In VS 2008 setup/deployment project, is there any way to add a custom error dialog (or customize the existing one) to handle errors encountered during the installation process?
Anyone ever had this error when trying to build a solution in Visual Studio 2008?
It's driving me MAD! I've removed all the containing projects and re-added them, and it's still not letting me build or run the solution.
Any suggestions?
Visual Studio 2008 has a Copy Web Site tool that remembers previous FTP locations that files have been copied to. There is a "Connections" drop down where they are listed. I'd like to remove some old listings from that, but I can't find where they're stored.
I've looked at the solution file, and there's nothing there.

I have a couple ANTLR-generated code files, and I'm currently happy with how they are working. I'd like to configure my project in Visual Studio (2008) so the debugger skips over methods defined in those files. How can I do this?
I have a web service that I just coded up that drops an image (png) into my SQL Server 2008 database as a varbinary.
Is there a easy tool out there that can let me see that image?
I could code up a client, but I would rather just use a tool if one exists.
I have a solution that was developed in VS 2008 that is configured to use IIS. I configure the Virtual directory in IIS the same way I have with other working solutions using IIS.
When I either build and run the solution in VS 2008 or browse the virtual directory using IIS, I get the following error message.
Internet Explorer cannot display the
webpage
What you can try:
It appears you are not connected to
the Internet, but you might want to
try to reconnect to the Internet
Retype the address
Go back to the previous page.
Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet
The website is encountering problems
There might be a typing error in the
address.
Why might this be?
I have two tables:
info: ID, fee_id
and
fee: ID, amount
and a reference between them (SQL Server 2008):
ALTER TABLE info WITH CHECK ADD CONSTRAINT FK_info_fee FOREIGN KEY(fee_id)
REFERENCES fee (ID)
ALTER TABLE info CHECK CONSTRAINT FK_info_fee
GO
How to configure this reference that way so a record in fee will be deleted if info.fee_id becomes NULL
When I rename a table column in Designer mode in SQL Server Management Studio 2008 (both R2 and non-R2) and generate a change script it looks like this:
EXECUTE sp_rename N'table.column', N'Tmp_columnNew', 'COLUMN'
GO
EXECUTE sp_rename N'table.Tmp_columnNew', N'columnNew', 'COLUMN'
GO
What for temporary column name is used? Why don't rename at once?
Hello,
I'm using Visual Studio 2008 Express and I would like Visual Studio (or perhaps an Add-in) to save my whole project to some sort of auto-incrementing archive or whatever would help me recover from disasters. I don't have much need for SVN or complex versioning systems.
I'm just looking for something simple and lean.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Jenny
PS : I looked into the built-in AutoRecover feature but it doesn't seem to save more than a few files.
Hi,
a colleague and I are trying pair programming for the first time. We both remote into a development machine; I'm using RemoteDesktop and my colleague is using UltraVNC. This works great except that he can't see the Intellisense dropdown in Visual Studio 2008. According to online posts, this may be something to do with DirectDraw, but I don't see much by way of a workaround.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks,
Andrew
Hello
I am trying to deploy an application via Clickonce from one domain, where I'm logged in as DOMAINONE\Irwin to another, where I am granted permission via DOMAINTWO\deployer.
When I try this, Visual Studio (2008) reports:
Unable to access \\DOMAINTWO\publishfolder.
Any advice on how to accomplish this?
Hello everyone,
I am using SQL Server 2008 Enterprise and using the new Merge statement. From my experiment, I find source is always read only (table content not modified, i.e. no record is deleted/inserted/updated)? Is that correct understanding?
thanks in advance,
George

I have a Windows 2008 server with two IP addresses assigned to a single NIC. The DNS settings are setup to register the connections's addresses on the DNS server. nslookup shows both IP addresses for the server name. How is name resolution done in this case, i.e. which IP address does the DNS server return for a host lookup? Or does it return both, and the client selects one of the addresses?
Would somebody please tell me whats wrong with this code
I am just calling a Sleep function from the kernel32.dll
What's wrong?
I am using Visual Studio 2008.
Any help would be grateful.
Thank you very much.

I was wondering if there was a way to extract all the values of a column, and then save each value into separate text files (labeled ANYTHING, 1-100 works fine).
I know how to do this through another language, but I'm using SQL Server 2008 with Microsoft SQL Server Manager and it would save me some time from figuring out how to do it through C#.
I use WebClient from System.Net Namespace of Visual Studio 2008 to download the HTML content.
It done well with normal website but with some 4rum that require authorization such as warez-bb.org, it always return the HTML of the login page.
I wonder if there is a way to send the username and password to the WebClient?
