  • Why does my report recalculate totals when I scroll in Access '07?

    Whenever I make a report in Access '07 and include some sort of total (whether counting or summing values), when I'm viewing the preview and scroll, the total recalculate. This is really annoying as Access takes a while (several tenths of a second) to do this, and while it does that the totals go blank. I've looked for a solution online, but I can't find this issue described anywhere. How can I stop the totals from recalculating when I scroll? I'm hoping for a simple solution that would solve this for all reports, or perhaps a simple property tweak on each report. I don't want to have to add code for every single report! I should describe the report layouts I'm using - they contain rows of data all on one page, and at times I group the rows. The number of rows aren't major, maybe around 50 a time or so.

  • I'm using the jQuery .scroll() function, why can't I override its effects with another function?

    I'm using the jQuery .scroll() function to make a certain element fade to 0.2 opacity. Since there is no native "scrollstop" indicator, I decided to make the element fade back to 1.0 opacity on hover. However, it doesn't work. Here's my code: $(document).ready(function() { $(window).scroll(function() { $("#navlist").animate({ opacity: 0.2 }, 2000); }); $("#navlist").hover( function() { $(this).animate({ opacity: 1 }, 500); }, function() { $(this).animate({ opacity: 1 }, 500); // just to be safe? } ); }); When I scroll, the #navlist element fades, but when you hover over it nothing happens. But if you refresh the page when you're half way down, the element automatically fades as soon as you refresh, before I've scrolled, and if you try to hover to fade it back in, nothing happens. Any thoughts?

  • retrieve Scrollbar position with javascript

    I know how to do this in flash, but completely lost about regular html. I'm trying to detect the position of the browser scrollbar with Javascript to decide where abouts in the page the current view is. My guess is that I'd have to detect where the thumb on the track is, and then the height of the thumb as a percentage of the total height of the track. Am I over-complicating it, or does Javascript offer an easier solution than that? Any ideas code-wise. Thanks.

  • Need Java Swing equivalent of "scrollIntoView" from Browser DOM

    I have a JPanel with several levels of child components, also with a JScrollPane. I'm placing a focus listener on some of the child components to add some behavior to those components, but I would also like to have that component scroll into the JPanel's viewport when focus is gained. My question is, does anyone have a general purpose function to do this, similar to the browser DOM function "scrollIntoView"? I've tried muddling through this with various inputs to JComponent.scrollRectToVisible but I guess I haven't figured out the magic word. Thanks in advance.

  • JList with JScrollPane and prototype cell value wraps element names (replaces with dots instead of s

    I've got a Jlist inside a JScrollPane and I've set a prototype value so that it doesn't have to calculate the width for big lists, but just uses this default width. Now, the problem is that the Jlist is for some reason replacing the end of an element with dots (...) so that a horizontal scrollbar will never be shown. How do I disable with "wrapping"? So that long elements are not being replaced with dots if they are wider than the Jlist's width? I've reproduced the issue in a small example application.     I have a DataGridView, and I'm listening to its Scroll event. This gives me a ScrollEventArgs object whose Type member is supposed to tell me the type of scroll event that has occurred. On the MSDN documentation page it says I should be able to detect movement of the scroll box by listening for events with types ThumbPosition, ThumbTrack, First, Last and EndScroll. However, when I drag the scroll box, I only get events of type LargeDecrement and LargeIncrement. How do I get access to the ThumbPosition, ThumbTrack, First, Last and EndScroll events?

Two things I personally thought of are as follows: Impossible to tell someone where an item of interest is located (like, you probably won't say "324-th row, second column") Broken navigation when you return back to an infinitely scrolled page. What else can you think of? And what do you personally think of this approach in general. Would you use this in you projects?

    Here's the example: http://jsfiddle.net/sammy/RubNy/ Scroll down in the div container. Then click anywhere in the window to hide the element. Then click once more to show the element. You'll notice in Chrome/IE that the scroll is reset, but in Firefox, the scroll remains how you left it. Which is the standards behavior, Chrome/IE or Firefox?   • css absolute positioning hidden scrollbars ... with a twist

    I'm working on a website that targets 1024 X 768 as the minimum resolution. So, we're at about 970px wide. Design came back with an interesting layout that has a centered site with a banner that actually exceeds this width (1288px to be exact) that will look good for users with greater resolution, but look fine at 1024. So, to prevent scrollbars from showing up for those at 1024 I positioned the banner absolutely and used overflow-x: hidden on the body. This works just fine across our target browsers. Now, the client has come back and asked for scrollbars to be present for users on 800 X 600 (yes, this is not the target) so they can see a critical login button. How can this be accommodated for those 2% of their users without making radical changes? All I can think of is to detect their screen width and remove the overflow-x:hidden. You have to love when requirements change late in the build process!   • jQuery : how to determine that a div is scrolled down

    I have a div with defined height, and overflow:scroll;. Its content is too long so scrollbars appear. Now for the ichy part. Some of its inner HTML strangely appears all the time (to be precise, the footer of a table generated by the tableFilter plugin). I'd like to make this footer disappear when it is not needed (it actually appears out of the containing <div>'s border). I resolved to make it disappear but setting its z-index to -1000. But I want to make it appear when the containing <div> is totally scrolled down. How can I know the user has scrolled at the bottom ? Using the help from answers below, I used scrollTop attribute but the difference between scrollTop and innerHeight is the size of the scrollbar plus some unidentified delta. A scrollbar is 16 pixels high in most browsers under Windows, but I get a difference of 17 in Firefox and something like 20 in IE, where my <div> content's borders seems to be rendered bigger. A way (actually two ways...) to compute the scrollbar size has been given there.

  • Scroll to item in listview in Silverlight 3.

    I have a silverlight 3 app with a textbox on the main window and a childwindow that has a list of all the potential textbox values. When I open that childwindow I want it to scroll to the correct one in the list. I'm trying to do this with the code below...using the ScrollIntoView. It was not working at all until I add the UpdateLayerout(). However it does not seem to work all the time. At times it scrolls but not all the way to the item, it is a few items higher than it should be. The listbox is in an Accordion and the list items use a ItemTemplate\DataTemplate, not sure if that effects anything but thought I'd mention it. Any ideas what I'm missing in the code below? What I would like is to scroll the item to the top of the list ....any ideas how to that?     A view with a table gets pushed onto the screen and I want it to scroll to a certain row in the table before the screen actually displays. I use this code within the final viewcontroller. NSIndexPath *scrollToPath = [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:5 inSection:0]; [theTable scrollToRowAtIndexPath:scrollToPath atScrollPosition:UITableViewScrollPositionTop animated:NO]; When I put it in viewDiDAppear method, then it briefly flashes from the intial position of the table (at the top) to the row I want. I don't want it to show the initial position. If I put it in viewDidLoad or viewWillAppear then it crashes with a NSRangeException, presumably because the table isn't set up yet. How would I get it to scroll without showing the initial position?

  • Android: Scrollable (bitmap) screen

    I am currently implementing a view in Android that involves using a larger than the screen size bitmap as a background and then having drawables drawn ontop of this. This is so as to simulate a "map" that can be scrolled horizontally aswell as vertically. Which is done by using a canvas and then drawing to this the full "map" bitmap, then putting the other images on top as an overlay and then drawing only the viewable bit of this to screen. Overriding the touch events to redraw the screen on a scroll/fling. I'm sure this probably has a huge ammount of overhead (by creating a canvas of the full image whilst using(drawing) only a fifth of it) and could be done in a different way as to the explained, but I was just wondering what people would do in this situation, and perhaps examples?
