• Automating MySQL configuration with kickstart

  I've been testing deployment for a website with some virtual servers. I have most of my deployment steps done via kickstart file (package installation and user creation). However, for MySQL I have to: Run mysql_secure_installation (sets up root password, deletes anonymous users, disallows root login remotely, removes test databases) ./ Then, create the website's databases and the database user. I'm not sure if this is possible in kickstart---especially the prompts in mysql_secure_installation. Perhaps someone has some suggestions or examples?

• Encrypt client connection with squid forward proxy using SSL

  I'm setting up a Squid forward proxy and I'm wondering if I could configure Squid in such a way that the connection from my web browser to squid is https regardless of whether the connection from squid to the destination website is http or https. In other words, I want my connection from my web browser to my forward proxy to be encrypted even though I'm just surfing normal http website through that proxy. Can it be done?

• Windows 2003 Server Caching

  We're experiencing almost everyday table index corruption on Windows Server 2003. We are running an old application which uses DBF/CDX tables. Everything was fine for ages, but 6 months after we've installed Advantage Database Server (which allows access to some tables to our website) we started to get index corruption problems. And we don't know whom to blame. We've tried to exclude all possible causes of this corruption. Now all users work in terminal mode - so no network problems can cause that, OpLocks also can't be a reason. We changed hardware, network cards, switches, reainstalled Server and even moved to new dedicated server. The only thing we can't exclude is ADS - because it should be working. Is that possible that local read/write caching that causes that problem? E.g. one user or process uses cached data, later another user/process changes it, and later the first user changes it again without knowing about the first change. Is it possible theoretically? Is it possible that this problem is caused by imporper file server or caching settings? Is it possible that normal users use non-cached data and ADS is using cached data? Or vice versa? Is it possible that each terminal user has its own cache? Or maybe the problem is about RAID caching somehow interfering with Windows Server caching? Or maybe there are some special settings for Windows Server for working with DBF tables that are being written simultaneously by several terminal users? Maybe there is a way to turn off caching for some certain files to check it? Sometimes we get index crash twice a day, sometimes everything is fine for 5 days in a row. Today only one user was working in the evening with the database (usually there are 30-50 users are working simultaneously on working hours). So it's almost zero load on server. , Syncronization with website is performed every 5 minutes during work hours and every 15 minutes in the evening and on weekend. We've done file access auditing and it shows that during website syncroniztions ADS server opens the table and index files for ReadEA and WriteEA though it performs only SELECT queries. ADS does UPDATE/INSERT queries but less freqently - not during regular synchronizations, but only when an order is placed by website visitor). Please help me. We are struggling with this problem for almost a year and still can't find any pattern or any clue about this problem. • How to download batch of randomly named files

  I need to download a bunch of files from a website but I don't want to have to click on each file to add it to downloadall or whatever. The structure of the website is as follows: http://something.com/katalog/?get=Exclusive/group1/2012.09.03/ The directory has loads of randomly named files with .doc extensions. I can't use the batch feature because the files don't start or end with the same characters e.g. 001...100. Any ideas/

• Set default page to virtual directory in IIS 6

  I have two applications, one of which is a store and is located under the virtual directory "store", while the main "application" is the parent website/application. However, when visiting the the top-level website address, I would like to start people in /store/default.aspx (technically "/store/home") but this is not allowed in the entry box in IIS. Currently I am doing the redirect manually in code, but was wondering if there was a way to do this in IIS or something. Thanks for any help.

• where to get an IBM jre for 64-bit Windows?

  I know this is stupid: I couldn't find anything from IBM website about where to download an IBM jre (specifically, IBM jre1.6.0 J9 2.4 SR6) for a 64-bit Windows OS. Google takes me to a link which looks similar, but that jre would only work on an IBM product, I assume their own server/workstation or something like that. So I've been stuck by this for quite some time... I couldn't believe there is no such a "previous version repository" or something similar on IBM website :( Thanks for any suggestion in advance.

  I am trying to set up Single sign on for 2 websites that reside on the same domain e.g. http://mydomain (top level site that contains a forms-auth login page) http://mydomain/admin (seperately developed website residing in a Virtual Application within the parent website) Have read a few articles on Single Sign on e.g. http://www.codeproject.com/KB/aspnet/SingleSignon.aspx And they seem to suggest it is just a case of having the same machinekey section in each web.config so that the cookie encryprion and decryption is the same for each application I have set this up and I never get prompted for credentials in the sub-website (the virtual application) I always get prompted in the parent site. In addition to having the same machinekey I've also tried adding the same <authentication> and <authorisation> elements Any idea what I could be missing?

• Base URL in ASP.net Master Pages with virtual Directories

  Hi All, I have an ASP.net master page. In this master, I have all my css and javascript files defined. I also have a few images and a few buttons and hyperlinks. All the urls are all declared as relative ie "/scripts/ian.js" Everything works fine if this site is the root website, but I need it to work in a virtual directory. My problem is when I place this website in a virtual directory under a root site, all my links are pointing to the root site. so my links point to www.root.com/scripts/ian.js but it should be pointing to www.root.com/virtualDir/scripts/ian.js I thought the Base Href tag in the header would help, but so far it does not seem to be helping in anyway. All the links are still pointing to the root website when i hover over them. Any suggestions or ideas are welcome. Thanks

  Hi, I have a website and my users can browse the website for general information. If user wants to post any data, they need to register in the website. At the time of registration (in registration form) they can upload their photo. Once registration process is completed they can even modify the previously uploaded photo. My users are facing problem while they uploading their photo at the time of registration. I have given write permission to uploading files folder. But it is giving "Access denied" error. There should be a provision to upload files with or without logging into application. How can we achieve this?

  Lets say we have a website that uses a web service for all of its functionality (i.e. retrieving and updating data from/to db), how does the web service authenticate requests? As I understand it, in a traditional java "website" a user provides a username & password, and upon validation a jsessionid is assigned to the user (client browser). Every time the client browser asks the website for something, the site checks for the jsessionid ensuring that the user is registered and authenticated. Is there a web services equivalent of this? If yes, what?

• Adding rows to UItableview and passing data between Viewcontrollers

  I have a list of websites in a plist, when the app loads this populates a tableview (which is inside a navigation controller) But I have added an add button to the navigation bar and then created another View Controller to deal with inputting of the new website (Like Title and URL). It is very similar to how the contacts app looks. There is a table view and when you tap add, the add UI slides up. I have got all this working great so far. My Problem is what happens when the user taps Done. I can add the website to the plist (each website is a dictionary in the plist with 2 keys, atm) But then how do I tell the tableView to update? The table view has not been removed from the main window, just the add view has been added on top of the "screen". Another way of asking is, when you tap Save on Add a Contact screen: (not my image) How does the new contact's data (Xyz's data) get shown on the tableview?

• Cufon JS is not loading

  I've developed a website in html/css and it works perfectly fine. Now I'm working with the coder, integrating this to a .NET framework, changing the website to .apsx instead of html, but during the build of the website, the only error that is marked is the load of Cufon , it simply can't load and the structure and syntax of all the commands are the same I used with the html site that actually works. There are no path problems so far. What do you guys think would be this problem ? Thank you for your kind help.

• Searching for a Kohana Beginner's Tutorial for PHP

  I am going to try to build a PHP website using a framework for the first time, and after some research here and there, I've decided to try to use Kohana I downloaded the source from their website, and ran the downloaded stuff on my web server, and was then greeted with a 'Welcome to Kohana!' page, and nothing more... I've tried to find some beginner tutorials on the web as regard this particular framework, but to my surprise, came up with almost nothing (only this one, but it's not a great deal of help) I am not new to PHP and neither am I new to the MVC concept, but I am very new to PHP Frameworks...so can anyone point me to a Kohana tutorial somewhere on the web that will help me get started in building my website using this framework, from scratch ? P.S. As I said, I want a beginners tutorial as regarding this case. [UPDATE] I am currently reading the Official Guide...we'll see how that goes.
