• Automating MySQL configuration with kickstart

  I've been testing deployment for a website with some virtual servers. I have most of my deployment steps done via kickstart file (package installation and user creation). However, for MySQL I have to: Run mysql_secure_installation (sets up root password, deletes anonymous users, disallows root login remotely, removes test databases) ./ Then, create the website's databases and the database user. I'm not sure if this is possible in kickstart---especially the prompts in mysql_secure_installation. Perhaps someone has some suggestions or examples?

• Watchguard XTM blocking login attempts

  routinely I'm seeing lots of login attempts to my mail server trying out various login names starting from A to Z coming from the one IP on one day and another IP on another day. Is there any means to detect this type of activities and block accordingly? I asked Watchguard and it appears they don't support this on their XTM series. Anything else I can do other than to have a super long password?

  I'm new to LDAP and I'm trying to add the mmc.ldif and mail.ldif files that come with Mandriva Directory Server to my LDAP configuration, using the command : ldapadd -x -W -D "cn=admin,dc=biganon,dc=com" -f schema/mmc.ldif I then give the admin password I've set during slapd installation but get this error : ldap_bind: Invalid credentials (49) I have no slapd.conf file. I'm on Debian 6.0.1, OpenLDAP 2.4.23 Thank you

• MySQL server installation problems (windows)

  Hi guys, I'm trying to install some CMS software (Wiccle). I was using XAMPP's MySQL but was getting a lot of errors (the same configuration works on another machine) so thought I'd install MySQL Community Edition to see if the proplem was related to the MySQL server. When I install and run the MySQL Community Edition service, however, it only works with my XAMPP password, and contains the same tables as the XAMPP install. Is there a common local database file where the database and login info is stored? Any help appreciated

  how can I access a GRAPHICAL login screen (like on earlier Windows versions, or like VNC) instead of the Username/Password prompt via RDP? I'm asking because we have several servers where we have no passwords but the shutdown/reboot option is given via group policy on the login screen. • rsync not writing files

  I'm trying to setup rsync to backup a remote directory to my local drive. I cd to the directory that I want to pull the files to, then I enter: rsync -vrtW [email protected]:~/public_html I enter the password then it starts running. I get all the files listed, but none of them actually transfer. What am I missing? Thanks

  I am trying to reference my .asmx webservices in .NET but my server is not exposed to the internet. When I put on the following address I get the message mentioned below. What's the reason for not being able to see the directory? Am I missing something in my IIS configuraction? Am I missing anything in my permissions? Just as reference I have other folders with webservices and I have the same issue. When I login to the server I am doing it with my windows user and password (I am using windows authentication).   I have the complete hdd of my laptop encrypted (with the Windows built-in Bitlocker) and thus have to login two times upon booting (Bitlocker and user account). Since I'm the only person using the computer (and knowing the Bitlocker password), I was thinking about automatically login into the user account to make the boot process smoother and quicker. While it starts and working fine, I can't login with gdm, after I enter login and password, X crashes and I'm at login prompt again. I can login with console just fine.   I have set up a mercurial repo to be served using apache+wsgi+hgweb on OS X. It is now completely open to anyone who stumbles upon my server on the correct port number.. How can I set it up so that only people with a username+password pair that I approve can pull and/or push from the repo? I know how to very easily achieve this using ssh, but in this specific case the requirement is that the solution doesn't require defining full fledged user accounts on the machine for each person whom I'd like to give access to the repo.

I found and I'm using Gladinet which allowed dragging of a folder plus contents into SkyDrive, but not dragging of folders containing folders, its working but it has also failed to transfer a few times as well.
