• What server log file(with Centos5) must I check to locate specific IP activity?

  Hi! I leasing a dedi server under Centos5, just recently I ve setup a blog website that grabs feeds from other news websites and presents them on my blog. Some days after I see high server loads that cant be coming just from the cron jobs that I run every now and then to grab feeds from other websites for my blog website. Thats why I m trying to pico some log files in order to have a better look the whole problem. These last days I noticed(from statscounter service) the same IP address visiting my blog website many times per day so I want to find out what us trying to do. I tried looking in all /var/log log files and httpd too but no luck. Is there any other log file I should open or any other procedure to track this IP acivity on server?

  I'm working on a sports website and need to convert the server's match start time to local match start time. After much googling, I figured the fastest and most accurate way is to get the GMT offset value in JavaScript. The trouble is, I can't pass the GMT offset value to PHP. I've tried using both the PHP session and cookie variables, but both are always empty. The website doesn't require a user account, so there isn't any stored GMT value in the database. I'm trying to auto-detect each user's local timezone every time he/she visits the website, and then calculate the local match start time based on the timezone offset. Can someone please advise me? • How do I program a hyperlink to include a username and password to the target site?

  We have a website with a section restricted to members only. They log in and can view the website. Some of the information is stored on another server. We want that information to ONLY be accessible to those who have logged into the main website. What would be the best way to link the two sites, without making members log in again? Seems like there must be some way to send an encrypted username and password along with the URL in the hyperlink. Any ideas? Thank you in advance. Fred G.

  I'm diving into web development and I built my personal website using Ruby on Rails 3.1 and I'd like to add a blog to it. Octopress sounds really awesome, and it's written in Ruby, but I can't find a single resource online that discusses integrating Octopress into a Rails app. I know that's not what it was designed for, but I'm amazed there's no discussion on it considering the popularity of these two technologies. The only resources I can find are discussions on using Octopress to create a stand-alone blog website. How can I integrate Octopress into my existing Rails 3.1 app? Can I set it up as a stand-alone website and integrate it as a sub-domain? Other suggestions? Thanks so much in advance for your wisdom!

  Hello, At the wordpress form, when you leave comment as guest, there's a website field to fill your web address. If we fill in that box, we can get the link by calling this function <?php echo get_comment_author_link(); ?> But if you are logged in and you don't add the website at your profile, when you leave comment. It doesn't have the link on your username. What I want is, if the logged-in user doesn't have the website, there will be the link which will be carry them to their profile page which is something like http://www.example.com?author=21 Is there any function that i can use out there ? Please help me out. Thank you.

• Noob here, but wanting to try and make my own app.

  Hi all, I have a small amount of programing experience with Siemens and Allen Bradley but would like to make my own app for a certain website I frequent. I would like the website to be a little more user friendly for me instead of having to open browser etc. Is it possible to have a simple forum translated into a widget so you can see the forum posts and post from there?   I've built a UserRepository interface to communicate with my LINQ to SQL Data layer, but I'm trying to figure out how to implement validation.   I have a very dynamic / ajax powered website which also includes iframes and due this reason I have a very bad SEO rank and it come in my mind to make one more additional version of the site (text based / no script) and serve it to the search engines based on the user agent . Please let me know if you think that is a feasible method and if it's not what else would you recommend me to do .. • Redirecting image to php page.

  Hi, Is it possible to redirect a user to a php page and then redirect to different image, if the user is requesting for the image ? For example if user requests for the image or if other website requests for the image, it should be redirected to the php page and then redirected to a different image. Like if other website requests for http://example.com/images/a.gif, the website will get a different image i.e. http://example.com/images/b.gif. Is it possible? Let me know if I am not clear with my problem. Thanks. Edit : I am trying to create avatar changer for a forum, but the problem is that I cannot add a php link to my avatar. So I think if I could add a image link and when the forum requests the image I could redirect it internally to a php page and then from the php page I would redirect it to a different image.

• References not shown in visual studio

  Hi, I have an ASP.NET 3.5 website project, where I have added a few assemblies. When I look in the bin folder in visual studio the references are not shown, but if I go to the references in the property pages for the website they are shown as GAC. Shouldn't dll's in GAC be shown under references for a website project in visual studio? The core problem is that I am getting an error that System.Core could not be loaded. The dll-file is shown under references under the project pages, but is not shown under bin in visual studio.

• App.config path not correctly interpreted by ASP.NET Application

  Hello everyone ! I'm working on a very old project (2000) in VB6 which was "modernized" and upgraded to VB.NET 3.5. I've centralized every old INI configuration file into one MainApp.config, which is referenced by the app.config of every component. There's an VB ASP.NET website in the solution, which uses DLL components, which are looking into app.config for parameters like, say, error log directory, etc. I've deployed the site on my dev. server (Windows 2008 Server w/ IIS 7.0) into the D:\WebSite\ directory. Problem: When running the site, an error occurs. A DLL is looking into app.config for the parameter RepertoireErreur which has the value .\Erreurs\ Instead of returning D:\WebSite\Erreurs\ it returns c:\windows\system32\inetsrv\.\Erreurs\ which doesn't contain the Erreurs directory. Boom. Error. Does anyone have ever encountered the same problem ? Is there a solution ? Thanks,

  I have a local neo4j database server and I want to build a web interface using javascript. Ideally I want to do all the querying and display the result client side for the website. I am mostly a Java programmer and unfortunately don't have much experience with Javascript. How can I do a cypher query from the website and return the result in a format which I can display easily in a table for example? I have seen examples of doing the querying server side with servlets or node.js but really would like to just have the neo4j server and the website client. • URL losing port number in every page load

  I'm currently taking care of a certain local website. The default port has been changed, and can no longer be not included in the URL due to technical reasons, so now i'm using a certain port in the end of the IP at the URL, for example 100.100.100.100/website.asp no longer works 100.100.100.100:10/website.asp with the port, works. Works, though I can't click in any link or anything and the port vanishes (new page doesn't load). Then I keep the same URL and just include the port at the end of the IP and it works again, until I click in another link inside of it. I have access to changing each link, but I guess that would not be the right approach. How should I procceed ?

Its like I am not running the website from visual studio at all. And then sometimes I restart my PC, and it comes back to normal. • Drupal, installation to new web server... problems with Views exposed filter

  hi, I've moved my drupal installation to a new website (without clean urls support). I'm using a View to display the content of my website with exposed filter (tags multi-selection) When I click on one of the tags something strange happen on the new website.. Even if I select only 1 tag, I get urls like this: http://.../drupal/?tid[]=67&tid[]=66&view_name=Portfolio&view_display_id=page_1&view_args=&view_path=portfolio&view_base_path=portfolio&view_dom_id=1&pager_element=0 instead of the normal url: http://www.sanstitre.ch/drupal/portfolio?tid[0]=67 could you give me some tip ? thanks

  I have a linux server, and I am about to upload a classifieds website to it. The website is php based. That means php code adds/removes classifieds, with the help of the users offcourse. The php-code then adds/removes a classified to a database index called Solr (like MySql). Problem is that anybody can currently access the database, but I only want the website to access the database (solr). Solr is on port 8983 as standard btw. My Q is, if I add a rule in my firewall (iptables), to only allow connections coming from the servers IP to the Solr port nr, would this solve my issue? Thanks

  Hi experts, I am developing my application in asp.net 3.5 and sql server 2005, and I want to record the visitor info into my database, like once the visitor enter my website, I'll insert his browser details to the database. [It's not necessary that visitor login my website]. Now I am confused where to put my code, If I put insert function in every page_load then on every page it will execute and I'll not be able to get the exact number of visitor, visited my website.
