  Hi, I'm creating a e-commerce site using Codeigniter. My question is, how should i get the query string. • DataGrid row and MVVM

  Hi, I have a wpf datagrid with many rows, each row has some specific behaviors like selection changed of column 1 combo will filter column 2 combo, and what is selected in row 1 column 1 combo cannot be selected in row 2 column 1 combo, etc... So I am thinking of having a view model for the main datagrid, and another for each row. Is that a good MVVM implementation? It is so that I can handle each row's change event effectively. Question is, how do I create "each row" as a user control view? within the datagrid. I want to implement something like this: <TreeView Padding="0,4,12,0"> <controls:CommandTreeViewItem Header="Sales Orders" Command="{Binding SelectViewModelCommand}" CommandParameter="Sales Orders"/> </TreeView> Where instead of a TreeView I want a datagrid, and instead of controls:CommandTreeViewItem a datagrid row in WPF. • Ignoring old multiple asynchronous ajax requests

  I've got a custom javascript autocomplete script that hits the server with multiple asynchronous ajax requests. (Everytime a key gets pressed.) I've noticed that sometimes an earlier ajax request will be returned after a later requests, which messes things up. The way I handle this now is I have a counter that increments for each ajax request. Requests that come back with a lower count get ignored. I'm wondering: Is this proper? Or is there a better way of dealing with this issue? Thanks in advance, Travis

  Hi, i've a problem with a resize effect that i've done in http://www.mcz-scenario.it. • WPF WIN32 hwndhost WM_MOUSEMOVE WM_MOUSEHOVER

  I have a WPF app with a usercontrol that contains a HwndHost. The HwndHost is created as follows: hwndHost = CreateWindowEx(0, "static", "", WS_CHILD | WS_VISIBLE, 0, 0, hostHeight, hostWidth, hwndParent.Handle, (IntPtr)HOST_ID, IntPtr.Zero, 0); hwndControl = CreateWindowEx(0, "Static", "", WS_CHILD | WS_VISIBLE | WS_CLIPCHILDREN , 0, 0, hostHeight, hostWidth, hwndHost, (IntPtr)PICTUREBOX_ID, IntPtr.Zero, 0); I then hook into the message pump using HwndSourceHook and loads of messages come through. Except the ones I want i.e. WM_MOUSEMOVE, WM_MOUSEHOVER, WM_LBUTTONDOWN and WM_LBUTTONUP Also the OnMouseLeftButtonDown event is not fired in the WPF code on the main window or the control, I assume because windows is trapping it and throwing it away. Anybody know how I can get these to come through, either with or without using the WIN32 window messages?

• WCF - Passing CurrentPrincipal in the Header

  I have a WCF service that needs to know the Principal of the calling user. In the constructor of the service I have: Principal = OperationContext.Current.IncomingMessageHeaders.GetHeader<MyPrincipal>("myPrincipal", "ns"); and in the calling code I have something like: using (var factory = new ChannelFactory<IMyService>(localBinding, endpoint)) { var proxy = factory.CreateChannel(); using (var scope = new OperationContextScope((IContextChannel)proxy)) { var customHeader = MessageHeader.CreateHeader("myPrincipal", "ns", Thread.CurrentPrincipal); OperationContext.Current.OutgoingMessageHeaders.Add(customHeader); newList = proxy.CreateList(); } } This all works fine. My question is, how can I avoid having to wrap all proxy method calls in the using (var scope...{ [create header and add to OperationContext]? Could I create a custom ChannelFactory that will handle adding the myPrincipal header to the operation context? Something like that would save a whole load of copy/paste which I'd rather not do but I'm not sure how to achieve it:) Thanks

• How to Increment Visual Studio build number using C++?

  I have a Visual Studio 2008 project that produces a file called: "Game-Release.exe". This was configured under Project Properties - C/C++ - Linker - General: $(OutDir)\$(ProjectName)-Release.exe I would like to take this a bit further by have an incrementing build number so I would have something which says: Game-Release-Build-1002.exe The number on the end should be an incrementing integer. I will be storing the build exe's on subversion so I think i would find this useful (although not necessary). Perhaps there is a built in macro in Visual Studio that could handle this. Quite possibly I was thinking I could have a text file with the build number in it and have the compiler read, use and increment the number in the file each time the project is built. My goal is however to make the process as automated as possible. What is the best way to accomplish this? If you offer an opinion, please also provide the code we can all share. Thnx.

• Poco SocketReactor Scalability

  I have written a proxy server for Linux using Poco but have since been reading up on the various approaches to achieving TCP/IP server scalability. I will need the server to handle persistent connections (not HTTP traffic) with an upper limit of about 250 simultaneous connections. Each connection typically uses about 5-10Kb/sec and the best possible latency in handling traffic is crucial. As it stands I am using the Poco SocketReactor which uses the Reactor model with a select() call at its heart however I have had a read on the C10K problem as well as few other resources and it seems that using this approach might not be the best idea. I believe there is a test implementation in the Poco libs that uses poll() so this could be an option to improve things. Does anyone have any experience using a Poco SocketReactor and do you have any idea how well it might scale for my scenario? If it will not scale well, suggestions on alternatives would be appreciated.

• C# timer won't tick

  hi, i have a strange problem... I've been going out of my mind for the past couple of hours... the timer i put in my winform code (from the toolbar) won't tick... I have timers on a couple of forms in my program, they all work fine... I try to do exactly the same it this it won't tick... I select it, drag it on to a form, enable it, set interval and handle the tick event... and nothing happens... i even tried putting random code like messagebox.show in the tick event just to see if anything happens, and nothing!!! as I said, a have a couple of more timer in my program (on other forms, not in the one i'm trying to put this timer) and they all work fine... any suggestions? thanks in advance!

• Which web containers install themselves well as a Windows service?

  We have had a web application product for several years, and used Tomcat to deploy it under Windows as it registers itself as a Windows service so it starts and stops automatically. We may now happen to need more JEE facilitites than is provided by Tomcat (we are very tempted by the JEE 6 things in the container) so the question is which Open Source JEE containers works well as Windows services. Since Glassfish is the only JEE 6 implementation right now, it would be nice if it works well, but I'd like to hear experiences and not just what I can read from brochures. If not, what else do people use? EDIT: This goes for web containers too, and not just JEE containers. We will probably keep the necessary stack included until we find the right container and it gets JEE6 support. EDIT: I want this to work as distributed. I'm not interested in manually hacking wrappers etc., but want the installation process to handle the creation and removal of the service.

• CrossPost access to data

  Hi, I have a search form on a page that posts back to itself and shows the results, all works fine. I now have a requirement to put the same search form on the site home page. This needs to post back to the search form and run the findResults code. Using the PostBackURL parameter on the home page form's submit button I can hit the search page ok. However, when using the following code in the Page_Load section of the search page I hit the problem of not being able to access data from the posting page as I get the following error message on the line starting "yearList.SelectedValue....": "'Site._default1.Protected WithEvents yearList As System.Web.UI.WebControls.DropDownList' is not accessible in this context because it is 'Protected'". • Sending compressed data via socket

  Hi, I have to make a log server in java, and one task is to send the data compressed. Now I am sending it line by line in plain text, but I must compress it. The server handle "HTTP like" request. For example, I can get a log sending "GET xxx.log". This will entablish a TCP connection to the server, the server response with a header and the log, and close the connection. The client, reads line by line and analyzes each LOG entry. I tried some ways without success. My main problem is that I don't know where each line ends(in the client size). Any idea?

• How do you run PartCover with spaces in the path?

  I have a msbuild file that I'm trying to run from Hudson CI. It outputs like this "C:\Program Files\Gubka Bob\PartCover .NET 2\PartCover.exe" --target "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\MSTest.exe" --target-args "/noisolation" "/testcontainer:C:\CI\Hudson\jobs\Video Raffle\workspace\Source\VideoRaffleCaller\Source\VideoRaffleCaller.Test.Unit\bin\Debug\VideoRaffleCaller.Test.Unit.dll" --include "[VideoRaffleCaller*]*" --output "Coverage\partcover.xml" I get this error Invalid switch "raffle\workspace\source\videorafflecaller\source\videorafflecall er.test.unit\bin\debug\videorafflecaller.test.unit.dll". For switch syntax, type "MSTest /help" WTF? Looks like PartCover doesn't handle spaces in the --target-args well. Or am I missing some quotes somewhere? Has anyone gotten something like to to work?

• How to automatically scroll ScrollViewer - only if the user did not change scroll position

  I would like to create the following behaviour in a ScrollViewer that wraps ContentControl: When the ContentControl height grows , the ScrollViewer should automatically scroll to the end. This is easy to achive by using ScrollViewer.ScrollToEnd(). However, if the user uses the scroll bar, the automatic scrolling shouldn't happen anymore. This is similar to what happens in VS output window for example. The problem is to know when a scrolling has happened because of user scrolling and when it happened because the content size changed. I tried to play with the ScrollChangedEventArgsof ScrollChangedEvent, but couldn't get it to work. Ideally, I do not want to handle all possible Mouse and keyboard events.

• How can I detect when the .NET framework is "turned off"?

  My application requires the .NET Framework version 3.5. I recently ran into a customer that had the .NET Framework installed but turned off. In this case, my installer (InstallShield 2009) does not prompt the user to install the Framework (because it is already installed) and when my application runs it crashes immediately. I tried another .NET application and it also crashes immediately. Is there any way to detect this situation and handle it more gracefully? Just detecting this during install is not ideal since the .NET Framework can be turned off at any time. Ideally, the application would be able to check and display a friendly message to the user telling them they need to turn on the .NET Framework.

• Lucene.Net support phrases?: What is best approach to tokenize comma-delimited data (atomically) in

  I have a database with a column I wish to index that has comma-delimited names, e.g., User.FullNameList = "Helen Ready, Phil Collins, Brad Paisley" I prefer to tokenize each name atomically (name as a whole searchable entity). What is the best approach for this? Did I miss a simple option to set the tokenize delimiter? Do I have to subclass or write my own class that to roll my own tokenizer? Something else? ;) Or does Lucene.net not support phrases? Or is it smart enough to handle this use case automatically? I'm sure I'm not the first person to have to do this. Googling produced no noticeable solutions.

  I'm printing a PDF file by executing a commandline application from within my C# application. Now I wanna know when this job is printed. I was hoping there would be some kind of event I could subscribe to, and handle it. But I couldn't find it. So now I'm resorting to polling. And checking the JobStatus of a PrinterSystemJobInfo object. But in my case this either gives me JobStatus = None or JobStatus = Printing. PrinterSystemJobInfo.JobStatus Can someone tell me how to reliably check a print job status using C#?

• FileSystemWatcher Changed event is raised twice

  I have an application where I am looking for a text file and if there are any changes made to the file I am using the OnChanged eventhandler to handle the event. I am using the NotifyFilters.LastWriteTime but still the event is getting fired twice.   Hi! Im trying to implement a UIScrollView including multiple images, using paginate. The problem is that I want more then one page to be visible in the UIScrollView, but only one page should be selected. I found several solutions in which you handle touch down/up (touchesBegan and touchesEnded) myself and scrollRectToVisible, but I want to avoid this if possible. • Bullet Physics, when to choose which DynamicsWorld?

  I have a few general questions about the bullet physics library. Here is my current understanding in a nutshell: btDiscreteDynamicsWorld - Simplest physics world, only handles rigid bodies, maybe it has better performance. btSoftRigidDynamicsWorld - The only physics world that can work with large jello moulds btContinuousDynamicsWorld - If you have really fast objects this will prevent them from prenetrating each other or flying through each other, but is otherwise like a btDiscreteDynamicsWorld. Is my understanding of the btDiscreetDynamicsWorld, btContinuousDynamicsWorld and btSoftRigidDynamicsWorld classes in terms of functionality, purpose, and performance correct? Why does the user manual recommend the btDiscreteDynamicsWorld class? btSoftRigidDynamicsWorld appears to be the only world that can handle soft bodies, so what if we wanted Continuous Physics integration and Soft bodies? How fast is fast enough to consider using a btContinuousDynamicsWorld, and what are the drawbacks of using one? • release does not free up memory in low-memory condidtion

  I am trying to follow the Apple's recommendation to handle low-memory warnings (found in Session 416 of WWDC 2009 videos) by freeing up resources used by freeing up my dataController object (referenced in my app delegate) that contains a large number of strings for read from a plist: - (void)applicationDidReceiveMemoryWarning:(UIApplication *)application { [_dataController release]; _dataController = nil; NSLog([NSString stringWithFormat:@"applicationDidReceiveMemoryWarning bottom... retain count:%i", [_dataController retainCount]]); } But when I run ObjectAlloc within Instruments and simulate a Low-Memory Condition, I don't see a decrease in the memory used by my app even though I see the NSLog statements written out and the retain count is zero for the object. I do pass references to the app delegate around to some of the view controllers. But the code above releases the reference to the _dataController object (containing the plist data) so I would expect the memory to be freed. Any help would be appreciated.
