  • No screens found error with glasen/intel-driver

    A lot of people seem to have had success in getting hardware acceleration for intel 82852/855GM chipsets with the ppa:glasen/intel-driver. I've tried it on my Motion Computing M1400 but get a "no screens found" error. I've found one person out there with a similar problem who seemed to fix it, but his solution is in German and seems to involve recompiling the kernel (it's at the bottom of the comments). Anyone able to see how to fix this without such drastic measures?

    I have a dual boot set up on a Lenovo Ideapad Y500 with NVIDIA 750M and I am having problems installing the graphics cards. I have made sure to install both linux-headers-generic and linux-source, and yet have ended up with a black screen whether I install nvidia-current, nvidia-current-updates, nvidia-experimental-310, and nvidia-319. I even tried enabling proprietary drivers through settings and still ended up with a black screen on boot. Is my graphics card just not supported yet, or is there a way to fix this?

Also the Base System Drivers have yellow flags near them and it states that the The drivers for this device are not installed. I have tried quite a few of them, from my google searches, but none work, they all come up and say no proper driver can be found for your hardware.   • Enable automatic driver install in Windows XP

    When Windows detects new hardware (be it graphic card or USB Peripheral) it automatically installs driver and if it can't find a driver it shows "Found New hardware wizard" that allows you to manually select a driver. My problem is that this "Found New hardware wizard" shows up every time when I plug a new device and I have to click Next Next Next.. until it finishes installation. It's just like in Windows 98 ;) I want to fix it to the way it's supposed to be. It's got nothing to do with "Windows Update" and "Driver Signing" settings in "System properties - Hardware" tab, those are on default settings. Here is the same problem I have, but those replies ale completely useless

  • Installing CUDA on Ubuntu 12.04 with nvidia driver 295.59

    I have been trying to get cuda to run on a nvidia gt 650m based laptop. I am running Ubuntu 12.04 with the nvidia 295.59 driver. Also, my laptop uses Optimus so I have install the driver via bumblebee. Bumblebee is not working correctly yet -- however I believe it is possible to install CUDA independently. To install CUDA I have followed the instructions detailed here: How can I get nVidia CUDA or OpenCL working on a laptop with nVidia discrete card/Intel Integrated Graphics? However I am still running into problem building the sdk.     When I try to update a driver via the device manager, windows 7 tells me that windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date even though I know that mine is newer (due to the version number), and refuses to install it. WIthin jockey.log it says the following numerous times. 2011-02-14 21:24:06,945 DEBUG: BroadcomWLHandler enabled(): kmod disabled, bcm43xx: blacklisted, b43: blacklisted, b43legacy: blacklisted After it returns the error the network card will work temporarily until I restart the laptop. When I restart I got to go through the procedure again of trying to activate the driver, returns an error however it works temporarily. The network card is as follows on a Dell Inspiron 1545: Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY [14e4:4315] Rev 01 I have been trying to solve this myself for many hours. Any help is appreciated/

    Hello. How can I determine the baud rates supported by my serial driver? My driver details (from the Device Manager) follow, but they do not seem very helpful. I am writing an application that is crashing because I am apparently attempting to to set COM1 to an unsupported baud rate, so I need to know which baud rates the driver does support.   • Why is my wi-fi STILL not working?

    i have 10.10, and have gotten ndiswrapper and the proper driver, it installed properly, but still my wi-fi isn't working. In terminal it say its disabled, but its enabled EVERYWHERE... even when I exited windows. Right now i'm left to use an Ethernet cord and a second computer... please help. My windows isn't in good condition and I would love to switch to Ubuntu... but wi-fi is definitely a need. FYI, I have a toshiba satellite a505d-s6958 with the realtek rtl819[somehting something something]... but I have the driver from their webisite... I really just need to get my wifi to work

  • Sharp mx2600 driver cannot see all the paper trays

    I am wondering if someone might have experienced this problem and have a solution. I have just taken over a network about a month ago so it is hard to know what truly worked and didn't work. However the end users reported that they used to be able to choose the tray they wanted to print from in the printer preferences in the driver for the Sharp MX2600n device then send the print job. Now they only have two trays to choose from instead of the four trays that exist. The only thing I have changed that might relate to this network device is the Admin password on the domain controller. I haven't made any changes to the Sharp device or the driver, until recently when I tired to update the driver for this device but that didn't fix anything. The domain controller is a Server 2008 VM running in Hyper-visor and it is pushing the shared printer out to the domain. I have looked at the web interface to manage the device and I can see all four paper trays in there, however if I try to see the number of trays from the driver interface, I can only see the top two paper trays and there should be four of them. This is the same with the admin account on the server or a workstation inside the domain, also a standard user account see's the same result. I have even tried updating the tray status within the driver to show more trays, but that doesn't help. I am hoping there is someone out there that has experienced this problem and knows a solution.

    I have an ASUS N76VZ laptop with 12.2 openSUSE and GeForce GT650M card. I found that KDE doesn't allow me to use OpenGL rendering. I tried to install nVidia's driver from script but once it writes the xorg.conf file I'm unable to boot desktop.   • Broadcom BCM4313 working, but terribly slow

    Hi all, I've installed ubuntu on a Asus 1015 netbook. Everything worked out of the box except for the Wireless adapter, which i had to install with the Additional Drivers application. It apparently installed fine and connects to our wireless network, but it only works at a "funny" speed range that goes from 367Bytes to a peak of 3Kb in its best moments. I know for sure the problem is neither the network nor the hardware. Network speeds are normal under windows on this laptop and in other computers with ubuntu aswell. lspci says the card is a BCM4313 model, but the Addittional Drivers Manager says these packecege contains Broadcom 802.11 Linux STA wireless driverfor use with Broadcom's BCM4311-, BCM4312-, BCM4321-, and BCM4322 based hardware seems like it installed the wrong driver... Is there anything I can do? I'm not concerned about compiling the driver or stuff like that, but I'm not sure on where to start... any help or guidance will be very, very appreciated.
