    Hi, I currently have a Grails application I'm evaluating to port to Google App Engine and I'd like to know experiences regarding: Acegi security: the application relies on this library to enforce the security. Use of JPA or JDO instead of the hibernate plugin (I'll have to migrate the Domain classes); which one is better ? I have a growing number of pre-generated pdf files I keep uploading; is there any foreseeable problem with this? Thanks in advance.

  • .net Studio Local Database

    Hello everyone, i am designing a local database in .net with wpf as gui. I have added a new database, and added a new table. Through the TableAdapter i generated 2 statements ( 1 statement is a select stmt and 1 is a insert) , i insert name and firstname (id is auto generated). For some reason, I keep getting an error message that says: 'MyClassName' is inaccessible due to its protection level Both assemblies are signed and I have the correct key listed in the attribute declaration.     Hello, I have a Table Machines that made of: ID = Identity , Primary , AutoIncrement,NOT NULL SN = Unique , String , NOT NULL Name =String now I am using a form to insert data into this table, and I am using BindingSource and ErrorProvider, I am handling Null and Empty string in the DataSet layer (partial class in the dataset.xsd), now when I try to end editing this.machinesBindingSource.EndEdit(); I got this error message: ex.Message = "Column 'SN' is constrained to be unique. Value '123' is already present." I know I entered a duplicated value but the question is HOW can I determine which the columnName that cause the error and re-write the error message entirely in different language I want to get the columnName and the wrong value thanks in advance

  • How do you implement paging in ASP.NET MVC?

    Currently, I'm using a strategy found on many blog posts. Basically, the URL contains the page number (e.g. /Users/List/5 will give you the users on page 5 of your paged list of users). However, I'm not running into a situation where one page must list two separate paged lists. How do I go about doing this using ASP.NET MVC? Do I simply provide two url parameters (e.g. /Users/List?page1=1&page2=2)? Is there a better way by using partial views?

I know how this is done with normal classes, but in this case I am only trying to fill in some demo data.   • XSD.exe doesn't enforce minOccurs

    I have a simple schema where I'm declaring both minOccurs and maxOccurs to 1. When I run the XSD.exe to generate a C# class and consume the class in code; the field is not enforced as mandatory. Is there some additional step missing? or does the classes generated using XSD.exe don't mandatory fields? any suggestions or insight will be helpful.

    Is it possible to use ASP.NET Dynamic Data with SubSonic 3 in-place of Linq to SQL classes or the Entity Framework? MetaModel.RegisterContext() throws an exception if you use the context class that SubSonic generates. I thought I remembered coming across a SubSonic/Dynamic Data example back before SubSonic 3 was released but I can't find it now. Has anyone been able to get this to work?

    I've seen simple examples of rendering a Zend_Form using decorators, but I'm not sure they are able to handle the issue I'm facing very well. I query the database and get an array of user objects. I want to display these users as a form, with a radio button next to each of them and a submit button at the bottom of the page. Here's roughly what the form will look like: [user id] [email] [full name] ( ) 1 [email protected] Test user 1 (*) 2 [email protected] Test user 2 [SUBMIT] Is this something achievable in a reasonably straightforward way or do I need to use the ViewScript partial?

    Is there any cost/drawback (apart from typing too much) to adorning a class with System.Runtime.Serialization attributes (like [DataContract]) such that it can be used locally as a direct reference to a desktop Client project or as a type for a WCF service? The goal here is to write a data-tier class that can be used in both rich client (WPF) and Web scenarios. My data classes will be in a project that is separate from Client and WCF (*.svc code-behind) code. Is this a valid attempt to reuse code?

IE: How can I include a database drawn navigation list in a sidebar? I have been looking into partial views, but they seem to get their content from the controller.   • Using FindAll on a List<List<T>> type

    Assuming public class MyClass { public int ID {get; set; } public string Name {get; set; } } and List<MyClass> classList = //populate with MyClass instances of various IDs I can do List<MyClass> result = classList.FindAll(class => class.ID == 123); and that will give me a list of just classes with ID = 123. Works great, looks elegant. Now, if I had List<List<MyClass>> listOfClassLists = //populate with Lists of MyClass instances How do I get a filtered list where the lists themselves are filtered. I tried List<List<MyClass>> result = listOfClassLists.FindAll (list => list.FindAll(class => class.ID == 123).Count > 0); it looks elegant, but doesn't work. It only includes Lists of classes where at least one class has an ID of 123, but it includes ALL MyClass instances in that list, not just the ones that match. I ended up having to do List<List<MyClass>> result = Results(listOfClassLists, 123); private List<List<MyClass>> Results(List<List<MyClass>> myListOfLists, int id) { List<List<MyClass>> results = new List<List<MyClass>>(); foreach (List<MyClass> myClassList in myListOfLists) { List<MyClass> subList = myClassList.FindAll(myClass => myClass.ID == id); if (subList.Count > 0) results.Add(subList); } return results; } which gets the job done, but isn't that elegant. Just looking for better ways to do a FindAll on a List of Lists. Ken

  • Should ActionResult perform other tasks too

    In Asp.net MVC one is encouraged to derive custom ActionResults, however should these classes handle other tasks unrelated to views, perhaps a EmailActionResult would render a view then send an email. What is best practice for the class ActionResult, is it only view specific? I want to keep things DRY too. Should the sending of the email be factored into a service class? perhaps using a filter would work. what are your thoughts?
