• Flex SDK missing fundamental things

  All of a sudden Flash Builder 4 is missing all kinds of fundamental things and is generating incorrect errors. I've had the same issue yesterday, where I fixed it by downloading a new Flex SDK and importing that into FB. I did this again, but this time it fixed nothing. I don't think it's something I did, like removing critical references from the build path. The errors also appeared on projects I was not working on at the time. It occurs for ActionScript, Flex and Flex Library projects alike. Update 3: Well, i've singled the problem down to a single piece of code, though a very simple one. I can make a new workspace in FB and things work ok, then screw the workspace up forever by adding this code to a project. All projects will have errors and closing or even removing the faulty project does not change this. Making another new workspace (without the faulty code) makes my projects compile again. It appears to be an SDK problem, not Flash Builder. • How to get adobe air air.navigateToURL(urlReq) to bring default bowser to focus

  I'm working with adobe air and I have this code.. var urlReq = new air.URLRequest('http://google.com'); air.navigateToURL(urlReq); It's working correctly in that it is loading the page in the browser, but the issue is that adobe air is staying in the front and the browser is not being brought to the front... Perhaps it's because I'm working in runtime and not a complied app? (just off to try that now)

• Flash - Firefox issue

  I realised that if I do have a flash object and do not include a 'wmode' attribute, I will not be able to overlay HTML because the flash will always play on top. But if I do include a 'wmode:transparent' , the flash object completely disappears in firefox, whereas if I use 'wmode:opaque' , I get a white box in place of the Flash object. I've looked at many forums - many questions - but somehow everyone's problem gets resolved when they use one of the aforementioned attributes. So....HELP !!! Note: using either attribute works in IE.

  I'm not a flasher, but i did a menu for site on flash i have about 10 buttons working like hyperlink using getURL. So, problem is: it works perfectly on my netbook (Win XP - Mozilla/Chrome/IE - last flash player) it works perfectly on my wife's laptop (Vista - Mozilla/chrome/IE - last flash player) But it does not work at all on my employer's computers (XP/Vista - Mozilla/Chrome - last flash player) I'm using swfobject (i'm not sure what version is, but i think it's 2.x) Do you have any ideas?

• How to make Flash 'play well with others'?

  What up fam. So this isn't a question asking about memory management schemes; for those of you who may not know, the Flash Virtual Machine relies on garbage collection by using reference counting and mark and sweep (for good coverage of these topics, check out Grant Skinner's article and presentation). And yes, Flash also provides the "delete" operator, which can (unfortunately only) be used to remove the properties of dynamic objects. What I want to know is how to make it so that Flash programs don't continue to consume CPU and memory while running in the background (save loading content or communicating remotely, for example). The motivation for this question comes in part from Apple's ban on cross compiled applications (in its SDK 4) on the grounds that they do not behave as predicted with the multitasking feature central to iPhone OS 4. My intention is not only to make Flash programs that will 'pass muster' as far as multitasking in iPhone OS 4, but also to simply make better (behaving) Flash programs. Put another way, how might a Flash application mimic the multitasking feature of iPhone OS 4? Does the Flash API provide the means for a developer to put their applications to 'sleep' while other programs run, and then to 'awaken' them just as quickly? • Adobe Reader process fails when starting second instance

  In our C# WinForms application, we generate PDF files and launch Adobe Reader (or whatever the default system .pdf handler is) via the Process class. Since our PDF files can be large (approx 200K), we handle the Exited event to then clean up the temp file afterwards. The system works as required when a file is opened and then closed again. However, when a second file is opened (before closing Adobe Reader) the second process immediately exits (since Reader is now using it's MDI powers) and in our Exited handler our File.Delete call should fail because it's locked by the now joined Adobe process. However, in Reader we instead get: There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found. The unusual thing is that if I put a debugger breakpoint before the file deletion and allow it to attempt (and fail) the deletion, then the system behaves as expected! I'm positive that the file exists and fairly positive that all handles/file streams to the file are closed before starting the process. • Play local video with an HTML/Javascript based Adobe Air application

  I'm trying to add some video playback (that will be used for a tutorial) to my Adobe Air application. I'm not a Flex or Flash developer and my application is HTML/Javascript based, so I'm having trouble with some of the video solutions I've been able to find. Here is one of the examples I've found that is flex based: Playing local files with Air I've looked for a free flash video player that I could just embed. But the only one I've found I was unable to coerce to play files from my Air application directory. I was exited at the prospect of using the HTML5 video tag which I thought Air supported, but that also seems to not work. Can anyone recommend a free flash video player that I can embed? Or a solution that doesn't have to be built completely from flex?

• "Error encountered while BER decoding" in Adobe Acrobat Pro X when applying timestamp

  I have a tedious problem with Acrobat Pro X 10.1.3.23: when I want to apply a timestamp to a document I always get that error. I have configured VeriSign TSA server http://timestamp.verisign.com/scripts/timstamp.dll and it returns that error. I have tried Comodo CA http://timestamp.comodoca.com/authenticode and Aruba https://servizi.arubapec.it/tsa/ngrequest.php but all three returned the same exact error. My PDFs are now signed without a certified timestamp and this is a problem for me. I'm obliged to sign documents and apply a certified timestamp at the same time. This seems to be a common error in Acrobat, but I found no solution to it. Can somebody help me?

  Whenever I try to print to PDF from an MS Word 2007 document, I get this error: Cambria not found, using Courier. (Even though I believe I removed ALL occurrences of Cambria from the document) The pdf doesn't get produced actually, all I get is this error log file with that message. Edit: I found the source of the problem. It was an MS-Word equation that insists on using "Cambria Math" that the distiller was choking over. I can't seem to get equations to print to pdf though!

  I have a brand new HP p6230y. My first step after booting it up was to install Master Collection. It installs fine, but when I go to run each of the applications, and they all behave differently. I have re-installed twice already. Photoshop opens, but freezes. Acrobat tells me that I need to reinstall. Nothing else even opens (no freezing, no process in taskman). Any Ideas? • Adding multiple gradients to object in Adobe Illustrator

  Hi, I have an object which is a path (a nose to be specific). Now I want both a linear gradient and a radial gradient to be added to the object. So these must be separate gradient objects I guess, and I can't find a way to add multiple separate gradients to a complete path so do I duplicate the object and then apply a new gradient to each object? And what would the layer transparency features look like? Would the 'normal' overlay of the layers work? I am afraid of multiple shadows creating double dark regions, but maybe that is as its supposed to be if you think in terms of classical art and draw shadows in terms of each light obstruction.
