• Version control of Mathematica notebooks

  Mathematica notebooks are, of course, plaintext files -- it seems reasonable to expect that they should play nice with a version-control system (git in my case, although I doubt the specific system matters). But the fact is that any .nb file is full of cache information, timestamps, and other assorted metadata. Scads of it. Which means that limited version control is possible -- commits and rollbacks work fine. Merging, though, is a disaster. Mathematica won't open a file with merge markers in it, and a text editor is no way to go through a .nb file. Has anyone had any luck putting a notebook under version control? How?

• Django "Error: cannot import name escape" on windows

  I cannot run the dev server because of this error ("Error: cannot import name escape"). I assume its because of modifications I've done to the project, but i have no idea how to find where the error is originating from to fix it. I don't import anything called escape anywhere. Update Using django-admin.py rather than the projects manage.py, don't know why... Update 2 Now manage.py is working. This may be because I had a file called email.py which was trying to import email.mime.text (ie trying to import itself) renaming to sendemail.py solved this problem.

  I'm running a unit test using the Django framework and get this error. Running the actual code does not have this problem, running the unit tests creates a test database on the fly so I suspect the issue lies there. The code that throws the error looks like this member = Member.objects.get(email=email_address) and the model looks like class Member(models.Model): member_id = models.IntegerField(primary_key=True) created_on = models.DateTimeField(editable=False, default=datetime.datetime.utcnow()) flags = models.IntegerField(default=0) email = models.CharField(max_length=150, blank=True) phone = models.CharField(max_length=150, blank=True) country_iso = models.CharField(max_length=6, blank=True) location_id = models.IntegerField(null=True, blank=True) facebook_uid = models.IntegerField(null=True, blank=True) utc_offset = models.IntegerField(null=True, blank=True) tokens = models.CharField(max_length=3000, blank=True) class Meta: db_table = u'member' there's nothing too odd there i can see. the user running the tests has the same permissions to the database server as the user that runs the website where else can I look to see what's going wrong, why is this table not being created?

• How could I stop PHP from returning headers when executed from commandline?

  This may be a ridiculous question, but it's been bothering me for a while. I have a mail forwarder piped to a PHP script, it receives perfectly, however I have the following error mailed back to me instantly: A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed: pipe to |/home/[webroot]/public_html/external/mobile/email.php generated by mobile@[mydomain] The following text was generated during the delivery attempt: X-Powered-By: PHP/5.2.13 Content-type: text/html As you can see, Exim thinks the header response an error from the script I have. The script can receive the Email perfectly from php://stdin but Exim is quick-replying with the error. Plus, It's running from console, not Apache so HTAccess or configuring Apache most likely would do nothing. I can not find any solution, or anyone with the same problem. So my question is: How to I get rid of those two headers? Thanks, ~Jonny

  Hi, I have a problem, I created a full text search query which return a record(s), in which the paramater I have supplied match(es) in every fields(full-text indexed) of multiple tables. The problem is , when the user.id is equal to ceritification.AId it returns a records eventhough it was not satisfied with the parameter supplied. For this example I supplied a value "xandrick" which return an Id=184, but the problem is it returns two ids which is 184 and 154.What is the best way to return an ID(s) that satisfied of the supplied given value? • node.js with SQL Server Native Client 11 scope_identity not being returned

  I'm having trouble with inserting a value into a database through node.js. Here is the offending code: sql.query(conn_str ,"INSERT INTO Login(email, hash, salt, firstName, lastName) VALUES(?, ?, ?, ?, ?); SELECT SCOPE_IDENTITY() AS 'Identity';" , [email, hash, salt, firstName, lastName], function(err, results){ console.log(results) } Unfortunately, the console is just echoing [], meaning results is an empty array, I suppose. Does anyone know why the identity is not being returned? Even if it was null, why isn't results then [{Identity: null }] ? Database is on Azure, which does have a "Scope_Identity" function, and the native client also recognises this function. Using node package "msnodesql" Please Help

  I think there are a few similar questions that seem to suggest using app_data in the signed request (http://developers.facebook.com/docs/authentication/signed_request/) but I'm not sure if it will be possible to do what I am trying to achieve with it as I've never used it before. If I have my Facebook 'Tab' Url as follows: http://www.facebook.com/pages/PAGE_TITLE/PAGE_ID?sk=app_APP_ID What I want to do is add an extra parameter on the end as follows: &WT.mc_id=email-uk-8014 The reason for this is for tracking purposes and links will be sent out of the form http://www.facebook.com/pages/PAGE_TITLE/PAGE_ID?sk=app_APP_ID&WT.mc_id=email-uk-8014 and the extra parameter will allow us to track the campaign id. As you can see I have no way of knowing the value of the parameter beforehand as it depends on the link clicked by the user so is it possible to somehow get the value of the WT.mc_id parameter inside my iframe app?

  I have a controller that uses a command object in a controller action. When mocking this command object in a grails' controller unit test, the hasErrors() method always returns false, even when I am purposefully violating its constraints. def save = { RegistrationForm form -> if(form.hasErrors()) { // code block never gets executed } else { // code block always gets executed } } In the test itself, I do this: mockCommandObject(RegistrationForm) def form = new RegistrationForm(emailAddress: "ken.bad@gmail", password: "secret", confirmPassword: "wrong") controller.save(form) I am purposefully giving it a bad email address, and I am making sure the password and the confirmPassword properties are different. In this case, hasErrors() should return true... but it doesn't. • Best way to export an icon from photoshop?

  Hi, I'm writing a program to notify me of new email. It's mostly complete, I'm just working on the notifyicon code now. It's supposed to display the usual application icon with a box containing the count of unread emails inside it. I created icons for this in photoshop, exported them as 16x16 transparent PNGs, then converted them into windows ico files using ConvertIcon.com. Given that the image was 16x16 and the WinXP system tray uses 16x16 icons, I would assume the images would work.   I'm trying to "faux-fork" a process (an email being sent via SMTP) in my web application, and the application is built on Kohana. $command = 'test/email'; exec('php index.php '.$command.' > /dev/null/ &', $errors, $response); I'm getting an error -- Notice: Undefined index: SERVER_NAME When I look into Kohana's index.php file, I see that it is looking for a variable named SERVER_NAME, but I guess it is coming up NULL because Kohana couldn't detect this value and set it prior to run. Any ideas how to get Kohana to run via command line?

• Drupal Webforms module - Form results say "Array" instead of form values

  I have a simple form built with the Webforms module in Drupal. The standard textfield form fields work perfectly. However if I use the preset date or time form values, they don't get emailed properly when the form is submitted. For instance, if there was a date field in my form, it would submit fine and render on the results page just fine, but if I wanted that value to be included in an email, it would show up as "Array" within the text of the email instead of showing the date. There is an open support issue within the module issues page, but I'm hoping for any additional help.
