• What is the meaning of NSXMLParserErrorDomain error 5.?

  Ok, I am back on this task. I have my XML properly download from my webserver with a URL pointing to the server's file, however, when I detect the network is 'unreachable' I simply point the URL to my application's local XML and I get the following error (N.B. the file is a direct copy of the one on the server). I cannot find detail description, but I think it is saying that the URL is pointing to an inaccessible location. Am I storing this resource in the wrong location? I think I want it in the HomeDirectory / Library?? • Enhance Localization performances? (ComponentResourceManager.ApplyResources)

  Dear all, After experiencing some performances issues on my client side, we decided to give a try to some of the performance profilers to try to find the bottleneck or identify the guilty parts of the code. Of course, as many performance investigations, the problems comes from various things, but something I find out is that the ComponentResourceManager.ApplyResources of my user controls takes way too much time in the construction of my forms: more than 24% of the construction time is spent in the ApplyResources inside the InitializeComponent(). This seems rather a lot for only "finding a resource string and putting it in it's container". What is exactly done in the ComponentResourceManager.ApplyResources ? I guess more than searching the string, if not it wouldn't take that long. Is there a way to enhance the performances of the localization? Our software is localized in several languages, so we do need to keep this multi-lingual feature. Any recommendations regarding this issue? Thanks! PS: We are coding in C#, .NET 3.5 SP1.

• Initializing links in jqtouch in AJAX loaded content

  I have an iphone web app built in jqtouch, when content is loaded by links ("a" tags) then any content on the next page is parsed by jqtouch and any links are initialized. However, when I load content via an AJAX call and append() it to an element then any links in that content are NOT initialized by jqtouch. Thus any clicks on those links are full-blown clicks to a new resource and are not handled by jqtouch, so at that point you've effectively broken out of jqtouch.   I can't get NVelocity to initialize. I'm not trying to do anything complicated, so it's just fine if it initializes at the defaults, but it won't even do that. This: VelocityEngine velocity = new VelocityEngine(); ExtendedProperties props = new ExtendedProperties(); velocity.Init(props); Results in: "It appears that no class was specified as the ResourceManager..." So does this: VelocityEngine velocity = new VelocityEngine(); velocity.Init(); I can find precious little documentation on what the properties should be, nor how to get it to initialize with the simple defaults. Can anyone point to a resource? A lot of pages point back to this page: http://www.castleproject.org/others/nvelocity/usingit.html But this page skips over the (seemingly) most important point -- how to set the properties and what to set them to. I just want to load a simple template from a file.

• Intellij Community can't use http proxy for Maven

  I have Intellij IDEA Community installed on a Linux box that needs to use an authenticated proxy to get to the Internet. I have a system-wide proxy on the box that works, and I have the proxy configured in ~/.m2/settings.xml. Maven correctly uses the proxy when I run try it from the command-line. I have the same proxy configured within Intellij and it gives me the plugins listing correctly. But when I try to sync with the Maven repository withing Intellij I keep getting this: [WARNING] Unable to get resource 'org.codehaus.mojo:hibernate3-maven-plugin:pom:2.2' from repository restlet (http://maven.restlet.org): Authorization failed: Not authorized by proxy. I went to Settings-Maven and put in the proxy info as properties and that didn't work. I can see by looking at those settings that Intellij is reading my ~./m2/settings.xml fine because it knows where my local repo is (it's in a non-standard place). Anyone know how I can get this working?

If you try to access the various properties of the JavaBean after the transaction that loaded it has been committed, you'll get an exception, a LazyInitializationException, as Hibernate no longer has a valid transactional context to use to hit the database. But with my experiment, using hibernate 3.6, and postgres 9, it doesnt throw any exception at all. Am i missing something ? • How to access uploaded files in Ruby

  I am trying use a Java Uploader in a ROR app (for its ease of uploading entire directories). The selected uploader comes with some PHP code that saves the files to the server. I am trying to translate this code to Ruby, but am stumped on this point: PHP has a very convenient superglobal – $_FILES – that contains a hash of all files uploaded to the current script via the HTTP POST method. It appears Ruby does not have a similar resource. Lacking that, what is the best way to access and save the uploaded files? I am using the JavaPowUpload uploader ( http://www.element-it.com/OnlineHelpJavaPowUpload/index.html ).

• User authentication on a Jersey REST service

  I am currently developing a REST application, which is using the Jersey framework. I would like to know a way that I can control user authentication. I have search a lot of places, and the closest article I have found is this: http://weblogs.java.net/blog/2008/03/07/authentication-jersey. However this article can only be used whith a GlassFish server and a attached database. Is there anyway that I can implement an interface in Jersey and use it as a filter before reaching the requested REST resource? I want to use basic authentication right now, but it should be flexible enough such that I can change that at a later time. Thanks in Advance Stefan.

  Hello, I have a message box pop up when a certain operation is being executed sort of "wait..." window and I want to have a "loading" *.gif animation there to lighten up the mood :) Anyways I can't seem to figure out how to make this work. It's a complete mess. • Setting freemarker template from classpath

  I have a web application that I need to manually obtain a Freemarker template - the template is obtained via a class in a library project, but the actual tpl file is contained in the web application classpath. So, there are 2 projects, one 'taac-backend-api' and another 'taac-web'; taac-backend-api has the code to grab the template, and process it, but taac-web is where the template is stores (specifically in: WEB-INF/classes/email/vendor.tpl) - I have tried everything from using springs classpath resource to using Freemarkers setClassForTemplateLoading method. I assume this would work: freemarkerConfiguration = new Configuration(); freemarkerConfiguration.setClassForTemplateLoading(this.getClass(), ""); Template freemarkerTemplate = freemarkerConfiguration.getTemplate("/email/vendor.tpl"); yet, I always get a FileNotFoundException. Can someone explain the best way to obtain a template from the classpath? Thanks.

  I have a scenario in which I have REST API which manages a Resource which we will call Group. A Group is similar in concept to a discussion forum in Google Groups. Now I have two GET access method which I believe needs separate representations. The 1st GET access method retrieves the minimal amount of information about a Group. Given a *group_id* it should return a minimal amount of information like { group_id: "5t7yu8i9io0op", group_name: "Android Developers", is_moderated: true, number_of_users: 34, new_messages: 5, icon: "http://boo.com/pic.png" } The 2nd GET access method retrives summary information which are more statistical in nature like: { group_id: "5t7yu8i9io0op", top_ranking_users: { [ { user: "george", posts: 789, rank: 1 }, { user: "joel", posts: 560, rank: 2 } ...] }, popular_topics: { [ ... ] } } I want to separate these data access methods and I'm currently planning on this design: GET /group/:group_id/ GET /group/:group_id/stat Only the latter will return the statistical information about the group. What do you think about this ?

  IE 11 does not seem to be recognizing MSFullscreenChange. I have this code in the script: document.addEventListener("MSFullscreenChange", function () { if (document.msFullscreenElement != null) { console.info("Went full screen"); } else { console.info("Exited full screen"); } }); In other words, I'm using the exact code shown here on Microsoft's own site, but nothing's being printed out in the console, and I know fullscreen is enabled. I also noticed I'm getting the SEC7118 message: XMLHttpRequest for https://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/videos/qywzeXowktA?v=2&alt=json required Cross Origin Resource Sharing (CORS). That wouldn't be affecting it, would it?

  Hi Guys, I am trying to write an Add-In to Powerpoint that does basically one thing: Give users a Button somewhere to click, once they click on it the currently selected TextField should get syntax highlighted. The Syntax highlighting part is easy, I'm just having a real hard time finding some good information on how to successfully interact with Powerpoint from code. There are some MSDN articles highlighting how to add controls on document start or AddSlide, but no good information on how to extend the UI. Has anyone had some experience in this field and could point me to some resource that may help? Also, I am running Powerpoint 2007 while my customer may end up running PPT2003. Silverlight also supports threading as per my understanding if you are developing LOB application threads are most useful when you need to do some IO operation but as i am not using OOB application it is not possible to access client resource and for all server request it is by default Async. In above scenario is there any usage of Threading or can anyone provide some good example where by using threading we can improve performance. • Modal MessageBox for ASP.NET without jQuery

  I have an assembly with custom ASP.NET server controls that is used in several, mostly in-house, ASP.NET 2.0 applications. The server controls use simple modal popup messageboxes, which are currently implemented using the javascript alert and confirm functions. I want to release a new version of this assembly that uses a better solution for messageboxes, including support for Yes/No buttons. The appearance would be something like a simplified version of the Ajax Control Toolkit ModalPopup extender (sample here). My constraints are that this should be as easy as possible to integrate into existing ASP.NET 2.0 applications without introducing new dependencies: ideally just drop in a new version of the assembly, that contains all the javascript it needs as an embedded resource, and possibly a CSS file. Because of this constraint, I am not considering solutions I've seen that use jquery, or the ASP.NET Ajax Control Toolkit, which appears to require adding elements to pages that use the extenders (ScriptManagers and the like). Any recommendations?

• Could the HTML 5 Video tag pick up an IP Multicast Stream?

  I've been researching methods of getting an IP Multicast over UDP to the browser, and have found little that suggests I would be able to do it without using a plug-in like Java, Flash, or Silverlight in order to open a UDP port and (somehow) render the video. Checking out the HTML 5 <video> spec, there is (obviously) little in the way of specific implementation details, so as far as I can tell, there is nothing stopping a browser from parsing a address of the form "udp://224.1.1.1:8000" and joining a multicast group on that IP/port. Is this a correct understanding? Or must the resource pointed to by the <source> be a file?

  I am trying to get a better grip on Android's ConnectivityManager and how it really works under the hood. Using the API is simple enough but I am looking for something lower level such as when it starts and the dirty details of what its doing in the background. I can't seem to find a good resource about it. Everything is just about using the API. • Loading WPF satellite resources dynamically

  Hello! I've read about satellite-assemblies being used in WPF localizations. However, I would like to ask if there is a way to load the satellite-assemblies without following the pre-defined directory structure that depends on the language (ex. If the system language is English, the WPF application looks for the satellite-assembly inside the "en-US" subfolder). This is because I would like to simply swap the satellite-assemblies when distributing the software package without having to create a specific folder per language that would hold the assemblies. I would just like to have the satellite-assembly and the main executable in the same directory. Is this possible and is there even an easy way to do this like simply loading the resource file on application startup once? Thanks!

• How to set up asp.net membership with a web application instead of a web project

  Originally the site was set up using a Website project which ended up not working for various reasons. I'm trying to make it work as a web application project and have started from the ground up with a new project. I have looked online and not found a good resource that explains some of the "simple" things that are taken for granted when it's a website project. Some things specifically: How am I specifying the external sql database that the membership site should use? Is it possible to set privileges on a folder and require authentication when accessing that content or does each page need to check for itself? Once again, I'm looking for some resources I can use as I move forward as opposed to answers to specific questions (although those are welcome as well).
