I'm developing a website using OpenCMS and am having a problem with creating links to files over which I loop using cms:contentload: <cms:contentload collector="allInFolder" param="faqs/|FaqFile" editable="false"> <b><a href="${opencms.filename}"><cms:contentshow element="Title" /></a></b><br /> </cms:contentload> This is a part of the index.jsp file. • mysql first record retrieval

  While very easy to do in Perl or PHP, I cannot figure how to use mysql only to extract the first unique occurence of a record. For example, given the following table: Name Date Time Sale John 2010-09-12 10:22:22 500 Bill 2010-08-12 09:22:37 2000 John 2010-09-13 10:22:22 500 Sue 2010-09-01 09:07:21 1000 Bill 2010-07-25 11:23:23 2000 Sue 2010-06-24 13:23:45 1000 I would like to extract the first record for each individual in asc time order. After sorting the table is ascending time order, I need to extract the first unique record by name. So the output would be : Name Date Time Sale John 2010-09-12 10:22:22 500 Bill 2010-07-25 11:23:23 2000 Sue 2010-06-24 13:23:45 1000 Is this doable in an easy fashion with mySQL? Thanks, Sammy

• IErrorHandler doesn't seem to be handling my errors in WCF .. any ideas?

  Have been readign around on IErrorHandler and want to go the config route. so, I have read the following in an attempt to implement it. MSDN Keyvan Nayyeri blog about the type defintion Rory Primrose Blog I have got it to compile and from the various errors i have fixed it seems like WCF is actually loading the error handler. My problem is that the exception that i am throwing to handle in the error handler doesn;t get the exception passed to it. My service implementation simply calls a method on another class that throws ArgumentOutOfRangeException - however this exception never gets handled by the handler. • What is the best way to join/merge two tables by column cell matching in Excel?

  I've found this excel add-in to buy that appears to do what I need, but I'd rather have code that's open to use as I wish. While a GUI is nice, it's not required. • Silverlight: how to use a scroll viewer to wrap a list view without specifying height?

  I have a control that has a list that varies in length greatly. This control appears in various places meaning that i cannot calculate its position and desired height easily. Moreover all I want is for the scrollviewer to simply size itself according to its parent. currently it insists on sizing itself according to the content. currently when i have a list that exceeds the height of the screen the whole control extends off the bottom and the scrollviewer shows no bar (because it has stretched to the heigth of the contents and so thinks it is not required). I've not included code as the object graph is fairly deep. What i am looking for is a set of conditions that would cause the scrollviewer to resize itself according to its content rather than its parent. I have it working in a similar situation involving grids and datagrids, the unique part of this control is that there is a list containing controls. Any ideas? I would prefer solutions that don't require use of code behind - but im really not in a position to be choosey.

  How do I Capture ASP.NET output and then store it as temp memory so that I can use them in an application to do comparison. example. there's this site which has ASP output. Sorry I do not have server access, what I can do is view the output. • Can MySQL Nested Select return list of results

  Hi I want to write a mysql statement which will return a list of results from one table along with a comma separated list of field from another table. I think an example might better explain it Table 1 ======================== id First_Name Surname ---------------------- 1 Joe Bloggs 2 Mike Smith 3 Jane Doe Table 2 ======================== id Person_Id Job_id --------------------- 1 1 1 2 1 2 3 2 2 4 3 3 5 3 4 I want to return a list of people with a comma separated list of job_ids. So my result set would be id First_Name Surname job_id ------------------------------ 1 Joe Bloggs 1,2 2 Mike Smith 2 3 Jane Doe 3,4 I guess the sql would be something like select id, First_Name, Surname, (SELECT job_id FROM Table 2) as job_id from Table 1 but obviously this does not work so need to change the '(SELECT job_id FROM Table 2) as job_id' part. • Changing Render Kits in Browser

  I'm working on a project to develop a cross-browser testing web app. Simply put, I'm tired of having to maintain multiple browsers on the same system and IE in VMware solely for the purpose of testing. Does anyone know if there is any way to change the render kit programmatically? For example, if I insert a URL, I would be able to load the URL and switch the browser render within a frame of some assortment. I am experienced with PHP, JS, and RoR if there is a solution using any of those. Thank you! John

• Get list of Unique many-to-many records from a queryset

  My models: class Order(models.Model): ordered_by = models.ForeignKey(User) reasons = models.ManyToManyField(Reason) class Reason(models.Model): description = models.CharField() Basically a user creates an order and gives reasons for that order. ie, john has two orders (one for pencils because he is out AND because he doesn't like his current stock. a second order for pens because he is out). I want to print a list out of all reasons a user has placed his orders. So under john, it should print "he is out", "he doesn't like his current stock"; those two lines only. If I simply select all of john's orders, iterate through them and print out their "reasons" it'll print "he is out", "he doesn't like his current stock" and then "he is out" again. I don't want these duplicate values. How do I select a list of his reasons for ALL his orders so that the list has all unique rows?

• Latest Binary builds of FLuentNhibernate + Nhibernate + Linq for NHibernate

• fetching a url using $.getJSON and parsing it correctly

  This is probably really stupid but i can't find the problem with my code. It fetches a url that returns json and the function is then supposed to return a string: function getit() { var ws_url = 'example.com/test.js'; var user = false; $.getJSON(ws_url, function(data) { alert('user '+data.user);//shows john user = data.user || false; } ); return user;//should return john but returns false } test.js will have something like this: {"id":"12","username":"ses","user":"john","error":""} or like this: {"error":"123"} I also tried if(data.user){}else{} but it didn't work either.. So what am i missing? Thanks :)

  Hi, I recently started to use AjaxControlToolkit v3.0.30930.0 in my application together with System.Web.Extension 3.5. My development environment is Visual Studio 2005, .NET Framework 2.0 and the development language is C#. The Ajax control I used is the ModalPopupExtender. I also used the UpdatePanel and updateprogress controls. Everything is working fine on my development machine. But I got a problem after I deployed the application to a server which does not have System.Web.Extension 3.5 installed, which is understandable. My question is, can the ajax controls I used work without System.Web.Extension 3.5? Say I revert the ajaxcontroltoolkit back to version 1.0.61025.0? I don't have the option to install .NET 3.5 as yet. Thank you for your help. John

• ASP.NET FileUpload

  Greetings! I am using the ASP.NET FileUpload control to allow users to upload text files to our web server. Everything works great in terms of saving the file to where we wanted, etc, using the SaveAs() method of the control. But we were caught off guard by one seemingly simple caveat: the original timestamp of the uploaded file was lost such as the date last modified and date create. The date last modified and date created become the actual date and time when the file is saved to the server. My question is: is there anyway to retain the original timestamp by setting some attributes that I am not aware of yet or is it possible to read the metadata of the file to get its original time stamp? Any in-sight and suggestions are greatly appreciated. John

• Setting a Silverlight textbox control's width relatively

  Hello, I tried searching on stackoverflow for an answer to my question but couldn't seem to find anything relevant. Since I'm relatively new to Silverlight, I'm not even sure if this is possible, but I am trying to figure out if it is possible to set a Silverlight textbox control's width value proportionally to it's immediate parent container? It would be nice to avoid hard coding a width value. Say you want to place a textbox control inside a horizontally aligned StackPanel control and have it's width always dynamically adjusted to be 80% of the total width of the StackPanel. Is this possible to do declaratively in your xaml markup, or will I need to resort to some codebehind attached to some event handler to accomplish this? fyi, I am currently using Visual Web Developer Express 2008 to write my silverlight code. thanks in advance, John

• mySQL - Separate Lastname,Firstname and CompanyName entries from a single column

  I've got a column in a database which contains company names, and customer names all in one field... what I'd like to do is keep the CompanyName column completely intact, but wherever there is a comma in the CompanyName I'd like to take that information and populate it into a FirstName and LastName field. So that basically... • Sharepoint SSRS: Unexpected Error Encountered

  We are running an intranet website hosted on Sharepoint 2007, serving reports to users via SSRS. Recently, our users are experiencing error when trying to access certain reports with the error message "An unexpected error has occurred". After trying many things, to cut a long story short we manage to temporarily solve the problem by manually running UPDATE STATISTICS on the tables in the database. However, this error will periodically crop up again and again, running UPDATE STATISTICS immediately solved it. I had suggested to run a daily job in the server to auto run UPDATE STATISTICS every few hours or so but was rejected by my team lead. Is there any other workaround for this error? Why does UPDATE STATISTICS solve the problem, I still not very understand?

  I'm doing some work on the input buffers for my kernel, and I had some questions. On Dual Core machines, I know that more than one "process" can be running simultaneously. What I don't know is how the OS and the individual programs work to protect collisions in data. There are two things I'd like to know on this topic: (1) Where do interrupts occur? Are they guaranteed to occur on one core and not the other, and could this be used to make sure that real-time operations on one core were not interrupted by, say, file IO which could be handled on the other core? (I'd logically assume that the interrupts would happen on the 1st core, but is that always true, and how would you tell? Or perhaps does each core have its own settings for interrupts? Wouldn't that lead to a scenario where each core could react simultaneously to the same interrupt, possibly in different ways?) (2) How does the dual core processor handle opcode memory collision? If one core is reading an address in memory at exactly the same time that another core is writing to that same address in memory, what happens? Is an exception thrown, or is a value read? (I'd assume the write would work either way.) If a value is read, is it guaranteed to be either the old or new value at the time of the collision? I understand that programs should ideally be written to avoid these kinds of complications, but the OS certainly can't expect that, and will need to be able to handle such events without choking on itself.

• Can I align the text in a C# balloon tip ?

  Hello, I wrote a little C# program that displays text in a balloon tip from time to time. When the text is in English, there's no problem : Everything is aligned to the left and is readable, but sometimes I have some Hebrew text and a left alignment of a RTL language gets all screwy. I was wondering if there's a way to right-align the Hebrew text ? Google pointed me to articles that can help me change the balloon color and font, but none of them have an alignment argument. Is it even possible ? Any help will be appropriated. John

• How do I programmatically create a bootable CD?

  I'm using a barebones tutorial as the basis for an OS I'm working on, and it seems to be an older tutorial: it has be compiling the kernel down to a floppy image, and then loading it with GRUB. Basically, I still want to use GRUB, but I'd like to have my OS run from a CD instead. The main reason is that I don't actually have a real floppy drive available (I'm testing in VirtualBox currently) and I thus have no way to test my OS on real hardware. I've been poking around on the net, and I can find lots of utilities that create a bootable CD from a floppy image, but these all seem to require an actual floppy drive, plus it's not really what I'm looking for. I'd like to be able to end up with a bootable CD during my make step ideally, without needing to first place the image on a floppy, which seems rather pointless. I guess the easy way to answer this: How do I set up GRUB to read my kernel image from a CD? Will I need a special utility to do this from Windows? (The kernel can't compile itself yet, that's not for a looong while) Thanks!
