Hello, I have an online shop, now I got some products that I want to delete, however I am aware that some of them are indexed and/or marked as bookmarks for some people. Now I was wondering, what would be the best practice SEO-wise, to do a 301 redirect to the main page if anyone try to access those pages, or a 404 and display something like "Page not Found" ?   • Are all View Models supposed to be accessed through the Main View Model in MVVM?

    I am currently working on a WP8 application. My current design is to have each view bind against a specific view model directly. Looking through the samples though, it seems that another way is to have all the view models accessed through the Main View Model and then have all the views to their view models through the MVM. Is this the correct way to do it (So that it doesn't cause flexibility and other issues in the future)?

I luckily chose to create a backup windows iso before the install and now want to reinstall windows but i couldnt find a sufficient program to mount the iso to my cd disk. My question is how can i burn the disk using VirtualBox or even how can i transform a virtual box partion to my main OS system?? thx in advance

To speak for myself, I use Ubuntu and Kubuntu (it varies between those two Linux distributions), because it is easy to get stuff done with, has all the development tools I need, is fast, stable and safe. And I think I would never make it without the UNIX utilities anymore.

How do I backup my home folder for fresh installation of ubuntu?     Yesterday I read somewhere that NSTask isn't thread safe and that bothers me a lot, because I'm running a NSTask within a NSThread and is so far not experiencing any threading issues with it. My code is organized like this A: main thread -> B: worker thread -> C: worker task C: The worker task is a commandline program. B: The worker thread can start/stop the worker task and send it commands. A: The main thread can send commands to the worker thread. If NSTask is supposed to be used only within the main thread, then I'm considering moving the NSTask start/stop code to the main thread, just to prevent possible threading issues. Can NSTask be used outside the main thread? And if not then what may be the threading issues with NSTask?

With that said I want to nightly update the copy site with the updated files made to the main site from the prior day's updates to text files and new images. With that said, I need a physics engine, really to only do one thing: make a parabolic movement of my main character as he's jumping in the air. Currently, my computer version simply makes the guy move up at a 45 degree angle, and as soon as it hits the ceiling, down at a 45 degree angle. I need a physics engine/library that would accomplish that, it has to be in java since that's my best language, it has to be 2D, and it has to be able to work on Android.     I want to allow a client to have a flexible way to configure the navigation menu for his WordPress website. To that end, I have created a parent page called "Navigation", which has child pages for each page to be displayed in the navigation menu. Those pages then get 301 redirected to the actual page that should be served. This means the client can create pages freely, and then set up redirects for them as and when needed. This is a really easy way for him to manage his main menu and it works well. From an SEO point of view, is this okay? Will the pages be indexed fine?

    Just a question for the Lubuntu team really - I am a huge fan of Lubuntu - thank you and congratulations on creating a great distribution. I am just surprised to notice that, the main website doesn't mention that there are ARM versions - or provide any links to download. Is that because they are 'unofficial' in some sense ? I am running Lubuntu 11.10 on an Allwinner A10 device (the MK802) and it works a treat. Don't "hide your light" guys - tell the world Lubuntu is a cracking OS for ARM systems.

Then my concern is about seo friendliness. say the main domain of my account is maindomain.com on which I have added an addon domain say domain2.com. That means cpanel will generate domain2.maindomain.com and the contents of domain2.com will be practically stored into a subfolder in maindomain.com. Now, assume both maindomain.com and domain2.com have same structure both optimized for seo same way. My question is that would maindomain.com links be more seo friendly due to that fact that maindomain.com is the mani domain of my account?

    I was thinking that let's say if there is a game of Blackjack or MasterMind, then we should have a class called Dealer or ComputerPal, which is how the computer interact with us (as a dealer for Blackjack or as the person giving hints for MasterMind). And then there should be a Player object, and the way to play one game is aPlayer.playGame but I noticed that a book was just using the main() loop to act as the player (or as the Controller of the game), calling the Dealer methods to dealer the cards, ask for player's action, etc... 1) Is this just a lazy way to model all the proper objects? 2) If more objects are to be added, who should call the aDealer.dealCards and then ask for aPlayer.askForAction? (because it is strange to let the Player handle all the logical steps). Should there be a Table object that handle all these logic and then to play one round of game, use aTable.playGame? What is a good object design for such game?

    Linux OS (Ubuntu 12.10) starts up (user login, my personal picture of a beautiful Norwegian fjord-landscape fills the background), but the main menu on the left side, and the pictograms (battery state etc.) at the upper right corner of the screen, do not show up. This occurred yesterday quite suddenly after six or seven weeks working with Ubuntu 12.10. Then I started in recovery mode and performed a file system check (fsck) but that takes hours and finally a message ¨Sorry Ubuntu has experienced an internal error etc¨ appeared. How can I determine what has gone wrong and eventually, how can I solve it? So that I can work again using Ubuntu 12.10 (on a dual-boot system, Intel i7, ASUS P8P67 motherboard).

    Hello! I have a MDI main form. On it I host a form, and I want it to show a message box before it closes (asking the user whether to save changes). So far so good, however I have discovered that closing the MDI main form does not raise a MDI child FormClosing event. I figured I will just call MdiChild.Close() in the MDI main's FormClosing event (which does get raised). This seams to work, however it does causes a problem... In the messagebox that I show, I offer the user to save changes, not to save changes and cancel closing. Normally this works fine, however I can't seem to find a way to cancel MDI main's FormClosing event. Is there a elegant way of doing this? EDIT: I solved this by throwing an exception (when user decides to cancel the closing procedure) which is caught in MDI main's FormClosing event. In this way I know when I have to cancel the MDI main's FormClosing event and this seams to work fine ... However I just can't believe that this "hax" is the only way of doing this. Surely there is a better way?

    Context: I have a bash script (a wrapper for other scripts, really), that does the following pseudocode: do a main function if the main function returns: $returncode = $? #most recent return code if the main function runs longer than a timeout: kill the main function $returncode = 140 #the semi-canonical "exceeded allowed wall clock time" status run a cleanup function if the cleanup function returns an error: #nonzero return code exit $? #exit the program with the status returned from the cleanup function else #cleanup was successful .... Question: What should happen after the last line? If the cleanup function was successful, but the main function was not, should my program return 0 (for the successful cleanup), or $returncode, which contains the (possibly nonzero and unsuccessful) return code of the main function? For a specific application, the answer would be easy: "it depends on what you need the script for." However, this is more of a general/canonical question (and if this is the wrong place for it, kill it with fire): in Bash (or Linux in general) programming, do you typically want to return the status that "means" something (i.e. $returncode) or do you ignore such subjectivities and simply return the code of the most recent function? This isn't Bash-specific: if I have a standalone executable of any kind, how, canonically should it behave in these cases? Obviously, this is somewhat debatable. Even if there is a system for these things, I'm sure that a lot of people ignore it. All the same, I'd like to know. Cheers!
