  • Segmentation fault in Qt Designer 4.6 with custom widget

    - by chedi
    Hi, I had a segmentation fault when using my new Qt Widget with Qt Designer 4.6. The problem arise when trying to preview the new widget. when using gdb I found that the problem is in qdesigner_internal::WidgetFactory::applyStyleToTopLevel: Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. qdesigner_internal::WidgetFactory::applyStyleToTopLevel (style=0x0, widget=0x1829df0) at /var/tmp/qt-x11-src-4.6.0/tools/designer/src/lib/shared/widgetfactory.cpp:777 777 /var/tmp/qt-x11-src-4.6.0/tools/designer/src/lib/shared/widgetfactory.cpp: No such file or directory. in /var/tmp/qt-x11-src-4.6.0/tools/designer/src/lib/shared/widgetfactory.cpp (gdb) bt #0 qdesigner_internal::WidgetFactory::applyStyleToTopLevel (style=0x0, widget=0x1829df0) at /var/tmp/qt-x11-src-4.6.0/tools/designer/src/lib/shared/widgetfactory.cpp:777 #1 0x00007ffff7475bed in qdesigner_internal::QDesignerFormBuilder::createPreview (fw=, styleName=..., appStyleSheet=..., deviceProfile=, scriptErrors= 0x7fffffffbee0, errorMessage=0x7fffffffc3f0) at /var/tmp/qt-x11-src-4.6.0/tools/designer/src/lib/shared/qdesigner_formbuilder.cpp:404 #2 0x00007ffff7476773 in qdesigner_internal::QDesignerFormBuilder::createPreview (fw=0x0, styleName=..., appStyleSheet=..., deviceProfile=..., errorMessage=0x0) at /var/tmp/qt-x11-src-4.6.0/tools/designer/src/lib/shared/qdesigner_formbuilder.cpp:439 #3 0x00007ffff7532b27 in qdesigner_internal::PreviewManager::createPreview (this=0x837f20, fw=0x1879200, pc=..., deviceProfileIndex=-1, errorMessage=0x7fffffffc3f0, initialZoom=-1) at /var/tmp/qt-x11-src-4.6.0/tools/designer/src/lib/shared/previewmanager.cpp:686 #4 0x00007ffff75343cf in qdesigner_internal::PreviewManager::showPreview (this=0x837f20, fw=0x1879200, pc=..., deviceProfileIndex=-1, errorMessage=0x7fffffffc3f0) at /var/tmp/qt-x11-src-4.6.0/tools/designer/src/lib/shared/previewmanager.cpp:760 #5 0x00007ffff753472f in qdesigner_internal::PreviewManager::showPreview (this=0x837f20, fw=0x1879200, style=..., deviceProfileIndex=-1, errorMessage=0x7fffffffc3f0) at /var/tmp/qt-x11-src-4.6.0/tools/designer/src/lib/shared/previewmanager.cpp:659 because a null pointer was passed there: void WidgetFactory::applyStyleToTopLevel(QStyle *style, QWidget *widget) { const QPalette standardPalette = style-standardPalette(); if (widget-style() == style && widget-palette() == standardPalette) return; //.... } I'm new in Qt and this is my first custom widget. does anybody have a clue for solving this. here is my widget code MBICInput::MBICInput(QWidget *parent) : QStackedWidget(parent){ displayPage = new QWidget(); displayPage-setObjectName(QString::fromUtf8("displayPage")); inputLB = new QLabel(displayPage); inputLB-setObjectName(QString::fromUtf8("inputLabel")); inputLB-setCursor(QCursor(Qt::PointingHandCursor)); addWidget(displayPage); EditPage = new QWidget(); EditPage-setProperty("EditInputLine", QVariant(true)); EditPage-setObjectName(QString::fromUtf8("EditPage")); inputInput = new QLineEdit(EditPage); inputInput-setGeometry(QRect(5, 10, 231, 25)); inputInput-setObjectName(QString::fromUtf8("input")); addWidget(EditPage); _animation = new QString(""); _message = new QString("Message"); _validator = new QRegExpValidator(QRegExp("[a-zA-Z]+"), this); } MBICInput::~MBICInput() { } QValidator::State MBICInput::validate(QString &text, int &pos) const{ return _validator-validate(text, pos); } void MBICInput::paintEvent(QPaintEvent *) { QPainter painter(this); painter.setRenderHint(QPainter::Antialiasing); } QSize MBICInput::minimumSizeHint() const{ return QSize(200, 40); } QSize MBICInput::sizeHint() const{ return QSize(200, 40); } void MBICInput::setAnimation(const QString &animation){ *_animation = animation; update(); } QString MBICInput::animation() const{ return *_animation; } void MBICInput::setMessage(const QString &message){ *_message = message; update(); } QString MBICInput::message() const{ return *_message; } void MBICInput::mousePressEvent(QMouseEvent *event){ if(currentIndex()==0){ setCurrentIndex(1); }else{ setCurrentIndex(0); } update(); }

  • Memory leak in Qt signal and slots

  • linker error in simple program: multiple definition of function

    - by BillyJean
    My function test is added to two different .cpp-files and the functions are private to their respective files as shown below test1.cpp #include <iostream> using namespace std; void test() { cout << "test" << endl; } test2.cpp #include <iostream> using namespace std; void test() { cout << "test" << endl; } main.cpp #include <iostream> using namespace std; int main() { return 0; } During linking I get the error multiple definition of test() - but how is that possible, considering that the two files have their own private scope!? I could understand it if I included the function prototype in each .cpp-files' corresponding header, but there is no such thing in this example.

  • How to determine whether a class has a particular templated member function?

    - by Aozine
    I was wondering if it's possible to extend the SFINAE approach to detecting whether a class has a certain member function (as discussed here: "Is there a Technique in C++ to know if a class has a member function of a given signature?" http://stackoverflow.com/questions/87372/is-there-a-technique-in-c-to-know-if-a-class-has-a-member-function-of-a-given-s ) to support templated member functions? E.g. to be able to detect the function foo in the following class: struct some_class { template < int _n > void foo() { } }; I thought it might be possible to do this for a particular instantiation of foo, (e.g. check to see if void foo< 5 >() is a member) as follows: template < typename _class, int _n > class foo_int_checker { template < typename _t, void (_t::*)() > struct sfinae { }; template < typename _t > static big test( sfinae< _t, &_t::foo< _n > > * ); template < typename _t > static small test( ... ); public: enum { value = sizeof( test< _class >( 0 ) ) == sizeof( big ) }; }; Then do foo_int_checker< some_class, 5 >::value to check whether some_class has the member void foo< 5 >(). However on MSVC++ 2008 this always returns false while g++ gives the following syntax errors at the line test( sfinae< _t, &_t::foo< _n > > ); test.cpp:24: error: missing `>' to terminate the template argument list test.cpp:24: error: template argument 2 is invalid test.cpp:24: error: expected unqualified-id before '<' token test.cpp:24: error: expected `,' or `...' before '<' token test.cpp:24: error: ISO C++ forbids declaration of `parameter' with no type Both seem to fail because I'm trying to get the address of a template function instantiation from a type that is itself a template parameter. Does anyone know whether this is possible or if it's disallowed by the standard for some reason? EDIT: It seems that I missed out the ::template syntax to get g++ to compile the above code correctly. If I change the bit where I get the address of the function to &_t::template foo< _n > then the program compiles, but I get the same behaviour as MSVC++ (value is always set to false). If I comment out the ... overload of test to force the compiler to pick the other one, I get the following compiler error in g++: test.cpp: In instantiation of `foo_int_checker<A, 5>': test.cpp:40: instantiated from here test.cpp:32: error: invalid use of undefined type `class foo_int_checker<A, 5>' test.cpp:17: error: declaration of `class foo_int_checker<A, 5>' test.cpp:32: error: enumerator value for `value' not integer constant where line 32 is the enum { value = sizeof( test< _class >( 0 ) ) == sizeof( big ) }; line. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to help me diagnose the problem :(. MSVC++ gives a similar nondescript error: error C2770: invalid explicit template argument(s) for 'clarity::meta::big checker<_checked_type>::test(checker<_checked_type>::sfinae<_t,&_t::template foo<5>> *)' on the same line. What's strange is that if I get the address from a specific class and not a template parameter (i.e. rather than &_t::template foo< _n > I do &some_class::template foo< _n >) then I get the correct result, but then my checker class is limited to checking a single class (some_class) for the function. Also, if I do the following: template < typename _t, void (_t::*_f)() > void f0() { } template < typename _t > void f1() { f0< _t, &_t::template foo< 5 > >(); } and call f1< some_class >() then I DON'T get a compile error on &_t::template foo< 5 >. This suggests that the problem only arises when getting the address of a templated member function from a type that is itself a template parameter while in a SFINAE context. Argh!

  • Problem with GCC calling static templates functions in templated parent class.

    - by Adisak
    I have some code that compiles and runs on MSVC++ but will not compile on GCC. I have made a test snippet that follows. My goal was to move the static method from BFSMask to BFSMaskSized. Can someone explain what is going on with the errors (esp. the weird 'operator<' error)? Thank you. In the case of both #defines are 0, then the code compiles on GCC. #define DOESNT_COMPILE_WITH_GCC 0 #define FUNCTION_IN_PARENT 0 I get errors if I change either #define to 1. • Automatic initialization routine in C++ library?

    - by Robert Mason
    If i have a header file foo.h and a source file foo.cpp, and foo.cpp contains something along the lines of: #ifdef WIN32 class asdf { asdf() { startup_code(); } ~asdf() { cleanup_code(); } }; asdf __STARTUP_HANDLE__ #else //unix does not require startup or cleanup code in this case #endif but foo.h does not define class asdf, say i have an application bar.cpp: #include "foo.h" //link in foo.lib, foo.dll, foo.so, etc int main() { //do stuff return 0; } If bar.cpp is compiled on a WIN32 platform, will the asdf() and ~asdf() be called at the appropriate times (before main() and at program exit, respectively) even though class asdf is not defined in foo.h, but is linked in through foo.cpp?

  • Function declaration in C and C++

    - by Happy Mittal
    I have two C++ files, say file1.cpp and file2.cpp as //file1.cpp #include<cstdio> void fun(int i) { printf("%d\n",i); } //file2.cpp void fun(double); int main() { fun(5); } When I compile them and link them as c++ files, I get an error "undefined reference to fun(double)". But when I do this as C files, I don't get error and 0 is printed instead of 5. Please explain the reason. Moreover I want to ask whether we need to declare a function before defining it because I haven't declared it in file1.cpp but no error comes in compilation.

  • How to link Delphi with C++?

    - by CyberShadow
    cpp.cpp extern "C" char* GetText() { return "Hello, world!"; } delphi.dpr {$APPTYPE CONSOLE} {$LINK 'cpp.obj'} function _GetText: PChar; cdecl; external; begin WriteLn(_GetText); end. I can't get this to work, no matter what I try. I tried various calling conventions, playing with underscores. even creating a .c wrapper for the .cpp code (but then the .c wrapper doesn't "see" any .cpp symbols). I'm about to give up and use DLLs. Any suggestions?

  • Newbie: How to set attribute of the relative layout in my case??

    - by Leem
    I would like to divide my screen into 4 equal areas like ?.Each one of the four area is a linear layout. I tried to use relative layout to hold four linear layout like below: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/up_left_area" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:background="#ffff66" > <TextView android:id="@+id/label1" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:text="UP LEFT"/> </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/up_right_area" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_toRightOf="@id/up_left_area" android:background="#ccffff"> <TextView android:id="@+id/label2" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:text="UP RIGHT"/> </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/down_left_area" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_below="@id/up_left_area" android:background="#66cc33" > <TextView android:id="@+id/label3" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:text="DOWN LEFT"/> </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/down_right_area" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_below="@id/up_right_area" android:layout_toRightOf="@id/down_left_area" android:background="#cc6600"> <TextView android:id="@+id/label4" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:text="DOWN RIGHT"/> </LinearLayout> </RelativeLayout> With the above xml layout code, I do get 4 areas on the screen, but they are not equal sized. How to modify my code to have equal sized 4 areas on the screen like ? ?

  • newbie question -- how does one override show for a newtype?

    - by gatoatigrado
    I want to override the default integer constructors in Haskell so they produce strings (mostly for curiosity, but temporarily to make a nice input alternative for LaTeX's \frac{}{} inconvenience). I wanted to be able to use the language itself, instead of a special parser, but I guess that's probably not going to work out... module Main where import Prelude hiding ((+)) newtype A = A Int deriving (Eq, Show, Num) default (A) (+) :: A -> (A -> String) (A a) + (A b) = (show a) ++ " + " ++ (show b) main2 = 3+4 main :: IO () main = putStrLn main2 The problem with the above is that the + function only works for (A, A) instead of (A, String), etc. If one simply leaves out the pattern match "(A a)" and writes "a" instead, then the show() function prepends "A " so "3" becomes "A 3" instead of just "3". I want to override Show for A, but it seems to be quite a headache...

  • Microsoft Robotics Studio, simple simulation ! MSRS Newbie ! ....

    - by Arkapravo
    I am soon to start with Microsoft Robotics Studio. My question is to all the gurus of MSRS, Can simple simulation (as obstacle avoidance and wall following) be done without any hardware ? Does MSRS have 3-dimensional as well as 2-dimensional rendering? As of now I do not have any hardware and I am only interested in simulation, when I have the robot hardware I may try to interface it! Sorry for a silly question, I am a MSRS noob, but have previous robotics h/w and s/w experience.

  • makefile pathing issues on OSX

    - by Justin808
    OK, I thought I would try one last update and see if it gets me anywhere. I've created a very small test case. This should not build anything, it just tests the path settings. Also I've setup the path so there are no spaces. The is the smallest, simplest test case I could come up with. This makefile will set the path, echo the path, run avr-gcc -v with the full path specified and then try to run it without the full path specified. It should find avr-gcc in the path on the second try, but does not. makefile TOOLCHAIN := /Users/justinzaun/Desktop/AVRBuilder.app/Contents/Resources/avrchain PATH := ${TOOLCHAIN}/bin:${PATH} export PATH all: @echo ${PATH} @echo -------- "${TOOLCHAIN}/bin/avr-gcc" -v @echo -------- avr-gcc -v output JUSTINs-MacBook-Air:Untitled justinzaun$ make /Users/justinzaun/Desktop/AVRBuilder.app/Contents/Resources/avrchain/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/X11/bin -------- "/Users/justinzaun/Desktop/AVRBuilder.app/Contents/Resources/avrchain/bin/avr-gcc" -v Using built-in specs. • Newbie question: How do you layout an icon, 2 text lines and a button?

    - by Keith Barrows
    I am trying to extend a sample I found at http://developer.android.com/resources/articles/layout-tricks-efficiency.html. I am a brand new MonoDroid developer, just installed it yesterday, and trying to jump right into UI design and so far it is not clicking for me completely. I have this main.xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="?android:attr/listPreferredItemHeight" android:padding="6dip"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/icon" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" android:layout_marginRight="6dip" android:src="@drawable/icon" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/secondLine" android:layout_width="200dip" android:layout_height="26dip" android:layout_toRightOf="@id/icon" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" android:layout_alignParentRight="true" android:singleLine="true" android:ellipsize="marquee" android:text="Second line which is a long line of text and needs to scroll" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/firstLine" android:layout_width="200dip" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_toRightOf="@id/icon" android:layout_alignParentRight="true" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:layout_above="@id/secondLine" android:layout_alignWithParentIfMissing="true" android:singleLine="true" android:ellipsize="marquee" android:gravity="center_vertical" android:text="First line" /> <Button android:id="@+id/logonButton" android:layout_width="50dip" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_toRightOf="@id/secondLine" android:layout_alignParentRight="true" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:gravity="center_vertical" android:text="Login" /> /> </RelativeLayout> What I am trying to do is have an icon on the left, 2 lines of text stacked in the middle and a button on the right. When I run this in my emulator I am seeing: The second line is not scrolling. The button does not show up. Is there by any chance a simple WYSIWYG editor for layout? Or is there an app to give me a quick view of my layout XML? Something like FireBug in FireFox would be fine. Barring the slim chance there are UI helpers for Droid, what am I doing wrong? :)

  • Newbie T-SQL dynamic stored procedure -- how can I improve it?

    - by Andy Jones
    I'm new to T-SQL; all my experience is in a completely different database environment (Openedge). I've learned enough to write the procedure below -- but also enough to know that I don't know enough! This routine will have to go into a live environment soon, and it works, but I'm quite certain there are a number of c**k-ups and gotchas in it that I know nothing about. The routine copies data from table A to table B, replacing the data in table B. The tables could be in any database. I plan to call this routine multiple times from another stored procedure. Permissions aren't a problem: the routine will be run by the dba as a timed job. Could I have your suggestions as to how to make it fit best-practice? To bullet-proof it? ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[copyTable2Table] @sdb varchar(30), @stable varchar(30), @tdb varchar(30), @ttable varchar(30), @raiseerror bit = 1, @debug bit = 0 as begin set nocount on declare @source varchar(65) declare @target varchar(65) declare @dropstmt varchar(100) declare @insstmt varchar(100) declare @ErrMsg nvarchar(4000) declare @ErrSeverity int set @source = '[' + @sdb + '].[dbo].[' + @stable + ']' set @target = '[' + @tdb + '].[dbo].[' + @ttable + ']' set @dropStmt = 'drop table ' + @target set @insStmt = 'select * into ' + @target + ' from ' + @source set @errMsg = '' set @errSeverity = 0 if @debug = 1 print('Drop:' + @dropStmt + ' Insert:' + @insStmt) -- drop the target table, copy the source table to the target begin try begin transaction exec(@dropStmt) exec(@insStmt) commit end try begin catch if @@trancount > 0 rollback select @errMsg = error_message(), @errSeverity = error_severity() end catch -- update the log table insert into HHG_system.dbo.copyaudit (copytime, copyuser, source, target, errmsg, errseverity) values( getdate(), user_name(user_id()), @source, @target, @errMsg, @errSeverity) if @debug = 1 print ( 'Message:' + @errMsg + ' Severity:' + convert(Char, @errSeverity) ) -- handle errors, return value if @errMsg <> '' begin if @raiseError = 1 raiserror(@errMsg, @errSeverity, 1) return 1 end return 0 END Thanks!

  • How to make Date locale-independent? (GMT timezone newbie question)

    - by folone
    I have a db, that stores dates in OleDateTime format, in GMT timezone. I've implemented a class, extending Date in java to represent that in classic date format. But my class is locale-dependent (I'm in GMT+2). Therefore, it converts the date in the db as date - 2 hours. How do I make it convert the date correctly? I want my class to be locale-independent, always using GMT timezone. Actually, the question is: class MyOleDateTime extends Date { static { Locale.setDefault(WhatGoesHere?) } // ... some constructors // ... some methods }

  • Programming graphics and sound on PC - Total newbie questions, and lots of them!

    - by Russel
    Hello, This isn't exactly specifically a programming question (or is it?) but I was wondering: How are graphics and sound processed from code and output by the PC? My guess for graphics: There is some reserved memory space somewhere that holds exactly enough room for a frame of graphics output for your monitor. IE: 800 x 600, 24 bit color mode == 800x600x3 = ~1.4MB memory space Between each refresh, the program writes video data to this space. This action is completed before the monitor refresh. Assume a simple 2D game: the graphics data is stored in machine code as many bytes representing color values. Depending on what the program(s) being run instruct the PC, the processor reads the appropriate data and writes it to the memory space. When it is time for the monitor to refresh, it reads from each memory space byte-for-byte and activates hardware depending on those values for each color element of each pixel. All of this of course happens crazy-fast, and repeats x times a second, x being the monitor's refresh rate. I've simplified my own likely-incorrect explanation by avoiding talk of double buffering, etc Here are my questions: a) How close is the above guess (the three steps)? b) How could one incorporate graphics in pure C++ code? I assume the practical thing that everyone does is use a graphics library (SDL, OpenGL, etc), but, for example, how do these libraries accomplish what they do? Would manual inclusion of graphics in pure C++ code (say, a 2D spite) involve creating a two-dimensional array of bit values (or three dimensional to include multiple RGB values per pixel)? Is this how it would be done waaay back in the day? c) Also, continuing from above, do libraries such as SDL etc that use bitmaps actual just build the bitmap/etc files into machine code of the executable and use them as though they were build in the same matter mentioned in question b above? d) In my hypothetical step 3 above, is there any registers involved? Like, could you write some byte value to some register to output a single color of one byte on the screen? Or is it purely dedicated memory space (=RAM) + hardware interaction? e) Finally, how is all of this done for sound? (I have no idea :) )

  • Odd behavior when recursively building a return type for variadic functions

    - by Dennis Zickefoose
    This is probably going to be a really simple explanation, but I'm going to give as much backstory as possible in case I'm wrong. Advanced apologies for being so verbose. I'm using gcc4.5, and I realize the c++0x support is still somewhat experimental, but I'm going to act on the assumption that there's a non-bug related reason for the behavior I'm seeing. I'm experimenting with variadic function templates. The end goal was to build a cons-list out of std::pair. It wasn't meant to be a custom type, just a string of pair objects. The function that constructs the list would have to be in some way recursive, with the ultimate return value being dependent on the result of the recursive calls. As an added twist, successive parameters are added together before being inserted into the list. So if I pass [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6] the end result should be {1+2, {3+4, 5+6}}. My initial attempt was fairly naive. A function, Build, with two overloads. One took two identical parameters and simply returned their sum. The other took two parameters and a parameter pack. The return value was a pair consisting of the sum of the two set parameters, and the recursive call. In retrospect, this was obviously a flawed strategy, because the function isn't declared when I try to figure out its return type, so it has no choice but to resolve to the non-recursive version. That I understand. Where I got confused was the second iteration. I decided to make those functions static members of a template class. The function calls themselves are not parameterized, but instead the entire class is. My assumption was that when the recursive function attempts to generate its return type, it would instantiate a whole new version of the structure with its own static function, and everything would work itself out. The result was: "error: no matching function for call to BuildStruct<double, double, char, char>::Go(const char&, const char&)" The offending code: static auto Go(const Type& t0, const Type& t1, const Types&... rest) -> std::pair<Type, decltype(BuildStruct<Types...>::Go(rest...))> My confusion comes from the fact that the parameters to BuildStruct should always be the same types as the arguments sent to BuildStruct::Go, but in the error code Go is missing the initial two double parameters. What am I missing here? If my initial assumption about how the static functions would be chosen was incorrect, why is it trying to call the wrong function rather than just not finding a function at all? It seems to just be mixing types willy-nilly, and I just can't come up with an explanation as to why. If I add additional parameters to the initial call, it always burrows down to that last step before failing, so presumably the recursion itself is at least partially working. This is in direct contrast to the initial attempt, which always failed to find a function call right away. Ultimately, I've gotten past the problem, with a fairly elegant solution that hardly resembles either of the first two attempts. So I know how to do what I want to do. I'm looking for an explanation for the failure I saw. Full code to follow since I'm sure my verbal description was insufficient. First some boilerplate, if you feel compelled to execute the code and see it for yourself. Then the initial attempt, which failed reasonably, then the second attempt, which did not. #include <iostream> using std::cout; using std::endl; #include <utility> template<typename T1, typename T2> std::ostream& operator <<(std::ostream& str, const std::pair<T1, T2>& p) { return str << "[" << p.first << ", " << p.second << "]"; } //Insert code here int main() { Execute(5, 6, 4.3, 2.2, 'c', 'd'); Execute(5, 6, 4.3, 2.2); Execute(5, 6); return 0; } Non-struct solution: template<typename Type> Type BuildFunction(const Type& t0, const Type& t1) { return t0 + t1; } template<typename Type, typename... • Python Newbie: Sphinx on App Engine - too much at a time?

    - by Pekka
    Following up on my last year's question on documentation, I now want to get started and try out Python-based Sphinx for putting together the developer documentation for a PHP CMS I've been working on. Instead of setting up Python locally on my workstation, I would like to run it on a publicly accessible web server from the start. All the web hosting packages I have access to run on the LAMP stack, and I'm reluctant to buy Python-based hosting. I am very interested in the Google App Engine, the free quotas they provide will do for me a hundred times over, and even if not, their pricing looks very reasonable. Now I have zero knowledge of Python - getting Sphinx to work would be my first contact with it - and very little time. As far as I understand, the platform and python libraries the App Engine provides are very compatible to a standard Python library but not identical. So my question is: Can Sphinx run on App Engine at all? Is installing Sphinx on the App Engine as straightforward as if I would install it on top of a normal Python installation? Or will the App Engine's environment require tweaking of the source code that I can't perform in reasonable time with my current level of Python? Should I be installing Sphinx on a local server and a "normal" Python stack instead first? Does anybody know any helpful How-to's, tutorials or other resources for this?

  • elisp newbie question: Can't find 'filename' function definition in org.el?

    - by Dave Paroulek
    I really love org-mode in emacs and want to customize a few things. While reading thru org.el, I'm finding several references to filename but can't find filename using describe-function? I'm sure there's a simple answer, but I'm just learning elisp and it's not obvious. Any insight into where filename is defined? And/or if it's not a function, what is it? For example, filename on line 25502: (filename (if to-buffer (expand-file-name (concat (file-name-sans-extension (or (and subtree-p (org-entry-get (region-beginning) "EXPORT_FILE_NAME" t)) (file-name-nondirectory buffer-file-name))) "." html-extension) (file-name-as-directory (or pub-dir (org-export-directory :html opt-plist))))))

  • What should a conference newbie bring to make the most out of their first conference?

    - by skarnis
    I am planning to attend my first developer conference (Microsoft TechDays 2008 in Toronto). I have been looking around for suggestions so that I can prepare and make the most out of my first developer conference. Many articles make suggestions about asking questions, getting involved, being social. These are great! I am also wondering about physical items. I have seen many conference photos with most of the audience having their laptops. Are they just taking notes? Are they working on a problem during the session? Are these photos just during a break and everyone is catching up on blogs/email/outside contact? Thank you StackOverflow-ers (StackOverflow-ites?)

  • ASP.NET MVC Newbie: why isn't my model available when creating a strongly-typed view?

    - by Rax Olgud
    I'm starting with ASP.NET MVC, and working with NerdDinner as reference. I did the following: Created a new project Added a couple of tables Created LINQ to SQL for them Created a new controller My Models directory now contains MyModel.dbml, under which I have MyModel.designer.cs, that contains classes for models relating to both of my tables (let's call them Categories and Products). Now, under my new controller, I would like to create a strongly typed view. So for example I have the following code in my controller (for my application I must work by name, and the "Name" field is unique): public ActionResult Details(string name) { MyModelDataContext db = new MyModelDataContext(); Product user = db.Products.Single(t => t.Name == name); return View(user); } I would like to create a strongly-typed view. So I right-click the line "return View(user)", and choose "Add View...". I click "Create a strongly-typed view". When I click the dropdown of "View data class", I don't see my models, but only: MyProject.Controllers.AccountMembershipService MyProject.Controllers.FormsAuthenticationService What am I missing?
