• 2010 outlook stationery

  I have just installed Microsoft 2010 I am using the 'Outlook 2010' for my email program. For the past few years I have used Outlook Express and used the program quite well However with the Outlook 2010 I have not been able to find 2 functions that I was able to do on Outlook Express 1) OE I could press stationary and it would insert a BIT Map for me , however when I do stationary in Outlook 2010 it no longer allows me to insert the Bit map. 2) OE I created a rule that allowed me to copy emails into another folder , however in 2010 it only allows me to move as a rule and not the initial copy. Please could you explain how I may be able to use the same function in 2010?

  I've got a saucy server with a lot of NICs and they end up with weird names like "rename19". I know interface names can be changed by modifying the /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules file. The first clue that something is wrong is that that file did not exist even though it's supposed to be created automatically. • apache htaccess rewrite rules make redirection loop

  Hi guys, Have a very strange problem with Apache .htaccess URL Rewriting and Redirection. Here's my setup: I have a zend application with a single point of entry (index.php) directly under my apache document root (call this the "public" folder). I also have all other public files (images, js, css, etc.) under the public folder. Here, I also have a wordpress blog under the "blog" folder. There's an empty test folder too The Problem When I go to mydomain.com/blog, I get redirected to http://www.theredpin.com/blog (correctly), then to http://www.theredpin.com/blog/ (just with an extra / at end), finally to http://theredpin.com/blog/ -- and we're back where we started. The loop continues. What I don't understand is why would wordpress try to remove the www? I'm guessing it's wordpress because my empty test folder acts just fine! PLEASE HELP. I"M REALLY DESPERATE :( Thank you very much Other things that happen: When I go to mydomain.com, i correctly get redirected to www.mydomain.com When I go to www.mydomain.com, i correctly stay where I am When I go to www.mydomain.com/test or mydomain.com/test, behaviour is correct. Setup So my .htaccess file does the following: If there's no www., then add it and do a 301 redirect. • Rewrite rules for subfolders

  This may seem like a silly question but I can't figure it out. let's say I have a public_html folder with various folders like: Albatross, Blackbirds, Crows and Faqs. I want to make it so that any traffic to Albatross/faqs.php, Blackbirds/faqs.php, Crows/faqs.php etc will see the file that is at faqs/faqs.php?bird=albatross or faqs/faqs.php?bird=crows or what have you. If I go into the Albatross folder's .htaccess file I can do this RewriteRule faqs.php$ /faqs/faqs.php?cat=albatross[QSA] Which works fine, but I want to put something in the top level .htacces that works for all of them, so tried: RewriteRule faqs.php$ /faqs/faqs.php?cat=albatross[QSA] RewriteRule /(.*)/faqs.php$ /faqs/faqs.php?cat=$1 [QSA] and even RewriteRule /albatross/faqs.php$ /faqs/faqs.php?cat=albatross [QSA] and various others but nothing seems to work, when I go to http://www.birdsandwhatnot.com/albatross/faqs.php I see the same file the same way it's always been. Does the presence of an .htaccess file in the subfolder conflict with the higher up .htaccess file? Am I missing something?

  Im trying to use this template for a webapp Im making (I really suck at css so I have to use templates). I have two questions with it... I deleted all of the content of the "#content" div and added my own content... the problem is that since its not as long as the original content the header comes up and is now on top of the sidebars....how can I make the header stay on the bottom of the page?? My second question is, what would be the easiest way to add sidebar subitems that slide-right on hover...?? Thanks in advance

• Best practice for defining CSS rules via JavaScript

  I'm loading a stylesheet that is only required when javascript is enabled. More to the point, it mustn't be present if JavaScript is disabled. I'm doing this as soon as possible (in the head) before any javascript libraries are loaded. (I'm loading all scripts as late as possible). The code for loading this stylesheet externally is simple, and looks like this: var el = document.createElement('link'); el.setAttribute('href','/css/noscript.css'); el.setAttribute('rel','stylesheet'); el.setAttribute('type','text/css'); document.documentElement.firstChild.appendChild(el); It's working fine, but all my CSS file contains at the moment is this: .noscript { display: none; } This doesn't really warrant loading a file, so I'm thinking of just defining the rule dynamically in JavaScript. What's best practice for this?. A quick scan of various techniques shows that it requires a fair bit of cross-browser hacking. P.S. pleeease don't post jQuery examples. This must be done with no libraries.

• Avoiding the Controller with Routing Rules in ASP.NET MVC

  I've created a website with ASP.NET MVC. I have a number of static pages that I am currently serving through a single controller called Home. This creates some rather ugly URLs. example.com/Home/About example.com/Home/ContactUs example.com/Home/Features You get the idea. I'd rather not have to create a controller for each one of these as the actions simply call the View with no model being passed in. Is there a way to write a routing rule that will remove the controller from the URL? I'd like it to look like: example.com/About example.com/ContactUs example.com/Features If not, how is this situation normally handled? I imagine I'm not the first person to run in to this.

  I'm using Beej's Guide to Networking and came across an aliasing issue. He proposes a function to return either the IPv4 or IPv6 address of a particular struct: 1 void *get_in_addr( struct sockaddr *sa ) 2 { 3 if (sa->sa_family == AF_INET) 4 return &(((struct sockaddr_in*)sa)->sin_addr); 5 else 6 return &(((struct sockaddr_in6*)sa)->sin6_addr); 7 } This causes GCC to spit out a strict-aliasing error for sa on line 3. As I understand it, it is because I call this function like so: struct sockaddr_storage their_addr; ... inet_ntop(their_addr.ss_family, get_in_addr((struct sockaddr *)&their_addr), connection_name, sizeof connection_name); I'm guessing the aliasing has to do with the fact that the their_addr variable is of type sockaddr_storage and another pointer of a differing type points to the same memory. Is the best way to get around this sticking sockaddr_storage, sockaddr_in, and sockaddr_in6 into a union? It seems like this should be well worn territory in networking, I just can't find any good examples with best practices. Also, if anyone can explain exactly where the aliasing issue takes place, I'd much appreciate it.

• Totally Sweet Horizontal Rules in LaTeX

  I have been trying to find a way to easily drop a nice horizontal rule into a LaTeX document. \hline just makes a line across the page. It would seem that some package must provide something that is maybe half a page wide, with little bedknobs on the ends or something to act as a nice section marker for paragraphs. Any ideas? Or am I boned, and need to come up with my own macro to create such a beast?

• Automate Testing on future only items business rules

  I currently have a business object with a validation business rule, which is it can only be created for the future, tomorrow onwards, and I cannot create new items for today. I have a process, which runs the non-future business objects through some steps.. Because I have to set things up today, and test tomorrow, and when it fails, I can only create a new object tomorrow and test the following day. Are there any easy ways to automate this process in any testing frameworks? I think our testers are using the visual studio 2010 test manager. How do you guys manage situations like this? Cheers

  I am using the following mod-rewrite in my .htaccess file: RewriteRule ^$ pages/ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ pages/$1 [L] The intention is to hide the subdirectory called /pages/ from displaying in the URL. So this: http://mysite.com/pages/home.html Will look like this: http://mysite.com/home.html It works but there are some unintended consequences. As a direct result of the .htaccess code I posted above, my 404 routing is no longer working at all. Anything that should trigger a 404 error page is instead generating a 500 Server Error. How to fix?

For me these are: Finish your course books early and read 4-5 times more material relative to your course work. Programming is the one of the fastest evolving professions. Follow the blogs on a daily basis for the latest updates, news, and technologies. Instead of relying on assignments and exams, do at least one extra, non-graded, small to medium-sized project for every programming course. Fight hard for internships or work placements even if they are unpaid, since 3 months of work 1 year at college. Practice everything, every possible and impossible way. Try doing every bit of your assignments project yourself; i.e. fight for every inch. Rely on documentation as the first source for help and samples, Google, and online forums as the last source. Participate often in online communities and forums to learn the best possible approach for every solution to your problem. (After doing your bit.) Make testing one of your habits as it is getting more important everyday in programming. Make writing one of your habits. Write something productive once or twice a week and publish it.

Don't get me wrong grammars are great for telling the speech recognition exactly what words / phrases to look out for, however what if I want it to recognise something i've not given it a heads up about? Or I want to parse a phrase which is half pre-determined command name and half random words? For example.. Scenario A - I say "Google [Oil Spill]" and I want it to open Google with search results for the term in brackets which could be anything. Scenario B - I say "Locate [Manchester]" and I want it to search for Manchester in Google Maps or anything else non pre-determined I want it to know that 'Google' and 'Locate' are commands and what comes after it are parameters (and could be anything). Question : Does anyone know how to mix the use of pre-determined grammars (words the speech recognition should recognise) and words not in its pre-determined grammar?   There is a web service running on tomcat on a server. It is built on Java Servlet. It is listening others to call itself on a SSL enabled http port. so its web service adreess looks like: https://172.29.12.12/axis/services/XYZClient?wsdl On the other hand I want to connect the web service above from a windows application which is built on .NET frame work. Finally, when I want to connect the web service from my computer; I get some specific erros; Firstly I get; Proxy authentication error; then I added some new line to my code; Dim cr As System.Net.NetworkCredential = New System.Net.NetworkCredential("xname", "xsurname", "xdomainname") Dim myProxy As New WebProxy("http://mar.xxxyyy.com", True) myProxy.Credentials = cr Secondly, after this modifications It says that bad request. I did not get over this error. Moreover I did try to connect the web server on the same computer. I copied my executable program to the computer where the web service runs. The error was like; The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for SSL/TLS secure channel PS: When I try to connect to web service by using Internet Explorer; I see firstly some warnings about accepting an unknown certificate and I click take me to web service an I get there clearly. • Xcode xcconfig file and build rules

  I have an Xcode project that contains many sub-projects. The main project file and all sub-projects have the same xcconfig file. Some of the sub-projects currently have a build rule set on them to use the Intel compiler for C++ files. I'm wondering if there is a way to move this build rule into the xcconfig file so that I can easily turn on or off the Intel compiler for C++ files by changing just the one xcconfig file instead of having to modify the build rule for each sub-project
