  • Enabling Attachments in Oracle Forms

    In this blog I will demonstrate how we can enable attachments in Oracle Form. The user ask is to capture a job description which will be along text. Oracle Apps has a feature called attachments, through some easy setup we can enable attachments in forms. We will be going to addresscustomer ask through this feature. Step 1 : Identify Form Name First thing you have to do is to identify the form to enable attachment. In this scenario form will be PERWSDJT ( Job form in HRMS ). Step 2 :  Identify Document Entity exists or not. If exists then do nothing otherwise create new. Step 3 : Create Document Categories. Here I will create a category Job Description with Default Data Type Long Text and Application Human Resources.Onceit is done I will assign this to Create Job form. Step: 3 Query Attachment Functions for PERWSDJT.   • tool for advanced ID3 tags handling and audio files ordering

    I have following problem – some of my files do not have complete ID3 tags and some have typos or small differences in writing - so finally, my portable player sees “Mr. President” as different artist from “Mr President” and so on. I would need some tool which could search similar tags and then allow me to correct the typos or for example override “artist” in all selected files by manually entered text. The same with empty tag items – sometimes, the track name, album etc. is OK, but artist is missing etc. Without touching the audio quality, of course (but this should be no problem, I think). I already tried tools in Winamp, Songbird and other players and currently most advanced free tool I tried is Tagscanner. However, it is not able to to solve the problem with similar tags. Do you know such tool? Preferably free and for Windows, if possible. However, if you know some commercial app able to do this, please let me know.

  • Oracle VDI thin client terminal and Synergy

    I use my main laptop and old SunRay thin client hardware at my office.I set up Synergy for keyboard/mouse/clipboard sharing and I thought I hit this issue.  Bug #3002 - Mouse Pointer Invisible on Client PC - SynergyRDP and a thin client setup I found this workaround. Turning "Display pointer trails" on somehow made mymouse appear on thin client side.  This may or may not work in different kind of Oracle VDI setup or other vendors' thin client.

  • Is Java "dead in the water" as a consequence of Oracle buying Sun and subsequently suing Google

    Google has led many useful Java features (guava, gson); now that Oracle has purchased Sun will it effect its future enhancements and utilization as a development language. What exactly, or even approximately, are the legal ramifications? I thought Java was open source and would therefore remain unaffected ... ? Should Google just buy Oracle to get rid of the whole mess, that would be cool wouldn't it ? Do you think this is the beginning of the end for Java as a widely used language ? Its continued success as an open source/free technology is now doubtful?

  • Is there other ways to do insert/update/delete on a remote oracle database?

    I asked a question recently concerning the speed of execution of insert/update/delete using JDBC driver in a remote machine, but the problem cannot be solved easily. I would like to ask, is there any other way to execute the insert/update/delete to the oracle? The current situation is this: the DB is on a seperate machine than the java program used to update the DB. I looked up the internet and found people suggesting using pure sql or pl/sql to do the update, is that possible? And do we need to operate the sql or pl/sql in a local machine? Because I have no knowledge about pl/sql, so I am not sure if we can create some kind of script and call it on a remote machine. Let say the situation is like this: the input data is on machine A, and the original java program are also on machine A, but the oracle is on machine B. is there any other approach other than JDBC?
