• Applet Loading Error - Jasper Report

  I encountered very silly error , but any way i can not figure out solution.i am loading java applet which encompass a simple jasper viewer in it. when the applet is loaded it throws following exception. var version = '1.4'; deployJava.runApplet(attributes, parameters, version); </script> every jar i referred in the applet attributes exist the resource folder of my webroot, which are appletviewer.jar commons-beanutils-1.8.0.jar commons-collections-3.2.1.jar commons-digester-1.7.jar commons-javaflow-20060411.jar commons-logging-1.0.4.jar jasperreports-4.0.0.jar jasperreports-applet-4.0.0.jar org-netbeans-core.jar all the jars are signed today, so no validity expires. i have double check all the things. but it always shows the above error. in iReport i can view the report and it is compiled to jasper object with no error. the java console from control panel http://pastebin.com/Xt6303tT My question is why the classNotFound Exception happens ? i check in the temp cache that the collections file is downloaded succesfully and in the above console log it shows that the jars are successfully downloaded to the host computer. • Passing integer lists in a sql query, best practices

  I'm currently looking at ways to pass lists of integers in a SQL query, and try to decide which of them is best in which situation, what are the benefots of each, and what are the pitfalls, what should be avoided :) Right now I know of 3 ways that we currently use in our application. 1) Table valued parameter: Create a new Table Valued Parameter in sql server: CREATE TYPE [dbo].[TVP_INT] AS TABLE( [ID] [int] NOT NULL ) Then run the query against it: using (var conn = new SqlConnection(DataContext.GetDefaultConnectionString)) { var comm = conn.CreateCommand(); comm.CommandType = CommandType.Text; comm.CommandText = @" UPDATE DA SET [tsLastImportAttempt] = CURRENT_TIMESTAMP FROM [Account] DA JOIN @values IDs ON DA.ID = IDs.ID"; comm.Parameters.Add(new SqlParameter("values", downloadResults.Select(d => d.ID).ToDataTable()) { TypeName = "TVP_INT" }); conn.Open(); comm.ExecuteScalar(); } The major disadvantages of this method is the fact that Linq doesn't support table valued params (if you create an SP with a TVP param, linq won't be able to run it) :( 2) Convert the list to Binary and use it in Linq! This is a bit better.. Create an SP, and you can run it within linq :) To do this, the SP will have an IMAGE parameter, and we'll be using a user defined function (udf) to convert this to a table.. We currently have implementations of this function written in C++ and in assembly, both have pretty much the same performance :) Basically, each integer is represented by 4 bytes, and passed to the SP. In .NET we have an extension method that convers an IEnumerable to a byte array The extension method: public static Byte[] ToBinary(this IEnumerable intList) { return ToBinaryEnum(intList).ToArray(); } private static IEnumerable<Byte> ToBinaryEnum(IEnumerable<Int32> intList) { IEnumerator<Int32> marker = intList.GetEnumerator(); while (marker.MoveNext()) { Byte[] result = BitConverter.GetBytes(marker.Current); Array.Reverse(result); foreach (byte b in result) yield return b; } } The SP: CREATE PROCEDURE [Accounts-UpdateImportAttempts] @values IMAGE AS BEGIN UPDATE DA SET [tsLastImportAttempt] = CURRENT_TIMESTAMP FROM [Account] DA JOIN dbo.udfIntegerArray(@values, 4) IDs ON DA.ID = IDs.Value4 END And we can use it by running the SP directly, or in any linq query we need using (var db = new DataContext()) { db.Accounts_UpdateImportAttempts(downloadResults.Select(d => d.ID).ToBinary()); // or var accounts = db.Accounts .Where(a => db.udfIntegerArray(downloadResults.Select(d => d.ID).ToBinary(), 4) .Select(i => i.Value4) .Contains(a.ID)); } This method has the benefit of using compiled queries in linq (which will have the same sql definition, and query plan, so will also be cached), and can be used in SPs as well. Both these methods are theoretically unlimited, so you can pass millions of ints at a time :) 3) The simple linq .Contains() It's a more simple approach, and is perfect in simple scenarios. But is of course limited by this. using (var db = new DataContext()) { var accounts = db.Accounts .Where(a => downloadResults.Select(d => d.ID).Contains(a.ID)); } The biggest drawback of this method is that each integer in the downloadResults variable will be passed as a separate int.. In this case, the query is limited by sql (max allowed parameters in a sql query, which is a couple of thousand, if I remember right). So I'd like to ask.. What do you think is the best of these, and what other methods and approaches have I missed?

• Problem Registering a Generic Repository with Windsor IoC

  I’m fairly new to IoC and perhaps my understanding of generics and inheritance is not strong enough for what I’m trying to do. You might find this to be a mess. I have a generic Repository base class: public class Repository<TEntity> where TEntity : class, IEntity { private Table<TEntity> EntityTable; private string _connectionString; private string _userName; public string UserName { get { return _userName; } set { _userName = value; } } public Repository() {} public Repository(string connectionString) { _connectionString = connectionString; EntityTable = (new DataContext(connectionString)).GetTable<TEntity>(); } public Repository(string connectionString, string userName) { _connectionString = connectionString; _userName = userName; EntityTable = (new DataContext(connectionString)).GetTable<TEntity>(); } // Data access methods ... ... } and a SqlClientRepository that inherits Repository: public class SqlClientRepository : Repository<Client> { private Table<Client> ClientTable; private string _connectionString; private string _userName; public SqlClientRepository() {} public SqlClientRepository(string connectionString) : base(connectionString) { _connectionString = connectionString; ClientTable = (new DataContext(connectionString)).GetTable<Client>(); } public SqlClientRepository(string connectionString, string userName) : base(connectionString, userName) { _connectionString = connectionString; _userName = userName; ClientTable = (new DataContext(connectionString)).GetTable<Client>(); } // data access methods unique to Client repository ... } The Repository class provides some generics methods like Save, Delete, etc, that I want all my repository derived classes to share. The TEntity parameter is constrained to the IEntity interface: public interface IEntity { int Id { get; set; } NameValueCollection GetSaveRuleViolations(); NameValueCollection GetDeleteRuleViolations(); } This allows the Repository class to reference these methods within its Save and Delete methods. Unit tests work fine on mock SqlClientRepository instances as well as live unit tests on the real database. However, in the MVC context: public class ClientController : Controller { private SqlClientRepository _clientRepository; public ClientController(SqlClientRepository clientRepository) { this._clientRepository = clientRepository; } public ClientController() { } // ViewResult methods ... ... } ... _clientRepository is always null. I’m using Windor Castle as an IoC container. Here is the configuration: <component id="ClientRepository" service="DomainModel.Concrete.Repository`1[[DomainModel.Entities.Client, DomainModel]], DomainModel" type="DomainModel.Concrete.SqlClientRepository, DomainModel" lifestyle="PerWebRequest"> <parameters> <connectionString>#{myConnStr}</connectionString> </parameters> </component> I’ve tried many variations in the Windsor configuration file. I suspect it’s more of a design flaw in the above code. As I'm looking over my code, it occurs to me that when registering components with an IoC container, perhaps service must always be an interface. Could this be it? Does anybody have a suggestion? I am trying to use the JDO Storage capabilities with Google App Engine Java. • Overwrite archetypes in Maven

  Hello again! I'm having some trouble using Maven for my archetypes and I will need to overwrite some. I launch an instruction that does an archetype:generate in an archetype already existing directory. Is there a parameter that let's me overwrite existing archetypes? I have search the maven definitve guide but it states that the only parameters accepted are: -DgroupId -DartifactId -Dversion -DpackageName -DarchetypeGroupId -DarchetypeArtifactId -DarchetypeVersion -DinteractiveMode I could just search the directory and delete the files, but this proccess is going to be done automatically (so no human involved, no brains involved) and I wouldn't like he machine deleting things around. • ListView: convertView / holder getting confused

  I'm working with a ListView, trying to get the convertView / referenceHolder optimisation to work properly but it's giving me trouble. (This is the system where you store the R.id.xxx pointers in as a tag for each View to avoid having to call findViewById). I have a ListView populated with simple rows of an ImageView and some text, but the ImageView can be formatted either for portrait-sized images (tall and narrow) or landscape-sized images (short and wide). It's adjusting this formatting for each row which isn't working as I had hoped. The basic system is that to begin with, it inflates the layout for each row and sets the ImageView's settings based on the data, and includes an int denoting the orientation in the tag containing the R.id.xxx values. Then when it starts reusing convertViews, it checks this saved orientation against the orientation of the new row. The theory then is that if the orientation is the same, then the ImageView should already be set up correctly. If it isn't, then it sets the parameters for the ImageView as appropriate and updates the tag. However, I found that it was somehow getting confused; sometimes the tag would get out of sync with the orientation of the ImageView. For example, the tag would still say portrait, but the actual ImageView would still be in landscape layout. I couldn't find a pattern to how or when this happened; it wasn't consistent by orientation, position in the list or speed of scrolling. I can solve the problem by simply removing the check about convertView's orientation and simply always set the ImageView's parameters, but that seems to defeat the purpose of this optimisation. I assigned values to fit the curve but the curve not appear. Any suggestions and help how to solve the problem?   I am creating a model-first Entity Framework 4 app that uses SQL CE as its data store. All is well until I call ObjectContext.SaveChanges() to save changes to the entities in the model.   I'm using Code Contracts in C# 4.0. I'm applying the usual static method chaining to simulate optional parameters (I know C# 4.0 supports optional parameters but I really don't want to use them). • Why are there 3 conflicting OpenCV camera calibration formulas?

  I'm having a problem with OpenCV's various parameterization of coordinates used for camera calibration purposes. The problem is that three different sources of information on image distortion formulae apparently give three non-equivalent description of the parameters and equations involved: (1) In their book "Learning OpenCV…" Bradski and Kaehler write regarding lens distortion (page 376): xcorrected = x * ( 1 + k1 * r^2 + k2 * r^4 + k3 * r^6 ) + [ 2 * p1 * x * y + p2 * ( r^2 + 2 * x^2 ) ], ycorrected = y * ( 1 + k1 * r^2 + k2 * r^4 + k3 * r^6 ) + [ p1 * ( r^2 + 2 * y^2 ) + 2 * p2 * x * y ], where r = sqrt( x^2 + y^2 ). Assumably, (x, y) are the coordinates of pixels in the uncorrected captured image corresponding to world-point objects with coordinates (X, Y, Z), camera-frame referenced, for which xcorrected = fx * ( X / Z ) + cx and ycorrected = fy * ( Y / Z ) + cy, where fx, fy, cx, and cy, are the camera's intrinsic parameters. So, having (x, y) from a captured image, we can obtain the desired coordinates ( xcorrected, ycorrected ) to produced an undistorted image of the captured world scene by applying the above first two correction expressions. However... (2) The complication arises as we look at OpenCV 2.0 C Reference entry under the Camera Calibration and 3D Reconstruction section. For ease of comparison we start with all world-point (X, Y, Z) coordinates being expressed with respect to the camera's reference frame, just as in #1. Consequently, the transformation matrix [ R | t ] is of no concern. In the C reference, it is expressed that: x' = X / Z, y' = Y / Z, x'' = x' * ( 1 + k1 * r'^2 + k2 * r'^4 + k3 * r'^6 ) + [ 2 * p1 * x' * y' + p2 * ( r'^2 + 2 * x'^2 ) ], y'' = y' * ( 1 + k1 * r'^2 + k2 * r'^4 + k3 * r'^6 ) + [ p1 * ( r'^2 + 2 * y'^2 ) + 2 * p2 * x' * y' ], where r' = sqrt( x'^2 + y'^2 ), and finally that u = fx * x'' + cx, v = fy * y'' + cy. As one can see these expressions are not equivalent to those presented in #1, with the result that the two sets of corrected coordinates ( xcorrected, ycorrected ) and ( u, v ) are not the same. Why the contradiction? It seems to me the first set makes more sense as I can attach physical meaning to each and every x and y in there, while I find no physical meaning in x' = X / Z and y' = Y / Z when the camera focal length is not exactly 1. Furthermore, one cannot compute x' and y' for we don't know (X, Y, Z). (3) Unfortunately, things get even murkier when we refer to the writings in Intel's Open Source Computer Vision Library Reference Manual's section Lens Distortion (page 6-4), which states in part: "Let ( u, v ) be true pixel image coordinates, that is, coordinates with ideal projection, and ( u ~, v ~ ) be corresponding real observed (distorted) image coordinates. Similarly, ( x, y ) are ideal (distortion-free) and ( x ~, y ~ ) are real (distorted) image physical coordinates. Taking into account two expansion terms gives the following: x ~ = x * ( 1 + k1 * r^2 + k2 * r^4 ) + [ 2 p1 * x * y + p2 * ( r^2 + 2 * x^2 ) ] y ~ = y * ( 1 + k1 * r^2 + k2 * r^4 ] + [ 2 p2 * x * y + p2 * ( r^2 + 2 * y^2 ) ], where r = sqrt( x^2 + y^2 ). ... "Because u ~ = cx + fx * u and v ~ = cy + fy * v , … the resultant system can be rewritten as follows: u ~ = u + ( u – cx ) * [ k1 * r^2 + k2 * r^4 + 2 * p1 * y + p2 * ( r^2 / x + 2 * x ) ] v ~ = v + ( v – cy ) * [ k1 * r^2 + k2 * r^4 + 2 * p2 * x + p1 * ( r^2 / y + 2 * y ) ] The latter relations are used to undistort images from the camera." Well, it would appear that the expressions involving x ~ and y ~ coincided with the two expressions given at the top of this writing involving xcorrected and ycorrected. However, x ~ and y ~ do not refer to corrected coordinates, according to the given description. I don't understand the distinction between the meaning of the coordinates ( x ~, y ~ ) and ( u ~, v ~ ), or for that matter, between the pairs ( x, y ) and ( u, v ). From their descriptions it appears their only distinction is that ( x ~, y ~ ) and ( x, y ) refer to 'physical' coordinates while ( u ~, v ~ ) and ( u, v ) do not. What is this distinction all about? Aren't they all physical coordinates? I'm lost! Thanks for any input!

• Adding interactions to admin pages generated by the admin generator

  I am using Symfony 1.2.9 (with Propel ORM) to create a website. I have started using the admin generator to implement the admin functionality. I have come accross a slight 'problem' however. My models are related (e.g. one table may have several 1:N relations and N:N relations). I have not found a way to address this satisfactorily yet. As a tactical solution (for list views), I have decided to simply show the parent object, and then add interactions to show the related objects. I'll use a Blog model to illustrate this. Here are the relationships for a blog model: N:M relationship with Blogroll (models a blog roll) 1:N relationship with Blogpost (models a post submitted to a blog) I had originally intended on displaying the (paged) blogpost list for a blog,, when it was selected, using AJAX, but I am struggling enough with the admin generator as it is, so I have shelved that idea - unless someone is kind enough to shed some light on how to do this. Instead, what I am now doing (as a tactical/interim soln), is I have added interactions to the list view which allow a user to: View a list of the blog roll for the blog on that row View a list of the posts for the blog on that row Add a post for the blog on tha row In all of the above, I have written actions that will basically forward the request to the approriate action (admin generated). However, I need to pass some parameters (like the blog id etc), so that the correct blog roll or blog post list etc is returned. I am sure there is a better way of doing what I want to do, but in case there isn't here are my questions: How may I obtain the object that relates to a specific row (of the clicked link) in the list view (e.g. the blog object in this example) Once I have the object, I may choose to extract various fields: id etc. How can I pass these arguments to the admin generated action ? I remember reading about marking certain actions as internal. i.e. callable from only within the app. I wonder if that would be useful in this instance?

• Rails routing to XML/JSON without views gone mad

  I have a mystifying problem. In a very simple Ruby app i have three classes: Drivers, Jobs and Vehicles. All three classes only consist of Id and Name. All three classes have the same #index and #show methods and only render in JSON or XML (this is in fact true for all their CRUD methods, they are identical in everything but name). There are no views. For example: def index @drivers= Driver.all respond_to do |format| format.js { render :json => @drivers} format.xml { render :xml => @drivers} end end def show @driver = Driver.find(params[:id]) respond_to do |format| format.js { render :json => @driver} format.xml { render :xml => @driver} end end The models are similarly minimalistic and only contain: class Driver< ActiveRecord::Base validates_presence_of :name end In routes.rb I have: map.resources :drivers map.resources :jobs map.resources :vehicles map.connect ':controller/:action/:id' map.connect ':controller/:action/:id.:format' I can perform POST/create, GET/index and PUT/update on all three classes and GET/read used to work as well until I installed the "has many polymorphs" ActiveRecord plugin and added to environment.rb: require File.join(File.dirname(__FILE__), 'boot') require 'has_many_polymorphs' require 'active_support' Now for two of the three classes I cannot do a read any more. If i go to localhost:3000/drivers they all list nicely in XML but if i go to localhost:3000/drivers/3 I get an error: Processing DriversController#show (for 127.0.0.1 at 2009-06-11 20:34:03) [GET] Parameters: {"id"=>"3"} [4;36;1mDriver Load (0.0ms)[0m [0;1mSELECT * FROM "drivers" WHERE ("drivers"."id" = 3) [0m ActionView::MissingTemplate (Missing template drivers/show.erb in view path app/views): app/controllers/drivers_controller.rb:14:in `show' ...etc This is followed a by another unexpected error: Processing ApplicationController#show (for 127.0.0.1 at 2009-06-11 21:35:52)[GET] Parameters: {"id"=>"3"} NameError (uninitialized constant ApplicationController::AreaAccessDenied): ...etc What is going on here? Why does the same code work for one class but not the other two? Why is it trying to do a #view on the ApplicationController? I found that if I create a simple HTML view for each of the three classes these work fine. To each class I add: format.html # show.html.erb With this in place, going to localhost:3000/drivers/3 renders out the item in HTML and I get no errors in the log. But if attach .xml to the URL it again fails for two of the classes (with the same error message as before) while one will output XML as expected. Even stranger, on the two failing classes, when adding .js to the URL (to trigger JSON rendering) I get the HTML output instead! Is it possible this has something to do with the "has many polymorphs" plugin? I have heard of people having routing issues after installing it. Removing "has many polymorphs" and "active support" from environment.rb (and rebooting the sever) seems to make no difference whatsoever. Yet my problems started after it was installed. I've spent a number of hours on this problem now and am starting to get a little desperate, Google turns up virtually no information which makes me suspect I must have missed something elementary. The only way I can tell it did not run was that it returns a dataset with 0 tables in it. But when investigating the error it is not appearant that the procedure does not exist. EDIT Upon further investigation command.Connection.FireInfoMessageEventOnUserErrors = true; is causeing the error to be surpressed into the InfoMessage Event From BOL When you set FireInfoMessageEventOnUserErrors to true, errors that were previously treated as exceptions are now handled as InfoMessage events. All events fire immediately and are handled by the event handler. If is FireInfoMessageEventOnUserErrors is set to false, then InfoMessage events are handled at the end of the procedure. What I want is each print statement from Sql to create a new log record. Setting this property to false combines it as one big string. So if I leave the property set to true, now the question is can I discern a print message from an Error ANOTHER EDIT So now I have the code so that the flag is set to true and checking the error number in the method void Connection_InfoMessage(object sender, SqlInfoMessageEventArgs e) { // These are not really errors unless the Number >0 // if Number = 0 that is a print message foreach (SqlError sql in e.Errors) { if (sql.Number == 0) { Logger.WriteInfo("Sql Message",sql.Message); } else { // Whatever this was it was an error throw new DataException(String.Format("Message={0},Line={1},Number={2},State{3}", sql.Message, sql.LineNumber, sql.Number, sql.State)); } } } The issue now that when I throw the error it does not bubble up to the statement that made the call or even the error handler that is above that. • Isn't it better to use a single try catch instead of tons of TryParsing and other error handling sometimes?

  I know people say it's bad to use exceptions for flow control and to only use exceptions for exceptional situations, but sometimes isn't it just cleaner and more elegant to wrap the entire block in a try-catch? For example, let's say I have a dialog window with a TextBox where the user can type input in to be parsed in a key-value sort of manner. This situation is not as contrived as you might think because I've inherited code that has to handle this exact situation (albeit not with farm animals). A lot of things can go wrong though. The user could enter in the wrong number of parameters. The user can enter the input in an incorrect format. The user could specify numbers too large or too small for the data type to handle. All these different errors could be handled without exceptions through the use of TryParse, checking how many parameters the user tried to use for a specific animal, checking if the parameter is too large or too small for the data type (because TryParse just returns 0), but every one should result in the same thing: A MessageBox appearing telling the user that the inputted data is invalid and to fix it. My boss doesn't want different message boxes for different errors. So instead of doing all that, why not just wrap the block in a try-catch and in the catch statement just display that error message box and let the user try again? Maybe this isn't the best example but think of any other scenario where there would otherwise be tons of error handling that could be substituted for a single try-catch. Is that not the better solution?

• Is there a way to delay compilation of a stored procedure's execution plan?

My example here is ridiculously abstracted, so I doubt it will be possible to recreate locally, but it provides context for my question (Also, I'm running SQL Server 2005). I have a stored procedure with basically two steps, constructing a temp table, populating it with very few rows, and then querying a very large table joining against that temp table. It has multiple parameters, but the most relevant is a datetime "@MinDate." Essentially: create table #smallTable (ID int) insert into #smallTable select (a very small number of rows from some other table) select * from aGiantTable inner join #smallTable on #smallTable.ID = aGiantTable.ID inner join anotherTable on anotherTable.GiantID = aGiantTable.ID where aGiantTable.SomeDateField > @MinDate If I just execute this as a normal query, by declaring @MinDate as a local variable and running that, it produces an optimal execution plan that executes very quickly (first joins on #smallTable and then only considers a very small subset of rows from aGiantTable while doing other operations). It seems to realize that #smallTable is tiny, so it would be efficient to start with it. This is good. However, if I make that a stored procedure with @MinDate as a parameter, it produces a completely inefficient execution plan. (I am recompiling it each time, so it's not a bad cached plan...at least, I sure hope it's not) But here's where it gets weird. So my theory is this: when executing as a plain query (not as a stored procedure), it waits to construct the execution plan for the expensive query until the last minute, so the query optimizer knows that #smallTable is small and uses that information to give the efficient plan. But when executing as a stored procedure, it creates the entire execution plan at once, thus it can't use this bit of information to optimize the plan. But why does using the locally declared variables change this? Why does that delay the creation of the execution plan? Is that actually what's happening? If so, is there a way to force delayed compilation (if that indeed is what's going on here) even when not using local variables in this way? More generally, does anyone have sources on when the execution plan is created for each step of a stored procedure? Googling hasn't provided any helpful information, but I don't think I'm looking for the right thing. Or is my theory just completely unfounded? Edit: Since posting, I've learned of parameter sniffing, and I assume this is what's causing the execution plan to compile prematurely (unless stored procedures indeed compile all at once), so my question remains -- can you force the delay? Or disable the sniffing entirely? The question is academic, since I can force a more efficient plan by replacing the select * from aGiantTable with select * from (select * from aGiantTable where ID in (select ID from #smallTable)) as aGiantTable Or just sucking it up and masking the parameters, but still, this inconsistency has me pretty curious.

  Im using devise with a rails 4 application. Authentication works fine on most devices, including some old feature phones. I am however running into problems with the Nokia Lumia. • MVC using ODP.NET getting ORA-01840

  I am writing a simple MVC Application using ODP.NET. I am trying to call a Pl/Sql proc that inserts a record. I would really appreciate an example too. Thanks so much! ps, I did try changing the parm type to Varchar2 in the Pl/Sql and doing some conversions myself in the Pl/Sql, the automatic MVC binder was getting in my way, forcing the property of paramInsertedOn.OracleType to DateTime. This code runs fine on all emulators and PDAs running WM 5 and 6. We have seen an issue with a couple of customers running Treo smartphones (and only on the Sprint network). We have tested the code on an identical device on the AT&T network (via DeviceAnywhere) and once again the code worked as we expected. This has to be some sort of security policy on the phone, but we've been unable to determine a workaround or diagnose it thoroughly as we cannot reproduce it in house and have had to resort to getting users to assist with running test drivers for us. When this code executes, the user's device throws the following exception: System.Net.WebException Could not establish secure channel for SSL/TLS Stack trace: at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.finishGetRequestStream() at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetRequestStream() at OurApp.GetResponseStream(String domain, Hashtable parameters) inner exception: System.IO.IOException Authentication failed because the remote party has closed the transport stream. Stack trace: at System.Net.SslConnectionState.ClientSideHandshake() at System.Net.SslConnectionState.PerformClientHandShake() at System.Net.Connection.connect(Object ignored) at System.Threading.ThreadPool.WorkItem.doWork(Object o) at System.Threading.Timer.ring() Examining the server Apache logs shows no hits from the user's IP - I don't think the device is even attempting to send a packet before failing. If relevant, the server is running Apache on Linux and is written using the TurboGears Python framework. The server certificate is issued by a CA and is still valid. The test driver where this error was copied from was not code signed, however the same error (without the error messages) is signed with a GeoTrust certificate so we don't believe this is a code signing issue. The application installs and launches without issue on all phones - it's just establishing this SSL connection that is breaking for these users. One significant issue in troubleshooting is that there is a substantial inconvenience each time we try out a solution (need to find a "volunteer" customer), so we're really looking for a silver bullet or a better understanding of the handshaking process so we can be reasonably confident we only need to ask the user to test it one or two more times. One final mention: we have tried the sync both over ActiveSync and also over GPRS with identical results. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

• Make wix installation set upgrade to same folder

  How can I make a major upgrade to an installation set (MSI) built with Wix install into the same folder as the original installation? The installation is correctly detected as an upgrade, but the directory selection screen is still shown and with the default value (not necessarily the current installation folder). Do I have to do manual work like saving the installation folder in a registry key upon first installing and then read this key upon upgrade? If so, is there any example? Or is there some easier way to achieve this in MSI / Wix?
