• Google Chrome - Disable Location auto-detection also for google sites

  I have read how to disable the location auto-detection here and also in Stackoverflow questions asked before: Google Chrome - Auto Detect Location and more... But it seems that it has no influence on the Google relates sites, e.g. Google translate, Google analytic, and even Google it self as a search engine. I have updated Google chrome to 21.0.1180.89 and then all my problems started, i am breaking my hand since i need to translate every word Google presents in their webpages of their products (or simply use their automatic translator). So i started to use Firefox again, but i really want to return back to Google, what can I do?

• Properly Hosting Multiple Sites on VDS

  I'm going to be moving about 7-10 websites (5-8 with Databases - MySQL) onto our new Virtual Private Server. I'm curious what the best way to host many sites on a single server is though. Do I create a directory for each site immediately within my root directory, and then point the domain names for each site to http://123.123.123.123/siteDirectory - or is there a more appropriate way to do this? I'm very interested in maintining control over how many concurent connections each site can have at any given time - would I be able to do that on the directory-level, or am I required to limit the concurrent-connections to the VPS itself?

• Ask a DNS server what sites it hosts - and how to possibly prevent misuse

  I've got a server which I host my company website as well as some of my clients. I noticed a domain which I created, but never used, was being attacked by a poke and hope hacker. I imagine that the hacker collected the domain from either hitting my DNS server and requesting what domains are hosted. So, in the interest of prevention and better server management, how would I ask my own DNS server (Linux CentOS 4) what sites are being hosted on it? Also, is there a way to prevent these types of attacks by hiding this information? I would assume that DNS servers would need to keep some information public, but I'm not sure if there is something that most hosts do to help prevent these bandwidth wasting poke and hope attacks. • Unable to connect to sites using IIS7 Manager

  I'm a developer who has been assigned the task of managing and configuring a new IIS7 instance on a remote server. My domain account has been added as to the local Administrators group on the box, but IIS7 has been configured to accept connections only from accounts with Windows credentials. I've added my domain account to the IIS Manager Permissions for one of my sites, but I'm still unable to connect to either that site, the IIS instance or the server in general from my local machine. There's obviously a missing element to the configuration of this setup but I don't know where to start looking. The event logs on the IIS box show audit failures for my account when trying to connect remote via the IIS7 Manager tool on my local machine. Suggestions gratefully received.

• Adobe Coldfusion Railo OpenBD Apache Tomcat Multiple Sites

  Here's what I am trying to do, unless I am crazy: I am trying to use Tomcat with the multiple workers, so far I got OpenBD working, but having trouble with Railo, and will be tackling Adobe after. each engine deployed as a war separated by different workers I wanted to keep both the sites and engines inside my sites directory I have to remap the symlink for the WEB-INF when I switch engines = have not found a way around this my thought is to have everything separated into modules and I want to be able to execute both cfm and php code in a single site.  Ideally, it would be amazing if there would be a way to not have to remap the symlink as well. thoughts? can this be done? • Rackspace Cloud Sites: Compute Cycles exploding. Very expensive

  Since last week my compute cycles (CC) went through the roof (Rackspace Cloud Sites). Normally I stay under the 10,000 cycles per month . Now this month I already have more than 75,000 compute cycles. I don't have more visitors and I did not change anything in the code. I looked in the raw log files, that didn't help either... This explosion of CC already costs me more than 750 USD right now. And still counting. Anyone know what to do? I have contacted Rackspace last week. But still no solution/answer.... Looks like Rackspace is liking the money! Help! Thanks.

I have installed SharePoint 2010 Foundation on Server2 (Server 2008) with databases on DBServer2 (SQL 2008 R2). SP 2010 Foundation is up and running ok and it already has one newly created Web Application. Now my goal is to copy all sites from Server1/DBServer1 to Server2/DBServer2 (and eventually retire Server1/DBServer1). Could you please help me with a step-by-step list on how to accomplish this? I have a site called testsite.co.za, now in the index.php i want to include the include.php file, the include.php is not in the root of testsite.co.za, Now i created another folder includes in the web root directory which contains include.php my code looks as follows in testsite.co.za/index.php require_once '../includes/include.php'; if i run testsite.co.za it can't detect include.php. Is there a certain server setting I need to change in order to include this file? • Firefox cannot recognize certificates for well knows sites

  When trying to connect to well known sites, for instance hotmail.com Firefox shows that This Connection in Untrusted. In the OptionsAdvancedCertificates it's configured to select one matching certificate automatically. Why Firefox does not trust current connection? Can it be Man-in-the-middle attack or it's something like broken certificate storage on my computer? UPDATE UPDATE2 Solved: the problem is Antivirus Web Access protection. It interferes with HTTPS connection. Similar to Man-in-the-middle? Why ESET cannot do it correctly?

• Google Chrome doesn't stay logged in to Google sites when using pinned tabs

  Despite checking "stay logged in" or the like on Gmail or Docs, Chrome refuses to do so when I close and re-open it with Google sites pinned. If they're not pinned, it works fine. The "Clear cookies and other site and plug-in data when I close my browser" checkbox in the settings is not checked, and I don't have any cookie exceptions. All settings are defaults. Nor is the incognito mode being used. This occurs on all my computers using Chrome. I have deleted my cookies file (%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Cookies) with no effect (other than losing the logins that ordinarly work fine). Of note is that when I relaunch Chrome with Gmail pinned and it asks me to log in, doing so once will fail (does nothing; no errors), then it will work on the second attempt. If I refresh the window before doing so, it will work on the first attempt.

• how to figure out why sites on my server aren't loading

  I seem to randomly receive "page cannot load, cannot connect to server" errors for sites on one of my servers. when this happens, it seems to only happen on certain IPs or IP ranges at a time. I say this because while I'll get the error from my home laptop I'll be able to access the site fine from my work computer or from an offsite VPS. DNS records should already be fully propagated as these records were updated months ago. I have no idea how to diagnose what's going on. Is there a tool in cpanel or outside on the web that can help me figure out what's going on?

• Method to control multiple sites using same cookie?

  Is it possible for two different web pages to use the same cookie? For example, some news sites now have buttons on the bottom, where if you are logged into facebook, you can just click the button to "like" the article. Is this a case of a 3rd party website using facebook's cookie to know which account you are, and if so, is there a way I can control it? I'm not sure how the new "like" system works, so maybe the button part isn't actually on the news site, but hosted on facebooks servers or something, so it's really facebook itself accessing its own cookie. If that's the case, is there a way I can choose when a site accesses its own cookie? Thanks for any help!

  I'm hosting multiple sites from one server where each site has it's own user and www directory in their home dir. Currently our web server runs as user nobody(99). We're noticing that to run several popular scripts and engines, they require write access to their own files. As the home directory is owned by the user, not nobody(99), what is the best policy or change in hosting configuration that would: ...make it so that all the various engines and platforms work? ...still allow us to work with files and edit them without having to diddle with permissions as root? • Warning popups that direct to 3rd party sites

  Lately, I've been getting warning popups on my browser (latest version of Chromium) that notify me that my Java version of current browser is outdated and needs to be updated. What's alarming to me is that it sends me to some sites I've never heard of like Malest.com. When I block a site, it redirects me to a different one. I don't know how to track what's causing these alerts. I ran Microsoft Security Essential and it found nothing. Any suggestions on what to do to nail down this irritating problem?

• Changing Launchpad username, and How to know what sites will be affected?

  I am setting up my developer profile on Launchpad, and would like to change my username so it would be same as other sites I use, as well as better reflect me as a person. (that's a much more important thing than it sounds) I want to do this now while I can, because as I understand it, once I set up a PPA it will be impossible to change it due to the username being locked into the PPA URL's to prevent breakages and other problems. But when trying to change my username, it warned me with this message. "Changing your name will change your public OpenID identifier. This means that you might be locked out of certain sites where you used it, or that somebody could create a new profile with the same name and log in as you on these third-party sites." How can I find out which sites will be locked out, and how to still change the username while preventing problems with other sites? Sorry if this is actually a question for Launchpad itself. But I don't know where to post questions like this on the Launchpad site. Edit I understand that it is an issue with OpenID. But how am I to know what sites will be affected? And how do i fix the problems this will cause? Can't I just reset the password (and as a side affect, re-establish the connection with the new username) using my email address?

  I found that you can't read from some sites using Python's urllib2(or urllib). An example... urllib2.urlopen("http://www.dafont.com/").read() # Returns '' These sites works when you visit the site. I can even scrap them using PHP(didn't try other languages). I have seen other sites with the same issue - but can't remember the URL at the moment. My questions are...   Here is my problem - I have a lot of users using different browsers accessing many internal web sites using https. I can create my own Certificate Authority, than create a certificate for each server and after that have all the users import it. Obviously, it cannot work in reality - there are too many users and too many sites, and some sites will be added in the future. I'm looking for a way to automate this. Is there a way to create a certificate so that all major browsers (IE, FF, Opera, Chrome and Safari) would trust it for all servers ? If so, what is the best way to install it automatically in all major browsers ?

• Consolidating data in SharePoint from different sites based on variable site naming

  Hi, am working on a project where I want to pull data from different lists in SharePoint and have these data imported into a single list. The list has the same attribute everywhere; it is located in different sites. I have a list which contains all the site names and URL to those sites. The idea is to read from this list all the site names and then go to each one of those sites and try and pull the information from the list under that particular site, in synchronies matter. • Oracle Social Network -The Social Glue for Enterprise Applications

  by Peter Reiser  - Social Business Evangelist, Oracle WebCenter  Tom Petrocelli of Enterprise Strategy Group published a report recently, “Oracle Social Network: The Social Glue for Enterprise Applications”, on Oracle Social Network (OSN) and how traditional social products create social silos whereas OSN is the “social glue” for enterprise applications.  This report supports the point of Oracle’s Social Business Strategy to seamless integrate social capabilities into the main business processes. Quote from report: “Oracle has adopted the correct approach to creating a social layer and socially enabled applications.   The Defense Manpower Data Center milConnect website recently won the 2012 Excellence.gov Award for Excellence in the Workforce. Defense Manpower Data Center milConnect is a centralized, online resource that provides military service members (active and retired) and their families (over 42 million in total) quick access to their profile, health care enrollments, benefits, and other military-related topics. An easy to use, safe and secure website, milConnect also provides service members with convenient access their personnel and service-related information. The self-service website allow users to quickly and easily find and, where applicable, update their information in the Defense Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) and milConnect transmits information to and from one reliable source safely and securely.  The Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) maintains the largest, most comprehensive central repository of personnel, manpower, casualty, pay, entitlement, personnel security, person identity and attributes, survey, testing, training, and financial data in the Department of Defense (DoD).  This is one of the largest systems of record in the world. milConnect had the challenge of modernizing the user experience for over 42 million users. With records in over 22 applications and 25 interfaces in hundreds of existing systems, milConnect needed to reduce the complexity of multiple authentication sources as well as consolidating access to existing systems with sensitive information. It accomplished this using a service-orientated architecture, enterprise security and access and identity management for self-service access on a massive scale.
