  • Where might a newbie programmer begin with game development? [closed]

    - by Ginnjii
    I just started picking up programming and I'd love to learn the ins and outs of game development so if anyone could tell me where to begin I'd really appreciate it alot. I'm interested in flash games in particular for now. I have googled it up and such but I'm honestly lost what with so much related to the subject so a pointer in the right direction would be immensely helpful. As such any site or resource for the subject would be great.

  • Linker error when compiling boost.asio example

    - by Alon
    Hi, I'm trying to learn a little bit C++ and Boost.Asio. I'm trying to compile the following code example: #include <iostream> #include <boost/array.hpp> #include <boost/asio.hpp> using boost::asio::ip::tcp; int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { try { if (argc != 2) { std::cerr << "Usage: client <host>" << std::endl; return 1; } boost::asio::io_service io_service; tcp::resolver resolver(io_service); tcp::resolver::query query(argv[1], "daytime"); tcp::resolver::iterator endpoint_iterator = resolver.resolve(query); tcp::resolver::iterator end; tcp::socket socket(io_service); boost::system::error_code error = boost::asio::error::host_not_found; while (error && endpoint_iterator != end) { socket.close(); socket.connect(*endpoint_iterator++, error); } if (error) throw boost::system::system_error(error); for (;;) { boost::array<char, 128> buf; boost::system::error_code error; size_t len = socket.read_some(boost::asio::buffer(buf), error); if (error == boost::asio::error::eof) break; // Connection closed cleanly by peer. else if (error) throw boost::system::system_error(error); // Some other error. std::cout.write(buf.data(), len); } } catch (std::exception& e) { std::cerr << e.what() << std::endl; } return 0; } With the following command line: g++ -I /usr/local/boost_1_42_0 a.cpp and it throws an unclear error: /tmp/ccCv9ZJA.o: In function `__static_initialization_and_destruction_0(int, int)': a.cpp:(.text+0x654): undefined reference to `boost::system::get_system_category()' a.cpp:(.text+0x65e): undefined reference to `boost::system::get_generic_category()' a.cpp:(.text+0x668): undefined reference to `boost::system::get_generic_category()' a.cpp:(.text+0x672): undefined reference to `boost::system::get_generic_category()' a.cpp:(.text+0x67c): undefined reference to `boost::system::get_system_category()' /tmp/ccCv9ZJA.o: In function `boost::system::error_code::error_code()': a.cpp:(.text._ZN5boost6system10error_codeC2Ev[_ZN5boost6system10error_codeC5Ev]+0x10): undefined reference to `boost::system::get_system_category()' /tmp/ccCv9ZJA.o: In function `boost::asio::error::get_system_category()': a.cpp:(.text._ZN5boost4asio5error19get_system_categoryEv[boost::asio::error::get_system_category()]+0x7): undefined reference to `boost::system::get_system_category()' /tmp/ccCv9ZJA.o: In function `boost::asio::detail::posix_thread::~posix_thread()': a.cpp:(.text._ZN5boost4asio6detail12posix_threadD2Ev[_ZN5boost4asio6detail12posix_threadD5Ev]+0x1d): undefined reference to `pthread_detach' /tmp/ccCv9ZJA.o: In function `boost::asio::detail::posix_thread::join()': a.cpp:(.text._ZN5boost4asio6detail12posix_thread4joinEv[boost::asio::detail::posix_thread::join()]+0x25): undefined reference to `pthread_join' /tmp/ccCv9ZJA.o: In function `boost::asio::detail::posix_tss_ptr<boost::asio::detail::call_stack<boost::asio::detail::task_io_service<boost::asio::detail::epoll_reactor<false> > >::context>::~posix_tss_ptr()': a.cpp:(.text._ZN5boost4asio6detail13posix_tss_ptrINS1_10call_stackINS1_15task_io_serviceINS1_13epoll_reactorILb0EEEEEE7contextEED2Ev[_ZN5boost4asio6detail13posix_tss_ptrINS1_10call_stackINS1_15task_io_serviceINS1_13epoll_reactorILb0EEEEEE7contextEED5Ev]+0xf): undefined reference to `pthread_key_delete' /tmp/ccCv9ZJA.o: In function `boost::asio::detail::posix_tss_ptr<boost::asio::detail::call_stack<boost::asio::detail::task_io_service<boost::asio::detail::epoll_reactor<false> > >::context>::posix_tss_ptr()': a.cpp:(.text._ZN5boost4asio6detail13posix_tss_ptrINS1_10call_stackINS1_15task_io_serviceINS1_13epoll_reactorILb0EEEEEE7contextEEC2Ev[_ZN5boost4asio6detail13posix_tss_ptrINS1_10call_stackINS1_15task_io_serviceINS1_13epoll_reactorILb0EEEEEE7contextEEC5Ev]+0x22): undefined reference to `pthread_key_create' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status How can I fix it?   • error LNK2019 for ZLib sample compare.

    - by Nano HE
    Hello. I created win32 console application in vs2010 (without select the option of precompiled header). And I inserted the code below. but *.obj link failed. Could you provide me more information about the error. I searched MSDN, but still can't understand it. #include <stdio.h> #include "zlib.h" // Demonstration of zlib utility functions unsigned long file_size(char *filename) { FILE *pFile = fopen(filename, "rb"); fseek (pFile, 0, SEEK_END); unsigned long size = ftell(pFile); fclose (pFile); return size; } int decompress_one_file(char *infilename, char *outfilename) { gzFile infile = gzopen(infilename, "rb"); FILE *outfile = fopen(outfilename, "wb"); if (!infile || !outfile) return -1; char buffer[128]; int num_read = 0; while ((num_read = gzread(infile, buffer, sizeof(buffer))) > 0) { fwrite(buffer, 1, num_read, outfile); } gzclose(infile); fclose(outfile); } int compress_one_file(char *infilename, char *outfilename) { FILE *infile = fopen(infilename, "rb"); gzFile outfile = gzopen(outfilename, "wb"); if (!infile || !outfile) return -1; char inbuffer[128]; int num_read = 0; unsigned long total_read = 0, total_wrote = 0; while ((num_read = fread(inbuffer, 1, sizeof(inbuffer), infile)) > 0) { total_read += num_read; gzwrite(outfile, inbuffer, num_read); } fclose(infile); gzclose(outfile); printf("Read %ld bytes, Wrote %ld bytes, Compression factor %4.2f%%\n", total_read, file_size(outfilename), (1.0-file_size(outfilename)*1.0/total_read)*100.0); } int main(int argc, char **argv) { compress_one_file(argv[1],argv[2]); decompress_one_file(argv[2],argv[3]);} Output: 1>------ Build started: Project: zlibApp, Configuration: Debug Win32 ------ 1> zlibApp.cpp 1>d:\learning\cpp\cppvs2010\zlibapp\zlibapp\zlibapp.cpp(15): warning C4996: 'fopen': This function or variable may be unsafe.   • Compiler issues on VC++ 2008 Express, Seemingly correct code throws errors.

    - by Anthony Clever
    Hi there, I've been trying to get back into coding for a while, so I figured I'd start with some simple SDL, now, without the file i/o, this compiles fine, but when I throw in the stdio code, it starts throwing errors. This I'm not sure about, I don't see any problem with the code itself, however, like I said, I might as well be a newbie, and figured I'd come here to get someone with a little more experience with this type of thing to look at it. I guess my question boils down to: "Why doesn't this compile under Microsoft's Visual C++ 2008 Express?" I've attached the error log at the bottom of the code snippet. Thanks in advance for any help. #include "SDL/SDL.h" #include "stdio.h" int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { FILE *stderr; FILE *stdout; stderr = fopen("stderr", "wb"); stdout = fopen("stdout", "wb"); SDL_Init(SDL_INIT_EVERYTHING); fprintf(stdout, "SDL INITIALIZED SUCCESSFULLY\n"); SDL_Quit(); fprintf(stderr, "SDL QUIT.\n"); fclose(stderr); fclose(stdout); return 0; } /* 1>------ Build started: Project: opengl_crap, Configuration: Debug Win32 ------ 1>Compiling... 1>main.cpp 1>c:\documents and settings\owner\my documents\visual studio 2008\projects\opengl_crap\opengl_crap\main.cpp(6) : error C2090: function returns array 1>c:\documents and settings\owner\my documents\visual studio 2008\projects\opengl_crap\opengl_crap\main.cpp(6) : error C2528: '__iob_func' : pointer to reference is illegal 1>c:\documents and settings\owner\my documents\visual studio 2008\projects\opengl_crap\opengl_crap\main.cpp(6) : error C2556: 'FILE ***__iob_func(void)' : overloaded function differs only by return type from 'FILE *__iob_func(void)' 1> c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 9.0\vc\include\stdio.h(132) : see declaration of '__iob_func' 1>c:\documents and settings\owner\my documents\visual studio 2008\projects\opengl_crap\opengl_crap\main.cpp(7) : error C2090: function returns array 1>c:\documents and settings\owner\my documents\visual studio 2008\projects\opengl_crap\opengl_crap\main.cpp(7) : error C2528: '__iob_func' : pointer to reference is illegal 1>c:\documents and settings\owner\my documents\visual studio 2008\projects\opengl_crap\opengl_crap\main.cpp(9) : error C2440: '=' : cannot convert from 'FILE *' to 'FILE ***' 1> Types pointed to are unrelated; conversion requires reinterpret_cast, C-style cast or function-style cast 1>c:\documents and settings\owner\my documents\visual studio 2008\projects\opengl_crap\opengl_crap\main.cpp(10) : error C2440: '=' : cannot convert from 'FILE *' to 'FILE ***' 1> Types pointed to are unrelated; conversion requires reinterpret_cast, C-style cast or function-style cast 1>c:\documents and settings\owner\my documents\visual studio 2008\projects\opengl_crap\opengl_crap\main.cpp(13) : error C2664: 'fprintf' : cannot convert parameter 1 from 'FILE ***' to 'FILE *' 1> Types pointed to are unrelated; conversion requires reinterpret_cast, C-style cast or function-style cast 1>c:\documents and settings\owner\my documents\visual studio 2008\projects\opengl_crap\opengl_crap\main.cpp(15) : error C2664: 'fprintf' : cannot convert parameter 1 from 'FILE ***' to 'FILE *' 1> Types pointed to are unrelated; conversion requires reinterpret_cast, C-style cast or function-style cast 1>c:\documents and settings\owner\my documents\visual studio 2008\projects\opengl_crap\opengl_crap\main.cpp(17) : error C2664: 'fclose' : cannot convert parameter 1 from 'FILE ***' to 'FILE *' 1> Types pointed to are unrelated; conversion requires reinterpret_cast, C-style cast or function-style cast 1>c:\documents and settings\owner\my documents\visual studio 2008\projects\opengl_crap\opengl_crap\main.cpp(18) : error C2664: 'fclose' : cannot convert parameter 1 from 'FILE ***' to 'FILE *' 1> Types pointed to are unrelated; conversion requires reinterpret_cast, C-style cast or function-style cast 1>Build log was saved at "file://c:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\opengl_crap\opengl_crap\Debug\BuildLog.htm" 1>opengl_crap - 11 error(s), 0 warning(s) ========== Build: 0 succeeded, 1 failed, 0 up-to-date, 0 skipped ========== */

  • Issue porting Cocos2d-x to Android

    I've written a basic game using Cocos2D-x on XCode. It works fine on the iPhone. Now I'm trying to port it to Android. When I run the script ./build_native.sh inside the proj.android folder, it gives me the following error: jni/../../Classes/MemoryModeLayer.cpp: In member function 'void MemoryModeLayer::startNewGame()': jni/../../Classes/MemoryModeLayer.cpp:109:25: error: 'time' is not a member of 'std' jni/../../Classes/MemoryModeLayer.cpp:109:25: note: suggested alternative: /Users/abc/android-ndk-r9d/platforms/android-8/arch-arm/usr/include/time.h:40:17: note: 'time' jni/../../Classes/MemoryModeLayer.cpp:111:5: error: 'random_shuffle' is not a member of 'std' jni/../../Classes/MemoryModeLayer.cpp:112:5: error: 'random_shuffle' is not a member of 'std' make: *** [obj/local/armeabi/objs/cocos2dcpp_shared/__/__/Classes/MemoryModeLayer.o] Error 1 make: Leaving directory `/Users/abc/cocos2d-x-2.2.3/projects/Game/proj.android' In MemoryModeLayer.cpp I have the following: std::srand(unsigned(std::time(0))); std::random_shuffle(_xCod, _xCod + _numberOfRows); std::random_shuffle(_yCod, _yCod + _numberOfColumns); I've included the following headers as well: #include <string> #include <ctime> #include <algorithm> #include <iostream> #include <iomanip> Also added using namespace std in the header file. Is there anything else that I should do?

  • Visual studio: automatically update C++ cpp/header file when the other is changed?

    - by Jon
    For example, if I change the signature in a function in either the header or the cpp, I'd like it to automatically change in the other one. If I add a new function in either, it should appear in both. If I delete a function, it could probably comment out the other one. Manually having to duplicate one's changes seems silly. Some people have mentioned http://www.lazycplusplus.com/ in response to a similar question, but it seems that that's a command line tool which would require saving and then running this external tool on a particular file. That's still more manual steps than I would have thought were necessary; I'd like this to apply changes as I type.

  • Can getters and setters be inlined when definition and declaration are seperated in .h and .cpp files?

    - by Nathan
    I have searched and have been unable to verify how the GCC compiler will handle inlining getters and setters when declaration is in .h file and definition is in .cpp file. Most seem to say that GCC can't see across these source file barriers and won't be able to inline these at all, while others disagree. I have looked at the documentation and I can't find the answer there either. Did I miss it? I do realize that inlining is a choice made by the compiler and is not always guaranteed, but assuming optimal situations, is it at least possible?

    I'm trying to create a cmake equivalent to the following make: all: run_demo demo: main.cpp gcc -o demo main.cpp run_demo: demo demo is executed whenever demo is created. This what I came to, but demo is not executed as I want: add_executable(demo main.cpp) add_custom_target(run_demo demo) This is actually equivalent to: all: demo demo: main.cpp gcc -o demo main.cpp run_demo:demo What do I miss?

  • Compile error with initializer_list when trying to use it to initialize member value of class

    - by ilektron
    I am trying to make a class initializable from an initialization_list in a class constructor's constructor's initialization list. It works for a std::map, but not for my custom class. I don't see any difference other than templates are used in std::map. #include <iostream> #include <initializer_list> #include <string> #include <sstream> #include <map> using std::string; class text_thing { private: string m_text; public: text_thing() { } text_thing(text_thing& other); text_thing(std::initializer_list< std::pair<const string, const string> >& il); text_thing& operator=(std::initializer_list< std::pair<const string, const string> >& il); operator string() { return m_text; } }; class static_base { private: std::map<string, string> m_test_map; text_thing m_thing; static_base(); public: static static_base& getInstance() { static static_base instance; return instance; } string getText() { return (string)m_thing; } }; typedef std::pair<const string, const string> spair; text_thing::text_thing(text_thing& other) { m_text = other.m_text; } text_thing::text_thing(std::initializer_list< std::pair<const string, const string> >& il) { std::stringstream text_gen; for (auto& apair : il) { text_gen << "{" << apair.first << ", " << apair.second << "}" << std::endl; } } text_thing& text_thing::operator=(std::initializer_list< std::pair<const string, const string> >& il) { std::stringstream text_gen; for (auto& apair : il) { text_gen << "{" << apair.first << ", " << apair.second << "}" << std::endl; } return *this; } static_base::static_base() : m_test_map{{"test", "1"}, {"test2", "2"}}, // Compiler fine with this m_thing{{"test", "1"}, {"test2", "2"}} // Compiler doesn't like this { } int main() { std::cout << "Starting the program" << std::endl; std::cout << "The text thing: " << std::endl << static_base::getInstance().getText(); } I get this compiler output g++ -O0 -g3 -Wall -c -fmessage-length=0 -std=c++11 -MMD -MP -MF"static_base.d" -MT"static_base.d" -o "static_base.o" "../static_base.cpp" Finished building: ../static_base.cpp Building file: ../test.cpp Invoking: GCC C++ Compiler g++ -O0 -g3 -Wall -c -fmessage-length=0 -std=c++11 -MMD -MP -MF"test.d" -MT"test.d" -o "test.o" "../test.cpp" ../test.cpp: In constructor ‘static_base::static_base()’: ../test.cpp:94:40: error: no matching function for call to ‘text_thing::text_thing(<brace-enclosed initializer list>)’ m_thing{{"test", "1"}, {"test2", "2"}} ^ ../test.cpp:94:40: note: candidates are: ../test.cpp:72:1: note: text_thing::text_thing(std::initializer_list<std::pair<const std::basic_string<char>, const std::basic_string<char> > >&) text_thing::text_thing(std::initializer_list< std::pair<const string, const string> >& il) ^ ../test.cpp:72:1: note: candidate expects 1 argument, 2 provided ../test.cpp:67:1: note: text_thing::text_thing(text_thing&) text_thing::text_thing(text_thing& other) ^ ../test.cpp:67:1: note: candidate expects 1 argument, 2 provided ../test.cpp:23:2: note: text_thing::text_thing() text_thing() ^ ../test.cpp:23:2: note: candidate expects 0 arguments, 2 provided make: *** [test.o] Error 1 Output of gcc -v Using built-in specs.   • make emacs in a terminal use dark colors and not light font-lock colors

    - by vy32
    I am using emacs on MacOS 10.6 with Terminal. I have a white background. It's very hard to read quoted C++ strings. They are coming up in pale green. Keywords are in turquoise. After searching through the source I cam across cpp.el and have determined that I am using the cpp-face-light-name-list instead of cpp-face-dark-name-list. Apparently this function is supposed to chose the correct list based on the background color: (defcustom cpp-face-default-list nil "Alist of faces you can choose from for cpp conditionals. Each element has the form (STRING . FACE), where STRING serves as a name (for `cpp-highlight-buffer' only) and FACE is either a face (a symbol) or a cons cell (background-color . COLOR)." :type '(repeat (cons string (choice face (cons (const background-color) string)))) :group 'cpp) But it doesn't seem to be working. What should I put in my .emacs file so that I get the cpp-face-dark-list instead of cpp-face-light-list? Thanks!

  • GDB not breaking on breakpoints set on object creation in C++

    - by Drew
    Hi all, I've got a c++ app, with the following main.cpp: 1: #include <stdio.h> 2: #include "HeatMap.h" 3: #include <iostream> 4: 5: int main (int argc, char * const argv[]) 6: { 7: HeatMap heatMap(); 8: printf("message"); 9: return 0; 10: } Everything compiles without errors, I'm using gdb (GNU gdb 6.3.50-20050815 (Apple version gdb-1346) (Fri Sep 18 20:40:51 UTC 2009)), and compiled the app with gcc (gcc version 4.2.1 (Apple Inc. build 5646) (dot 1)) with the commands "-c -g". When I add breakpoints to lines 7, 8, and 9, and run gdb, I get the following... (gdb) break main.cpp:7 Breakpoint 1 at 0x10000177f: file src/main.cpp, line 8. (gdb) break main.cpp:8 Note: breakpoint 1 also set at pc 0x10000177f. Breakpoint 2 at 0x10000177f: file src/main.cpp, line 8. (gdb) break main.cpp:9 Breakpoint 3 at 0x100001790: file src/main.cpp, line 9. (gdb) run Starting program: /DevProjects/DataManager/build/DataManager Reading symbols for shared libraries ++. done Breakpoint 1, main (argc=1, argv=0x7fff5fbff960) at src/main.cpp:8 8 printf("message"); (gdb) So, why of why, does anyone know, why my app does not break on the breakpoints for the object creation, but does break on the printf line? • How to disable MSBuild's <RegisterOutput> target on a per-user basis?

    - by Roger Lipscombe
    I like to do my development as a normal (non-Admin) user. Our VS2010 project build fails with "Failed to register output. Please try enabling Per-user Redirection or register the component from a command prompt with elevated permissions." Since I'm not at liberty to change the project file, is there any way that I can add user-specific MSBuild targets or properties that disable this step on a specific machine, or for a specific user? I'd prefer not to hack on the core MSBuild files. I don't want to change the project file because I might then accidentally check it back in. Nor do I want to hack on the MSBuild core files, because they might get overwritten by a service pack. Given that the Visual C++ project files (and associated .targets and .props files) have about a million places to alter the build order and to import arbitrary files, I was hoping for something along those lines. MSBuild imports/evaluates the project file as follows (I've only looked down the branches that interest me): Foo.vcxproj Microsoft.Cpp.Default.props Microsoft.Cpp.props $(UserRootDir)\Microsoft.Cpp.$(Platform).user.props Microsoft.Cpp.targets Microsoft.Cpp.$(Platform).targets ImportBefore\* Microsoft.CppCommon.targets The "RegisterOutput" target is defined in Microsoft.CppCommon.targets. I was hoping to replace this by putting a do-nothing "RegisterOutput" target in $(UserRootDir)\Microsoft.Cpp.$(Platform).user.props, which is %LOCALAPPDATA%\MSBuild\v4.0\Microsoft.Cpp.Win32.user.props (UserRootDir is set in Microsoft.Cpp.Default.props if it's not already set). Unfortunately, MSBuild uses the last-defined target, which means that mine gets overridden by the built-in one. Alternatively, I could attempt to set the %(Link.RegisterOutput) metadata, but I'd have to do that on all Link items. Any idea how to do that, or even if it'll work?

  • Xcode newb -- #include can't find my file

    - by morgancodes
    I'm trying to get a third party audio library (STK) working inside Xcode. Along with the standard .h files, many of the implementation files include a file called SKINI.msg. SKINI.msg is in the same directory as all of the header files. The header files are getting included fine, but the compiler complains that it can't find SKINI.msg. What do I need to do to get Xcode to happily include SKINI.msg? Edit: Here's the contents of SKINI.msg: /*********************************************************/ /* Definition of SKINI Message Types and Special Symbols Synthesis toolKit Instrument Network Interface These symbols should have the form: \c __SK_<name>_ where <name> is the string used in the SKINI stream. by Perry R. • How can a Rails newbie find a job as a Rails developer?

    - by esavard
    I'm a Ruby on Rails newbie. I'm learning Rails in my spare time (my day job is C++ developer) and I like it. I would like to be paid to do Rails development full-time instead of C++. How can I find a job in Rails when most job offering requires 2-5 years of Rails experience? What is the most effective strategy to get some credibility as a Rails Developer? Thanks in advance for your answers.

    Hello, I am newbie to jQuery, just trying to learn it since last couple of days. In my office, there are few experience JavaScript Developer and they work mainly with jQuery for all their needs and whenever I got and talk to them to get some better understanding of how jQuery works and first they say is that on $(document).(ready) you do this and on $(document).(ready) you do that. So my main question is What is the $(document).(ready) and how does it really works ? Any inputs would be highly appreciated.

I issued ndk-build -n to get the compilation command and issued it alone in my shell: /home/evigier/android-ndk-r8b/toolchains/arm-linux-androideabi-4.6/prebuilt/linux-x86/bin/arm-linux-androideabi-g++ -MMD -MP -MF /home/evigier/eclipse_workspace/hello_thread/obj/local/armeabi/objs/hello_thread/hello_thread.o.d -fpic -ffunction-sections -funwind-tables -fstack-protector -D__ARM_ARCH_5__ -D__ARM_ARCH_5T__ -D__ARM_ARCH_5E__ -D__ARM_ARCH_5TE__ -march=armv5te -mtune=xscale -msoft-float -fno-exceptions -fno-rtti -mthumb -Os -fomit-frame-pointer -fno-strict-aliasing -finline-limit=64 -I/home/evigier/android-ndk-r8b/sources/cxx-stl/gnu-libstdc++/4.6/include -I/home/evigier/android-ndk-r8b/sources/cxx-stl/gnu-libstdc++/4.6/libs/armeabi/include -I/home/evigier/eclipse_workspace/hello_thread/jni -DANDROID -Wa,--noexecstack -std=c++0x -frtti -O2 -DNDEBUG -g -I/home/evigier/android-ndk-r8b/platforms/android-14/arch-arm/usr/include -c /home/evigier/eclipse_workspace/hello_thread/jni/hello_thread.cpp -o /home/evigier/eclipse_workspace/hello_thread/obj/local/armeabi/objs/hello_thread/hello_thread.o Compile++ thumb : hello_thread <= hello_thread.cpp In file included from /home/evigier/android-ndk-r8b/platforms/android-14/arch-arm/usr/include/stdio.h:55:0, from /home/evigier/android-ndk-r8b/platforms/android-14/arch-arm/usr/include/wchar.h:33, from /home/evigier/android-ndk-r8b/sources/cxx-stl/gnu-libstdc++/4.6/include/cwchar:46, from /home/evigier/android-ndk-r8b/sources/cxx-stl/gnu-libstdc++/4.6/include/bits/postypes.h:42, from /home/evigier/android-ndk-r8b/sources/cxx-stl/gnu-libstdc++/4.6/include/iosfwd:42, from /home/evigier/android-ndk-r8b/sources/cxx-stl/gnu-libstdc++/4.6/include/ios:39, from /home/evigier/android-ndk-r8b/sources/cxx-stl/gnu-libstdc++/4.6/include/ostream:40, from /home/evigier/android-ndk-r8b/sources/cxx-stl/gnu-libstdc++/4.6/include/iostream:40, from jni/hello_thread.cpp:4: /home/evigier/android-ndk-r8b/platforms/android-14/arch-arm/usr/include/sys/types.h:124:9: error: 'uint64_t' does not name a type /home/evigier/eclipse_workspace/hello_thread/jni/hello_thread.cpp: In function 'int main()': /home/evigier/eclipse_workspace/hello_thread/jni/hello_thread.cpp:14:5: error: 'thread' is not a member of 'std' /home/evigier/eclipse_workspace/hello_thread/jni/hello_thread.cpp:14:17: error: expected ';' before 'th' /home/evigier/eclipse_workspace/hello_thread/jni/hello_thread.cpp:15:5: error: 'th' was not declared in this scope I read a lot of threads/questions about POSIX threads and C++ threads, but still cannot find my answer. My arm-linux-androideabi/include/c++/4.6/thread file defines class thread in std only: #if defined(_GLIBCXX_HAS_GTHREADS) && defined(_GLIBCXX_USE_C99_STDINT_TR1) They don't seem to be defined in my sdk (c++config.h). But how can I possibly turn them on safely? Do i need to compile my own toolchain to use (non-p)threads? • Need to get .obj file names of Executable(which one is crrently executing) at runtime programaticall

    - by Usman
    Suppose I have a VC++ project contains no of(say e.g 5) Source files(.cpp files),it will generate 5 .obj files(obj files corresponding to my .cpp's files not all kernel and OS layers including .obj files) e.g my project includes xyz_1.cpp,xyz_2.cpp,xyz_3.cpp,xyz_4.cpp,it will corresponds 4 respective .objs. By programtaically HOW CAN I TAKE AND GET THE NAMES OF THESE 4 .OBJ files at runtime(On run time I need to check how many obj files & names of those objs). REMEMBER I DON'T NEED ALL KERNEL AND OS LAYER .OBJS I ONLY NEED OBJS OF MY .CPPs. Regards Usman

  • Wrapping a pure virtual method with multiple arguments with Boost.Python

    - by fallino
    Hello, I followed the "official" tutorial and others but still don't manage to expose this pure virtual method (getPeptide) : ms_mascotresults.hpp class ms_mascotresults { public: ms_mascotresults(ms_mascotresfile &resfile, const unsigned int flags, double minProbability, int maxHitsToReport, const char * unigeneIndexFile, const char * singleHit = 0); ... virtual ms_peptide getPeptide(const int q, const int p) const = 0; } ms_mascotresults.cpp #include <boost/python.hpp> using namespace boost::python; #include "msparser.hpp" // which includes "ms_mascotresults.hpp" using namespace matrix_science; #include <iostream> #include <sstream> struct ms_mascotresults_wrapper : ms_mascotresults, wrapper<ms_mascotresults> { ms_peptide getPeptide(const int q, const int p) { this->get_override("getPeptide")(q); this->get_override("getPeptide")(p); } }; BOOST_PYTHON_MODULE(ms_mascotresults) { class_<ms_mascotresults_wrapper, boost::noncopyable>("ms_mascotresults") .def("getPeptide", pure_virtual(&ms_mascotresults::getPeptide) ) ; } Here are the bjam's errors : /usr/local/boost_1_42_0/boost/python/object/value_holder.hpp:66: error: cannot declare field ‘boost::python::objects::value_holder<ms_mascotresults_wrapper>::m_held’ to be of abstract type ‘ms_mascotresults_wrapper’ ms_mascotresults.cpp:12: note: because the following virtual functions are pure within ‘ms_mascotresults_wrapper’: ... include/ms_mascotresults.hpp:334: note: virtual matrix_science::ms_peptide matrix_science::ms_mascotresults::getPeptide(int, int) const ms_mascotresults.cpp: In constructor ‘ms_mascotresults_wrapper::ms_mascotresults_wrapper()’: ms_mascotresults.cpp:12: error: no matching function for call to ‘matrix_science::ms_mascotresults::ms_mascotresults()’ include/ms_mascotresults.hpp:284: note: candidates are: matrix_science::ms_mascotresults::ms_mascotresults(matrix_science::ms_mascotresfile&, unsigned int, double, int, const char*, const char*) include/ms_mascotresults.hpp:109: note: matrix_science::ms_mascotresults::ms_mascotresults(const matrix_science::ms_mascotresults&) ... /usr/local/boost_1_42_0/boost/python/object/value_holder.hpp: In constructor ‘boost::python::objects::value_holder<Value>::value_holder(PyObject*) [with Value = ms_mascotresults_wrapper]’: /usr/local/boost_1_42_0/boost/python/object/value_holder.hpp:137: note: synthesized method ‘ms_mascotresults_wrapper::ms_mascotresults_wrapper()’ first required here /usr/local/boost_1_42_0/boost/python/object/value_holder.hpp:137: error: cannot allocate an object of abstract type ‘ms_mascotresults_wrapper’ ms_mascotresults.cpp:12: note: since type ‘ms_mascotresults_wrapper’ has pure virtual functions So I tried to change the constructor's signature by : BOOST_PYTHON_MODULE(ms_mascotresults) { //class_<ms_mascotresults_wrapper, boost::noncopyable>("ms_mascotresults") class_<ms_mascotresults_wrapper, boost::noncopyable>("ms_mascotresults", init<ms_mascotresfile &, const unsigned int, double, int, const char *,const char *>()) .def("getPeptide", pure_virtual(&ms_mascotresults::getPeptide) ) Giving these errors : /usr/local/boost_1_42_0/boost/python/object/value_holder.hpp:66: error: cannot declare field ‘boost::python::objects::value_holder<ms_mascotresults_wrapper>::m_held’ to be of abstract type ‘ms_mascotresults_wrapper’ ms_mascotresults.cpp:12: note: because the following virtual functions are pure within ‘ms_mascotresults_wrapper’: include/ms_mascotresults.hpp:334: note: virtual matrix_science::ms_peptide matrix_science::ms_mascotresults::getPeptide(int, int) const ... ms_mascotresults.cpp:24: instantiated from here /usr/local/boost_1_42_0/boost/python/object/value_holder.hpp:137: error: no matching function for call to ‘ms_mascotresults_wrapper::ms_mascotresults_wrapper(matrix_science::ms_mascotresfile&, const unsigned int&, const double&, const int&, const char* const&, const char* const&)’ ms_mascotresults.cpp:12: note: candidates are: ms_mascotresults_wrapper::ms_mascotresults_wrapper(const ms_mascotresults_wrapper&) ms_mascotresults.cpp:12: note: ms_mascotresults_wrapper::ms_mascotresults_wrapper() If I comment the virtual function getPeptide in the .hpp, it builds perfectly with this constructor : class_<ms_mascotresults>("ms_mascotresults", init<ms_mascotresfile &, const unsigned int, double, int, const char *,const char *>() ) So I'm a bit lost...

  • MinGW Doesn't Generate an Object File When Compiling

    - by Nathan Campos
    I've just bought a new laptop for me on the travel, then on my free time, I've started to test MinGW on it by trying to compile my own OS that is written in C++, then I've created all the files needed and the kernel.cpp: extern "C" void _main(struct multiboot_data* mbd, unsigned int magic); void _main( struct multiboot_data* mbd, unsigned int magic ) { char * boot_loader_name =(char*) ((long*)mbd)[16]; /* Print a letter to screen to see everything is working: */ unsigned char *videoram = (unsigned char *) 0xb8000; videoram[0] = 65; /* character 'A' */ videoram[1] = 0x07; /* forground, background color. */ } And tried to compile it with g++ G: g++ -o C:\kernel.o -c kernel.cpp -Wall -Wextra -Werror -nostdlib -nostartfiles -nodefaultlibs kernel.cpp: In function `void _main(multiboot_data*, unsigned int)': kernel.cpp:8: warning: unused variable 'boot_loader_name' kernel.cpp: At global scope: kernel.cpp:4: warning: unused parameter 'magic' G: But it don't create any binary file at C:/. What can I do?
