  • Security when writing a PHP webservice?

    I am writing a web service in PHP for the first time and had ran into some security problems. 1) I am planning to hash passwords using md5() before I write them to the database (or to authenticate the user) but I realize that to do that, I would have to transmit the password in plaintext to the server and hash it there. Because of this I thought of md5()ing it with javascript client side and then rehashing on the server but then if javascript is disabled, then the user can't login, right? 2) I have heard that anything that when the action is readonly, you should use GET but if it modifies the database, you should use POST. Isn't post just as transparent as GET, just not in the address bar?

I think it is because the access token expires. how can I change this code to incorporate the extended access token to log in the user to my site? offline access token is deprecated, so I need to use the extended access token.

I've got so far but my Attribute code doesn't seem to fire if an exception occurs: public class ReportingAttribute : FilterAttribute, IExceptionFilter { public void OnException(ExceptionContext filterContext) { // This will generate an email to me ErrorReporting.GenerateEmail(filterContext.Exception); } } Then above my Controller I'm doing: [ReportingAttribute] public class AccountController : Controller The other way to do it is ofcourse putting ErrorReporting.GenerateEmail(ex) inside my catch blocks? There must be a simpler way? Thats why I thought of creating the Attribute to handle this

Im guessing hte addlead.pl is just a posting page with no response.

  • ampersand problem with wordpress categories

    I have an array of categories, some with an & i.e. events & entertainment. My script imports these categories and gets the ID of each using its name. i.e.: $cat_id = array(get_cat_id($linearray[0]),get_cat_id($linearray[1]),get_cat_id($linearray[2]),get_cat_id($linearray[3])); My script then adds a post to wp using these category ID's. My problem is that categories from my import with the & are not imported. These same categories (when an email notice is sent) break the email at the &. Is there a simple workaround to this?

    I'm attempting to provide a confirmation link in my user welcome email and I'm getting the following Rails error: Need controller and action! It makes a fuss about this line: <p>Please take a moment to activate your account by going to: <%= link_to confirm_user_url(:id => @user.confirmation_code) %>.</p> In my development.rb environment, I have the following line: config.action_mailer.default_url_options = { :host => "localhost", :port => 3000 } There's no problem with the @user variable. I've tested the email with things like @user.username and @user.confirmation_code. I'm only getting trouble with url_for and named routes like confirm_user_url. When I check my routes with rake routes, confirm_user shows up, so it's not an issue with the named route not existing. I can't seem to figure it out. What gives?

For the last field on the form, I want to have a checkbox that doesn't need to be stored as part of the User record, but it is needed for the controller. When I add 300 it seems to delete everything in my table: DELETE u1 From tx_table u1 JOIN tx_table u2 USING (email) WHERE u1.tstamp < u2.tstamp+300. How can I add 5 minutes to the tstamp with SQL?

    I've exhausted all efforts at what appears to be a trivial problem, but gotten nowhere. There is a simple Prepare statement: $qry = $core->db->prepare("SELECT * FROM users WHERE email = '?'"); $qry->execute(array('[email protected]')); However, no rows are returned. Running the query with the parameters hardcoded into the query results in a successful selection of one row. I've tryed many different methods of doing the prepare, but even it this most simple form it isn't working. The PDO object is stored in a singleton called Core. PDO is using the mysql driver.

    I have a model called Contact_Email. When an Email template is sent through ActionMailer to a specific Contact, as part of the Create action it sends it through upon .save. However, I want to create a "skip" action which also creates a Contact_Email, but does NOT send an ActionMailer and allows me to set the status differently.
