• Importing an Excel WorkSheet into a Datatable

  I have been asked to create import functionality in my application. I am getting an excel worksheet as input. The worksheet has column headers followed by data. The users want to simply select an xls file from their system, click upload and the tool deletes the table in the database and adds this new data. I thought the best way would be too bring the data into a datatable object and do a foeach for every row in the datatable insert row by row into the db. My question is what can anyone give me code to open an excel file, know what line the data starts on in the file, and import the data into a datable object?

• IDENTITY_INSERT is set to off error

  I have a MVC web application with a table in the model that I would like to add to. I have the primary key set along with the other data fields, but every time I try to add to the table, I get the following error: "Cannot insert explicit value for identity column in table 'TABLE_NAME' when IDENTITY_INSERT is set to OFF." I'm not sure why this problem is coming up, I have the primary key set as the identity and it is also set to auto increment in the Visual Studio table designer. Is there any way I can adjust the IDENTITY_INSERT parameter in the table designer in Visual Studio?? Or is there some other issue that might be causing this.

  Can someone tell me, when you for example update, insert, delete.. should you then close it like $stmt->close(); ? i checked php manual and don't understand what close() actually does. EXAMPLE: $stmt = $dbh->prepare("SELECT `user_email` FROM `users` WHERE `user_email` = ? LIMIT 1"); $stmt->execute(array($email)); $stmt->close(); Next part of my question is, if as an example i had multiple update queries in a transaction after every execute() for each query i am executing should i close them individually ? ... because it's a transaction not sure i need to use $stmt->close(); after each execute(); or just use one $stmt->close(); after all of them ? • Swap unique indexed column values in database.

  I have a database table and one of the fields (not primary key) is having unique index on it. Now I want to swap values under this column for two rows. How could this be done? Two hack I know are: Delete both rows and re-insert them Update rows with some other value and swap and then update to actual value. But I don't want to go for these as they do not seem to be the appropriate solution to the problem. Could anyone help me out?

• deserialization on client sied in Domain Service

  i have 2 classes. Person and Contact. Person class has property named "ContactNumber" which returns the Contact type, and this property is marked as "Datamember" for serialization. i have marked Contact type as "DAtaContract". on client side i am able to get the values, but when i try to insert a value and then do submit, i get the below exception. • Need to change ip address in app.config in runtime without runnning as admin

  Hey guys, There's a lot of post saying how to change info in the app.config and there are posts that say you shouldn't edit info in the app.config but store info in user folders. I understand these topics. But what i want is a combination of both. I have a wcf setup for my client in an app.config, which contains the endpoint address to which it should connect. When The server changes ip, or when a client is installed on a computer in another company, the user should be able to insert another ip-address which should be stored in the app.config. This cannot be stored in a file in appdata or something like that, as the client reads the info in the app.config on startup. How can i write (so remember the new ip-address) in the app.config when the client is installed in program files, the UAC is enabled and the program isn't run as an admin? Thanks in advance.

• SubSonic 3.0 - Save method with all columns as parameters?

  Hi, Just getting started with SubSonic. I'm using the Repository pattern, so my domain objects are totally seperate, and SubSonic-generated classes are used only in my data access layer. I'm wondering if a template exists that will give me a Save method (Insert/Update) that requires all table column values as parameters. My thinking is that since I need to do the mapping work manually, at least if my database schema changes (ie, a new column is added), I won't forget to add a corresponding mapping, since the auto-generated method signature would change and the compiler would catch it. I've considered messing with the T4 templates to add this feature, but thought I'd check if this already exists somewhere before I head down that path. Thanks in advance.

  What Unix program generates "diff"s between text files (or INSERT/UPDATE/DELETEs for databases) in such a way that the order that the "diff"s are applied in is irrelevant, and the result is the same regardless of order. Etherpad used to do something like this. Example (for a given document or database): % Adam makes a change X, then Bob makes a change Y, then Adam makes another change Z. % However, because of network latency, Adam sees the changes in this order: XZY, while Bob sees them in this order: YXZ. % However, the code/changes are written so that XYZ and YXZ yield the same result. Note: ideally, this can be done without having to do X/Y/Z inverse at any point. • msysGit: Why does git log output blank lines?

  It appears to insert less blank lines the closer I type the command to the bottom of the terminal window. If I type it at the top of the terminal window, it inserts nearly a full window height of blank lines; if I type it at the very bottom, no blank lines are inserted. It seems like the pager program is pushing output to the bottom of the terminal window, but I want the output to be right below my command or at the top, like in Linux git. I can get expected behavior by using git --no-pager log, but what if I want to use a pager?

  Hi team; I am working on the domain model for a project. I have a class named user that has a class named UserType as one of the properties. I know when i want to select all users, i will use joins to pick up all corresponding usertypes. How do i do inserts? Do i have to write a handler for userType? or can i do something like INSERT INTO users(... usertype_id ...) VALUES(... #{usertype.usertype_id}...) Please help; I have spent the whole day trying to figure this out. Am using ibatis 3.0 and am new to ibatis. Regards Josh

  Hello, this is just teorethical question. I use JDBC with my Java applications for using database (select, insert, update, delete or whatever). I make "manually" Java classes which will contain data from DB tables (attribute = db column). Than I make querys (ResultSet) and fill those classes with data. I am not sure, if this is the right way. But I've read lot of about JDO and another persistence solutions. Can you please recommend some? Which are modern? Will be used in the future? Some advantages of JDO over JDBC (in simple words). I've been able to google lot of this stuff, but opinions from the "first hand" are always best. Thank you for responses, Mike

• T-SQL error object exists when separated in if/else blocks

  I get the error: Msg 2714, Level 16, State 1, Line 16 There is already an object named '#mytemptable' in the database. There are ways around it, but wonder why this happens. • Is it possible to take a screenshot of a web page with Javascript or HTML5/Canvas?

  Is there a way I could insert some code into a page that would take a screenshot of what the user sees in the browser window, then upload that image via a web form of some sort? I'm working on a clone of a pay-to-use service that lets you install a widget on a web page which in turn allows viewers to report bugs in the sites layout. Currently they use a Java applet to take the screenshot, which, in my opinion, is probably the worst way to go about it (aside from requiring the user to install a plugin) Is there a javascript/flash/other alternative? • Changes to the User Permissions Not saving

  I am use drupal 6. it seems like permission page can not save too many settings. I have try to save permission setting, but it is just not saved into DB. I have found out this is due to "too many fields". (use content permission module). if i uncheck some fields, and then checking lesser fields, permission will be saved. for example, if I am unchecking 2 check boxes, then checking one check box, permission will be saved. does any one know which function the permission page used to insert result into db? my php memory limit is 256M.

Table player_accumulator (and team_accumulator) table would be player_id total_goals total_assists 1 3 6 team_id total_goals total_assists 8 3 1 9 0 5 Each time a row is inserted in stats table, a trigger will insert/update player_accumulator and team_accumulator tables. This trigger could also verify if player or team has reached a milestone in milestone table containing numbers milestone 100 500 1000 ...
