  • Stacking multiple slideshows using Jquery

    Hi, JQuery newbie here! I'm having difficulty stacking more than one slideshow with each it's own individual controls. The one slideshow works just fine.     I have a problem about Linked Lists. I already know how to create structures and linked list. But now I have to create arbitrary number of linked list which are also be kept in another structure. Which means : struct list{int x, struct list *next; }; struct parent{int x, struct list *head, struct parent *next;} And after lists are created when i enter this input for example "123134 linked list should look like : 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 And for example 1 will contain 2-3 list inside of it, 3 will contain 1-4 list inside of it. Is this a compiler bug? I want it to leave my pointers the hell alone.

    Hi, Is it feasible to play a number of FLV files at the same time on one SWF? Basically I have a brief to create a video banner with a number of FLVs of people playing at the same time but starting at different points in the videos. My concerns are with loading times, memory consumption and the starting of each FLV at a different point and looping it. The FLVs will be stored on a server and pseudo-streamed.     In GNOME and KDE, (and from what I hear, OS X aswell), you have a feature called multiple desktops. It allows you to have multiple screens of apps running, without having the same number of monitors. Does such a program exist for Vista? I'd like around four desktops (one for IM, one for programming, one for browsing/email and one for other apps), and at home I usually have one monitor if using my laptop outside of home, or two if I'm using it at home.

  • Problem setting row backgrounds in Android Listview

    I have an application in which I'd like one row at a time to have a certain color. This seems to work about 95% of the time, but sometimes instead of having just one row with this color, it will allow multiple rows to have the color. Specifically, a row is set to have the "special" color when it is tapped.   • MySQL – Scalability on Amazon RDS: Scale out to multiple RDS instances

    Today, I’d like to discuss getting better MySQL scalability on Amazon RDS. The question of the day: “What can you do when a MySQL database needs to scale write-intensive workloads beyond the capabilities of the largest available machine on Amazon RDS?” Let’s take a look. In a typical EC2/RDS set-up, users connect to app servers from their mobile devices and tablets, computers, browsers, etc.  Then app servers connect to an RDS instance (web/cloud services) and in some cases they might leverage some read-only replicas.   Figure 1. A typical RDS instance is a single-instance database, with read replicas.  This is not very good at handling high write-based throughput. As your application becomes more popular you can expect an increasing number of users, more transactions, and more accumulated data.  User interactions can become more challenging as the application adds more sophisticated capabilities. The result of all this positive activity: your MySQL database will inevitably begin to experience scalability pressures. What can you do? Broadly speaking, there are four options available to improve MySQL scalability on RDS. 1. Larger RDS Instances – If you’re not already using the maximum available RDS instance, you can always scale up – to larger hardware.  Bigger CPUs, more compute power, more memory et cetera. But the largest available RDS instance is still limited.  And they get expensive. “High-Memory Quadruple Extra Large DB Instance”: 68 GB of memory 26 ECUs (8 virtual cores with 3.25 ECUs each) 64-bit platform High I/O Capacity Provisioned IOPS Optimized: 1000Mbps 2. Provisioned IOPs – You can get provisioned IOPs and higher throughput on the I/O level. However, there is a hard limit with a maximum instance size and maximum number of provisioned IOPs you can buy from Amazon and you simply cannot scale beyond these hardware specifications. 3. Leverage Read Replicas – If your application permits, you can leverage read replicas to offload some reads from the master databases. But there are a limited number of replicas you can utilize and Amazon generally requires some modifications to your existing application. And read-replicas don’t help with write-intensive applications. 4. Multiple Database Instances – Amazon offers a fourth option: “You can implement partitioning,thereby spreading your data across multiple database Instances” (Link) However, Amazon does not offer any guidance or facilities to help you with this. “Multiple database instances” is not an RDS feature.  And Amazon doesn’t explain how to implement this idea. In fact, when asked, this is the response on an Amazon forum: Q: Is there any documents that describe the partition DB across multiple RDS? I need to use DB with more 1TB but exist a limitation during the create process, but I read in the any FAQ that you need to partition database, but I don’t find any documents that describe it. A: “DB partitioning/sharding is not an official feature of Amazon RDS or MySQL, but a technique to scale out database by using multiple database instances. The appropriate way to split data depends on the characteristics of the application or data set. Therefore, there is no concrete and specific guidance.” So now what? The answer is to scale out with ScaleBase. Amazon RDS with ScaleBase: What you get – MySQL Scalability! ScaleBase is specifically designed to scale out a single MySQL RDS instance into multiple MySQL instances. Critically, this is accomplished with no changes to your application code.  Your application continues to “see” one database.   ScaleBase does all the work of managing and enforcing an optimized data distribution policy to create multiple MySQL instances. With ScaleBase, data distribution, transactions, concurrency control, and two-phase commit are all 100% transparent and 100% ACID-compliant, so applications, services and tooling continue to interact with your distributed RDS as if it were a single MySQL instance. The result: now you can cost-effectively leverage multiple MySQL RDS instance to scale out write-intensive workloads to an unlimited number of users, transactions, and data. Amazon RDS with ScaleBase: What you keep – Everything! And how does this change your Amazon environment? 1. Keep your application, unchanged – There is no change your application development life-cycle at all.  You still use your existing development tools, frameworks and libraries.  Application quality assurance and testing cycles stay the same. And, critically, you stay with an ACID-compliant MySQL environment. 2. Keep your RDS value-added services – The value-added services that you rely on are all still available. Amazon will continue to handle database maintenance and updates for you. You can still leverage High Availability via Multi A-Z.  And, if it benefits youra application throughput, you can still use read replicas. 3. Keep your RDS administration – Finally the RDS monitoring and provisioning tools you rely on still work as they did before. With your one large MySQL instance, now split into multiple instances, you can actually use less expensive, smallersmaller available RDS hardware and continue to see better database performance. Conclusion Amazon RDS is a tremendous service, but it doesn’t offer solutions to scale beyond a single MySQL instance. Larger RDS instances get more expensive.  And when you max-out on the available hardware, you’re stuck.  Amazon recommends scaling out your single instance into multiple instances for transaction-intensive apps, but offers no services or guidance to help you. This is where ScaleBase comes in to save the day. It gives you a simple and effective way to create multiple MySQL RDS instances, while removing all the complexities typically caused by “DIY” sharding andwith no changes to your applications . With ScaleBase you continue to leverage the AWS/RDS ecosystem: commodity hardware and value added services like read replicas, multi A-Z, maintenance/updates and administration with monitoring tools and provisioning.     Yesterday, One of my friend Dharmendra ask me that why C# does not support multiple inheritance. This is question most of the people ask every time. So I thought it will be good to write a blog post about it. So why it does not support multiple inheritance? I tried to dig into the problem and I have found the some of good links from C# team from Microsoft for why it’s not supported in it. Let me explain a bit. If you have class that is inherited from the more then one classes and If two classes have same signature function then for child class object, It is impossible to call specific parent class method.   • Multiple Businesses at The Same Physical Address - SEO / Google Places

    I was wondering what kind if there would be any negative effects to have multiple businesses having the exact same physical address on their website. Currently we have five businesses at the exact same address and it shows on their website, so when people google one of the five businesses address their going to get multiple results from multiple website most of which will not be what their looking for. What is a way around this / what can I do about this? Would adding "Suite Numbers" be a solution? A thought occurred that it might be a good idea to create a landing page for users that are looking up a business by it's address via google. The page will bring up multiple businesses since we have a few at the same address but if we have a landing page at the top which then leads to multiple businesses that might solve the multiple address seo problem. Going to keep researching it though. I also know for Google Places (possible bing local and yahoo local) this could also become a problem. I've submitted an inquiry with them but I wanted to know if anybody had a ready-made solution around this so that Google doesn't bunch all these companies together into one. Thanks!

But my question is, how i make the animation inside those boxes. Foe example: in each box there is title, content and images. How do i make all the elements appear after each other, because with this code all the class elements are shown at once. But i would like that if user scrolls down, first the tittle appears, then the content and at the end the images. And then when user scrolls to the next box, the same process repeat's itself. I use some CSS3 delays, but in this case i don't know how long will user take to scroll down. thanks!

  • Android Webkit Input elements buggy with CSS3 translate3D

    I'm having a couple issues with the Input element in a Webkit Android App i'm developing. Testing on 2.X, but 3.x doesn't seem to have these issues... The app works by having separate Div's for each "page", and I'm using CSS3 translate3D to animate between the pages. Some of those pages include Input elements. When I tap on the input to gain focus, any of my "position:fixed" Div's will shift about 5px from the top, and 5px left. Now the kicker... it will eventually fix itself, and then never happen again when you tap on an input, its only that first time... My other problem, the Input elements are screwy with keyboards, for instance, spell corrections/autocomplete will not input text, and when using Swype Keyboard, you can't "swipe" the word, ONLY individual taps for each letter will input text into the Input element. I've read that a lot of these might be caused by CSS3 Translate3D. But, I've tried just about everything to fix these issues, and I've searched just about every site for a solution, but havent been able to find a fix, or find anyone else with this issue... Does anyone else have these issues, or know of a fix? (Possible solution??) Anyone know of a way to override the default behavior of Input elements in the webkit? I wonder if I can generate my own TextView and position it over these input fields...? Any help is greatly appreciated :)

    In Firefox, there is no problem. Sorry :( I'm using Isotope jQuery plugin, and the CSS3 transitions seem to cause the poor font-rendering. I'm also using Google Font API.   • Multiple file upload with asp.net 4.5 and Visual Studio 2012

    This post will be part of Visual Studio 2012 feature series. In earlier version of ASP.NET there is no way to upload multiple files at same time. We need to use third party control or we need to create custom control for that. But with asp.net 4.5 now its possible to upload multiple file with file upload control. With ASP.NET 4.5 version Microsoft has enhanced file upload control to support HTML5 multiple attribute. There is a property called ‘AllowedMultiple’ to support that attribute and with that you can easily upload the file. So what we are waiting for!! It’s time to create one example. On the default.aspx file I have written following. <asp:FileUpload ID="multipleFile" runat="server" AllowMultiple="true" /> <asp:Button ID="uploadFile" runat="server" Text="Upload files" onclick="uploadFile_Click"/> Here you can see that I have given file upload control id as multipleFile and I have set AllowMultiple file to true. I have also taken one button for uploading file.For this example I am going to upload file in images folder. As you can see I have also attached event handler for button’s click event. So it’s time to write server side code for this. Following code is for the server side. protected void uploadFile_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (multipleFile.HasFiles) { foreach(HttpPostedFile uploadedFile in multipleFile.PostedFiles) { uploadedFile.SaveAs(System.IO.Path.Combine(Server.MapPath("~/Images/"),uploadedFile.FileName)); Response.Write("File uploaded successfully"); } } } Here in the above code you can see that I have checked whether multiple file upload control has multiple files or not and then I have save that in Images folder of web application. Once you run the application in browser it will look like following. I have selected two files. Once I have selected and clicked on upload file button it will give message like following. As you can see now it has successfully upload file and you can see in windows explorer like following. As you can see it’s very easy to upload multiple file in ASP.NET 4.5. Stay tuned for more.     Hello, I wanna made "WiFi maps" and I have problem with do that, I wanna have 3 icons OPEN/WEP/WPA, and a lot of markers, and every marker with own infowindow, and only 1 infowindow on top, so when I will click #1 and then #2 then #1 will hide. And if I will have XXXX markers there will be problem with them on map in zoom out, there is possible to made it like when is much markers in one place all will not show in zoom out but in zoom in yes?     Hi, basically, I have 3 tables; users and projects (which is a many-to-many relationship), then I have 'usersprojects' to allow the one-to-many formation. When a user adds a project, I need the project information stored and then the 'userid' and 'projectid' stored in the usersprojects table. It sounds like its really straight forward but I'm having problems with the syntax I think!? As it stands, I have this as my INSERT queries (values going into 2 different tables): $project_id = $_POST['project_id']; $projectname = $_POST['projectname']; $projectdeadline = $_POST['projectdeadline']; $projectdetails = $_POST['projectdetails']; $user_id = $_POST['user_id']; $sql = "INSERT INTO projects (projectid, projectname, projectdeadline, projectdetails) VALUES ('{$projectid}','{$projectname}','{$projectdeadline}','{$projectdetails}')"; $sql = "INSERT INTO usersprojects (userid, projectid) VALUES ('{$userid}','{$projectid}')"; None of the information is being stored in the projects table, but the user ID is being stored in the usersprojects table (but not project ID!?)... I did have it working where the project information is stored correctly with a project ID, before I added this bit: $sql = "INSERT INTO usersprojects (userid, projectid) VALUES ('{$userid}','{$projectid}')"; But before the code above was put in, obviously no info is being stored in usersprojects table.   • Transparent PNG menu item backgrounds in IE6 with rollovers

    Hi I have been trying to do this for what feels like all my life I have a list menu with block display links, each link has a sliding doors png background image. I have used this javascript (http://www.ideashower.com/our_solutions/png-hover/) to implement the alphaimageloader fix for ie6 using a transparent gif. When I test it for the first time it works but if I click to a different page and then click back it doesn't work anymore - the menu completely disappears, I can get it to work again by duplicating the transparent gif and changing it's name, but again if I go to another page and then come back to it, it stops working and the menu dissappears. Is this a server caching issue or something like that. Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated! Thanks

    Is there any way how to use multiple SkyDrive accounts on one computer running MAC OS X or Windows 8? I would like to sync data from different accounts to different folder and not to merge these accounts to one. The reason is that every SkyDrive has it's storage limits and I'm using every account for different work data. The result should be the following: I have a number of SkyDrive accounts every for different work, let's say: S1 S2 S3 I would like to sync exactly the same number of folders on computer using different accounts to sync them: SkyDriveS1Folder - (folder on computer which syncing the content of S1 SkyDrive) SkyDriveS2Folder - (folder on computer which syncing the content of S2 SkyDrive) SkyDriveS3Folder - (folder on computer which syncing the content of S3 SkyDrive) Is it possible somehow? I found a workaround for Windows machines (http://superuser.com/questions/525932/running-multiple-instances-of-microsoft-skydrive) but is there anything for MAC OS X machines? Or is it possible through any third party application?

  • Sprite backgrounds

    I use cocos2d for iphone and in my game I'm using a sprite as static background image. I've noticed that when removing code for adding the sprite the framerate goes from ~30fps to over 40fps. Is it any other way to show a static background that is less expensive? I'm not moving the background sprite at all.
