Did you put it all in the LDAP or did you link it with information in the application?     I have a large number of points (indexed by long) that are processed by multiple threads and I'm using a buffer to hold the output results in order. As the number of points processed is huge, what would be an efficient way to map the indexes of the points to the corresponding ordered position in the buffer ?   • What are some practical uses of generating all permutations of a list, such as ['a', 'b', 'c'] ?

    I was asked by somebody in an interview for web front end job, to write a function that generates all permutation of a string, such as "abc" (or consider it ['a', 'b', 'c']). so the expected result from the function, when given ['a', 'b', 'c'], is abc acb bac bca cab cba Actually in my past 20 years of career, I have never needed to do something like that, especially when doing front end work for web programming. What are some practical use of this problem nowadays, in web programming, front end or back end, I wonder? As a side note, I kind of feel that expecting a result in 3 minutes might be "either he gets it or he doesn't", especially I was thinking of doing it by a procedural, non-recursive way at first. After the interview, I spent another 10 minutes and thought of how to do it using recursion, but expecting it to be solved within 3 minutes... may not be a good test of how qualified he is, especially for front end work.

  • Is there a definitive list of uri patterns for use in android apps made by google?

    Apart from http://developer.android.com/guide/appendix/g-app-intents.html (which is quite good but fairly limited in the number of apps/uri's it covers) I've been unable to find a decent reference source for looking up URI's to use when integrating with google apps. I'm currently working on triggering the "add new contact" UI, and have found that the tel: uri pattern seems to work, but what if I only have a name and an email? I wouldn't have expected I'd need to rely on sample code / trial and error, but I really can't see anywhere where the intent/URI interface is supposed to be documented in android apps. Does such a standard exist? Is there some quasi standard / user database that I can consult? On a platform with such a good inter-interoperability architecture it just seems like something so useful I can't believe it's not there

  • How do I add the go language to gitg's list of viewable sources?

    Hoping a 'git' guru will help out here. I am just beginning to "git" for the first time and have (among other things :-) ) git and gitg installed from Ubuntu 10.4 / AMD64 distribution (ie. maybe not 'latest' version but not ancient). I am trying to look at the go code I've committed via gitg and in the "tree tab" it says :Cannot display file content as text. However, the "details tab" shows the diffs of the same file just fine. I know gitg's "tree tab" is working because I can use the tree view on *.c / *.html / *.txt etc just fine. Is there a way to tweak gitg into understanding that "*.go" is just text? A little more context: Installed gitg version is 0.0.5 - ie a version behind latest - 0.0.6 - source of which I am looking thru now. I do have a working /usr/share/gtksourceview-2.0/language-specs/ go.lang. It works just fine as highlighter in gedit. It appears that gitg may require displayable files to have a mime type of "text/plain", so I added that to go.lang No joy. gitg still fails on *.go I'm relatively sure the fix is simple, just don't know where to look.

    We can create a function p in the following code: var p = function() { }; if (typeof(console) != 'undefined' && console.log) { p = function() { console.log(arguments); }; } but the arguments are passed like an array to console.log, instead of passed one by one as in console.log(arguments[0], arguments[1], arguments[2], ... Is there a way to expand the arguments and pass to console.log like the way above? Note that if the original code were var p = function() { }; if (typeof(console) != 'undefined' && console.log) { p = console.log; } then it works well on Firefox and IE 8 but not on Chrome.

So, here's what I have so far ... module = txtModule.value presstype = txtPressType.value SQL_query = "SELECT * FROM tbl_spareparts WHERE '"& module &"' <> '""' AND '"& module &"' = '"& presstype &"' AND Manufacturer = '"& txtsrch.value &"' ORDER BY SAP_Part_No" Set rsData = conn.Execute(SQL_query) This brings up the following SQL statement: SELECT * FROM tbl_spareparts WHERE 'Banyan_Module' <> '"' AND 'Banyan_Module' = 'PB' AND Manufacturer = 'Tester' ORDER BY SAP_Part_No Is there any way I can use the module variable as a column name - obviously the ''s around the column name are causing an error.     Hi, I am using the jquery-ui library. I have two sortables. I want to know the index of the dragged source item. I have something like this: $(function() { $("#sortable1, #sortable2").sortable({ connectWith: '.connectedSortable' }).disableSelection(); $("#sortable1").sortable({ start: function(event, ui) { alert(ui.position); } }); }); if I'm reading the docs correctly, then ui.position should be what I want?: ui.position - current position of the helper but when I jsut try printing it: alert(ui.position) it seems to be empty.   • Drupal, Views.. how to display views list + complete node, interactively ?

    hi, I'm using Views in Drupal to show node teasers. I would like now to show the complete node on the left side of my page, nearby the Views, and update it when the user click on a different teaser (better using AJAX). what's the best method to implement it. I was considering to use a lightbox, but it a bit complex (a lot of complications... such as parsing the content with javascript again.. etc).     Given a collection IEnumerable<Type> supportedTypes What's the best way to check whether a given object is one of those types (or a derived type)? My first instinct was to do something like: // object target is a parameter passed to the method in which I'm doing this. if (supportedTypes.Count( supportedType => target is supportedType ) > 0) { // Yay my object is of a supported type!!! } ..but that doesn't seem to be working. Can I not use the "is" keyword in a lambda expression like this?

    I have a method for reading JSON from a service, I'm using Gson to do my serialization and have written the following method using type parameters. public T getDeserializedJSON(Class<T> aClass,String url) { Reader r = getJSONDataAsReader(url); Gson gson = new Gson(); return gson.fromJson(r, aClass); } I'm consuming json which returns just an array of a type e.g. [ { "prop":"value" } { "prop":"value" } ] I have a java class which maps to this object let's call it MyClass. However to use my method I need to do this: RestClient<ArrayList<MyClass>> restClient = new RestClient<ArrayList<MyClass>>(); ArrayList<MyClass> results = restClient.getDeserializedJSON(ArrayList<MyClass>.class, url); However, I can't figure out the syntax to do it. Passing just ArrayList.class doesn't work. So is there a way I can get rid of the Class parameter or how do I get the class of the ArrayList of MyClass?
