start using, or am I going to have to build this myself?

• QObject cloning

  I know that Qobjects are supposed to be identities not values eg you cannot copy them and by default the copy constructor and asignment are disabled as explained in qt documentation. But is it possible to create a new Qobject from an existing one using a clone method? Would this be a logic error ? If i say QObject b; QObject a; b.cloneFrom(a); or QObject a = new QBject(); QObject b = new QBject(); b->cloneFrom(a); and the clone method copyes stuff like members etc would this be wrong? And if this is ok can i write my own copy constructor and asignment operator that does just that? Note: i actually want to try this with classes that inherit qobject.

After reading the documentation about how to select and alternative form builder the logical solution for me seemed to be something like this. • JavaScript setTimeout setInterval within one function

  I think I might be overtired but I cannot for the life of me make sense of this, and I think it's due to a lack of knowledge of javascript var itv=function(){ return setInterval(function(){ sys.puts('interval'); }, 1000); } var tout=function(itv){ return setTimeout(function(){ sys.puts('timeout'); clearInterval(itv); }, 5500); } With these two functions I can call a=tout(itv()); and get a looping timer to run for 5.5 seconds and then exit, essentially. • MVC2: Best Way to Intercept ViewRequest and Alter ActionResult

  I'm building an ASP.NET MVC2 Web Application that requires some sophisticated authentication and business logic that cannot be achieved using the out of the box forms authentication. I'm new to MVC so bear with me... My plan was to mark all restricted View methods with one or more custom attributes (that contain additional data). The controller would then override the OnActionExecuting method to intercept requests, analyze the target view's attributes, and do a variety of different things, including re-routing the user to different places. I have the interception and attribute analysis working, but the redirection is not working as expected. I have tried setting the ActionExecutingContext.Result to null and even have tried spooling up controllers via reflection and invoking their action methods. No dice. I was able to achieve it this way... protected override void OnActionExecuting(ActionExecutingContext filterContext) { filterContext.HttpContext.Response.Redirect("/MyView", false); base.OnActionExecuting(filterContext); } This seems like a hack, and there has to be a better way...

  Hello all. I'm building a source code search engine, and I'm returning the results on a HTML page (aspx to be exact, but the view logic is in HTML). When someone searches a string, I also return the whole line of code where this string can be found in a file. However, some lines of code come from HTML/aspx files and these lines contain HTML specific comments (). When I try to print this line on the HTML page, it interprets it as a comment and does not show it on the screen....how should I go about solving this so that it actually shows up?
