  • layout problems with site

    - by user1506962
    I have a problem with my site. When I resize the window everything stays still and doesn't move, the window just crosses over everything. Here are the images to epxlain it a bit better.. hopefully. This is the site in normal window - http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/407/problem2a.jpg/ and when resized - http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/696/problemim.jpg/ Can anyone tell me what the problem is? I would like my layout to work like this website - http://www.thisoldbear.com/ -----EDIT----- body { width: 1400px; -ms-overflow-x: hidden; overflow-x: hidden; background: url(../../core/images/bg.png); font-family: 'Pontano Sans', sans-serif; } #logo { background: url(../../core/images/logo.png); width: 124px; height: 171px; margin: -86px 185px; } nav { margin: 0 300px; } a { text-decoration: none; font-size: 17px; color: #f4f4f4; outline: none; padding-left: 50px; } a:hover { text-decoration: underline; } p { font-size: 22px; color: #444; } h2 { font-size: 29px; color: #444; } header { background: url(../../core/images/header.png); padding: 32px; margin: -8px -8px; } .content { padding: 10px; width: 700px; border-top: 4px solid #d55d58; margin: 100px 200px; } .break { margin: -50px 0; }

  • How do I vertcally align thumbnails of unknown height using jQuery?

    - by playahabana
    Ok, I am a complete beginner to this, in fact I am still building my first website. I am attempting to do this all by hand-coding without a CMS in order to try and learn as much possible as quickly as possible. If this post is in the wrong place I apologise, and a pointer to right place would be appreciated. Here goes, I am trying to peice together a bit of jQuery that will automatically vertically align my thumbnails in my image gallery (they are all different sizes). They are within fixed size div's and the function I am attempting looks something like this: <script type="text/javascript"> $('#ul.photo).bind(function() { var smartVert=$(this); var phty=ob.("ul.photo img").height(); //get height of photos var phtdif=Math.floor(208 - phty); //subtract height of photo from div height var phttop=Math.floor(phtdif / 2); //gets padding reqd. $ob.("ul.photo").css({'padding-top' : phttop}) //sets padding to center thumbnail }); smartVert(); unsurprisingly this doesn't work, if some kindly soul could take pity on a total noob, and point out where I am going wrong (probably in writing complete gibberish would be my first guess) it would be greatly appreciated- even if you could just point me in the direcion of a tutorial regarding these things, I have looked and found one reference that said such a function was easy to create, but it did not elaborate. thankyou in advance

  • jquery pagination plugin doesn't quite work right for me...

    - by Pandiya Chendur
    My page has the following jquery statements, <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { getRecordspage(1, 5); }); </script> It works fine but how to add callback function to my pagination( callback://)? function getRecordspage(curPage, pagSize) { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "Default.aspx/GetRecords", data: "{'currentPage':" + curPage + ",'pagesize':" + pagSize + "}", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", success: function(jsonObj) { var strarr = jsonObj.d.split('##'); var jsob = jQuery.parseJSON(strarr[0]); var divs = ''; $.each(jsob.Table, function(i, employee) { divs += '<div class="resultsdiv"><br /><span class="resultName">' + employee.Emp_Name + '</span><span class="resultfields" style="padding-left:100px;">Category&nbsp;:</span>&nbsp;<span class="resultfieldvalues">' + employee.Desig_Name + '</span><br /><br /><span id="SalaryBasis" class="resultfields">Salary Basis&nbsp;:</span>&nbsp;<span class="resultfieldvalues">' + employee.SalaryBasis + '</span><span class="resultfields" style="padding-left:25px;">Salary&nbsp;:</span>&nbsp;<span class="resultfieldvalues">' + employee.FixedSalary + '</span><span style="font-size:110%;font-weight:bolder;padding-left:25px;">Address&nbsp;:</span>&nbsp;<span class="resultfieldvalues">' + employee.Address + '</span></div>'; }); $("#ResultsDiv").append(divs).show('slow'); $(".pager").pagination(strarr[1], { // callback function call to this method current_page: curPage-1, items_per_page: '5', num_display_entries : '5', next_text: 'Next', prev_text: 'Prev', num_edge_entries: '1' }); } }); } On the initial page load i get all divs with page numbers generated but when i click the next page number nothing happens because callback is not configured....Because my callback function has to call the same method with the current anchor tag which is clicked... Any suggestion how to get this done.......

    here are the code snippets for the html and css. It works finds in Google chrome, but when I try to display it in mozilla or IE, it shows something completely different. I cannot attach images as I do not have the required reputation. I really appreciate the help. Thank you! • C socket and openssl (RSA)

    - by giozh
    there's something strange in my client/server socket using RSA. If i test it on localhost, everithing goes fine, but if i put client on a pc and server on othe pc, something gone wrong. Client after call connect, call a method for public keys exchange with server. This part of code works fine. After this, client send a request to server: strcpy(send_pack->op, "help\n"); RSA_public_encrypt(strlen(send_pack->op), send_pack->op, encrypted_send->op, rsa_server, padding); rw_value = write(server, encrypted_send, sizeof (encrypted_pack)); if (rw_value == -1) { stampa_errore(write_error); close(server); exit(1); } if (rw_value == 0) { stampa_errore(no_response); close(server); exit(1); } printf("---Help send, waiting for response\n"); set_alarm(); rw_value = read(server, encrypted_receive, sizeof (encrypted_pack)); alarm(0); if (rw_value == -1) { stampa_errore(read_error); exit(1); } if (rw_value == 0) { stampa_errore(no_response); close(server); exit(1); } RSA_private_decrypt(RSA_size(rsa), encrypted_receive->message, receive_pack->message, rsa, padding); printf("%s\n", receive_pack->message); return; } but when server try to decrypt the receive message on server side, the "help" string doesn't appear. This happen only on the net, on localhost the same code works fine... EDIT: typedef struct pack1 { unsigned char user[encrypted_size]; unsigned char password[encrypted_size]; unsigned char op[encrypted_size]; unsigned char obj[encrypted_size]; unsigned char message[encrypted_size]; int id; }encrypted_pack; encrypted_size is 512, and padding used is RSA_PKCS1_PADDING

mso-style-unhide:no; mso-tstyle-shading:#F7CBC7; mso-tstyle-shading-themecolor:accent6; mso-tstyle-shading-themetint:63;} It is generally accepted among business communities that technology by itself is not a silver bullet to all problems, but when it is combined with leading practices, strategy, careful planning and execution, it can create a recipe for success. This post attempts to highlight some of the best practices along with dos & don’ts that our practice has accumulated over the years in the identity & access management space in general, and also in the context of R2, in particular. Best Practices The following section illustrates the leading practices in “How” to plan, implement and sustain a successful OIM deployment, based on our collective experience. Planning is critical, but often overlooked A common approach to planning an IAM program that we identify with our clients is the three step process involving a current state assessment, a future state roadmap and an executable strategy to get there. It is extremely beneficial for clients to assess their current IAM state, perform gap analysis, document the recommended controls to address the gaps, align future state roadmap to business initiatives and get buy in from all stakeholders involved to improve the chances of success. When designing an enterprise-wide solution, the scalability of the technology must accommodate the future growth of the enterprise and the projected identity transactions over several years. Aligning the implementation schedule of OIM to related information technology projects increases the chances of success. As a baseline, it is recommended to match hardware specifications to the sizing guide for R2 published by Oracle. Adherence to this will help ensure that the hardware used to support OIM will not become a bottleneck as the adoption of new services increases. If your Organization has numerous connected applications that rely on reconciliation to synchronize the access data into OIM, consider hosting dedicated instances to handle reconciliation. Finally, ensure the use of clustered environment for development and have at least three total environments to help facilitate a controlled migration to production. If your Organization is planning to implement role based access control, we recommend performing a role mining exercise and consolidate your enterprise roles to keep them manageable. In addition, many Organizations have multiple approval flows to control access to critical roles, applications and entitlements. If your Organization falls into this category, we highly recommend that you limit the number of approval workflows to a small set. Most Organizations have operations managed across data centers with backend database synchronization, if your Organization falls into this category, ensure that the overall latency between the datacenters when replicating the databases is less than ten milliseconds to ensure that there are no front office performance impacts. Ingredients for a successful implementation During the development phase of your project, there are a number of guidelines that can be followed to help increase the chances for success. Most implementations cannot be completed without the use of customizations. If your implementation requires this, it’s a good practice to perform code reviews to help ensure quality and reduce code bottlenecks related to performance. We have observed at our clients that the development process works best when team members adhere to coding leading practices. Plan for time to correct coding defects and ensure developers are empowered to report their own bugs for maximum transparency. Many organizations struggle with defining a consistent approach to managing logs. This is particularly important due to the amount of information that can be logged by OIM. We recommend Oracle Diagnostics Logging (ODL) as an alternative to be used for logging. ODL allows log files to be formatted in XML for easy parsing and does not require a server restart when the log levels are changed during troubleshooting. Testing is a vital part of any large project, and an OIM R2 implementation is no exception. We suggest that at least one lower environment should use production-like data and connectors. Configurations should match as closely as possible. For example, use secure channels between OIM and target platforms in pre-production environments to test the configurations, the migration processes of certificates, and the additional overhead that encryption could impose. Finally, we ask our clients to perform database backups regularly and before any major change event, such as a patch or migration between environments. In the lowest environments, we recommend to have at least a weekly backup in order to prevent significant loss of time and effort. Similarly, if your organization is using virtual machines for one or more of the environments, it is recommended to take frequent snapshots so that rollbacks can occur in the event of improper configuration. Operate & sustain the solution to derive maximum benefits When migrating OIM R2 to production, it is important to perform certain activities that will help achieve a smoother transition. At our clients, we have seen that splitting the OIM tables into their own tablespaces by categories (physical tables, indexes, etc.) can help manage database growth effectively. If we notice that a client hasn’t enabled the Oracle-recommended indexing in the applicable database, we strongly suggest doing so to improve performance. Additionally, we work with our clients to make sure that the audit level is set to fit the organization’s auditing needs and sometimes even allocate UPA tables and indexes into their own table-space for better maintenance. Finally, many of our clients have set up schedules for reconciliation tables to be archived at regular intervals in order to keep the size of the database(s) reasonable and result in optimal database performance. For our clients that anticipate availability issues with target applications, we strongly encourage the use of the offline provisioning capabilities of OIM R2. This reduces the provisioning process for a given target application dependency on target availability and help avoid broken workflows. To account for this and other abnormalities, we also advocate that OIM’s monitoring controls be configured to alert administrators on any abnormal situations. Within OIM R2, we have begun advising our clients to utilize the ‘profile’ feature to encapsulate multiple commonly requested accounts, roles, and/or entitlements into a single item. By setting up a number of profiles that can be searched for and used, users will spend less time performing the same exact steps for common tasks. We advise our clients to follow the Oracle recommended guides for database and application server tuning which provides a good baseline configuration. It offers guidance on database connection pools, connection timeouts, user interface threads and proper handling of adapters/plug-ins. All of these can be important configurations that will allow faster provisioning and web page response times. Many of our clients have begun to recognize the value of data mining and a remediation process during the initial phases of an implementation (to help ensure high quality data gets loaded) and beyond (to support ongoing maintenance and business-as-usual processes). A successful program always begins with identifying the data elements and assigning a classification level based on criticality, risk, and availability. It should finish by following through with a remediation process. Dos & Don’ts Here are the most common dos and don'ts that we socialize with our clients, derived from our experience implementing the solution. Dos Don’ts Scope the project into phases with realistic goals. Look for quick wins to show success and value to the stake holders. Avoid “boiling the ocean” and trying to integrate all enterprise applications in the first phase. Establish an enterprise ID (universal unique ID across the enterprise) earlier in the program. Avoid major UI customizations that require code changes. Have a plan in place to patch during the project, which helps alleviate any major issues or roadblocks (product and database). Avoid publishing all the target entitlements if you don't anticipate their usage during access request. Assess your current state and prepare a roadmap to address your operations, tactical and strategic goals, align it with your business priorities. Avoid integrating non-production environments with your production target systems. Defer complex integrations to the later phases and take advantage of lessons learned from previous phases Avoid creating multiple accounts for the same user on the same system, if there is an opportunity to do so. Have an identity and access data quality initiative built into your plan to identify and remediate data related issues early on. Avoid creating complex approval workflows that would negative impact productivity and SLAs. Identify the owner of the identity systems with fair IdM knowledge and empower them with authority to make product related decisions. This will help ensure overcome any design hurdles. Avoid creating complex designs that are not sustainable long term and would need major overhaul during upgrades. Shadow your internal or external consulting resources during the implementation to build the necessary product skills needed to operate and sustain the solution. Avoid treating IAM as a point solution and have appropriate level of communication and training plan for the IT and business users alike. Conclusion In our experience, Identity programs will struggle with scope, proper resourcing, and more. We suggest that companies consider the suggestions discussed in this post and leverage them to help enable their identity and access program. • Chrome browser rendering unpredictable mobile layout

    - by steve
    I am having a very hard time debugging this issue, I may as well find out if others have seen anything similar. I am finding that Webkit browsers are rendering extra space in a stacked menu I'm using for the mobile layout on a site I'm developing. The best way to describe this is with the following images: You can see that the is selected and shown with the padding. There is no margin, and yet there is some space between the top of the padding and the bottom border of the sibling. Here is how it is supposed to look in Firefox: I am interested to see if the community knows what in the world is going on! As I move through the inspector, I am not able to highlight the offending area, making this very hard to diagnose, as I've said.

Is it so.. Please suggest me..

  • How to fix width of DIV that contains floated elements?

    - by joe
    I have a DIV container with several inner DIVs layed out by floating them all left. The inner DIVs may change width on certain events, and the containing DIV adjusts accordingly. I use float:left in the container to keep it shrunk to the width of the inner divs. I use float:left in the inner divs so the layout is clean even when their contents change. The catch is that I want the DIV container width and height to remain constant, UNLESS a particular event causes a change to the inner widths. Conceptually I want to use float on the inners for the layout benefit, but then I want to "fix" them so they don't float around. So if the container is 700px wide, I want it to remain so even if the user narrows the browser window. I'd like the container, and it's internal DIVs to just be clipped by the browser window. I sense this can all be done nicely in CSS, I just can't quite figure out how. I'm not averse to adding another container if necessary... Since the only desired layout changes are event-based, I am also willing to use a bit of JS. But is this necessary? (And I'm still not sure I know what to modify: container dimensions? inner floatiness? other?) <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html> <head> <style type="text/css"> #canvas { overflow:auto; /* for clearing floats */ } #container { float:left; /* so container shrinks around contained divs */ border:thin solid blue; } .inner { float:left; /* so inner elems line up nicely w/o saying fixed coords */ padding-top:8px; padding-bottom:4px; padding-left:80px; padding-right:80px; } #inner1 { background-color:#ffdddd; } #inner2 { background-color:#ddffdd; } #inner3 { background-color:#ddddff; } </style> </head> <body> <div id="canvas"> <div id="container"> <div id="inner1" class="inner"> inner 1 </div> <div id="inner2" class="inner"> inner 2 </div> <div id="inner3" class="inner"> inner 3 </div> </div> </div> cleared element </body> </html>

  • css sticky footer without scrolbar

    - by massinissa
    How to do to avoid having the scroller with a sticky footer to the bottom of the page (not bottom of window)? When I remove height=100% from content and sidebar, I'm no more getting the scroller. However, when doing so, my content and sidebar do not fill all the space down to the footer. <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta content="text/html; charset=utf-8" http-equiv="Content-Type" /> <title>Untitled 13</title> <style media="all" type="text/css"> * { margin: 0; padding: 0; } html, body, #wrap, form { height: 100%; } #wrap, #footer { width: 750px; margin: 0 auto; } #wrap { background: #cff; } html, body { color: #000; background: #a7a09a; } body > #wrap { height: 100%; min-height: 100%; } form { /*height: auto;*/ min-height: 100%; } #main { background: #000; height:100%; min-height:100%; height: auto !important; */ } #content { height:100%; float: left; padding: 10px; float: left; width: 570px; background: #9c9; } #sidebar { height:100%; float: left; width: 140px; background: #c99; padding: 10px; } #footer { position: relative; margin-top: -100px; height: 100px; clear: both; background: #cc9; bottom: 0; } .clearfix:after { content: "."; display: block; height: 0; clear: both; visibility: hidden; } .clearfix { display: inline-block; } * html .clearfix { height: 1%; } .clearfix { display: block; } #header { /*padding: 5px 10px;*/ background: #ddd; } </style> </head> <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <div id="wrap"> <div id="main" class="clearfix"> <div id="header"> <h1>header</h1> </div> <div id="sidebar"> <h2>sidebar</h2> </div> <div id="content"> <h2>main content</h2> </div> </div> </div> <div id="footer"> <h2>footer</h2> </div> </form> </body> </html>

  • adv. styling list with css

    - by Ayrton
    Hi I need to style a regular html list like the following picture: as you see each each list item has a padding on the sides and a top&bottom border. When hovered the border has a width of 100% of the <ul> item. Now the problem actually is: when you give each <li> element a top & bottom border I have a border of 2 px between each element (bottom border from the first element and the top border from the second element), I don't want that however I do not know any solution for this. my html: <div id="tab_top" class="tab"> <div class="bottom"> <div class="cont"> <ul> <li><a href="#">Here’s a Sample Post <span class="ct">32</span></a></li> <li><a href="#">Here’s a Sample Post <span class="ct">32</span></a></li> <li><a href="#">Here’s a Sample Post <span class="ct">32</span></a></li> <li><a href="#">Here’s a Sample Post <span class="ct">32</span></a></li> <li><a href="#">Here’s a Sample Post <span class="ct">32</span></a></li> <li><a href="#">Here’s a Sample Post <span class="ct">32</span></a></li> <li><a href="#">Here’s a Sample Post <span class="ct">32</span></a></li> </ul> </div> </div> </div> my css: #tabs .tab div.cont ul li a{line-height:30px; height:30px; color:#3ca097; display:block; padding-left:11px; padding-right:13px; width:259px;} #tabs .tab div.cont ul li a span.ct{float:right;background:url(images/count_comments.gif) no-repeat left top; height:13px; padding-left:16px; margin-top:10px; line-height:12px;} #tabs .tab div.cont ul li a:hover{color:#fff; background-color:#6fd2c8; border-top:1px solid #7db9b2; border-bottom:1px solid #7db9b2; height:28px; line-height:28px;} #tabs .tab div.cont ul li a:hover span.ct{background-position:left bottom; color:#23665f; margin-top:9px;} I would be pleased if you can help me Yours truthfully

  • Insert random <script> for using $(document).ready(function()}); in Joomla

    - by Anriëtte Combrink
    Hi I have an article in which I use PHP code inside the text editor in Joomla, in the backend. I can see jQuery already called when the page loads, here is my code inside the Article edit textbox: <?php $username="XXX"; $password="XXX"; $database="XXX"; mysql_connect('localhost',$username,$password) or die(mysql_error()); mysql_select_db($database) or die("Unable to select database"); $result=mysql_query("SELECT * FROM birthdays ORDER BY name") or die(mysql_error()); echo "<table width='100%' cellspacing='10' cellpadding='0' border='0'>"; echo "<tr valign='top'><th align='left'></th><th align='left'>Name</th><th align='left'>Email</th><th align='left'>Day</th><th align='left'>Month</th></tr><tr><td>&nbsp;</td></tr>"; while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { echo "<tr>"; echo '<td valign="top"><a href="#" id="'.$row['id'].'" class="delete_birthday"><img src="administrator/components/com_media/images/remove.png" alt="Delete user" /></a><input type="hidden" name="id[]" value="'.$row['id'].'" /></td>'; echo "<td valign='top' style='border-bottom:1px dotted #333333; padding:2px;'>"; echo $row['name']; echo "</td>"; echo "<td valign='top' style='border-bottom:1px dotted #333333; padding:2px;'>"; echo $row['email']; echo "</td>"; echo "<td align='center' valign='top' style='border-bottom:1px dotted #333333; padding:2px;'>"; echo $row['birthday']; echo "</td>"; echo "<td align='center' valign='top' style='border-bottom:1px dotted #333333; padding:2px;'>"; echo $row['birthmonth']; echo "</td>"; echo "</tr>"; } echo "</table>"; ?> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { alert("hello"); }); </script> At the moment, nothing alerts (just alerting for testing if jQuery gets recognised, I am obviously going to put in click handlers), so I assume the $(document).ready() never gets triggered. I can see the code in the source, but it just never gets called. Anybody have any advice? BTW. the SC jQuery plugin is installed already to prevent library conflicts.

  • .animate question/help

    - by Josh
    So, I've built this navigation bar so far and I'm curious if it's even possible to achieve what I'm thinking. Currently, when you hover over each of the links they drop down (padding is increased). Now, what I'm curious in doing is if you hover over say "test1", test2-4 also drop with it but in the padding that has been created from the drop down, "test1" information shows up. Allowing the user to click or read whatever information is in there. Also, if the user would like to, they can move their mouse to test2 and everything would animate (opacity, this I can do I think) to whatever is in the test2 field, test3 doing the same and so on. I haven't had much success with this, I've created a completely separate panel before, but that didn't exactly work or I wasn't doing it correctly. Here is what I've been working on, ANY help would be appreciated! Thanks! <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { $("#nav li > a").hover(function() { $(this).stop().animate({paddingTop: "100px"}, 100); }, function() { $(this).stop().animate({paddingTop: "10px"}, 200); }); }); </script> <style type="text/css"> #nav { position: absolute; top: 0; left: 60px; padding: 0; margin: 0; list-style: none; } #nav li { display: inline; } #nav li a { float: left; display: block; color: #555; text-decoration: none; padding: 10px 30px; background-color: #d1d1d1; border-top: none; } </style> </head> <body> <div id="wrap"> <ul id="nav"> <li><a href="">test1</a></li> <li><a href="">test2</a></li> <li><a href="">test3</a></li> <li><a href="">test4</a></li> </ul> </div> </body> </html>

  • How do I effectively fake a div's background color using an image in the body element?

    - by janoChen
    I want to get something like the following: The dark grey is the sidebar but I want to apply that color into the body element as an image which repeats itself vertically but at the same time doesn't cover the footer (light gray). (this is the easiest way I found to stretch the color (dark gray) until the bottom.) Part of my CSS: body { color: #888; font-family: Arial, "MS Trebuchet", sans-serif; font-size: 75% } .container { margin: 0 auto; overflow: hidden; padding: 0 15px; width: 960px; } /* header */ #header { background: #444; } /* banner */ #header-top { overflow: hidden; height: 77px; width: 960px; /* ie6 hack */ } #lang { float: right; padding: 50px 0 0 0; } /* work */ #content { background: #EEE; } #content a { border-bottom: 0; } #mainbar { overflow: hidden; margin: 0 10px 0 0; width: 644; float: left; } #sidebar { background: #DDD; color: #777; overflow: hidden; margin: 20px 0 10px 0; padding: 15px; width: 240px; float: right; } #sidebar h3 { color: #888; } #about { margin: 0 0 20px; } /* footer */ #footer { color: #777; background: #DDD; clear: both; } /* contact */ #footer-top { line-height: 160%; overflow: hidden; padding: 30px 0; width: 960px; /* ie6 hack */ } #footer-bottom { font-size: 10px; margin: 15px auto; } Part of my HTML: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7"/> <title>Alex Chen - Web Development, Graphic Design, and Translation</title> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="styles/global.css" /> </head> <body id="home"> <div id="header"> <div class="container"> <div id="header-top"> </div> </div><!-- .container --> </div><!-- #header --> <div id="content"> <div class="container"> <div id="mainbar"> </div> <!-- #mainbar--> <div id=sidebar> </div> <!-- #sidebar --> </div><!-- .container --> </div><!-- #content --> <div id="footer"> <div class="container"> <div id="footer-top"> </div><!-- #footer-top --> <div id="footer-bottom"> </div> </div><!-- .container --> </div><!-- #footer --> </body> </html>

  • css, unordered list not displaying icon in right place...

    - by Ronedog
    I'm really frustrated with this one. A few weeks ago I got it working in both firefox and ie just fine. Went back today to do some testing and found a problem with the display in firefox and I've been searching the code but can't find anything. I could use a few tips from anyone willing, I'm sure I'm looking at the wrong things. I upgraded my firefox version but I imagine my code is broke, not firefox. I'm assuming the problem is somewhere in my css file, but I'm not sure. Here's what I've confirmed so far. There don't seem to be conflicts in other css files with < ul 's or < li 's that may be overriding settings. The other confirmation is that This works fine in Internet Explorer...therefore I must be an idiot, because its usually been the other way around (working in FF, but failing in IE). Here's How it looks in IE (Notice the position of the folder icon right next to the text): Here's how it looks in FF (Notice the folder icon is not being pushed down with its corresponding text). Here's the Unordered List: <ul id="nav"> <li><a>Utah</a></li> <ul> <li><a>ParkCity</a> <ul> <li><a>Com1</a></li> <ul> <li class="folder_closed"><a>Timber</a></li> <div>SQUARE CONTAINER IS INSIDE THIS DIV</div> </ul> </ul> </ul> </ul> Here's the CSS that is used for the whole menu: /* MENU NAVIGATION (<UL><LI> LISTS ****************************************/ ul#nav{ /* This handles the main root <ul> */ margin-left:0; margin-right:0; padding-left:0px; text-indent:15px; } ul#nav div{ overflow: hidden; } #nav li>a:hover { cursor: pointer; } #nav li > ul{ /* This will hide any element with an id of "nav" and an "li" that has a direct child that is a "ul" */ display:none; margin-left:0px; margin-right:0px; padding-left:15px; padding-right:0px; text-indent:15px; } #nav li { list-style-type:none; list-style-image: none; } #nav > li{ vertical-align: top; left:0px; text-align:left; clear: both; margin:0px; margin-right:0px; padding-right:0px; } .menu_parent{ background-image: url(../images/maximize.png); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: 0px 1px; position:relative; } .menu_parent_minimized{ background-image: url(../images/minimize.png); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: 0px 1px; position:relative; } .folder_closed{ position:relative; background-image: url(../images/folder_closed12x14.png); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: 0px -2px; } .folder_open{ position:relative; background-image: url(../images/folder_open12x14.png); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: 0px -2px; } </ul>

  • How to get dropdown menu to open/close on click rather than hover?

    - by TankDriver
    Hello! I am very new to java and ajax/jquery and have been working on trying to get a script to open and close the drop menu on click rather that hover. The menu in question is found on http://www.gamefriction.com/Coded/ and is the dark menu on the right side under the header. I would like it to open and close like the other menu that is further below it (it is light gray and is in the "Select Division" module). The gray menu is part of a menu and the language menu is not. I have a jquery import as well which can be found in the view source of the above link. • Am I suffering "divitis"? (CSS especialist needed)

    - by janoChen
    I've read lots of articles that condemn the excessive use of divs. I have a feeling that I might be doing that in the following mark up: HTML: <div id="header"> <div class="container"> <div id="banner"> <h1><a href="http://widerdesign.co.nr/">wider design</a></h1> <ul id="lang"> <li><a href="index.php">English</a></li> <li><a href="es/index.php">Español</a></li> <li><a href="tw/index.php">??(??)</a></li> <li><a href="cn/index.php">??(??)</a></li> </ul> </div> <div id="intro"> <div id="tagline"> <h2>Nulla vitae tortor mauris</h2> <p>Pellentesque faucibus est eu tellus varius in susc...</p> </div> <div id="about"> <h2>right</h2> <p>Pellentesque faucibus est eu tellus varius in susc...</p> </div> </div><!-- #intro --> </div><!-- .container --> </div><!-- #header --> CSS: .container { margin: 0 auto; overflow: hidden; width: 960px; } /* header */ #header { background: #EEE; } #header h1 { float: left; } #header h2, #header a, #header p { color: #999; } #header h1 a { background: url(../images/logo.png) no-repeat scroll 0 0; float: left; height: 30px; text-indent: -9999px; width: 500px; } #banner { border-bottom: 1px solid #DDD; padding: 0 0 15px 0; margin: 30px 0 30px 0; overflow: hidden; width: 960px; } #lang { float: right; padding: 9px 0 0 0; } #lang li { float: left; margin: 0 0 0 20px; } #lang li a { font-size: 10px; } /* intro */ #intro { overflow: hidden; padding: 0 0 30px 0; } #tagline { float: left; margin: 0 40px 0 0; width: 540px; /* 560 */ } #tagline h2 { font-size: 24px; } #about { float: right; width: 380px; } Explanation of the use of those divs: header: Defines the background color which expands until the end of the window (lies outside of the div .container). container: centers the content (but not the background). banner: to define the background or border color around ul#lang and h1. intro: same as above but for #tagline and #about (otherwise I have to define say padding or margin for tagline and about individually). Am I overusing divs? Can this be simplified?

    This is another noobish mistake from me but I've placed some text in my page but after adding some padding to my div tag it's impossible for me to place my Text in the vertical center. • how to make css submenu stay put when subpage has been selected.

    - by Ronedog
    I have a css horizontal menu with a menu / submenu display working on the hover, but I would also like to make the submenu options stay put when I've selected that page. The code below shows the submenu on hover, but goes away on mouse out. I'm having some difficulty figuring out how to make my code work to keep the submenu items staying put? How can I do this? Thanks for your help. Here's the HTML: <ul id="menu_nav"> <li> <a href="#" class="button">Home</a> <span> <a href="#">Home Link1</a> <a href="#">Home Link2</a> <a href="#">Home Link3</a> </span> </li> <li> <a href="#" class="button">About Us</a> <span> <a href="#">About Link1</a> <a href="#">About Link2</a> <a href="#">About Link3</a> </span> </li> </ul> Here's the CSS ul#menu_nav { position:relative; float:left; width:790px; padding:0; margin:0; list-style-type:none; background-color:#000099; } ul#menu_nav li {float: left; margin: 0; padding: 0; border-right: 1px solid #555;} ul#menu_nav li a.button { float:left; text-decoration:none; color:white; background-color:#000099; padding:0.2em 0.6em; border-right:1px solid #CCCCCC; font-family: Tahoma; font-size: 11px; font-style: normal; font-weight: bold; position: relative; height: 21px; line-height:1.85em; } ul#menu_nav li a:hover { background-color:#F7F7F7; color:#000099; border-top:1px solid #CCCCCC; } ul#menu_nav li span{ float: left; padding: 15px 0; position: absolute; left: 0; top:25px; display: none; /*--Hide by default--*/ width: 790px; background: #F7F7F7; color: #fff; } ul#menu_nav li:hover span { display: block; } /*--Show subnav on hover--*/ ul#menu_nav li span a { display: inline; } /*--Since we declared a link style on the parent list link, we will correct it back to its original state--*/ ul#menu_nav li span a:hover {text-decoration: underline;} Heres the jquery: $("ul#menu_nav li").hover(function() { //Hover over event on list item $(this).css({ 'background' : '#1376c9'}); //Add background color and image on hovered list item $(this).find("span").show(); //Show the subnav } , function() { //on hover out... $(this).css({ 'background' : 'none'}); //Ditch the background $(this).find("span").hide(); //Hide the subnav });

  • Pass existing model into AJAX PartialViewResult

    - by Joe
    I’m using AJAX to asynchronously update a partial view and need to pass the existing model into the partial view. Controller Action public ActionResult Edit(int id) { var vM = new MyViewModel(); // vM is viewModel return View(vM); } Edit View @using (Html.BeginForm()) { @Html.ValidationSummary(true) ... <span id = "Ship"> @Html.Partial("AJAX_Views/_Ship")</span> _Ship Partial View @model MyProject.ViewModels.MyViewModel <table class="detailtable" style="min-width:398px"> <tr> <th style="padding-left:132px" colspan="2"> <span class="editor-label">Shipping&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Address</span> <span class="editor-label" style="padding-left:55px"> @Ajax.ActionLink("Delete", "SHIPDEL", new AjaxOptions { UpdateTargetId = "Ship", InsertionMode = InsertionMode.Replace, HttpMethod = "Get" })</span> <tr><th style="min-width:152px"><span class="editor-label">Street:</span></th> @Html.HiddenFor(m => m.CmpAdrsSh.Id) @Html.HiddenFor(m => m.CmpAdrsSh.CompPersonId) @Html.HiddenFor(m => m.CmpAdrsSh.IsShip) <td><span class="editor-field">@Html.EditorFor(m => m.CmpAdrsSh.Street) @Html.ValidationMessageFor(m => m.CmpAdrsSh.Street) </span></td></tr> <tr><th><span class="editor-label">City:</span></th> <td><span class="editor-field">@Html.EditorFor(m => m.CmpAdrsSh.City) @Html.ValidationMessageFor(m => m.CmpAdrsSh.City) </span></td></tr> <tr><th><span class="editor-label">State:</span></th> <td><span class="editor-field">@Html.DropDownList("CmpAdrsSh.State", (IEnumerable<SelectListItem>)ViewBag._State) @Html.ValidationMessageFor(m => m.CmpAdrsSh.State) </span></td></tr> <tr><th><span class="editor-label">Zip:</span></th> <td><span class="editor-field">@Html.EditorFor(m => m.CmpAdrsSh.Zip) @Html.ValidationMessageFor(m => m.CmpAdrsSh.Zip) </span></td></tr> _ShipDel Partial View @model MyProject.ViewModels.MyViewModel <table class="detailtable" style="min-width:398px"> <tr> <th style="padding-left:132px" colspan="2"> <span class="editor-label">Shipping&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Address</span> <span class="editor-label" style="padding-left:10px; color:red">Marked for Deletion.</span></th></tr> <tr><td>To not Delete Select Cancel below!</td></tr> @Html.HiddenFor(m => m.CmpAdrsSh.Street) @Html.HiddenFor(m => m.CmpAdrsSh.City) @Html.HiddenFor(m => m.CmpAdrsSh.State) @Html.HiddenFor(m => m.CmpAdrsSh.Zip) Controller PartialViewResult Action public PartialViewResult SHIPDEL() { return PartialView("AJAX_Views/_ShipDel"); } I tried adding this.ModelState to the Action but then the view will not render. I'm guessing I somehow have to pass the model to the SHIPDEL Action first. I couldn't find an @Ajax.ActionLink overload that would allow this. public PartialViewResult SHIPDEL() { return PartialView("AJAX_Views/_ShipDel", this.ModelState); } In the _ShipDel Partial View I need to expose the CmpAdrsSh properties so the model validates in the POST Action. The model is empty at this point. How do I pass the existing vM model into the _ShipDel partial view? Thank you,

  • Dynamically alter outter div as inner one gets bigger.

    - by Razor Storm
    I have two divs, one inside another. The outter one is called #wrapper, while the inner one is called #pad. Now #pad allows user input, and I have a javascript (jQuery) function that changes the content of #pad based on what the user input is. Sometimes, because of this function, #pad's content will cause the div to become more elongated than before. Now obviously I would wish for #wrapper to grow longer as well to accommodate this change in #pad's length. However, this does not occur. #wrapper { clear:both; padding-top:0.5em; /*padding-left:50px;*/ height: 100%; background-color: rgba(255,255,255,0.4); -moz-border-radius: 20px 20px 0px 0px; -webkit-border-radius: 20px 20px 0px 0px; border-radius: 20px 20px 0px 0px; } #pad { margin-top: 25px; -moz-border-radius: 5px; border: solid 1px #DDD; margin-left:25px; padding-left:25px; margin-right:25px; padding-right:25px; margin-bottom:2em; } This is the javascript function: function preview() { var id1=$("#input1").val(); var id2=$("#input2").val(); var id3=$("#input3").val(); var id4=$("#input4").val(); var id5=$("#input5").val(); if(id1!= null && id1!="") { if( $("#preview1").attr("src")!=id1) { $("#preview1").attr("src",id1); $("#preview1").fadeIn("slow"); } } else { $("#preview1").attr("src",""); $("#preview1").fadeOut("slow"); } if(id2!= null && id2!="") { if( $("#preview2").attr("src")!=id2) { $("#preview2").attr("src",id2); $("#preview2").fadeIn("slow"); } } else { $("#preview2").attr("src",""); $("#preview2").fadeOut("slow"); } if(id3!= null && id3!="") { if( $("#preview3").attr("src")!=id3) { $("#preview3").attr("src",id3); $("#preview3").fadeIn("slow"); } } else { $("#preview3").attr("src",""); $("#preview3").fadeOut("slow"); } if(id4!= null && id4!="") { if( $("#preview4").attr("src")!=id4) { $("#preview4").attr("src",id4); $("#preview4").fadeIn("slow"); } } else { $("#preview4").attr("src",""); $("#preview4").fadeOut("slow"); } if(id5!= null && id5!="") { if( $("#preview5").attr("src")!=id5) { $("#preview5").attr("src",id5); $("#preview5").fadeIn("slow"); } } else { $("#preview5").attr("src",""); $("#preview5").fadeOut("slow"); } setTimeout("preview()",1000); $("#wrapper").attr("height",$(document).attr("height")); } http://surveys.mylifeisberkeley.com/
