  • getDate with Jquery Datepicker

    - by matt
    i am trying to get date from my implementation of jquery date picker, add it to a string and display the resulting image in my div. Something however is just not working. Can anyone check out the code and have a look at it? The code is supposed to take the date from date picker, combine it in a string which is to have the necessary code to display tag, images are located in /image and in the format aYY-MM-DD.png, new to this date picker and can't quite get it down yet. <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> <link type="text/css" href="css/ui-lightness/jquery-ui-1.8.custom.css" rel="stylesheet" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery-ui-1.8.custom.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(function(){ // Datepicker $('#datepicker').datepicker({ dateFormat: 'yy-mm-dd', inline: true, minDate: new Date(2010, 1 - 1, 1), maxDate:new Date(2010, 12 - 1, 31), altField: '#datepicker_value', }); //hover states on the static widgets $('#dialog_link, ul#icons li').hover( function() { $(this).addClass('ui-state-hover'); }, function() { $(this).removeClass('ui-state-hover'); } ); }); //var img_date = .datepicker('getDate'); var day1 = $("#datepicker").datepicker('getDate').getDate(); var month1 = $("#datepicker").datepicker('getDate').getMonth() + 1; var year1 = $("#datepicker").datepicker('getDate').getFullYear(); var fullDate = year1 + "-" + month1 + "-" + day1; var str_output = "<h1><center><img src=\"/images/a" + fullDate + ".png\"></center></h1><br/><br>"; page_output.innerHTML = str_output; // writing the results to the div element (page_out) </script> </head> <body style="background-color:#000;color:#fff;margin: auto auto;"> <!-- Datepicker --> <div id="datepicker"></div> <!-- Highlight / Error --> <p>Date Value: <input type="text" id="datepicker_value" /></p> <div id="page_output" style="text-align:center; margin-top:80px; margin-bottom:20px; "></div> </body>

However whenever I click on the down arrow (of the combobox) it causes a refresh that results in my modal window closing. How do I stop the refresh from occuring? (I am still new to jQuery) I am using UI 1.8 and jQuery 1.4.1.

  • jQuery monitoring form field created by AJAX query

    - by Jon Rhoades
    Preface: I am sure this is incredibly simple, but I have searched this site & the jQuery site and can't figure out the right search term to get an answer - please excuse my ignorance! I am adding additional form fields using jQuery's ajax function and need to then apply additional ajax functions to those fields but can't seem to get jQuery to monitor these on the fly form fields. How can I get jQuery to use these new fields? $(document).ready(function() { $('#formField').hide(); $('.lnk').click(function() { var t = this.id; $('#formField').show(400); $('#form').load('loader.php?val=' + t); }); //This works fine if the field is already present var name = $('#name'); var email = $('#email'); $('#uid').keyup(function () { var t = this; if (this.value != this.lastValue) { if (this.timer) clearTimeout(this.timer); this.timer = setTimeout(function () { $.ajax({ url: 'loader.php', data: 'action=getUser&uid=' + t.value, type: 'get', success: function (j) { va = j.split("|"); displayname = va[1]; mail = va[2]; name.val(displayname); email.val(mail); } }); }, 200); this.lastValue = this.value; } }); }); So if the is present in the basic html page the function works, but if it arrives by the $.load function it doesn't - presumably because $(document).ready has already started. I did try: $(document).ready(function() { $('#formField').hide(); $('.lnk').click(function() { var t = this.id; $('#formField').show(400); $('#form').load('loader.php?val=' + t); prepUid(); }); }); function prepUid(){ var name = $('#name'); var email = $('#email'); $('#uid').keyup(function () { snip........... But it didn't seem to work...

  • What is the best alternative for jQuery thickbox

    - by Teja Kantamneni
    As jQuery thickbox is not maintained anymore (as of ThickBox 3.1), what is the best alternative for jQuery thickbox currently available under GPL or similar license. Looks nyromodal is best available so far, but is there anything better. (nyromodal has some problems in IE 6) I am looking for a plugin which can handle ajax forms, inline content replacement, images, using hidden elements and ajax call with flexibility using the callback mechanisms..

  • jQuery UI Tabs Not Working

    - by Christopher
    I just downloaded jQuery UI Tabs. In the included index.html file, it works fine, CSS and all, with no customization. I copied the files over to my web server, keeping the directory structure intact, and copied the content code to my already-existing index.html, but it does not work. My Header Code <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></script> <link type="text/css" href="css/start/jquery-ui-1.8.custom.css" rel="stylesheet" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery-ui-1.8.custom.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(function(){ // Tabs $('#tabs').tabs(); }); </script> My Body Code <div id="tabs"> <ul> <li><a href="#tabs-1">First</a></li> <li><a href="#tabs-2">Second</a></li> <li><a href="#tabs-3">Third</a></li> </ul> <div id="tabs-1">Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. • trigger jQuery function after location.reload() completes

    - by raj
    I have a Rails app that allows users to login via jQuery modal form. Once logged in, I refresh the original page using location.reload(). At this point, I'm attempting to create a new jQuery dialog. How can I open the dialog only after location.reload() has finished executing? Right now the dialog is loading up before location.reload() is done. This is causing the dialog to disappear.

  • Facebook style JQuery autocomplete plugin

    - by Luke Lowrey
    Im after a plugin to do autocomplete like facebook does in that you can select multiple items - similar to how tagging a stackoverflow question works. Here are a couple I ran into: http://wharsojo.wordpress.com/2008/02/18/jquery-facebook-autocomplete http://www.emposha.com/javascript/fcbkcomplete.html http://loopj.com/2009/04/25/jquery-plugin-tokenizing-autocomplete-text-entry/ Have you tried any of these? Were they easy to implement and customize?

  • Simple JQuery Validator addMethod not working

    - by tehaaron
    Updated question on the bottom I am trying to validate a super simple form. Eventually the username will be compared to a RegExp statement and the same will go for the password. However right now I am just trying to learn the Validator addMethod format. I currently have this script: JQuery.validator.addMethod( "legalName", function(value, element) { if (element.value == "bob") { return false; } else return true; }, "Use a valid username." ); $(document).ready(function() { $("#form1").validate({ rules: { username: { legalName: true } }, }); }); Which if I am not mistaken should return false and respond with "Use a valid username." if I were to put "bob" into the form. However, it is simply submitting it. I am linking to JQuery BEFORE Validator in the header like instructed. My uber simple form looks like this: <form id="form1" method="post" action=""> <div class="form-row"><span class="label">Username *</span><input type="text" name="username" /></div> <div class="form-row"><input class="submit" type="submit" value="Submit"></div> </form> Finally how would I go about restructing the addMethod function to return true if and false at the else stage while keeping the message alert for a false return? (ignore this last part if you don't understand what I was trying to say :) ) Thanks in advance. Thank to everyone who pointed out my JQuery - jQuery typo. New Ideally, I am trying to turn this into a simple login form (username/password). It is for demonstration only so it wont have a database attached or anything, just some simple js validations. I am looking to make the username validate for <48 characters, only english letters and numbers, no special characters. I thought a whitelist would be easiest so I had something like this: ^[a-zA-Z0-9]*${1,48} but I am not sure if that is proper JS RegExp (it varies from Ruby RegExp if I am not mistaken?...Usually I use rubular.com). Password will be similar but require some upper/lowercase and numbers. I believe I need to make another $.validator.addMethod for legalPassword that will look very similar.

  • Using jQuery live() to initialize plugins?

    - by cxfx
    Using jQuery, what's the best way to automatically initialize a plugin on all current and future elements of a specific class? For example, say I want all <input type="text" class="datepicker" /> elements to have the jQuery UI Datepicker plugin, including any I might create at runtime. Essentially, I want to do something like this: $('.datepicker').live('create', function() { $(this).datepicker(); }); But, of course, there isn't a create event I can use.

  • How to update strongly typed Html.DropDownList using Jquery

    - by Remnant
    I have a webpage with two radiobuttons and a dropdownlist as follows: <div class="sectionheader">Course <div class="dropdown"><%=Html.DropDownList("CourseSelection", Model.CourseList, new { @class = "dropdown" })%> </div> <div class="radiobuttons"><label><%=Html.RadioButton("CourseType", "Advanced", false )%> Advanced </label></div> <div class="radiobuttons"><label><%=Html.RadioButton("CourseType", "Beginner", true )%> Beginner </label></div> </div> The dropdownlist is strongly typed and populated with Model.CourseList (NB - on the first page load, 'Beginner' is the default selection and the dropdown shows the beginner course options accordingly) What I want to be able to do is to update the DropDownList based on which radiobutton is selected i.e. if 'Advanced' selected then show one list of course options in dropdown, and if 'Beginner' selected then show another list of courses. The code I would like to call sits within my Controller: public JsonResult UpdateDropDown(string courseType) { IDropDownList dropdownlistRepository = new DropDownListRepository(); IEnumerable<SelectListItem> courseList = dropdownlistRepository.GetCourseList(courseType); return Json(courseList); } Edit - Updated below to show latest position Using examples provided in jQuery in Action, I now have the following jQuery code: $('.radiobuttons input:radio').click(function() { var courseType = $(this).val(); //Get selected courseType from radiobutton var dropdownList = $(".dropdown"); //Ref for dropdownlist $.getJSON("/ByCourse/UpdateDropDown", { courseType: courseType }, function(data) { $(dropdownList).loadSelect(data); }); }); The loadSelect function is taken straight from the book and is as follows: (function($) { $.fn.emptySelect = function() { return this.each(function() { if (this.tagName == 'SELECT') this.options.length = 0; }); } $.fn.loadSelect = function(optionsDataArray) { return this.emptySelect().each(function() { if (this.tagName == 'SELECT') { var selectElement = this; $.each(optionsDataArray, function(index, optionData) { var option = new Option(optionData.Text, optionData.Value); if ($.browser.msie) { selectElement.add(option); } else { selectElement.add(option, null); } }); } }); } })(jQuery); 1 day+ later I still cannot get this to work. Assuming the jQuery code is correct then I can only think that the issue is with retrieving the actual data with $getJSON. I have verified that JsonResult UpdateDropDown does actually retrieve valid data. What am I missing? Assembly reference? (NB: I have MicrosoftAjax.js and MicrosoftMvcAjax.js in my head tags of the master page Should JsonResult be ActionResult? (I have seen both used in samples on web) Do I need to register route Controller/UpdateDropDown in Global.asax? Any further guidance would be appreciated.

  • jQuery slider not visible after container div is toggled

    - by Shahar Evron
    I have a page which contains a jQuery-UI horizontal slider, created using a little function, inside a div which can be displayed / hidden by clicking on it's title, using $.toggle(). Problem is, once the div is hidden, when it is expanded the slider is gone. A simplified demo of the problem can be seen here: http://arr.gr/jquery-issue.html (file contains all relevant source code) - when clicking the "Advanced Options" title to hide and then show the div, the slider is no longer there. Any suggestions on how to work around this?

  • Programming a callback function within a jQuery plugin

    - by ILMV
    I'm writing a jQuery plug-in so I can reuse this code in many places as it is a very well used piece of code, the code itself adds a new line to a table which has been cloned from a hidden row, it continues to perform a load of manipulations on the new row. I'm currently referencing it like this: $(".abc .grid").grid(); But I want to include a callback so each area the plug-in is called from can do something a bit more unique when the row has been added. I've used the jQuery AJAX plug-in before, so have used the success callback function, but cannot understand how the code works in the background. Here's what I want to achieve: $(".abc .grid").grid({ row_added: function() { // do something a bit more specific here } }); Here's my plug-in code (function($){ $.fn.extend({ //pass the options variable to the function grid: function() { return this.each(function() { grid_table=$(this).find('.grid-table > tbody'); grid_hidden_row=$(this).find('.grid-hidden-row'); //console.debug(grid_hidden_row); $(this).find('.grid-add-row').click(function(event) { /* * clone row takes a hidden dummy row, clones it and appends a unique row * identifier to the id. Clone maintains our jQuery binds */ // get the last id last_row=$(grid_table).find('tr:last').attr('id'); if(last_row===undefined) { new_row=1; } else { new_row=parseInt(last_row.replace('row',''),10)+1; } // append element to target, changes it's id and shows it $(grid_table).append($(grid_hidden_row).clone(true).attr('id','row'+new_row).removeClass('grid-hidden-row').show()); // append unique row identifier on id and name attribute of seledct, input and a $('#row'+new_row).find('select, input, a').each(function(id) { $(this).appendAttr('id','_row'+new_row); $(this).replaceAttr('name','_REPLACE_',new_row); }); // disable all the readonly_if_lines options if this is the first row if(new_row==1) { $('.readonly_if_lines :not(:selected)').attr('disabled','disabled'); } }); $(this).find('.grid-remove-row').click(function(event) { /* * Remove row does what it says on the tin, as well as a few other house * keeping bits and pieces */ // remove the parent tr $(this).parents('tr').remove(); // recalculate the order value5 //calcTotal('.net_value ','#gridform','#gridform_total'); // if we've removed the last row remove readonly locks row_count=grid_table.find('tr').size(); console.info(row_count); if(row_count===0) { $('.readonly_if_lines :disabled').removeAttr('disabled'); } }); }); } }); })(jQuery); I've done the usually searching on elgooG... but I seem to be getting a lot of noise with little result, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • jquery 1.4.1 breaks my slideshow

    - by JMC Creative
    After toying with the jquery slideshow extension, I created my own that better suited my purposes ( I didn't like that all the images needed to load at the beginning for instance). Now, upon upgrading to jQuery 1.4.2 (I know I'm late), the slideshow loads the first image fine ( from the line$('div#slideshow img#ssone').fadeIn(1500); towards the bottom), but doesn't do anything beyond that. Does anyone have any idea which jquery construct is killing my script? The live page is at lplonline.org which is using 1.3.2 for the time being. Thanks in advance. Array.prototype.random = function( r ) { var i = 0, l = this.length; if( !r ) { r = this.length; } else if( r > 0 ) { r = r % l; } else { i = r; r = l + r % l; } return this[ Math.floor( r * Math.random() - i ) ]; }; jQuery(function($){ var imgArr = new Array(); imgArr[1] = "wp-content/uploads/rotator/Brbrshop4-hrmnywkshp72006.jpg"; imgArr[2] = "wp-content/uploads/rotator/IMGA0125.JPG"; //etc, etc, about 30 of these are created dynamically from a db function randImgs () { var randImg = imgArr.random(); var img1 = $('div#slideshow img#ssone'); var img2 = $('div#slideshow img#sstwo'); if(img1.is(':visible') ) { img2.fadeIn(1500); img1.fadeOut(1500,function() { img1.attr({src : randImg}); }); } else { img1.fadeIn(1500); img2.fadeOut(1500,function() { img2.attr({src : randImg}); }); } } setInterval(randImgs,9000); // 9 SECONDS $('div#slideshow img#ssone').fadeIn(1500); }); </script> <div id="slideshow"> <img id="ssone" style="display:none;" src="wp-content/uploads/rotator/quote-investments.png" alt="" /> <img id="sstwo" style="display:none;" src="wp-content/uploads/rotator/quote-drugs.png" alt="" /> </div>
