  • Unit testing an iPhone static library with XCode 3

    I am writing a number of static libraries for the iPhone and wish also to have suites of unit tests. XCode 3 provides templates for both static libraries and unit tests but I am wondering how they should fit together in a static library project? In my static library project I have created a target for unit testing but expect to also create an executable to kick off the unit tests than run against the classes in the static library. What is the procedure for doing this?

  • Why is my GetNextChar() in my DecoderFallbackBuffer Specialization Repeatedly Getting Called?

    I need to produce my own DecoderFallback and DecoderFallbackBuffer classes to implement some custom stream decoding. I have found that the stream reader making use of it is calling GetNextChar() repeatedly even when my specilizaed DecoderFallbackBuffer.Remaining property returns 0 to indicate that there no more characters to return. The end result is that the stream reader gets into an infinite loop. Why is this happening?

  • Tomcat error with Hibernate 3.51 / Java EE 6

    I just upgraded to hibernate 3.51 and I get an error now saying: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: javax.persistence.OneToMany.orphanRemoval () Z. This only happens with Tomcat not with Jetty. I've checked and I don't have any conflict and this method definitely exists. I have hibernate-jpa-2.0-api-1.0.0.Final.jar on the class path, and dont have any conflicting classes. Any suggestions?

  • Are Hibernate named HQL queries (in annotations) optimised?

    A new colleague has just suggested using named HQL queries in Hibernate with annotations (i.e. @NamedQuery) instead of embedding HQL in our XxxxRepository classes. What I'd like to know is whether using the annotation provides any advantage except for centralising quueries? In particular, is there some performances gain, for instance because the query is only parsed once when the class is loaded rather than every time the Repository method is executed?

    Working in a medium size project during last 4 months - we are using JPA and Spring - I'm quite sure that JPA is not powerfull for projects that requires more than CRUD screen... Query interface is poor, Hibernate doesn't respect JPA spec all the time and lot of times I need to use hibernate classes, annotations and config. What do you guys think about JPA? Is it not good enough?

    I have written a large C# app with many methods in many classes. I'm trying to keep a log of what gets called and how often during my development. (I keep a record in a DB) Every method is padded with the following calls: void myMethod() { log(entering,args[]); log(exiting,args[]); } Since I want to do this for all my methods, is there a better way to do this then having to replicate those lines of code in every method?

    Hi, I'm trying to sort an array of objects by a common property, however I cannot get my $property parameter to register in the inner function (I can use it in the outer one OK). The way I read the documentation, it sounded like the parameter would be available, have I misunderstood something? I typed the following inside a User model class: has_many :friends, :class_name => "User", :foreign_key => :user_id, :finder_sql => %{SELECT users.* FROM users INNER JOIN friends ON (users.id = friends.user_id OR users.id = friends.friend_id) WHERE users.id <> #{id}} But the funny fact is that it seems that this finder_sql is called twice whenever I type User.first.friends on irb. Why?

    Hi, I have two tables which I would like to join by ID field. I was trying to use for this "INNER JOIN". Everything would be good but there are two issues: As a result I receive twice column ID. I have to omit specifying columns which should be displayed under select statement. I would like to use there a *. I red that other sql-s have something like natural join and that is probably (or not?) an answer for my question. Unfortunately there is no join like that in SQL Server (2005). Do anybody knows any good replacement of it?

    If I were to extricate my current membership provider from my solution, i.e. as a dll and expose it as a web service with it's own db, how would I model the relationships with regards to SOA design. For example I have a table: USER id, name, lastname, username, password, role. and table PRODUCT id, name, price, createdate, userid the foreign key being userid to table user. How would I model the relationship and/or query the db. If I wanted to get all products that were uploaded today for example, before I would query: SELECT u.name, u.lastname, u.username, p.* FROM PRODUCT p INNER JOIN USER u ON p.userid = u.id WHERE createdate = '05/05/2010' Now that I don't have the table within the database how would I perform this query?     I have a page structure similar to this: <body> <div id="parent"> <div id="childRightCol"> <div> <div id="childLeftCol"> <div> </div> </body> I would like for the parent div to expand in height when the inner div height expands. Edit: One caveat is that if/when the width of the child content expands past the width of the browser window, my current CSS puts a horizontal scroll on the parent div. I would like the scrollbar to be at the page level. (Currently my parent div is set to overflow: auto;) Can you please help me with the CSS for this?

    A dual interface in COM is one that is able to be accessed via a DispInterface or via VTable methods. Now can someone tell me what is exactly what the difference is between the two methods? I thought that a VTable is a virtual table which holds the pointers to the different functions when implementing a class hierarchy which has virtual functions that can be overridden in child classes. However I do not see how this is related to a dual interface in COM?

  • Built-in precedence in Expression Trees?

    I'm unable to find the .NET FCL built-in concept of precedence to leverage while constructing Expression Trees. Ref System.Linq.Expressions Namespace. Is this something that must be handled manually in code, or is it somehow implicit and I'm not recognizing it? Maybe through helper methods or classes? I want to apply it to math operations to ensure 3 + 5 * 10 results in 53 instead of 80.
