  • Using Thunderbird and gmail, sent items appear as unread in "All Mail"

    I'm using a gmail account in Thunderbird. When I send a message, a new mail notification appears (sound and system try icon), an unread message appears in the gmail All Mail folder, and the account name turns blue. I have to click on "Sent Mail" or "All Mail" to get rid of the notification. Unsubscribing from "All Mail" is not effective (it still turns the account name blue). This seems to be popping up elsewhere (example), but nobody has posted a helpful answer. How do I keep Thunderbird from thinking that a sent message is new unread mail in the All Mail folder?

    Hi all, do anyone know how to alter the mail-from of a postfix mail server? Example, I have a postfix mail server which sends mail for the domain example.org. When a linux user, whose account is user.example.org (mapped in postfix/virtual to [email protected]), try to send an email, its mail from is [email protected]. HELO hostname: server.hostname.org Source IP: one ip here mail-from: [email protected] Problems: user.example.org instead of just user. server.hostname.org instead of just example.org. Desired mail-from: [email protected]. This is causing me problems with SPF records for example (example.org differs from server.hostname.org)... any idea of what can be the problem? Please check error log.'; } ?> I get the Mail sent message but don't receive a message in my inbox. Not even in the spam folder.   • How to search inbox using zend mail

    The following is a function from zend_mail_protocol_imap. i read that to search emails, I would want to override it using zend_mail_storage_imap (which is what I'm using now to grab email from gmail). I copy and pasted the following function into zend_mail_storage_imap, but I'm having issues with the params. I can't find documentation on what to use for the array $params. I initially thought it was the search term before reading it more thoroughly. I'm out of ideas. For some reason the function won't validate this IP as valid: 203.81.192.26 I'm not too great with regular expressions, so would appreciate any help on what could be wrong.   • Ajax div can't access address bar variable

    Can someone please advise me on how my Ajax div can get an address bar variable. The usual way just doesn't work. My address bar currently looks like this: http://localhost/social3/browse/?locationName=Cambridge Usually, I would use a little php and do this: $searchResult = $_POST['locationName']; echo $searchResult; But because I'm in an Ajax div, I can't seem to get to the variable. Do I need to add some JavaScript wizardry to my Ajax coding? I have a database table which contains an unsigned integer field to store the visitor's IP address: `user_ip` INT(10) UNSIGNED DEFAULT NULL, Here's the snippet of PHP code which tries to store the IP address: $ipaddr = $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']; if ($stmt = mysqli_prepare($dbconn, 'INSERT INTO visitors(user_email, user_ip) VALUES (?,?)')) { $remote_ip = "INET_ATON('$ipaddr')"; mysqli_stmt_bind_param($stmt, 'ss', $email, $remote_ip); if (mysqli_stmt_execute($stmt) === FALSE) return FALSE; $rows_affected = mysqli_stmt_affected_rows($stmt); mysqli_stmt_close($stmt); } The INSERT operation succeeds, however the user_ip field contains a null value. I have also tried changing the parameter type in mysqli_stmt_bind_param() (which was set to string in the above example) to integer, i.e. mysqli_bind_param(... 'si',...) - but to no avail. I've also tried using the following bit of code instead of mysql's INET_ATON() SQL function: function IP_ATON($ipaddr) { $trio = intval(substr($ipaddr,0,3)); return ($trio>127) ? ((ip2long($ipaddr) & 0x7FFFFFFF) + 0x80000000) : ip2long($ipaddr); } It still doesn't work - the 'user_ip' field is still set to null. I've tried passing the $ip_addr variable as both integer & string in mysqli_bind_param() - to no avail. It seems the problem lies with the parameterized insert. The following "old-style" code works without any problem: mysqli_query(..., "INSERT INTO visitors(user_email, user_ip) VALUES ('$email',INET_ATON('$ipaddr'))"); What am I doing wrong here? I have one particular issue that has been a little bit of a problem. there is an instance where one of the pages will need to send around 50 emails at near the same time. I would like the messages sent to a queue where a background thread will actually do the email sending. What is the appropriate way to solve this problem?   • Can I see the SMTP session log when Mail.app connects to an SMPT server?

    Problem: I've set up a mail server using SASL authentication, and have given Mail.app (on Mac Os 10.4) the login information it needs to connect. I wrote a test message for it to deliver to my server: the Activity window shows that it tries to deliver the message, but then it simply stops, with no indication of error, except that the test message is left in the Outbox. How can I find out what went wrong? Is there some log file I don't know about?

    Hi, i'm working on a simple mail list app in PHP using Zend Mail. The idea is that all mail that bounce is redirected to a script which processes them and a report is generated. The script is running ok in direct tests, but I've testing it with fake mail address to test the mail list app, and it appears that the mail is not being redirected to the correct email address. Zend Mail provides the setReturnPath method to set the "Return-Path" header, it's ok to use this header for this purpose? Thanks

However, if I send a mail to local user (without domain name): # mail <user> All mails are deliver to my server's mail spooler (/var/spool/mail). I wish all mails send to local user may relay to a public domain that I have registered, is that possible to do so with sendmail? mail user1 will send mail to [email protected] mail user2 will send mail to [email protected]

    Hi there, In my database I have a lot of users who've misspelled their e-mail address. This in turn causes my postfix to bounce a lot of mails when sending the newsletter. Forms include (but are not limited to) "yaho.com", "yahho .com" etc. Very annoying! So i have been trying to update those record to the correct value. After executing select email from users where email like '%@yaho%' and email not like '%yahoo%'; and getting the list, I'm stuck because I do not know how to update only the yaho part. I need the username to be left intact. So I thought I would just dump the database and use vim to replace, but I cannot escape the @ symbol.. BTW, how do I select all email addresses written in CAPS? select upper(email) from users; would just transform everything into CAPS, whereas I just needed to find out the already-written-in-CAPS mails.

  • Can I mark an Email as "High Importance" for Outlook using System.Net.Mail?

    Part of the application I'm working on for my client involves sending emails for events. Sometimes these are highly important. My client, and most of my client's clients, use Outlook, which has the ability to mark a mail message as High Importance. Now, I know it is callous to assume that all end users will be using the same interface, sp I am not. But considering you can send email from Outlook as High Importance even if the target is not necessarily reading through Outlook, that means that there is basically some data stored... somehow... that lets Outlook know if a particular message was assigned as High Importance. That's my interpretation, at least. The application currently uses System.Net.Mail to send out emails, using System.Net.Mail.MailMessages for writing them and System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient to send them. Is it possible to set this "High Importance" setting with System.Net.Mail's abilities? If not, is there any assembly available which can configure this setting?

  • How do you deal with duplicate street suffixes?

    I have a system where users need to enter addresses. I am trying to limit duplicates of course and something I started noticing was becoming a big problem was some users putting in "Road" and others "Rd", therefore duplicates were creeping in. I looked up the list of USPS street suffix abbreviations but I still have a question which I can't find an answer to. Can I replace all words in a street address with the USPS standard abbreviation? An example would be "123 Forest Hill Road". If I were to replace it with the abbreviations it would then be "123 Frst Hl Rd" or does the "street suffix" that USPS is referring to mean they only want you to make go as far as "123 Forest Hill Rd"?
