• Loading external content with jquery or iframe?

  Hiho, There's an existing website that i need to include into another site which goes like this: a.mysite.com and i need to fetch content from this site in my www.mysite.com website... As i need to access the content of the iframe the Same origin policy produces a problem here. What i did was to configure mod_proxy on Apache to proxy pass all requests from www.mysite.com/a to a.mysite.com This will work fine...but my problem is that im not sure what the best way would be to include those pages. 1. Idea As the content of the iframe is a full featured site with a top navigation...left navigation etc....i would need to change the page template to only show the content box to be able to integrate that page in the iframe. 2. Idea I could just load the DIV where the content lies through JQuery.load() and integrate it into my site. What is the best way to accomplish such a task? How bad is both ideas from the SEO point of view?

• PHP / XHTML. Should I place everything in echo tags?

  A quick question involving PHP development, I seem to be wondering about this more and more as I develop more complex sites. Basically say we have a basic PHP / XHTML inbox (messaging system). I perform checks at the top (check if user is logged in, check if user has correct permissions etc). Then use the 'header('location:www.abc.com)' function if the authentication fails. The question is do I write the rest of the inbox code in a huge 'else' block or just use standard html. I read somewhere about about it being bad to put any code after using the 'header' function.

• Declaring two classes that contain instance variables of each others' types.

  Let’s say you wish to have two classes like so, each declaring an instance variable that is of the other’s class. @interface A : NSObject { B *something; } @end @interface B : NSObject { A *something; } @end It seems to be impossible to declare these classes with these instance variables. In order for A to include an IV of class B, B must already be compiled, and so its @interface must come before A’s. But A’s must be put before B’s for the same reason. Putting the two class declarations in separate files, and #import-ing each other’s .h doesn’t work either, for obvious reasons. So, what is the solution? Or is this either (1) impossible or (2) indicative of a bad design anyway?

• Eclipse 3.5 (Cocoa) slowing down irregularly after some time

  Hi, I'd like to hear, if anyone else encounters the same problems, and doesn't use Google's GWT (2.0) plugins: Sometimes, my Eclipse 3.5 (Cocoa) slows down after some time of usage (=30 minutes), so that things like maximizing an editor or moving the splitters becomes unbearably slow (reacting only after several seconds). After an Eclipse restart, everything's fine again. I'm not running low on memory (neither free RAM, nor memory available to Eclipse - Heap/Stack/PermGenSpace), and my system specs are not too bad. I know exactly one other person so far, who sees the same problem - but he also uses the GWT plugins. Since these issues appear irregularly, they're hard to track. Before creating an issue on the GWT bug tracker, I'd like to find out, if this also happens for somebody without Google's plugins. Thanks, Chris Edit: I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.2

• Main page content populated on the fly?

  Is there any reason to NOT have a webpage retrieve it's main content on the fly? For example, I have a page that has a header and a footer, and in the middle of this page is an empty div. When you click on one of the buttons in the header, an http GET is done behind the scenes and the .innerHTML() of the empty div is replaced with the result. I can't think of any reason why this might be a bad idea, but I can't seem to find any pages out there that do it? Please advise!

• Migrating an Access Database into SharePoint 2007.

  To my surprise and delight I read that an adminsitrator can import (nearly directly) an Access 2007 database into a sharepoint site. Automagically, the database in transformed into lists and views with some table lookup thrown in for good measure. With Access 2007 installed on the client machine, even the forms and what not can still be reused. To me... this sounds to good to be true. Has anyone actually dones this? With all this good news, where is the bad stuff and pitfalls to this. Depending on the size of the database, wouldn't this some how "gum up the works" in the SharPoint database? • int vs const int&

  I've noticed that I usually use constant references as return values or arguments. I think the reason is that it works almost the same as using non-reference in the code. But it definitely takes more space and function declarations become longer. I'm OK with such code but I think some people my find it a bad programming style. What do you think? Is it worth writing const int& over int? I think it's optimized by the compiler anyway, so maybe I'm just wasting my time coding it, a?

• char '0x8' what character is this?

  I have a large amount of data in a database. When I attempt to read a certain portion of the data and generate some xml and send it to a webservice I get the following exception... The char '0x8' in 'java.lang.IllegalArgumentException'. I'm guessing it is some bad data, as it has worked perfectly for about 7 months but now some user uploaded some new data that seems to have some issues. Anyone know what character this is so I can just run a sql query and clean it from the db? Thanks in advance.

• The pImpl idiom and Testability

  The pImpl idiom in c++ aims to hide the implementation details (=private members) of a class from the users of that class. However it also hides some of the dependencies of that class which is usually regarded bad from a testing point of view. For example if class A hides its implementation details in Class AImpl which is only accessible from A.cpp and AImpl depends on a lot of other classes, it becomes very difficult to unit test class A since the testing framework has no access to the methods of AImpl and also no way to inject dependency into AImpl. This has been a problem for me lately and I am beginning to think that the pImpl idiom and writing testable code don't mix well. Has anyone come across this problem before? and have you found a solution?

So... i've got an image gallery with thumbs, and everything goes well.. except... when i click on the first image... it shows - ok, but i can go to the next image by clicking "next". It's loading all the time. When i choose second image... everything is allright, and i can skip to the next images... but i also cannot go back to the first one.

  I just answered a question where I advised removing parentheses around a statement and was asked why, to which I had no answer when I realised that it caused no errors/warnings. I could only cite bad practice. But maybe I'm the one missing something... I did my own tests: (print('!')); // Outputs '!' ((print('!!'))); // Outputs '!!' (1); // No output (qwerty); // No output (1==2); // No output (1=2); // Syntax error // etc... Can someone shed some light on whats going on and of what use are 'standalone parentheses'?

• Problem with the row count transform

  Hi, I currently deployed an SSIS package (Developed on the 2005 version) (developed on my local server) in a pre production environment for testing. I have used the Row count transform to get a count of good/bad records. It works fine on my local system . However when i deploy this on the pre prod server, the row count does not work! (as in it does not recognize the vairbales i have assigned to the relevant transofm - no drop down abvaliable in the variables attribute part. tried deleting and adding a new transoform.. no luck. Strangely this does not work for any of the other packages also present/deployed on the same server (tried this out by dropping an rc tramsform onto an existing package... same problem) Any suggestions?   Ok, so I am making a multiplayer game. I am working out the kinks in the server/client connectivity system. I can't seam to work out this error. Mainly, my server code does the following: Accepts Client Using SocketServer Module CLIENT -- SERVER sends Login byte (1 byte) + login username and password (200 bytes) SERVER request for 1 byte by struct.calcsize('b') CLIENT has exception on read SERVER recieves byte from CLIENT and sends CLIENT a struct packed byte with the value of 4 SERVER has exception on send So, it is the client excepting. The client exception is: socket.error: (10054, 'Connection reset by peer') And the server error is this: error: (9, 'Bad file descriptor')

This is my understanding: Control.Invoke(delegated_method) // Executes on the thread wich the control was created on witch holds its handle ,typically this would be the main thread of a winform application . Control.BeginInvoke(delegated_method // Executes asynchronously on a threadPool Thread . According to MSDN, it says Executes a delegate asynchronously on the thread that the control's underlying handle was created on. My QUESTION : Am I to understand that beginInvoke treats the main thread in this matter as it would the thread pool, and execute the delegated method on the main thread when it "gets a chance" ? Another question which is raised, is it possible to create a control not on the main thread ? if so could someone give me an example?

  okay guys, these are the facts: I have a java chat. I can NOT have any develop-revelant information. So this all is static. It's not my chat. So fact 2: IPad does not have Java and it will not have it in future. So now, the very hard task: bring this both together. My idea: Develope a proxy server for this. 1) The data from the IPad will send to a server. 2) the server recieve data and call the JRE and the complete chat-client 3) The server gets the "chat" himself and send it back to the Ipad Is that and possible idea or bad? I've now borrowed the book "Agile Web Development with Rails, Third Edition" from a friend, and want to follow the setup instructions in that. Firstly, do I need to remove what I've setup previously? If yes, how do I do it? I can't seem to find instructions anywhere. • Returning a struct from a class method

  I have a header file that looks something like the following: class Model { private: struct coord { int x; int y; } xy; public: .... coord get() const { return xy; } }; And in yet another file (assume ModelObject exists): struct c { int x; int y; void operator = (c &rhs) { x = rhs.x; y = rhs.y; }; } xy; xy = ModelObject->get(); The compiler throws an error that says there is no known covnersion from coord to c. I believe it is because it doesn't know about coord type because it is declared inside of a class header. I can get around that by declaring the struct outside of the class, but I was wondering if it is possible to do the way I am, or is this generally considered bad practice
