• QLocalSocket and QLocalServer in browser plugins

  Hi, I have a simple doubt. Does the ipc mechanism in qt work when we use it for developing browser plugins? The reason i ask this is that I can easily get the QLocalSocket and QLocalServer communication to work in a qt application, but when i write a similar piece of code in a browser plugin dll i see that the server does not accept a new connection at all. This is what i do in the server: server = new QLocalServer(this); if( !server->listen("myServer")) { writeFile("Listen failed"); } connect(server, SIGNAL(newConnection()), this, SLOT(handleConn()),Qt::QueuedConnection); and this is what i do in the client: client = new QLocalSocket(this); client->abort(); QObject::connect(client,SIGNAL(connected()),this,SLOT(connClient()),Qt::QueuedConnection); client->connectToServer("myServer"); after i call connectToServer, my client emits the connected() signal and the connClient() slot is called. But, on the server side, there is no signal emitted. It doesn't seem to be receiving any connection at all. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

• Needed environment for building gstreamer plugins in Windows

  Hi, I've been strugling for two weeks to create an environment for building a gstreamer plugin on windows (needed for a songbird addon). I've installed MSYS, MinGW and Cygwin, then installed GStreamer OSSBuild, and I also downloaded the sources for Songbird, which come with their own precompiled version of gstreamer. I was unable to run gst-inspect (or any other gstreamer applications) from the songbird sources and I figured I will settle for OSSBuild. When following the instructions for building a GST plugin (found here) through, cygwin will not recognize the OSSBuild and the build fails when running autogen, with the following error: checking for GST... no configure: error: You need to install or upgrade the GStreamer development packages on your system. On debian-based systems these are libgstreamer0.10-dev and libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-dev. on RPM-based systems gstreamer0.10-devel, libgstreamer0.10-devel or similar. The minimum version required is 0.10.16. configure failed I could also not use MSYS or MinGW as they are unable to run autogen at all. I understand that cygwin should have it's own gstreamer development packages but I couldn't find how to install them. My question: How do I install the gstreamer packages in cygwin or how do I build using cygwin with the OSSBuild dependencies? In short, how do I get an environment where I can build a gstreamer plugin under windows?

• Installing a rails plugin from a Git repository

  I've been trying to install Shoulda script/plugin install git://github.com/thoughtbot/shoulda.git but all I get is: removing: C:/Documents and Settings/Danny/My Documents/Projects/Ruby On Rails/_ProjectName_/vendor/plugins/shoulda/.git > And the vender/plugins directory is empty. I have Rails 2.1.1 installed as a gem and have verified that 2.1.1 is loaded (using a puts inserted into config/boot.rb). Any ideas about what's going on? (this is on a windows box)

  Hi all I am trying to add two jquery plugins files to my application. When a user triggers my ajax event, the server will return text with a form button. The plugins (a jquery calendar) will work when the user clicks the form button inside the returned text . I believe I have to add the link inside the return text instead of the main page to let the code work, but not sure how to do this. I am giving out my code and need you experts opinions. Thanks.   I often get client emails containing 10 or more tasks written as text in the email. I know Outlook and Gmail let you turn an email into a single task, but this doesn't help too much when there are 10 tasks in that email. Are there any plugins for Outlook or Gmail that let put checkboxes into the email or something so I can check off each item as they are done? Ideally I'd like the checkboxes/to do items to be inside the email itself so I can see my progress by looking at the email, rather than just letting me copy text from the email into some other task list.

  I'm using Eclipse for several projects on Leopard OSX. I've installed several versions (Classic, PDT, etc). • How to adjust Aspect Ratio in Windows Media Center

  Is there any way of adjusting the aspect ratio of movies I view in Windows Media Center on Windows 7 RTM x64? Any hidden features? Any brilliant light weight plugins? Using Shark007 Codecs, and otherwise just default Media Center and Media Player. I know I could reprocess the videos, but that would probably ruin the already bad quality. I also know I could use VLC media player, but I really would like to find a solution that works in Media Center, since VLC media player isn't especially Remote Control and media collection friendly... Update: By the way, I know I can Ctrl+Drag an edge of the media center in window mode and change the aspect ratio of the player, but that doesn't do anything to the video.

  I'm trying to install the OMAP4 extras for ubuntu on my pandaboard. For some reason, a few packages can't seem to be agree with eachother. This what I did so far: installed on Ubuntu 11.10 on sd card Powered on Pandaboard and let it finish it's initial install Did an "apt-get update" and "apt-get upgrade", to install updates So far, everything went fine, and I was quite happy with my Pandaboard, but then I made the mistake of typing this: apt-get install ubuntu-imap4-extras At first, everything seemed ok, and it started downloading and installing. But then after a while it just crashed. I tried it again but then it gave me this: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information...   How to play .swf file in Google Chrome? Because when I open .swf files it says Missing Plug-in. though when I open chrome://plugins it shows that it has Shockwave Flash plugin installed already. • Winamp "Now Playing" POST to PHP script

  I have tried/researched 8 or so different plugins for Winamp that allow this functionality, and none of them seem to work on Windows 7 x64! I need a plugin for Winamp that will send the current playing track information to a PHP script, via GET or POST. I have almost no requirements... it can be the name/artist, or the filename (preferred). No fancy functionality needed, just something basic! • PDF files are opening in Firefox, undesiredly

  PDF files have suddenly started to open within the browser windows of Firefox 17. The PDF files are being displayed with the Adobe Acrobat plugin, which is odd, since I have explicitly disabled the Adobe Acrobat plugin in Firefox. I would like for Firefox to show the download prompt when opening a PDF file, instead. I have disabled the Adobe Acrobat plugin and I have made sure that PDF files are set to "Always Ask" in the Options dialog. For good measure, I've also tried disabling all plugins and extensions, and associating all file types to "Always Ask", but to no avail. So why is Firefox 17 suddenly ignoring these settings?

• C# Assembly.GetTypes() - ReflectionTypeLoadException

  We implement a plugin framework for our application and load plugin assemblies using Assembly.Loadfrom. We then use GetTypes() and further examine the types with each plugin file for supported Interfaces. A path for the plugins is provided by the user and we cycle through each of the files in the folder to see if it (the plugin) supports our plugin interface. If it does, we create an instance, if not we move onto the next file. We build two versions of software from the one code base (appA_1 and appA_2). Loading the plugins works well when the plugins are loaded by the application that was built at the same time as the plugin file. However if we build appA_2 and point to the plugin folder of appA_1, we get an exception when GetTypes() is called. A basic version of our code is; var pluginAssembly = Assembly.LoadFrom(FileName); foreach (var pluginType in pluginAssembly.GetTypes()) { We get a "ReflectionTypeLoadException" exception. This is concerning because we want our application to be able to load the types of any plugin, built by anyone. Is there something we are missing?

• Which is the best free ide/plugin for struts2?

  Hello friends, I have just learnt struts 2 and now I have taken up a full fledged project in it. I learnt the basics of struts 2 in Netbeans with it's struts2 plugin. But I am not at all happy with it, as it is very basic and I end up doing most of the work. It is obviously better than plain-vanilla text editor, but still not at all near to what netbeans provides for springs and hibernate. I know because netbeans provides native support for springs and hibernate, it is meant to be better. I don't mind changing my IDE if i get better support for struts2! So my questions are Please list all the free IDEs where native support for struts2 is provided. And if possible please compare them. Please list all the plugins that are available for eclipse for struts2 development. I have heard there are better plugins in eclipse. Also, if there are better plugins in any other IDE (other than netbeans or eclipse of course), please list them giving links. Please give me some tips which I'll need before starting a full blown project in Struts2. I haven't worked on any project on Struts2. • Unit Testing a rails 2.3.5 plugin

  I'm writing a new plugin for a rails 2.3.5 app. I've included an app directory (which makes it an engine) so i can easily load some extra routes. Not sure if that affects anything. Anyway, in the test directory i have two files: test_helper.rb and my_plugin_test.rb These files were generated automatically using script/generate plugin my_plugin When I go to vendor/plugins/my_plugin directory and run rake test they don't seem to run. I get the following console output: (in /Users/me/Repos/my_app/source/trunk/vendor/plugins/my_plugin) /Users/me/.rvm/rubies/jruby-1.4.0/bin/jruby -I"lib:lib:test" "/Users/me/.rvm/gems/jruby-1.4.0/gems/rake-0.8.7/lib/rake/rake_test_loader.rb" "test/my_plugin_test.rb" So it obviously sees my test file, but none of the tests inside get run, I just get back to my console prompt. What am I missing here? • Question about how to implement a c# host application with a plugin-like architecture

  I want to have an application that works as a Host to many other small applications. Each one of those applications should work as kind of plugin to this main application. I call them plugins not in the sense they add something to the main application, but because they can only work with this Host application as they depend on some of its services. My idea was to have each of those plugins run in a different app domain. The problem seems to be that my host application should have a set of services that my plugins will want to use and from what is my understanding making data flow in and out from different app domains is not that great of a thing. On one hand I'd like them to behave as stand-alone applications(although, as I said, they need to use lots of times the host application services), but on the other hand I'd like that if any of them crashes, my main application wouldn't suffer from it. What is the best (.NET) approach to this kind of situation? Make them all run on the same AppDomain but each one in a different Thread? Use different AppDomains? One for each "plugin"? How would I make them communicate with the Host Application? Any other way of doing this? Although speed is not an issue here, I wouldn't like for function calls to be that much slower than they are when we're working with just a regular .NET application. Thanks

  I have the following interface: public interface PluginInterface<T> where T : MyData { List<T> GetTableData(); } In a separate assembly, I have a class that implements this interface. In fact, all classes that implement this interface are in separate assemblies. The reason is to architect my app as a plugin host, where plugin can be done in the future as long as they implement the above interface and the assembly DLLs are copied to the appropriate folder. My app discovers the plugins by first loading the assembly and performs the following: List<PluginInterface<MyData>> Plugins = new List<PluginInterface<MyData>>(); string FileName = ...;//name of the DLL file that contains classes that implement the interface Assembly Asm = Assembly.LoadFile(Filename); foreach (Type AsmType in Asm.GetTypes()) { //Type type = AsmType.GetInterface("PluginInterface", true); // Type type = AsmType.GetInterface("PluginInterface<T>", true); if (type != null) { PluginInterface<MyData> Plugin = (PluginInterface<MyData>)Activator.CreateInstance(AsmType); Plugins.Add(Plugin); } } The trouble is because neither line where I am getting the type as by doing Type type = ... seems to work, as both seems to be null. I have the feeling that the generic somehow contributes to the trouble. Do you know why?

• How to "drag and drop" folders or multiple HTML files into a browser and have them open in multiple tabs

  I save pages that I browse on the net and find interesting into a folder called C:\PageSaves Later, during the commute, I open these pages to see what they are and move them into a neatly categorized folder tree. For example, Perl related pages goto C:\Pages\Perl, MySQL related pages goto C:\Pages\MySQL and so on. I was wondering if there is any way I could open any number of HTML files on disc / inside a folder (C:\PageSaves in my case) into Mozilla/FF/K-Meleon etc For example, I would like to just "drag and drop" the folder C:\PageSaves into FireFox and have it open all the .html pages in the folder in a separate tab Right now, if I "drag and drop" multiple HTML files, it just opens the last file in the selection. Have a set of toolbar buttons, basically, a (the) plugin that should allow me to nuke the page (if I don't want to keep the page anymore) from disc or move the file (and its corresponding folder) into a predefined / new folder I am familiar with coding full blown FireFox plugins, so even if something very basic/almost similar exists, I can take it forward. Hints/clues/other methods of achieving the same result are all welcome!

• Configuring Jenkins for running with BitBucket

  I'm trying to setup Jenkins on my mac mini in order to pull my iOS project source code from BitBucket and build it automatically. I've already gone through the major well know problems generating the ssh keys,uploading them in BitBucket,performing an ssh connection by console for adding the host to the well know list (you can find all my adventure here and here). Now,there are 3 user in my system: A,B and Shared. When I installed Jenkins it automatically placed itself in Shared, but I generated the ssh keys with the user A. The odd things is that if I try to run /usr/local/git/bin/git clone --progress -o origin [email protected]:myuser/myproject.git /Users/Shared/Jenkins/Home/jobs/myprojectAdHocBuild/workspace In my console, it works fine (after fixing a small problem relative the folder write permission with chmod) I found a post reporting a similar error which names a number of possible options but I'm not sure how to perform correctly these operations on my console.
