• How to retrieve the GUID for Yahoo's Contacts API

  I'm attemping to use the Yahoo Contacts API to add an "invite your friends" feature on a site I'm building. I've found the correct web service to call (http://social.yahooapis.com/v1/user/{guid}/contacts) but it is asking for the user's GUID, not their username/password. I've searched, and am unable to find a "lookup" feature through the Yahoo API which lets me get the user's guid from their username/password. Does anyone have any experience with the Contacts API. I've reaad over the documentation, and looked at YQL as well, but I still haven't found how to get the user's guid. Thanks guys.

  Hey I am connecting a MYSQL database through hibernate and i seem to have processes that are not being killed after they are finished in the session. I have called flush and close on each session but when i check the server the last processes are still there with a sleep command. This is a new problem which i am having and was not the case yesterday. Is there any way i can ensure the killng of theses processes when i am done with a session. I am confused, because when I copy / paste the functions into the console, all is fine and they work. I also have a function defined in my profile, and it works. Where am I thinking wrong, why doesn't it work what I'm trying to do?

  I want to divide business layer (BLL) of an asp.net application into multiple components. Each component is a .NET class library which is compiled as a standalone DLL. These components should have their own configuration files. For example "MyNameSpace.Users.dll" contains classes about users of the website and there's a password policy to check if password length is at least x characters. When webmaster edits the config file of this DLL and set x to y then component (DLL) should use new value (y) in the future and enforce passwords to be at least y characters. I want each component as a single project and compile them separaely (and not to put all projects in a solution in Visual Studio), and put the DLLs of these libraries into the "Bin" folder of my ASP.NET application. Is it possible ? Where should I put these config files ?

  We seem to have a lot of clients asking us to change the login screen in this manner: Display a list of all available users (thumbnail picture + name) User selects a username from the list A password prompt appears near the username User enters password then presses enter This sounds remarcably similar to the Windows XP login, which is probably where they got the ideea in the first place. There are only about 4 - 5 different users that can login at any given station, so implementing that list on one screen is feasable. So I was wondering if there are any usability experts with some word on this method of login. As far as I can tell, MS droped this behaviour in Vista/Win7, didn't they?

  I have a folder (folder_1) that is protected by htaccess/htpasswd files. Inside that folder is another folder (folder_2) that is protected by another couple of htaccess/htpasswd files. When a php-script in folder_1 or folder_2 is called, the user has to authenticate herself using the correct username and password as specified in the respective htaccess/htpasswd files. This works as intended. However, as soon as the php-script in folder_2 tries to refer to another script or a css-file that is located in folder_1, the user must enter username and password for folder_1 as well. Is there a way to avoid this that does not involve copying scripts and css-files from folder_1 to folder_2? Regards, Ralf

I have a small webapplication called StatsGen I want to include in other projects, and for convenience I'd like to have the settings inside the bin folder, in a config file with an appropriate name, in my case: StatsGen.config. When I get to that point I get an error: err: abort: http authorization required My repository requires http authorization and fabric doesn't prompt me for the user and password. I can get around this by changing my repository address from: https://hostname/repository to: https://user:password@hostname/repository But for various reasons I would prefer not to go this route. Are there any other ways in which I could bypass this problem?

• Postfix to deliver mail to a virtual address mailbox

  Postfix version 2.6.6, Dovecot Version 2.0.9 I want to setup Postfix + Dovecot. Dovecot seems to be working. I can authenticate. However, the mailbox is empty! Nothing will get delivered! I followed many tutorials on Postfix + Dovecot but they seem to want to complicate things by using Dovecot LDA or MySQL. I just want it to be very simple and having Postfix deliver to the virtual mail boxes are fine. I don't need MySQL either. I already set up a custom password file that Dovecot uses for authentication and I can login to POP3 with SSL. I can see from the logs that Postfix is delivering to the system user accounts (the catch-all), instead of the virtual users that I set up in Dovecot. The SMTP + SSL authentication seems to work also. I can also see from the logs that Dovecot is checking the correct virtual mail folder. I just need to figure out how to get Postfix to deliver to the virtual mail boxes. I have the following which I believe are relevant.   I'd like a free library for .NET to get attachments from an account (such as gMail, or others) via imap4 (not necessarely), and save them in a folder. Ideally it would allow me to get a list of them, and download only some given ones (filtering by extension, name, and/or size) and be free. • Internet Explorer buggy when accessing a custom weblogic provider

  I've created a custom Weblogic Security Authentication Provider on version 10.3 that includes a custom login module to validate users. As part of the provider, I've implemented the ServletAuthenticationFilter and added one filter. The filter acts as a common log on page for all the applications within the domain. When we access any secured URLs by entering them in the address bar, this works fine in IE and Firefox. But when we bookmark the link in IE an odd thing happens. If I click the bookmark, you will see our log on page, then after you've successfully logged into the system the basic auth page will display, even though the user is already authenticated. This never happens in Firefox, only IE. It's also intermittent. 1 time out of 5 IE will correctly redirect and not show the basic auth window. Firefox and Opera will correctly redirect everytime. We've captured the response headers and compared the success and failures, they are identical. final boolean isAuthenticated = authenticateUser(userName, password, req); // Send user on to the original URL if (isAuthenticated) { res.sendRedirect(targetURL); return; } As you can see, once the user is authenticated I do a redirect to the original URL. Is there a step I'm missing? If this question is more suited to ServerFault please let me know and I will post there. It is odd that it works everytime in Firefox and Opera but not in Internet Explorer. I wish that not using Internet Explorer was an option but it is currently the company standard. Any help or direction would be appreciated. I have tested against IE 6 & 8 and deployed the custom provider on 3 different environments and I can still reproduce the bug.

  I'm trying to use Squeryl to take the contents of a table from one database, and append it to the equivalent table in another database. The primary key will have to be reassigned in the process, but I'm getting the error NULL not allowed for column "SIMID".
