• SQL to have one specific record at the top, all others below

  Hey all, I am trying to put together a query that will display one specific record (found by the record's primary ID) at the top, and display all other records below it, sorted by date (I have "date_added" as one of the fields in the table, in addition to primary ID). I could do this with a UNION (first select would locate the record I want, and the other select would display all other records), but I'm wondering if is there perhaps a better way? I'm using Oracle, by the way.

  When programmatically changing the current record in the DataGridView is it possible to make it in such way that this record would be centered (vertically) in the grid? When I change the current record it is shown either as the top row or as the bottom row. I'd like it to be in the middle. Would this be possible/simpler in WPF?

  I have a set of data, and while the number of fields and tables it joins with is quite complex, I believe I can distill my problem down using the required fields/tables here for illustration regarding this particular problem. So in the above example, for record 001002003 I would want to show the close prices from Vendor 1 and Vendor 2 because they both have a weight of 1 (the minimum weight for that record). But for 111222333 I would want to show just the bid price from Vendor 3 because its weight of 2 is the minimum, non-zero for that record. The result that I'm after would like like: RecordID Description Source Price Type Weight ============================================================= 001002003 ABC Common Stock Vendor 1 104.5 Close 1 001002003 ABC Common Stock Vendor 2 106 Close 1 111222333 DEF Preferred Stk Vendor 3 80 Bid 2 Any ideas on how to achieve this? • How can I create (or do I even need to create) an alias of a DNS MX record?

  I am in the process of moving my DNS records from Network Solutions to the Amazon Route 53 service. While I know and understand a little about the basic kinds of records, I am stumped on how to create the record that will point to the MX record on Network Solutions (if I'm even saying that right). On Network Solutions I have this: Mail Servers (MX Records) Note: Mail Servers are listed in rank order myapp.net Add Sub-Domain MXMailServer(Preference) TTL inbound.myapp.net.netsolmail.net.(10) 7200 Network Solutions E-mail I have read that the payload for an MX record state that it must point to an existing A record in the DNS. Yet in the example above, that inbound.myapp... record only has the words "Network Solutions E-mail" next to it. Our email is hosted at Network Solutions. I have already created the CNAME records that look like this: mail.myapp.net 7200 mail.mycarparts.net.netsolmail.net. smtp.myapp.net 7100 smtp.mycarparts.net.netsolmail.net. Since I am only using Amazon as the DNS, do I even need to do anything with that MX record? I appreciate your help, I googled and researched this before I posted, this is my first post on webmasters although I've been on SO for a few years.

• ExtJs - Set a fixed width in a center layout in a Panel

  Hi all, Using ExtJs. I'm trying to design a main which is divided into three sub panels (a tree list, a grid and a panel). The way it works is that you have a tree list (west) with elements, you click on an element which populates the grid (center), then you click on an element in the grid and that generates the panel (west). My main panel containing the three other ones has been defined with a layout 'border'. Now the problem I face is that the center layout (the grid) has been defined in the code with a fixed width and the west panel as an auto width. But when the interface gets generated, the grid width is suddenly taking all the space in the interface instead of the west panel. • ASP.NET MVC, Url Routing: Maximum Path (URL) Length

  The Scenario I have an application where we took the good old query string URL structure: ?x=1&y=2&z=3&a=4&b=5&c=6 and changed it into a path structure: /x/1/y/2/z/3/a/4/b/5/c/6 We're using ASP.NET MVC and (naturally) ASP.NET routing. The Problem The problem is that our parameters are dynamic, and there is (theoretically) no limit to the amount of parameters that we need to accommodate for. This is all fine until we got hit by the following train: HTTP Error 400.0 - Bad Request ASP.NET detected invalid characters in the URL. IIS would throw this error when our URL got past a certain length. The Nitty Gritty Here's what we found out: This is not an IIS problem IIS does have a max path length limit, but the above error is not this. Learn dot iis dot net How to Use Request Filtering Section "Filter Based on Request Limits" If the path was too long for IIS, it would throw a 404.14, not a 400.0. Besides, the IIS max path (and query) length are configurable: <requestLimits maxAllowedContentLength="30000000" maxUrl="260" maxQueryString="25" /> This is an ASP.NET Problem After some poking around: IIS Forums Thread: ASP.NET 2.0 maximum URL length? http://forums.iis.net/t/1105360.aspx it turns out that this is an ASP.NET (well, .NET really) problem. The shit of the matter is that, as far as I can tell, ASP.NET cannot handle paths longer than 260 characters. The nail in the coffin in that this is confirmed by Phil the Haack himself: Stack Overflow ASP.NET url MAX_PATH limit Question ID 265251 The Question So what's the question? The question is, how big of a limitation is this? For my app, it's a deal killer. For most apps, it's probably a non-issue. What about disclosure? No where where ASP.NET Routing is mentioned have I ever heard a peep about this limitation. The fact that ASP.NET MVC uses ASP.NET routing makes the impact of this even bigger. What do you think?

• Problem with dropdownbox length

  Hello, I'm creating a javascript method that populates lists depending on a radio button selected previously. As it depends on animals or plants to populate it, my problem comes when I have to populate it after it's already been populated. I mean, the plants dropdownlist has 88 elements, and the animals is 888, when I try to come back from animals to plants, I get some of the animals. I know that my controller method is working properly because it returns the values I select, so the problem is the javascript method. As sOrder is the same selector I had previously selected, I get the elements, the thing is that the first alert I get the proper result, 888, but in the second alert, I should get a 0 right? It shows 444, so when I populate it again it just overrides the first 88 plants and then animals till 444. What am I doing wrong? Thank you all in advance, Victor

  Hi When trying to extract the title of a html-page I have always used the following regex: (?<=<title.*>)([\s\S]*)(?=</title>) Which will extract everything between the tags in a document and ignore the tags themselves.   My coworker and I are debugging an issue in a WCF service he's working on where a string's length isn't being evaluated correctly. (None of the projects involved have optimizations enabled). • Faking Fixed Position in IE6

  I have a site that utilizes a bottom fixed position masthead here: http://www.entheospartners.com/newsite/ This setup works great in all browsers except IE6, which doesn't support fixed positioning in the least, so here's what I've done: When an IE6 user comes to the page, I make the determination if scrolling is necessary using this bit of code: var windowHeight = $(window).height(); var totalHeight = windowHeight - 100; // where 100 is the sum of the top nav height + footer height var contentHeight; if($('#subpage-content-small').length) { // main content div for a three column layout contentHeight = $('#subpage-content-small').height(); }; if($('#subpage-content-wide').length) { // main content div for a two column layout contentHeight = $('#subpage-content-wide').height(); }; if(contentHeight > totalHeight) { $('#container-container').css({ 'overflow-y' : "scroll", 'height' : totalHeight }); }; ...which calculates everything correctly, puts the scrollbars where they need to be (flush right), and sets them to the appropriate height. The problem is that the scrollbars don't move the content. I can't say that I've ever seen anything quite like this before, so I'm hoping someone else on here has. Thanks in advance! PS - Obviously, this needs to be looked at in IE6 for troubleshooting, which I know will be as painful for you as it is for me.

  I'm trying to write a short function that will let me quickly read in a file of unknown size and return pointer to the array of data and the length of that array but it seems my code isn't working.   I would like to use the facilities provided by stringstream to extract values from a fixed-format string as a type-safe alternative to sscanf. How can I do this? Consider the following specific use case. I have a std::string in the following fixed format: YYYYMMDDHHMMSSmmm Where: YYYY = 4 digits representing the year MM = 2 digits representing the month ('0' padded to 2 characters) DD = 2 digits representing the day ('0' padded to 2 characters) HH = 2 digits representing the hour ('0' padded to 2 characters) MM = 2 digits representing the minute ('0' padded to 2 characters) SS = 2 digits representing the second ('0' padded to 2 characters) mmm = 3 digits representing the milliseconds ('0' padded to 3 characters) Previously I was doing something along these lines: string s = "20101220110651184"; unsigned year = 0, month = 0, day = 0, hour = 0, minute = 0, second = 0, milli = 0; sscanf(s.c_str(), "%4u%2u%2u%2u%2u%2u%3u", &year, &month, &day, &hour, &minute, &second, &milli ); The width values are magic numbers, and that's ok. I'd like to use streams to extract these values and convert them to unsigneds in the interest of type safety. But when I try this: stringstream ss; ss << "20101220110651184"; ss >> setw(4) >> year; year retains the value 0. It should be 2010. How do I do what I'm trying to do? I can't use Boost or any other 3rd party library, nor can I use C++0x.

• Emailing a fixed document through Outlook

  I've added functionality to an application that prints out a bunch of information to a FixedDOcument and sends this off to the printer. This works just fine, however the request is that there be an in application function that emails the document using OUtlook and its here that I come unstuck. I'd very much like to just reuse the class that makes the fixed document for printing to generate the text for email, but I'm struggling to do this. I've tried the following... Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Application oApp = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Application(); MailItem email = (MailItem)(oApp.CreateItem(OlItemType.olMailItem)); email.Recipients.Add("[email protected]"); email.Subject = "Hello"; email.Body = "TEST"; FixedDocument doc = CreateReport(); //make my fixed document //this doesn't work, and the parameters it takes suggest it never will email.Attachments.Add(doc, OlAttachmentType.olByValue, 1, null); email.Send(); I can't help but think I'm on completely the wrong tack here, but I don't really want to have to write a bunch of new text formatting (since email.Body only takes a string) when I've already got the content formatted how I want it. Note that the content is all textual, so I don't really care if it gets sent as an attachment or as text in the emails body. Ideally if its sent as an attachment it won't be saved anywhere permanently. Any pointers?

  In a nutshell I need a CSS solution for the following requirements: Layout: One centered column with fixed width and a minimum height of 100% Two vertically repeated background images behind the centered column, one aligned to the left, one aligned to the right Cross browser compatibility A little more details Today a new requirement for my current web site project came up: A background image with gradients on the left and right side. The challenge is now to specify two different background images while keeping the rest of the layout spec. Unfortunately the (simple) layout somehow doesn't go with the two backgrounds. My layout is basically one centered column with fixed width: #main_container { margin: 0 auto; min-height: 100%; width: 800px; } Furthermore it's necessary to stretch the column to a minimum height of 100%, since there are quite some pages with only little content. The following CSS styles take care of that: html { height: 100%; } body { margin: 0; height: 100%; padding: 0; } So far so good - until the two background image issue arrived...   I am a Network Admin from India, managing a large University Network of more than 15000 users. Here goes my problem - My DNS is unable to get ip address for ns1.p34.dynect.net. when i use dig +trace twitter.com on my DNS Server i get this messages:- dig: couldn't get address for 'ns1.p34.dynect.net': failure and this is happening with all those sites listed with dynect.net like twitter,linkedin,quora etc. Find the attached screen shot for the same message. Right now I have temporally fixed (not actually fixed) the problem using Google DNS (8.8.8.8) What could be the issue as It is able to resolve all other sites perfectlly. • CNAME subdomain of subdomain with content on first subdomain

  Okay so maybe that title is a bit confusing but here is what I'm trying to do: I have a subdomain with content at my.example.com I want to set up something like sub.my.example.com This does not seem to work if there is content on my.example.com However if there is not content on the first subdomain it seems that it's okay to CNAME the record to example2.org This is my first real experiance with CNAME so I'm wondering about common errors to check for. my.example.com is an A record and sub.my.example.com is a CNAME EDIT I am managing the DNS though Web Host Manger (WHM) Dns records. The content is at http://vbx.knowconceptdw.net and I'm trying to set a voicemail CNAME to point to http://api.twillio.com at http://voicemail.vbx.knowconceptdw.net

  I'd like to connect my PC to an HDTV using an HDMI-HDMI cable. The distance between them is about 8 m; is the length going to be an issue? I'm worried the signal might deteriorate over such a distance. Also, does price have any major impact on the signal quality? I'd like to buy an 8-10 m cable for somewhere around 20$. Would such a cheap cable be good for what I want?

  this code below will throw : Exception in thread "main" java.sql.SQLException: Unable to connect to any hosts due to exception: java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 40 mysql 5.1, jdbc driver 5.1.21 if I change connection string to any database have name's lengh != 9, it will pass to print 'connected'. or I create other database as '123456789' it throw same exception.
