  • ASP.NET AJAX Problem

    - by Rich Andrews
    I've updated some code to use the Ajax Control toolkit 0911 beta and for some reason code that dynamically added collapsable panel extenders in the code behind now causes the following error in the client side jscript... Microsoft JScript runtime error: Sys.ArgumentException: Value must not be null for Controls and Behaviors. Parameter name: element in... $create = Sys.Component.create = function Sys$Component$create(type, properties, events, references, element) { /// <summary locid="M:J#Sys.Component.create" /> /// <param name="type" type="Type"></param> /// <param name="properties" optional="true" mayBeNull="true"></param> /// <param name="events" optional="true" mayBeNull="true"></param> /// <param name="references" optional="true" mayBeNull="true"></param> /// <param name="element" domElement="true" optional="true" mayBeNull="true"></param> /// <returns type="Object"></returns> var e = Function._validateParams(arguments, [ {name: "type", type: Type}, {name: "properties", mayBeNull: true, optional: true}, {name: "events", mayBeNull: true, optional: true}, {name: "references", mayBeNull: true, optional: true}, {name: "element", mayBeNull: true, domElement: true, optional: true} ]); if (e) throw e; if (type.inheritsFrom(Sys.UI.Behavior) || type.inheritsFrom(Sys.UI.Control)) { if (!element) throw Error.argument('element', Sys.Res.createNoDom); } I accept that this is only a beta but I'm unable to either find a work around or even understand the reason why this pretty simple code no longer works. Code private Panel GetReportPanel(DataRow dr, ReportParameter[] Params) { Panel pnlReport = new Panel(); pnlReport.ID = Uri.EscapeDataString(dr["ReportName"].ToString()) + "_MainReportContainer"; //Report Title Section var pnlReportTitle = new Panel(); pnlReportTitle.CssClass = "ReportSectionTitle"; var tblReportTitle = new Table(); var trowReportTitle = new TableRow(); var tcellReportTitle = new TableCell(); var imgReportTitleExpand = new Image(); imgReportTitleExpand.ID = Uri.EscapeDataString("img" + dr["ReportName"].ToString() + "DataExpand"); tcellReportTitle.Controls.Add(imgReportTitleExpand); trowReportTitle.Controls.Add(tcellReportTitle); tcellReportTitle = new TableCell(); var lblReportTitle = new Label(); lblReportTitle.ID = Uri.EscapeDataString("lnk" + dr["ReportName"].ToString()); lblReportTitle.Text = "Functional " + dr["ReportName"].ToString(); tcellReportTitle.Controls.Add(lblReportTitle); trowReportTitle.Controls.Add(tcellReportTitle); tblReportTitle.Controls.Add(trowReportTitle); pnlReportTitle.Controls.Add(tblReportTitle); pnlReport.Controls.Add(pnlReportTitle); //Report Section var pnlReportSection = new Panel(); pnlReportSection.ID = Uri.EscapeDataString("pnlReportSection" + dr["ReportName"].ToString()); pnlReportSection.CssClass = "ReportSection"; pnlReportSection.ScrollBars = ScrollBars.None; var pnlInnerReportSection = new Panel(); pnlInnerReportSection.CssClass = "ReportSection"; var rptControl = new ReportViewer(); rptControl.ID = "rpt" + dr["ReportName"].ToString().Replace(' ', '_'); rptControl.ProcessingMode = ProcessingMode.Remote; rptControl.Width = new Unit("100%"); rptControl.ShowDocumentMapButton = false; rptControl.ShowParameterPrompts = false; rptControl.Visible = true; rptControl.Height = new Unit("500px"); rptControl.AsyncRendering = (bool)dr["ASyncRenderingEnabled"]; rptControl.ServerReport.ReportPath = dr["SSRSReportPath"].ToString(); rptControl.ServerReport.ReportServerUrl = new Uri("http://horoap336/reportserver"); rptControl.ServerReport.SetParameters(Params); pnlInnerReportSection.Controls.Add(rptControl); pnlReportSection.Controls.Add(pnlInnerReportSection); pnlReport.Controls.Add(pnlReportSection); //Collapsable Panel Extender var Extender = new AjaxControlToolkit.CollapsiblePanelExtender(); Extender.TargetControlID = pnlReportSection.ID; Extender.ID = Uri.EscapeDataString(dr["ReportName"].ToString()) + "_Extender"; Extender.CollapsedSize = 0; Extender.Collapsed = true; Extender.ExpandControlID = lblReportTitle.ID; Extender.CollapseControlID = lblReportTitle.ID; Extender.AutoCollapse = false; Extender.AutoExpand = false; Extender.ScrollContents = false; Extender.TextLabelID = lblReportTitle.ID; Extender.CollapsedText = "Functional " + dr["ReportName"].ToString() + " (Click To Show Details...)"; Extender.ExpandedText = "Functional " + dr["ReportName"].ToString() + " (Click To Hide Details...)"; Extender.ImageControlID = imgReportTitleExpand.ID; Extender.ExpandedImage = "~/images/collapse.jpg"; Extender.CollapsedImage = "~/images/expand.jpg"; Extender.ExpandDirection = AjaxControlToolkit.CollapsiblePanelExpandDirection.Vertical; pnlReport.Controls.Add(Extender); return pnlReport; } This panel is then added to a panel in the aspx file using... pnlContainer.Controls.Add(GetReportPanel(dr,Params)); Aspx file... <%@ Page Title="Operations MI Dashboard - Functional Reporting" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/MasterPage.master" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="FunctionalReport.aspx.cs" Inherits="TelephonyReport" %> <%@ Register Assembly="Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms, Version=9.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a" Namespace="Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms" TagPrefix="rsweb" %> <asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="head" Runat="Server"> </asp:Content> <asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="ContentPlaceHolder1" Runat="Server"> <asp:Panel ID="pnlContainer" runat="server"> </asp:Panel> </asp:Content> So, my questions are: Is there a problem with my code that is only evident in the later version of the toolkit? Does anyone know of a workaround that I can try? Can anyone explain why this problem happens only in the latest version?

  • ASP.NET NVC - Add XHTML into validation error messages

    - by Neil
Hi, Just starting with ASP.Net MVC and have hit a bit of a snag regarding validation messages. I've a custom validation attribute assigned to my class validate several properties on my model. When this validation fails, we'd like the error message to contain XHTML mark-up, including a link to help page, (this was done in the original WebForms project as a ASP:Panel). At the moment the XHTML tags such as "< a ", in the ErrorMessage are being rendered to the screen. Is there any way to get the ValidationSummary to render the XHTML markup correctly? Or is there a better way to handle this kind of validation? Thanks

  • TinyMCE with AJAX (Update Panel) never has a value.

    - by sah302
I wanted to use a Rich Text Editor for a text area inside an update panel. I found this post: http://www.queness.com/post/212/10-jquery-and-non-jquery-javascript-rich-text-editors via this question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1207382/need-asp-net-mvc-rich-text-editor Decided to go with TinyMCE as I used it before in non AJAX situations, and it says in that list it is AJAX compatible. Alright I do the good ol' tinyMCE.init({ //settings here }); Test it out and it disappears after doing a update panel update. I figure out from a question on here that it should be in the page_load function so it gets run even on async postbacks. Alright do that and the panel stays. However, upon trying to submit the value from my textarea, the text of it always comes back as empty because my form validator always says "You must enter a description" even when I enter text into it. This happens the first time the page loads and after async postbacks have been done to the page. Alright I find this http://www.dallasjclark.com/using-tinymce-with-ajax/ and http://stackoverflow.com/questions/699615/cant-post-twice-from-the-same-ajax-tinymce-textarea. I try to add this code into my page load function right after the tinyMCE.init. Doing this breaks all my jquery being called also in the page_load after it, and it still has the same problem. I am still pretty beginner to client side scripting stuff, so maybe I need to put the code in a different spot than page_load? Not sure the posts I linked weren't very clue on where to put that code. My Javascript: <script type="text/javascript"> var redirectUrl = '<%= redirectUrl %>'; function pageLoad() { tinyMCE.init({ mode: "exact", elements: "ctl00_mainContent_tbDescription", theme: "advanced", plugins: "table, advhr, advimage, iespell, insertdatetime, preview, searchreplace, print, contextmenu, paste, fullscreen", theme_advanced_buttons1_add_before: "preview, separator", theme_advanced_buttons1: "bold, italic, underline, separator, justifyleft, justifycenter, justifyright, justifyfull, bullist, numlist, undo, redo, link, unlink, separator, styleselect, formatselect", theme_advanced_buttons2: "cut, copy, paste, pastetext, pasteword, separator, removeformat, cleanup, charmap, search, replace, separator, iespell, code, fullscreen", theme_advanced_buttons2_add_before: "", theme_advanced_buttons3: "", theme_advanced_toolbar_location: "top", theme_advanced_toolbar_align: "left", extended_valid_elements: "a[name|href|target|title|onclick],img[class|src|border=0|alt|title|hspace|vspace|width|height|align|onmouseover|onmouseout|name],hr[class|width|size|noshade],font[face|size|color|style],span[class|align|style]", paste_auto_cleanup_on_paste: true, paste_convert_headers_to_strong: true, button_tile_map: true }); tinyMCE.triggerSave(false, true); tiny_mce_editor = tinyMCE.get('ctl00_mainContent_tbDescription'); var newData = tiny_mce_editor.getContent(); tinyMCE.execCommand('mceRemoveControl', false, 'your_textarea_name'); //QJqueryUI dialog stuff }</script> Now my current code doesn't have the tinyMCE.execCommand("mceAddControl",true,'content'); which that one question indicated should also be added. I did try adding it but, again, wasn't sure where to put it and just putting it in the page_load seemed to have no effect. Textbox control: <asp:TextBox ID="tbDescription" runat="server" TextMode="MultiLine" Width="500px" Height="175px"></asp:TextBox><br /> How can I get these values so that the code behind can actually get what is typed in the textarea and my validator won't come up as saying it's empty? Even after async postbacks, since I have multiple buttons on the form that update it prior to actual submission. Thanks! Edit: For further clarification I have form validation on the back-end like so: If tbDescription.Text = "" Or tbDescription.Text Is Nothing Then lblDescriptionError.Text = "You must enter a description." isError = True Else lblDescriptionError.Text = "" End If And this error will always cause the error message to be dispalyed. Edit: Alright I am getting desperate here, I have spent hours on this. I finally found what I thought to be a winner on experts exchange which states the following (there was a part about encoding the value in xml, but I skipped that): For anyone who wants to use tinyMCE with AJAX.Net: Append begin/end handlers to the AJAX Request object. These will remove the tinyMCE control before sending the data (begin), and it will recreate the tinyMCE control (end): Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance().add_beginRequest(function(sender, args) { var edID = "<%=this.ClientID%>_rte_tmce"; // the id of your textbox/textarea. var ed = tinyMCE.getInstanceById(edID); if (ed) { tinyMCE.execCommand('mceFocus', false, edID); tinyMCE.execCommand('mceRemoveControl', false, edID); } }); Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance().add_endRequest(function(sender, args) { var edID = "<%=this.ClientID%>_rte_tmce"; var ed = tinyMCE.getInstanceById(edID); if (ed) { tinyMCE.execCommand('mceAddControl', false, edID); } }); When the user changes/blurs from the tinyMCE control, we want to ensure that the textarea/textbox gets updated properly: ed.onChange.add(function(ed, l) { tinyMCE.triggerSave(true, true); }); Now I have tried this code putting it in its own script tag, putting the begin and end requests into their own script tags and putting the ed.onChange in the page_load, putting everything in the page_load, and putting all 3 in it's own script tag. In all cases it never worked, and even sometimes broke the jquery that is also in my page_load... (and yes I changed the above code to fit my page) Can anyone get this to work or offer a solution?

  • ASP.NET MVC, Spring.NET, NHibernate initial setup/example/tutorial.

    - by Bubba88
Hello! Have you been doing some ASP.NET MVC developement involving Spring.NET and NHibernate both? I would like to see an informative example of such setup, so I could build my own project off that. I tried googling, found some pretty things like S#arp Architecture, an article about regular ASP.NET (WebForms) integrated with the frameworks and so on. Still, I'm missing a good tutorial on ASP.NET MVC & the subj. P.S.: I do know how Spring and Hibernate works, I just need to plug them into an MVC application. Don't want to use S#arp Architecture by now. P.P.S: I'll update the links later, including this one:

  • ASP.NET MVC: ensure user always has a session variable set

    - by pcampbell
Consider an ASP.NET MVC application that requires a session variable be set. It's used throughout the app. It'll be set by either reading a hashed value on the browser cookie, or after having the user login. In the WebForms + Master Page model, I'd check the Page_Load() of the master page. Perhaps not the ultimate event, but it was an easy one to find. How would you check and enforce the existance of a session variable in ASP.NET MVC? Consider that this question might not involve user login details, but some other piece of data (first visit time, perhaps).

  • Spark VS 2010 intellisense

    - by mare
I was thinking about switching one of my projects (and after that subsequently other projects too) to Spark View Engine but after todays research I ran into problem of a lack of Intellisense for Visual studio 2010. Not only that but it seems that the project is not maintained regularly. So I'm left with a feeling that I should not choose Spark at this time yet. However, apparently NHaml has the same "issues" too. I know it is discussed in more detail here http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1451319/asp-net-mvc-view-engine-comparison but I would still like you thoughts on what to choose or just stay with WebForms view engine for now?

  • Setting a WebControls TabIndex based on the ControlId of another control

    - by Daniel Ballinger
I have an ASP.NET Webforms site that is regularly having features added. The majority of time a new WebControl is added to the page and I need to increment the TabIndex to all subsequent controls on the page. I'd prefer a more robust solution than choosing an arbitrary gap between the initial assigned tab indexes. Setting the tab indexes using the designer tab order functionality is one option but I'd prefer to stay in the source view. Ideally, if I had three check boxes I'd like to be able to define the tabindex based off the previous controls tabindex. Then I'd only need to insert the new control and change one existing control. <asp:CheckBox ID="checkBoxA" runat="server" TabIndex="0"/> <asp:CheckBox ID="checkBoxB" runat="server" TabIndexAfterControlId="checkBoxA"/> <asp:CheckBox ID="checkBoxC" runat="server" TabIndexAfterControlId="checkBoxB"/> My first thought was to extend System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebControl with a new property, but extension properties aren't supported.

  • How can I resolve exception: Error executing child request for ChartImg.axd

    - by macleojw
I'm using the Chart Controls for Mircosoft .NET Framerwork. Most of the time they work perfectly. However, if I leave a page for longer than 20-30 mins and then try to refresh the page, I get an error saying: Error executing child request for ChartImg.axd. Exception Details: System.Web.HttpException: Error executing child request for ChartImg.axd. If I update the page using an AJAX update panel I get the following error: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: Error executing child request for ChartImg.axd It seems that the chart handler stops after a period of inactivity. Most of the webpages I've looked at for this error are for situations when this error is displayed all the time. In my case it is only displayed after a period of inactivity. Can someone provide a better explanation of what is happening and suggest a solution?

  • jQuery post to another controller

    - by griegs
If I have a Controller called "HomeController" and I'm on the Index page of that controller, how can I do a jQuery Ajax post to another controller. I tried the below, $.post("/DetailedQuote/jQueryGetDetailedQuote", { productCode: "LPJ" }, function(newHTML) { alert(88); }); I have a DetailedQuoteController. I have also tried; post("DetailedQuote/ post("DetailedQuote.aspx/ post("/DetailedQuote.aspx/ post("/DetailedQuoteController/ post("DetailedQuoteController/ post("DetailedQuoteController.aspx/ post("/DetailedQuoteController.aspx/ And still no joy. I should also mention that this is running a Hybrid WebForms and MVC site on IIS 6.

  • Pass data to Master Page with ASP.NET MVC

    - by Brian David Berman
I have a hybrid ASP.NET WebForms/MVC project. In my Master Page, I have a "menu" User Control and a "footer" User Control. Anyways. I need to pass some data (2 strings) to my "menu" User Control on my Master Page (to select the current tab in my menu navigation, etc.) My views are strongly-typed to my data model. How can I push data from my controller to my menu or at least allow my master page to access some data pre-defined in my controller? Note: I understand this violates pure ASP.NET MVC, but like I said, it is a hybrid project. The main purpose of my introduction to ASP.NET MVC into my project was to have more control over my UI for certain situations only.

  • How can I use the SSRS ReportViewer from VS 2008 in a VS2010 project?

    - by Adrian Grigore
Hi, I'm working on an ASP.NET MVC 2 / .NET 3.5 project which includes SSRS 2008 reports. After migrating to VS 2010 RC, the new web forms report viewer has been giving so much trouble that I'd like to use the old report viewer from VS 2008 again. Now I'm just wondering what would be the easiest way to do that. The report viewer is embedded in a Webforms ASPX file which is loaded in an IFrame by the the MVC view. Report parameters are currently stored as session variables, and for security reasons I would prefer not to change that for HTTP POST or GET parameters. So I can't just put the report viewer in a separate application and build that with VS2008. Moving the entire project back to VS 2008 is not an option. So, what's the easiest way for me to use the VS 2008 ReportViewer in VS 2010? Is there way to grab an assembly from VS 2008 and use that in my project? Thanks, Adrian

  • Microsoft Reporting DLL's in medium trust environment

    - by Linda
My host Rackspace Cloud Sites have a modified Medium Trust environment. One of our legacy applications which we are moving onto the server uses the following DLL's: Microsoft.ReportViewer.Common.dll Microsoft.ReportViewer.ProcessingObjectModel.dll Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms.dll Microsoft.ReportViewer.WinForms.dll My understanding is that these DLL's work in a medium trust environment if deployed to the GAC. Sadly Rackspace will not do this for me. What options do I have apart from moving to a different plan? Deploying the DLL's to the bin does not work as the permissions are incorrect. Could I decompile the DLL's and make them work in a medium trust environment?

  • ASP.NET Grid AjaxPanel Download Issue

    - by Mahesh
Hi, I have a telerik grid which is performing operations like searching, sorting, filtering etc. To make customers happy, we put this control in an ajax panel for seamless experience. Now, we added a new functionality to the grid where the customer can download the entire row information as a csv file. As the response is a file, ajax panel is trying to parse the output and throwing the following exception: Microsoft JScript runtime error: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException: The message received from the server could not be parsed. Common causes for this error are when the response is modified by calls to Response.Write(), response filters, HttpModules, or server trace is enabled. Details: Error parsing near '?'. Could you please help me in having both functionalities( Ajax and Download) in place without any error?? Thanks, Mahesh

  • Implementing google dashboard type interface in asp.net

    - by Sam_Cogan
I'm looking at implementing a Google IG type dashboard in a .net app. There are a number of options I've found to do this, and i'm trying to establish what is going to be the best to use, in terms of speed, versatility etc. So far the options I am looking at are either to use asp.net webparts and .net Ajax, this would make it quicker to build, but I'm concerned this is going to make the application bulky and slow, or using JQuery, and either .net MVC or Webforms, to custom build an interface. Does anyone have any thoughts on what the best option may be, or any options I may have missed? All I want to do here is to allow users to customise a dashboard with a number of components (which will be user controls). I do also have access to Telerik controls, but I'm not sure if they would be any use here.

  • Detect Browser Refresh vs. Form Submit in ASP.Net MVC 2

    - by Eric J.
I have an ASP.Net questionnaire application that resubmits data to the same page, showing a different question each time. There are BACK and NEXT buttons to navigate between questions. I would like to detect when the form is submitted due to a browser refresh vs. one of the buttons being pressed. I came across a WebForms approach but don't know how to apply those principals in an MVC 2 application since page events aren't available (as far as I know... I'm pretty new to Microsoft's MVC model). How would one apply that principle to MVC 2? Is there a better way to detect refresh?

  • WebBrowser control not submitting form, IE 7 works

    - by Joel Cunningham
We are using a WebBrowser control in our win forms application which is running in terminal services. IE 7 is the browser that is installed for the session. We are using WebForms to generate the web pages. If we try and submit a web page in the WebBrowser control it does not work. The submit button does not push down. If we try and submit a web page in IE 7 that is installed on the same machine it works as expected. This is only an issue for one person. The WebBrowser control is working for other users. Any thoughts on how I can debug why the submit button is not submitting for the WebBrowser control? Thanks in advance.

  • Error using ASP.NET 3.5 Chart control within a Repeater control

    - by tuseau
Hi, I'm getting the error "Microsoft JScript runtime error: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: Error executing child request for ChartImg.axd" at runtime from my Chart control. I have read one solution to this error message as documented here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/MSWinWebChart/thread/1dc4b352-c9a5-49dc-8f35-9b176509faa1/ but this does not solve my problem. I have the Chart within a Repeater control, which is within an ajax UpdatePanel. When I take the chart out of the Repeater (but leave it in the UpdatePanel), it works. So I'm thinking it is to do with the Repeater. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance.

  • ASP.Net MVC ReturnUrl Practice

    - by Terry
I have a question about the returnUrl querystring parameter that is appended by ASP.Net when attempted to hit a page that requires authentication. In looking at Microsoft NerdDinner Sample's LogOn action (along with every other 'sample authentication code' I see on the 'net), it just has the ReturnUrl parameter declared in the action's signature and uses it directly in a Redirect() call. However, back in the WebForms days and using Membership Controls, we use to use the FormsAuthentication.GetReturnUrl() call. Besides returning the 'default url' if no url was specified in the querystring, it also does a few security checks (Cross App Redirect and 'IsDangerousUrl()'). Are those no longer a concern or are all the sample 'log on' actions I'm seeing all over the 'net just ignoring those issues?

  • Providing or Filtering assemblies when registering areas for an ASP.NET MVC 2.0 application

    - by HackedByChinese
I have a large application that currently exists as a hybrid of WebForms and MVC 2.0. Startup of my application is dreadful, and the culprit is primarily because of the AreaRegistration.RegisterAllAreas call. More specifically, that it is using the System.Web. Compilation.BuildManager.GetReferencedAssemblies to enumerate all types in assemblies directly referenced by the application and test them to see if they derive from AreaRegistration. Unfortunately, I have a number of third-party assemblies that happen to be quite extensive, so this initial load can be pretty bad. I'd have much better results if I could tell it which assemblies to look for AreaRegistrations, or even register areas manually for the time being. I can gather up all the internals of AreaRegistration to create and invoke the registration, but I'm just curious if others have had and worked around this issue.

  • Umbraco or ASP.NET MVC

    - by StupidBoy
I'm about to create a site that will act as public front site of company that sells furniture, but after user log in, he'll see much more options. Internal news, files to download, customized pricings, newsletters, etc. - stuff for wholesale clients. I want to make it quickly and maintain/extend it easily. I'm asp.net developer and while I could write it in python, php, whatever else (I know these too), I still prefer asp.net. I was thinking about umbraco, since it gives a real productivity boost and that I familiar with it ( and extending it). I've had a short romance with ASP.NET MVC, so I know what it's all about, but I would still spend some time learning it (but what a fun!). Of course, there's also webforms, but that's my last choice here. Last but not least to mention is the SEO. The question is, have anyone of you had similiar dilemma and what was your final choice?

  • How do build a composite or template control in ASP.Net MVC, or the equivelant?

    - by Jason Jackson
In our current ASP.Net Webforms application we have several composite/template server controls that only exist for a common look and feel. For example, we have a panel control that has a title, a place for buttons related to the contents of the panel, and of course the contents. How is this best accomplished in MVC? RenderPartial doesn't get done what I need here. Should I still be using the same controls, but just on a view page? These controls don't really do anything on postback, they are only there for a common look and feel.

  • .NET and 64-bit application

    - by user54064
I want to make existing .NET applications (WinForms and WebForms) run on 64-bit machines, optimized to take advantage of more memory available on 64-bit machines. What do I need to do to the applications to take advantage of the memory? Do I just select the target CPU as 64-bit? What is the advantage of selecting the target versus just compiling the app for All CPUs and have the .NET optimize the app locally? Will Crystal Reports (in VS 2008) run optimized for 64-bit and take advantage of the upper memory?

  • Does JSON.js cause conflicts with Sys.Serialization.JavaScriptSerializer.serialize

    - by David Robbins
I am using Telerik controls in my webforms and want to serialize object on the client. Since I am getting a stackoverflow error with Sys.Serialization.JavaScriptSerializer.deserialize I wanted to try JSON. With both JSON and and the MS library I get "Sys.Application is undefined." Has anyone encountered this what did you do as a work around? EDIT I am serializing my object on a parent page and passing them via an argument to a child window. The child window is in an IFRAME tag. The object can be used in the child page, but I receive the stackoverflow error when I serialize it. The object is an Array of objects.

  • slide animation skipped when using updatepanel callback

    - by superexsl
Hey, I'm trying to use UpdatePanels and JQuery but the panels seem to cancel out the JQuery. I want the user to press the search button, have the system perform the search using AJAX and then display the search results by sliding down the div using JQuery. However, it seems that if there are any delays, (I put the thread to sleep for a second), then the results just appear instead of sliding down. If I remove the sleep thread the sliding animation is fine. I've got the code below to execute the JQuery once the AJAX is loaded: <script type="text/javascript"> var prm = Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance(); prm.add_pageLoaded(showDiv); function showDiv(sender, args){ $("#results_bar").slideDown('slow'); } </script> Any ideas why the animation is skipped if there's a delay? Thanks

  • ASP.NET AJAX postback and jQuery

    - by Echilon
I have a Textbox, a LinkButton and a RadioButtonList inside an UpdatePanel. When the button is clicked, the UpdatePanel shows matching items in the radiobuttonlist. This works fine, but I now need to make the same happen OnKeyDown on the TextBox. I'm trying to cancel all AJAX requests in progress but not having much luck. Firstly, on every keypress the UpdatePanel posts back, so only one letter can be changed at a time. Secondly, the textbox loses focus on postback. I need to show the list as normal, but OnKeyDown as well as when the button is pressed. This is what I have (control IDs shortened) $('#textBoxId').live('keydown', function(e) { if((e.keyCode >= 47 && e.keyCode <= 90) || e.keyCode == 13) { Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance().abortPostBack(); $('#buttonId').click(); $('#textBoxId').focus(); } }); Thanks for any insight.
