• Problem loading Oracle client libraries when running in a NAnt build

  I am trying to use dbdeploy to manage Oracle schema changes. I can run it successfully from the command line to get it to generate my change scripts, but when I try to execute it via the dbdeploy NAnt task running through TeamCity, I get an error: System.Data.OracleClient requires Oracle client software version 8.1.7 or greater. I do have the Oracle 10.2.0.2 client software installed. It's the first entry in the system path, and the dbdeploy.exe app is able to successfully negotiate an Oracle connection. The dbdeploy code dynamically loads the System.Data.OracleClient assembly, which in-turn tries to use the Oracle client bits to talk to the database. This is what is failing in my NAnt environment. • Can't install ruby-debug-ide on Windows 7

  I'm running netbeans 6.8 on windows 7 pro (x64) with the bitnami stack and I'm using ruby 1.8.7-p72. Note: I can't change the version of ruby I am using because I am working with a team, this is a college project and we have only 3 weeks left before we have to hand it in. Changing the version of ruby at this time would be too much work I think. I can't debug my code with the IDE. It says I must have the fast-debugger installed but I cannot install it. When I try through the gui I get the following message: Building native extensions. This could take a while... ERROR: Error installing ruby-debug-ide: ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension. "C:/Program Files/BitNami RubyStack/ruby/bin/ruby.exe" mkrf_conf.rb Building native extensions. This could take a while... Gem files will remain installed in C:/Program Files/BitNami RubyStack/ruby/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/ruby-debug-ide-0.4.8 for inspection. Results logged to C:/Program Files/BitNami RubyStack/ruby/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/ruby-debug-ide-0.4.8/ext/gem_make.out I have tracked the problem down to a gcc not being installed... I have installed cygwin but I'm not sure what I am doing and it's still not working... Anyone know how to fix this problem? (BTW- I have already done a lot of googling on this)

I have search all over the web and tried every possible suggestion to this error I could find. 1. delete app_code, build, add files back, publish. • Can I encrypt web.config with a custom protection provider who's assembly is not in the GAC?

  I have written a custom protected configuration provider for my web.config. When I try to encrypt my web.config with it I get the following error from aspnet_iisreg aspnet_regiis.exe -pef appSettings . -prov CustomProvider (This is running in my MSBuild) Could not load file or assembly 'MyCustomProviderNamespace' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. After checking with the Fusion log, I confirm it is checking both the GAC, and 'C:/WINNT/Microsoft.NET/Framework/v2.0.50727/' (the location of aspnet_iisreg). But it cannot find the provider. I do not want to move my component into the GAC, I want to leave the custom assembly in my ApplicationBase to copy around to various servers without having to pull/push from the GAC. Here is my provider configuration in the web.config. <configProtectedData> <providers> <add name="CustomProvider" type="MyCustomProviderNamespace.MyCustomProviderClass, MyCustomProviderNamespace" /> </providers> </configProtectedData> I want aspnet_iisreg to check my ApplicationBase Bin folder for this assembly.   Problem VS2010 and TFS2010 support creating so-called Coded UI Tests. All the demos I have found, start with the WPF application already running in the background when the Coded UI Test begins or the EXE is started using the absolute path to it. I, however, would like to start my WPF application under test from the unit test code. That way it'll also work on the build server and on my peer's working copies. How do I accomplish that? My discoveries so far a) This post shows how to start a XAML window. But that's not what I want. I want to start the App.xaml because it contains XAML resources and there is application logic in the code behind file. b) The second screenshot on this post shows a line starting with ApplicationUnterTest calculatorWindow = ApplicationUnderTest.Launch(...); which is conceptually pretty much what I am looking for, except that again this example uses an absolute path the the executable file. c) A Google search for "Programmatically start WPF" didn't help either.

• Connecting git to github on windows 7 without bash

  I'm setting up git on my new Windows 7 machine and I'm hitting a roadblock when it comes to getting github to acknowledge my ssh key. I am doing things a little different from the standard script in that I would rather not use cygwin and prefer to use my powershell prompt. The following is what I did: I installed msysgit (portable). I went to C:\program files\git\bin and used ssh-keygen to generate a public/private ssh keypair which I put in c:\Temp I then created a directory named .ssh\ in c:\Users\myusername\ (on windows 7) I moved both the files generated by the ssh-keygen (id_rsa and id_rsa.pub) into the .ssh directory I went to my account on github, created a new public key, copy-pasted the contents of id_rsa.pub into it and saved I now go to my powershell prompt, set-alias git 'C:\program files\git\bin\git.exe' I try to now do a clone [email protected]:togakangaroo/ps-profile.git which rejects my authentication: Permission denied (publickey). fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly Past experience says that this means git is not recognizing my key. What steps am I missing? I have a feeling that I need to somehow configure git so that it knows where my ssh keys are (though it would seem it should look there automatically) but I don't know how to do that. Another possible clue is that when I try to run git config --global user.name "George Mauer" I get an error fatal: $HOME not set I did however set up a HOME environment user variable with the value %HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%

  Here's what I've done... I used wsdl.exe to create a .cs class for my wsdl service connection. I made a Visual Studio project to compile the .cs into a dll having namespace CalculatorService (CalculatorService.dll). Successful thus far. I created an asp.net project added my namespace import: %@ Import Namespace="CalculatorService" % I right-clicked on the project, clicked Add Reference, found my .dll, added it, built the project, checked /bin to ensure my dll was there (and it was). % 'I called the namespace:' Dim calcService As New CalculatorService.CalculatorService() 'called the function from the service' Dim xmlResult = calcService.GetSVS_ItemTable_XML("", "", "", "", "", "") 'printed the result' Response.Write(xmlResult) % All is well LOCALLY while debugging. It found the CalculatorService, connected to it, got the XML and displayed it. I then wanted to put it on the web so I built and published my project: under "Copy" - Only files needed to run this application...selected! • Create an ASMX web service from a WSDL file

  I have a WSDL file and I am trying to create a web service that conforms to the WSDL. I've created clients using WSDL files that consume an existing service, but I've never created a web service that needed to follow a specific WSDL. I've gone as far as using: wsdl.exe mywsdl.wsdl /l:VB /serverInterface Now I've got a .vb file generated from that WSDL. However I am not sure what I'm supposed to do with this VB file. It looks like it's got a public interface in there but no class that implements the interface. It also has a bunch of partial classes for the types in the WSDL. I was expecting there to be some sort of stub where I put in the code to complete the service calls. I've only created simple web services before and none of them used public interfaces so I'm unfamiliar with what is going on here. At this point I'm not sure how I use the generated .vb file and make it work with an .asmx file and what additional coding is needed to complete the interface.

  in Canada, website SSL certificates can be had for as low as US$10. unfortunately, code signing certificates cost about 10 time as much, one website mentions Vista compatibility ... this seems strange because my assumption is they must support XP, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2003, and Server 2008 or they would be useless. https://secure.ksoftware.net/code_signing.html US$99 Support Platforms Microsoft Authenticode. Sign any Microsoft executable format (32 and 64 bit EXE, DLL, OCX, DLL or any Active X control). Signing hardware drivers is not currently supported. Abode AIR. Sign any Adobe AIR application. Java. Sign any JAR applet Microsoft Office. Sign any MS Office Macro or VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) file. Mozilla. Sign any Mozilla Object file. The implication is that a single code signing certificate can do ALL of the above. ksoftware actually discounts Commodo certificates and the Commode website is unclear. QUESTION: Will ONE code signing certificate be enough or do I need one for Microsoft executables, and a second for things like Word and Excel macros? my main goal is to sign things like vs2008 code snippets so that I can export them securely; however, I would like to be able to use the same code signing certificate for signing other items too. • Crazy idea: Connect .NET and SAP with SAP JCo using IKVM.NET

  Because the SAP Connector for .NET is no longer maintained by SAP, I am now looking for an alternative to connect the Microsoft world with the SAP world. I know there a third party products like ERPConnect, but I want to do this with tools from SAP. Therefore there arised the crazy idea to use the SAP Java Connector in combination with the tool IKVM.NET (www.ikvm.net/devguide/net2java.html). IKVM.NET provides The IKVMC tool, which converts Java bytecode to .NET dll's and exe's. "No sooner said than done!" I converted the SAP JCo to .NET dlls and created a new Visual Studio solution. I put all the JCO files into a subdirectory of my solution. I set 2 references to the generated IKVM.OpenJDK.Core.dll and sapjco.dll. Great, all JCO classes where now available as .NET classes. Full of optimism I wrote some little code to connect to a SAP system. JCO.Client client = null; client = JCO.createClient(...) The compiliation of my testcode had no errors. "Wonderful !" I thought. Then I started my tetstapplication. Unfortunately I got an exception calling JCO.createClient: Could not load middleware layer 'com.sap.mw.jco.rfc.MiddlewareRFC'\r\nno sapjcorfc in java.library.path I have 2 questions on this topic. 1) Do you think my idea using SAP Java Connector to connect .NET with SAP is a good idea or is it nonsens ? Perhaps someone had already the same idea ;-) 2) How can the above exception be solved ?

• fmod VS2008 unresolved externals in dependant project

  Im currently trying to use the latest stable fmod ex in my project. I have a main executable in a project called engine4, and a project named DX9Platform in the solution as well which ti depends on. All the fmod code is in this DX9Platform project, which generates a lib file. DX9Platform includes fmodex_vc.lib and builds fine. However buildign Engien4 results in unresolved external symbol messages referencing files that use fmod in the DX9Platform project I have tried adding fmodex_vc.lib to the Engine4 project, with no success, how do I fix this? • Android SDK fails to install

  When I try to install the android SDK it fails to install. My OS is Windows XP I just downloaded and installed Java JDK 1.6 Java -version from the command line returns: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/ask java version "1.6.0_17" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_17-b04) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 14.3-b01, mixed mode, sharing) My environment vars have: JAVA_HOME=c:\progra~1\java\jdk1.6.0_11 I downloaded android-sdk-r04-windows.zip I unziped it in V:\AndroidInstall\ When I go to the V:\androindinstall\android-sdk-windows and type "SDK Install.exe" nothing happens... If I go this from graph When I do this from a graphical file viewer I get a quick flash that looks like a command line window and nothing.... When I try to run android list targets from the tool directory I get: Error: Error parsing the sdk. Error: V:\androindinstall\android-sdk-windows\platforms is missing. Error: Unable to parse SDK content. So the basic install setup is not happening. Additional clues: I have a G1 and Android 1.0 was running on this machine. (Almost a year ago) I've updated my G1 to 1.6 so I thought I'd update my SDK before starting new development. When I tried to upgrade it tried and then died as the "directory was in use" So I cleaned out all the android directories, rebooted and redownloaded everythign from scratch. Now it won't run at all. I've clearly got something in an unhappy state, but I've cleaned up all the directories and no remanants seem to be running I've rebooted.... I've missed somethign I just can't figure out what. Paul

• C#/.NET: Process.HasExited returns true even though process is running??

  I have been observing that Process.HasExited sometimes returns true even though the process is still running. My code below starts a process with name "testprogram.exe" and then waits for it to exit. The problem is that sometimes I get thrown the exception; it seems that even though HasExited returns TRUE the process itself is still alive in the system - how can this be?? My program writes to a logfile just before it terminates and thus I need to be absolutely sure that this logfile exists (aka the process has terminated/finished) before reading it.   Hi, I'm programing on C++, I'm using Visual Studio 2008, Windows XP, and I have the following problem: My application, that is a DLL that can be used from Python, loads an external dll, uses the required methods, and then unloads this external Dll. It's working properly, but after more than 1000 cycles the method "LoadLibraryA" returns a NULL reference. The main steps are: HINSTANCE h = NULL; h = LoadLibraryA(dllfile.c_str()); DWORD dw = GetLastError(); The error got is: ERROR_DLL_INIT_FAILED 1114 (0x45A) A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed. The Dll is unloaded by using the following: FreeLibrary(mDLL); mDLL = NULL; Where mDLL is defined like this: HINSTANCE mDLL; First alternative tried: Just load the Dll only once, and unloaded it when the application ends. This fix the problem but introduces a new one. When the application ends, instead of first executing the DllMain method of my applicaion, wich unloads the external DLL, is executing first the DllMain method of the other Dll. This cause the following error because my application is trying to unload a Dll that was unload by itself previously. "Unhandled exception at 0x04a00d07 (DllName.DLL) in Python.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x0000006b". Any suggestion will be welcomed. Thanks in advance. Regards.

  I am attempting to insert a custom behavior into my service client, following the example here. I appear to be following all of the steps, but I am getting a ConfigurationErrorsException. • Visual Studio 2010 Can no longer build .NET v3.5

  I have a 2010 project that is targeting .NET v3.5. Inexplicably I can no longer build v3.5 projects. The project doesn't have ANY references added. It won't even let me add a reference to System.Core as it is added by the 'build system'. warning CS1685: The predefined type 'System.Func' is defined in multiple assemblies in the global alias; using definition from 'c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\mscorlib.dll' IFilter.cs(82,49): error CS0433: The type 'System.Func' exists in both 'c:\Program Files (x86)\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework\v3.5\System.Core.dll' and 'c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\mscorlib.dll' Looks like something is grabbing onto 4.0 but I'm not quite sure how to fix it. Any one else run into this? Coworker had this same issue. It took a reinstall of Windows to correct the problem I've opened a bug on this one: https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/558245/warning-cs1685-when-compiling-a-v3-5-net-application-in-visual-studio-2010 If the compiler is set to verbose I see this: FrameworkPathOverride = C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319 which is defined as: Specifies the location of mscorlib.dll and microsoft.visualbasic.dll. This parameter is equivalent to the /sdkpath switch of the vbc.exe compiler. Some other interesting tidbits: I've created a new project all together and cannot build v3.5 at all. I can build 2.0, 3.0, 3.5 Client Profile, 4.0 and 4.0 Client Profile with no problem. VB.NET can build v3.5 but C# cannot. I've tried a reinstall of .NET 3.5, 4.0 and Visual Studio 2010 with no success. Visual Studio debug logs shown nothing interesting and Safe Mode does not work. Trying to avoid a Windows reinstall...

As first requirement, generated self signed certificate using OpenSSL and added certificate to wallet. The wallet location is specified in server configuration. • Using SSL and SslStream for peer to peer authentication?

  I need to provide secure communication between various processes that are using TCP/IP sockets for communication. I want both authentication and encryption. Rather than re-invent the wheel I would really like to use SSL and the SslStream class and self-signed certificates. What I want to do is validate the remote process's certificate against a known copy in my local application. (There doesn't need to be a certificate authority because I intend for the certificates to be copied around manually). To do this, I want the application to be able to automatically generate a new certifiate the first time it is run. In addition to makecert.exe, it looks like this link shows a way to automatically generate self-signed certificates, so that's a start. I've looked at the AuthenticateAsServer and AuthenticateAsClient methods of SslStream. You can provide call-backs for verification, so it looks like it's possible. But now that I'm into the details of it, I really don't think it's possible to do this. Am I going in the right direction? Is there a better alternative? Has anyone done anything like this before (basically peer-to-peer SSL rather than client-server)?

  I am currently trying to figure out how to get a batch file to run correctly in Windows 7. I have looked on the Internet and have not had much success in finding any useful information on the issue I am encountering. The batch file is to open the workstation for students to use and it looks like it loads but the Welcome/Login Screen never appears as it should. I know it is connecting to the TDMS server as I can see it on the server. The only thing it does not do is bring up the window which is necessary to login to the testing server.
