• dotnet nuke error

  Hi there im trying to degub a dot net nuke server error and im not sure where to start. I dnt have the code locally else I could debug (no that im familiar the dnn setup). This bug affects making cms updates to the site with the message 'A critical error has occured', I have been unsuccessfully trying to find out the cause and im finally throwing up my hands, I dont even need a fix , I just want to find out what is causing the error so I can provide an estimate for a fix and I can even seem to do that. I have tried looking at the logs but nothing seems to be logged about this error, is there a way to turn off custom error handling so as to get some clues as what the cause of this bug is? any suggestions would be welcome as i am getting desperate here :)

  Hello. I get the error when i'm trying to open a database in PocketPC emulator or from the program with connection's Open() method(C#)..Here it is: Description: Internal error: SQL Server Compact made an unsupported request to the host operating system. Can someone explain what can cause this error to appear. The database and application are on Storage Card(shared folder from PC, on which Everyone has read/write permissions)Thank you. FOUND that its because of storing DB on Storage Card(after moving database to 'My Documents' error disappears), but still don't know the reason of error.

  Hi at all guys, hope someone is using Mono & monodevelop... i'm getting the following error when i try to compile an ASP.NET apps ported from vs.net 2008 Error VBNC99999: Unexpected error: The classes in the module cannot be loaded. (VBNC99999) This is the only error i get. I'm using 4 external assembly / dll AjaxControlToolkit.dll FusionCharts.dll MySql.Data.dll PostBackRitalin.dll I've added the dll in bin directory, then i've referenced it. I'm using Mono, because on my "old" computer (acer aspire t2300 buyed in 2007) run with linux & with monodevelop very well. With windows, visual studio is reeeeeeally slow.. so i decide to pass to mono.. Can somenone know something about that error ? Thank you very much. Regards !

• How to hide a Mono application on the OSX Dock

  I have a Mono application that should not show on the dock, but will occasionally show a window. I want neither menu bar nor dock icon to show for this application. I have my application wrapped in an app bundle, and my info.plist file has the LSUIElement set to "1". This does not seem to be hiding my application from the Dock. I have tried also calling osascript with the following info in a Process.Start: osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to set visible of process "myapp" to false' This returns a System Event error code: -10006. Thus far, I've had no luck finding out what that means. I've also tried all the standard Hide() and Visibility = false stuff inside Mono. Anyone found a workaround for this, or have an idea a direction I can look in? For the most part, working in Mono has been straightforward .Net coding, but this has me stumped.

So it makes long running requests. While waiting a response for this request, other requests can be made concurrently. The application works in most cases. But sometimes some clients get HTTP request error executing long running request: faultCode:Server.Error.Request faultString:'HTTP request error' faultDetail:'Error: [IOErrorEvent type="ioError" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="Error #2032"]. URL: 'http://example.com/ws' I think it depends on user's browser. Any ideas?

• Sharepoint SSRS: Unexpected Error Encountered

  We are running an intranet website hosted on Sharepoint 2007, serving reports to users via SSRS. Recently, our users are experiencing error when trying to access certain reports with the error message "An unexpected error has occurred". After trying many things, to cut a long story short we manage to temporarily solve the problem by manually running UPDATE STATISTICS on the tables in the database. However, this error will periodically crop up again and again, running UPDATE STATISTICS immediately solved it. I had suggested to run a daily job in the server to auto run UPDATE STATISTICS every few hours or so but was rejected by my team lead. Is there any other workaround for this error? Why does UPDATE STATISTICS solve the problem, I still not very understand?

• Weird Facebooker Plugin & Pushion Passenger ModRails Production Error

  I have an application (Rails 2.3.5) that I'm deploying to production Linux/Apache server using the latest Phushion Passenger/Apache Module 2.2.11 version. After deploying my original application, it returns a 500 error with no logging to production log. So I created a minimal test rails application, with some active record calls to the database to print out a list of objects to the home controller/my index page. I also cleared out all plugins. That works fine in the production environment. Then I one by one introduced each plugin that I'm using one at a time. Every plugin works fine EXCEPT facebooker. Every time I load the facebooker plugin into my app/vendor/plugins directory (via script git etc) my test application break (500 error - no error logging). Everytime I remove the facebooker plugin my test application works. Has anyone seen this before/ have any solutions? I saw this solution but didn't see it in the facebooker code.

• How to debug .net error where message is masked in Ajax call

  Hi, I'm currently working on a page which makes use of the MS Ajax UpdatePanel. However I've run into a strange problem. If I simply compile and view my page, one of the button click events results in an error. However, because the button affects items inside an UpdatePanel the actual exception is hidden from me: all I'm getting is a HTTP 500 error returned to me through the UpdatePanel Javascript. What's odd about this is that if I step through the code line by line in Visual Studio, I don't get the error. The button doesn't cause the behaviour I'm expecting, but it throws no errors. Because the step through isn't causing an error to be thrown, I'm at a loss how I can get to the actual exception message so I can find out where the error is being thrown and debug it.   I need some suggestions for how to implement a very basic mechanism that logs what multiple users are doing in an application. When another feature is running I then need to change the application, to restrict functionality. Use Case Example User can normaly edit unpaid records. If the application then runs a Payrun process (Long), I need to then change parts of the application to restrict functionality for a short period of time (eg. Make existing unpaid records readonly). Any suggestions on how I can do this in a .net application?

But I'm facing problem when i'm trying to bring up the search view and also when trying to go back to the previous page with the selected cell content.My application is a Tab Bar Application. What My application need is just like the built in clock application in iPhone.   Hi all, I am making my first web application with ASP.NET and I am having a rough time. I have previously created the application I am working on as a Windows Form application and it works great, but I am having problems with the HTML side of things in the web application. My issues are pretty minor, but very annoying. I have worked with websites before and CSS, but as far as I can tell I do not have direct access to a CSS when creating a web application in VS 2008. My biggest issue is the positioning of components that I have dragged onto the "Default.aspx" form. For instance, how am I supposed to float a panel next to another one if I don't have a CSS, or how am I to correctly position a label?

  I wanted to know if theres a way to send a JSON data along with HTTP response code 500. Basically I want my rest client to know that there is some error on the backend and along with it send a JSON error data structure like this. {"error" : [ {"code": "1001", "desc": "Some error description"}, {"code": "1002", "desc": "Some other error description"} ] } This is using the following java stack = Java 6/JAX-RS/Jersey/Tomcat If not, then is there a way to send a custom response code along with JSON data. Basically looking from JAX-RS API it looks that you can only send JSON data along with 200 OK?? Any thoughts?? I am guessing RESTEasy would be the same, right??

  My maven build started failing randomly, and it got the following error which I cannot make sense of, and googling it doesn't give me anything useful: [echo] Creating a full package...   I have a facebook application that is published at facebook platform and i used facebook API to invite friends and i have succeeded in creating invitation form but the problem is that when u invite friend and send invitation and the invitation request sent to the user and the user accept it this friend appears again in the friend list that can be invited again For example : i have friend in my friend list named X and when i send invitation to him the invitation is sent and and X accept the invitation and when i try to send invitation again the friend X appears again in the list that i can select from to send invitation this means that may i send an invitation to this user (X) and he is already playing the game i need to know how to fix this problem so friends appear in the friend list (for invitation )only friends that not use the application. But i get the following error when i try to run/build the project (in netbeans, using WTK 3.0) Error preverifying class com.maverick.events.J2SSHEventMessages VERIFIER ERROR com/maverick/events/J2SSHEventMessages.class$(Ljava/lang/String;)Ljava/lang/Class;: Cannot find class java/lang/NoClassDefFoundError I get the same error when i use eclipse (error in preverifying stage). Any pointers ? There are more than one NoClassDefFoundErrors in the preverifying stage. Am i using the wrong .jar file ?

I want to display parts of the error object in an except block (similar to the err object in VBScript, which has Err.Number and Err.Description). • Need better Java application deployment strategy

  I have various Java Swing applications that are used by multiple users. My deployment strategy is to locate the .jar file on a network share, and users create shortcuts to that file. When the user launches an application, the file is copied to their machine and executed locally. This method allows for a single copy of the code and easy updating. The problem is that I can't update the file on the network share if any user is using the application at that time. I can't use Web Start because I don't have access to a cert for signing the jar. My current workaround is a separate application that copies the desired app to the user's local machine, launches the application, and then the launcher exits. There is a several second delay from when the launcher app exits and the user's app becomes visible. Can anyone suggest a better deployment method where I can easily update a central copy of the application, one where Windows XP won't maintain a lock on the file?

  My custom controls are not loading in VS.NET's designer because of a null reference exception. It's got everything to do with the way I am retrieving the baseUri of the application when it runs in the browser: _uriPrefix = Application.Current.Host.Source.AbsoluteUri.Substring(0, Application.Current.Host.Source.AbsoluteUri.IndexOf("/ClientBin")).Trim(); According to the exception details and the help file I'm directed to (here) I'm not correctly designing my app for a runtime that's not the browser (i.e. the new WPF editor in VS.NET or Expression Blend). So, the question is how do retrieve the baseUri (the http://localhost:#### part of my application) if I can't use Application.Host which apparently is null during design time? is there a safe way to do this so I can load my custom controls in a designer?

  Hi All, I'm having trouble with paths in a ASP.NET MVC application that's running behind a proxy. Our IIS Application root path is for example http://server/MyApp/ meaning that all urls using the application root ("~/",Url.Action("MyAction","MyController")) are resolved to "/MyApp" Now we're running behind a proxy server that forwards all requests, but changes the application root to something like this: "/Secury/Proxy/RubbishUrl/MyApp" Because the original url is only available on the client, I thought of creating a cookie with the path prefix, and insert this before each generated URL on the server. Now the question is, what's the best location in code to modify each URL that's resolved/sent to the client (to resources, controller actions, images etc)? Every path in the application is resolved with the MVC methods (Url.Content, Url.Action etc).

• NSString stringWithContentsOfFile failing with what seems to be the wrong error code

  Hello. I'm trying to load a file into a string. Here is the code I'm using: NSError *error = nil; NSString *fullPath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:filename ofType:@"html"]; NSString *text = [NSString stringWithContentsOfFile:fullPath encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding error:&error]; When passed in @"about" as the filename, it works absolutely fine, showing the code works. When passed in @"eula" as the filename, it fails with 'Cocoa error 258', which translates to NSFileReadInvalidFileNameError. However, if I swap the contents of the files over but keep the names the same, the other file fails proving there is nothing wrong with the filename, it's something to do with the content. The about file is fairly simple HTML but the eula file is a massive mess exported from Word by the legal department. Does anyone know of anything inside a HTML file that could cause this error to be raised? Much thanks, Sam

• Keeping the application state - deploy/install apk

  I'm trying to have my application minimized when paused and then when it's resumed, it should be restored to its previous state, not recreated. This works perfectly when deploying the application on a device/emulator from Eclipse. The problem occurs when I get the apk (either from bin\ or from Project - Android tools - Export signed application package) and install it on a device with a file browser (Astro): the application is destroyed when paused and then recreated. I can call moveTaskToBack(true); in my activity, yet it will still be recreated when launching it. All the discussions around this are based on achieving the opposite: closing the application when minimizing it. Is there any way of achieving what I want?

• Eclipse error: This project needs to migrate WTP metadata

  We started a Web Project in Eclipse 3.2 a ways back and we've since upgraded to Eclipse 3.4 but now the Project has the error: "This project needs to migrate WTP metadata" We've tried right-clicking and doing the "quick-fix" which is in fact to Migrate WTP Metadata. Unfortunately nothing happens and the error remains. We can delete that error from the Problems and everything works as it should, however, every time we re-import the project from source control, the error re-appears. Any ideas on how to permanently get rid of this error or how to ACTUALLY migrate WTP metadata? UPDATE: Everyone, please vote on the answer that works for you rather than adding your own answer that references a previous person's answer.
