  The Team Project Picker in TFS 2011 looks gorgeous. I specially like the status bar on the working state, at least let’s you know that the project picker is still working on getting the details and of course the new icons for team project collection and team projects are stunning too.     How do I get the Team Project Picker using the TFS API? That is fairly straight forward. • Move a player to another team, with players stored in one arraylist and teams in another using java

  Basically I have a team class, which has an array list that store the players in. In the driver class theres an arraylist that stores the teams. Anyhow I've worked out how to add a player to a specific team and like wise remove a player from said team. Where I'm hitting problems is when I try to transfer one player to another. My understanding is to scan through the first team,and get the player. Then some how add this player to another, by scanning through the chosen team and add to it? I've tried this way but it seems to replace the original player with the new player in both teams. My other approach would be to somehow return the parameters of the player object, create another with the return parameters, remove the orignal then add the new instance in the other team? Really not quite generally how I can go about this, been trying all afternoon! If someone could offer me a general idea, then I can go off and apply the understanding to practice. Many thanks

• Configuring Team City internal.properties to increase git fetch memory

  When pulling from GIT my Team City install is getting an out of memory error. According to the Team City documentation I should be able to increase the memory assigned to the git fetch process, by setting the value for teamcity.git.fetch.process.max.memory to something greater than the default 512MB. http://confluence.jetbrains.net/display/TCD65/Git+%28JetBrains%29#Git%28JetBrains%29-InternalProperties Problem is there does not appear to be an internal.properties file in the location specified. I have tried creating one in the TeamCity/conf/internal.properties as suggested here: http://devnet.jetbrains.net/thread/302596 But I still get the out of memory issue when Team City tries to pull from github thx

• Hibernate Schema Validation Fails on Oracle Table Synonyms

  I'm developing a Java web application that uses Hibernate (annotations-based) for persisting entities to an Oracle 11g database. The DBA created synonyms for the tables and requested that I use these synonyms instead of the physical tables. (Eg: Table "Foo" has synonym "S_Foo") If I have "hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto=validate" enabled, then the application fails on startup with "Missing Table: S_Foo". If I turn off the validation, then the app starts up fine and works properly. My guess is that Hibernate only checks against physical tables and not synonyms when validating that a table exists. Is there any way to enable Hibernate schema validation with synonyms? Can I specify both a physical table and a synonym in the annotation? I prefer having that extra safety check that the table structure is correct when the application starts up.

  I'm refactoring a colleague's code, and I have several cases where he's using a cursor to get "the latest row that matches some predicate": His technique is to write the join as a cursor, order it by the date field descending, open the cursor, get the first row, and close the cursor. This requires calling a cursor for each row of the result set that drives this, which is costly for many rows. I'd prefer to be able to join, but what something cheaper than a correlated subquery: select a.id_shared_by_several_rows, a.foo from audit_trail a where a.entry_date = (select max(a.entry_date) from audit_trail b where b.id_shared_by_several_rows = a.id_shared_by_several_rows ); I'm guessing that since this is a common need, there's an Oracle analytic function that does this?

How can I set the primary key of a table when the table is made up of an object type? e.g. CREATE TABLE object_names OF object_type I have created a Varray type, CREATE TYPE MULTI_TAG AS VARRAY(10) OF VARCHAR(10); but when I try to do SELECT p.tags.count FROM pg_photos p; I get an invalid identifier error on the "count" part. p.tags is a MULTI_TAG, how can I get the number of elements in the MULTI_TAG?

  Hi, Basically I was trying to replace the part of string with its actual value which comes immediately after oracle operators. I can do this for limited operators list like {=,,<} but I wonder that is there any way out to gather all the operators rather than giving them by hands? For instance, I have this string; "a = xyz", then I will replace xyz with lets say 3. But as you know we have bunch of operator namely "like,in,exists etc". So my string can also be this: "a like xyz". So what do you suggest me? Thanks.

  Hi, i have an big problem with an SQL Statement in Oracle. I want to select The TOP 10 Records ordered by STORAGE_DB wich arent in a list from an other select statement. This one works fine for all records: SELECT DISTINCT APP_ID, NAME, STORAGE_GB, HISTORY_CREATED, TO_CHAR(HISTORY_DATE, 'DD.MM.YYYY') AS HISTORY_DATE FROM HISTORY WHERE STORAGE_GB IS NOT NULL AND APP_ID NOT IN (SELECT APP_ID FROM HISTORY WHERE TO_CHAR(HISTORY_DATE, 'DD.MM.YYYY') = '06.02.2009') But when i am adding AND ROWNUM <= 10 ORDER BY STORAGE_GB DESC im getting some kind of "random" Records. I think because the limit takes in place before the order. Does someone has an good solution? The other problem: This query is realy slow (10k+ records)

  I have been asked to research the advantages/disadvantages the two application servers, but am new to the space and am having a terrible time finding an unbiased comparison of the two platforms. I understand that this is a broad question and I hate that I can't give a very specific use case (other than it will be an implementation in an organization with out a full time admin dedicated to management and it will be running in a mixed environment against JD Edwards/Oracle and SQLServer). Does anyone know of any (recently published) content that does a reasonable comparison or can any offer any insight into which might be the better choice and why.   The following code sample works perfectly under SQL Server 2005: using (TransactionScope ts = new TransactionScope()) { using (SharedDbConnectionScope scope = new SharedDbConnectionScope()) { MyTable t = new MyTable(); t.Name = "Test"; t.Comments = "Comments 123"; t.Save(); ts.Complete(); } } But under Oracle 10g it throws a "ORA-02089: COMMIT is not allowed in a subordinate session" error. If I only execute the code inside the SharedDbConnectionScope block then everything works OK, but obviously I won't be able to execute operations under a transaction, thus risking data corruption. This is only a small sample of what my real application does. I'm not sure as to what may be causing this behavior; anyone out there care to shed some light on this issue please? So now I've got two tables, TABLE1: ACCNO BAL1 BAL2 11111 20 10 And TABLE2 (which has the ACCNO key, of course) related rows to '11111': DATENUM AMT 1 -5 2 -10 3 8 4 -23 5 100 6 -120 7 140 Now I have to find the new BAL1 and BAL2 using the following rules: BAL1 AMT must be substracted from or added to BAL1 until BAL1 == 0 (and BAL2 0) if BAL1 reaches 0 then the (if any) remainder of BAL1 must be substracted from BAL2 if BAL2 reaches 0 too, from then only BAL1 should be modified. So using the above data: DATENUM AMT BAL1 BAL2 0 0 20 10 /*starting record*/ 1 -5 15 10 2 -10 5 10 3 8 13 10 4 -23 0 0 5 100 100 0 6 -120 -20 0 7 140 20 0 And I need the last two BAL1 and BAL2.   I'm creating a .ASPNET project and I would like to setup nHibernate as my ORM tool. I will be using an existing oracle database and Visual Studio 2010. ORM tools are very new to me and really could use any advice to better understand the tool and the process required to implement them. I've been following an article at http://nhforge.org/wikis/howtonh/your-first-nhibernate-based-application.aspx to learn about it and am stuck where they say to create a local database as mine only give me the option to create a SQL server database (perhaps this a new for visual studio 2010?). • Inserting clobs into oracle with ODBC

  I'm trying to insert a clob into Oracle. If I try this with an OdbcConnection it does not insert the data into the database. It returns 1 row affected and no errors but nothing is inserted into the database. It does work with an OracleConnection. However, using the Microsoft OracleClient makes our webservices often crash with an AccessViolationException (Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.). This happens a lot when we use OracleDataAdapter.Fill(dataset). So using this doesn't seem like an option. Is there any way to insert/update clobs with more then 4.000 characters from .Net with an OdbcConnection?

  Hey all, I'm not much of a database guru so I would like some advice. Background We have 4 tables that are currently stored in Sybase IQ. We don't currently have any choice over this, we're basically stuck with what someone else decided for us. Sybase IQ is a column-oriented database that is perfect for a data warehouse. Unfortunately, my project needs to do a lot of transactional updating (we're more of an operational database) so I'm looking for more mainstream alternatives. Question Given these tables' dimensions, would anyone consider SQL Server or Oracle to be a viable alternative? Table 1 : 172 columns * 32 million rows Table 2 : 453 columns * 7 million rows Table 3 : 112 columns * 13 million rows Table 4 : 147 columns * 2.5 million rows Given the size of data what are the things I should be concerned about in terms of database choice, server configuration, memory, platform, etc.?

• Oracle 10g - JAXB unmarshalling is not working as expected

  We're using Oracle 10g application server and deployed the Web service and trying to deploy the web service client. Server is working fine i.e.; marshalling is working fine. We're getting the output from the service properly but the search client is not unmarshalling (parsing) the response received. We're using all the tags under same name space so there is no name space problem. Different collections would exists in the XSD. Has anyone faced similar kind of issue?
