  Hello all, I am just starting to learn JNI. I have been following a simple example, and I have created a Java app that calls a Hello World method in a native library. I'd like to target Win32 and Linux x86. My library resides in a DLL, and I can call it just fine using LoadLibrary when the DLL is added to the root of my Eclipse project. However, I can't figure out how to get Eclipse to export a runnable JAR that includes the DLL and the .SO file for Linux. So my question is basically; how would you go about creating a project in Eclipse and include several versions of the same native library? Thank you, Martin

• Hardware asset management systems

  I need to track a bunch of specialized testing tools, They are hardware devices used for testing other equipement. Each device has a serial number and is sent out for use in testing. Occasionally they break and have to be sent to the manufacture for repair. I'm looking for an open source application (preferably a webapp) to help manage them. Right now we're using Excel and it's not scaling as we get more tools. They aren't computers so all the standard IT asset management systems don't really fit the bill. I found h-harmony, but that project seems dead?

• SQL Server Agent 2005 job runs but provides no output

  Essentially I have a job which runs in BIDS and as as a stand lone package and while it runs under the SQL Server Agent it doesn't complete properly (no error messages though). The job steps are: 1) Delete all rows from table; 2) Use For each loop to fill up table from Excel spreasheets; 3) Clean up table. I've tried this MS page (steps 1 & 2), didn't see any need to start changing from Server side security. Also SQLServerCentral.com for this page, no resolution. How can I get error logging or a fix?

• How-to build a droplet application in Xcode4?

  In Xcode3 there used to be a template to build "Droplet" Applications (head/nibless apps that would throw whatever dropped at them at an "on open" Applescript method). In Xcode4 this template is unfortunately gone. What are the required steps to setup an xcode4 droplet project? modify the info.plist i guess to make the app handle drops get rid of the nib (also involves changes in main.m and both AppDelegate.h and AppDelegate.m i guess) Maybe somebody even still has Xcode3 installed and could create an empty applescript droplet app and upload it somewhere? that would be very interesting. thanks! (or is there maybe even a way to export an app bundle created with the AppleScript Editor to Xcode?)

  I have a shell script to monitor process due to preventing the process closed. If the process is closed, that script will restart it. BTW, when the system starts, the crontab will run the script automatically. • Add jar to EAR in Eclipse

  I have several projects in an EAR in Eclipse. These projects themselves have dependency jar's on the build path marked as "do not export, do not contribute to others". Now in Eclipse I add jar's to the EAR via the EAR properties "Java EE Module Dependencies". I browse to the jar (add jar) and click ok. The jar is added to the list. When I click apply, the added jar is gone from the list, it cannot be found in other properties, it is contained in the hidden folder .settings in the file org.eclipse.wst.common.component. This behaviour does not make much sense to me, what am I missing?

• IntelliJ: Adding resources to the class path, but still gives me "java.util.MissingResourceException: Can't find bundle.... locale en_US"

  I am quite new to intellij and i have loaded in a project that i wish to compile, everything seems to be going well, but when i compile it. I get the bundle cannot be found. java.util.MissingResourceException: Can't find bundle for base name openfire_i18n, locale en_US at java.util.ResourceBundle.throwMissingResourceException(ResourceBundle.java:1499) After doing some investigation, it appears i have to include the resources in the class path, is this correct? I have done Project Settings, Modules, Dependencies, and i added a "Jars or directories" There is a checkbox that says Export, i have tried clicking it and unclicking it :-) My resources i can see are in i8n\ResourceBundle I tried adding the i8n and it asked me for a category for selected files, i put classes RUN - but still same error.. so i tried adding the i8n/ResourceBundle directory RUN - still same error. I notice under my ResourceBundle directory there are C:\Dev\Java\openfire_src_3_7_1\openfire_src\src\i18n\openfire_i18n_en.properties but there is no specific en_US but i thought it supposed to fallback to EN ?? SO i think everything is ok. Can anyone help I am really stuck Thanks

• Reading correctly alphanumeric fields into R

  A tab-delimited text file, which is actually an export (using bcp) of a database table, is of that form: 102 1 01 e113c 3224.96 12 102 1 01 e185 101127.25 12 102 2 01 e185 176417.90 12 102A 3 01 e185 26261.03 12 I tried to import it in R with a command like data <- read.delim("C:\\test.txt", header = FALSE, sep = "\t") The problem is that the 3rd column which is actually a varchar field (alphanumeric) is mistakenly read as integer (as there are no letters in the entire column) and the leading zeros disappeared. The same thing happened when I imported the data directly from the database, using odbcConnect. Again that column was read as integer. str(data) $ code: int 1 1 1 1 1 1 6 1 1 8 ... How can I import such a dataset in R correctly, so as to be able to safely populate that db table again, after doing some data manipulations?

  Hi, in the Winsock2 library getaddrinfo() and freeaddrinfo() was only added in Windows XP and on. I know how to replace them in legacy systems, but a conditional use depending on the Windows version won't help. The application won't start in 9x with a message saying that it was linked to a missing export in WS2_32.dll. I'm using MinGW to compile and link the code and would like to keep using it. Maybe writing those functions by myself? Thank you very much for everything.

  I've been testing Hudson for a few days now and for PHP projects it seems ok; What I need though is a system that will allow me to publish an SVN tag to an FTP folder without adding a pile of rubbish on the end; hudson gets overexcited and adds a pile of folders to the export. Are their any other decent systems; it needs to be simple to use as this will eventually fall under the control of 'admins' in order to meet sox compliance (aka the man with the gun cant pull the trigger). Basic Requirements: Must be free and downloadable to a server (FTP's internal only here) Needs to be able to interact with SVN Needs to be able to publish to FTP Needs matrix login permissions (or AD if its something that can go on IIS) Needs to be auditable (logging) Tell me if im not being clear enough here; thanks. • javascript return function's data as a file

  I have a function in javascript called "dumpData" which I call from a button on an html page as **onlick="dumpData(dbControl);"* What it does is return an xml file of the settings (to an alert box right now). I want to return it to the user as a file download. Is there a way to create a button when click will open a file download box and ask the user to save or open it? (sorta of like right-clicking and save target as)... Or can it be sent to a php file and use export();? Not sure how I would send a long string like that to php and have it simple send it back as a file download. Dennis

  I'm using Windows 7 on my HP ProBook 4250s. The problem I face is that my system halts for a fraction of second after every 2-3 seconds. These jerks are not letting me concentrate or work properly. This happens even when I'm just typing in notepad while no other application is running. • Crystal report file does not get deployed to server in ASP.NET MVC

  I am using a crystal reports through crystal report viewer server side control in a webform. I am using a webform because the crystal report viewer provides an easy way to export to PDF and to Excel. My problem is that when I deploy to the server, the crystal report .rpt file does not get copied to the target folder. My solution structure looks like this: Solution |-Content |-Controllers |-Models |-Views |-etc... |-Reports |-Default.aspx |-Report.rpt On the server, the Report.rpt file is missing after I publish.

• Viewing Code Coverage Results outside of Visual studio

  I've got some unit tests, and got some code coverage data. Now, I'd like to be able to view that code coverage data outside of visual studio, say in a web browser. But, when I export the code coverage to an xml file, I can't do anything with it. Are there readers out there for this? Do I have to write an xml parser and then display it how I want it (seems like a waste since visual studio already does this.) Seems kinda silly to have to take a screenshot of my code coverage results as my "report" Suggestions?

• Data sync solution?

  For some security issues I'm in an envorinment where third party apps can't access my DB. For this reason I should have some service/tool/script (dunno what yet... i'm open to the best option, still reading to see what I'm gonna do...) which enables me to generate on a regular basis(daily, weekly, monthly) some csv file with all new/modified records for a certain application. I should be able to automate this process and also export at any time a new file. So it should keep track for each application which records he still needs. Each application will need some data in some other format (csv/xls/sql), also some fields will be needed for some application and some aren't... It should be fairly flexible... What is the best option for me? Creating some custom tables for each application? Based on that extracting modified data?

  I have a requirement where I have to set environment variables calling a script file eg:set_env.sh. set_env.sh contains all the environment variables. export SCRIPT_DIR=/e/scripts/ ... when I call the set_env.sh from my code the variables are available in that file itself. • Where is my classpath being set?

  Whenever I open a Bash shell, my classpath is "someProgram". I know that adding an export entry to ".bashrc" changes my classpath, but I want to know where "someProgram" is being added to the classpath (it's not in ".bashrc"). Is there a way to track down where this is being set, or some typical spots I should be checking besides ".bashrc"? Details: I'm using Ubuntu 9.10.   I am trying to set my bash prompt to display the time and current directory in bold: export PS1="\[\e[1m\][\A] \w \$ \[\e[0m\]" This does apparently work, but when I use the command history (ctrl-r), after finding the command I was searching for and pressing enter, this line is not displayed correctly. Here is an example: [21:58] ~/Wyona/svn-repos/zwischengas $ (reverse-i-search)`ta': tail -F logs/log4j-cnode1.log becomes, after pressing enter: [21:58] ~/Wyona/svn-repos/zwischengas $ -F logs/log4j-cnode1.log Of course, this is not "really" a problem, since the command does work correctly, but it is still annoying. Does anybody know why this happens? And, more importantly, how to prevent/fix it? Thanks, Memo

• What's the best way to read/write array contents from/to binary files in C#?

  I would like to read and write the contents of large ( 2GB), raw volume files (e.g. MRI scans). These files are just a sequence of e.g. 32 x 32 x 32 floats so they map well to 1D arrays. I would like to be able to read the contents of the binary volume files into 1D arrays of e.g. float or ushort (depending on the data type of the binary files) and similarly export the arrays back out to the raw volume files. What's the best way to do this with C#? Read/Write them 1 element at a time with BinaryReader/BinaryWriter? Read them piece-wise into byte arrays with FileStream.Read and then do a System.Buffer.BlockCopy between arrays (keeping in mind that I want 2GB arrays)? Write my own Reader/Writer?

• PHP array taking up too much memory

  I have a multidimensional array. The array itself is fine. My problem is that the script takes up monster amounts of memory, and since I'm running this on my MAMP install on my iBook G4, my computer freezes up.   Here's what I'm trying to do using the Wikipedia (MediaWiki) API - http://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php Do a GET on http://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?format=xml&action=opensearch&search=[keyword] to retrieve a list of suggested pages for the keyword Loop through each suggested page using a GET on http://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?format=json&action=query&export&titles=[page title] Extract any paragraphs found on the page into an array Do something with the array I'm stuck on #3. I can see a bunch of JSON data that includes "\n\n" between paragraphs, but for some reason the PHP explode() function doesn't work. Essentially I just want to grab the "meat" of each Wikipedia page (not titles or any formatting, just the content) and break it by paragraph into an array. Any ideas? Thanks!

My hardware specifications for the nebtook: -Be rugged enough to survive a bit of wear and tear -Fairly fast processing (the ability to upgrade from 1GB of RAM to 2GB) -A battery life of longer than 6 hours -At least a 10 inch screen -A decent camera for Skyping My software needs: -Be able run a Spreadsheet program to do basic data input (like Excel or Open Office) -Use the Open Source Statistical Program R to do basic data analysis (Regression, data analysis etc.) -Word Processing (Word or Open Office) Do you have any suggestions on which models or brands my fit my needs?   Hi, I am having a bit of trouble getting my head around the following erlang code -module(threesix). -export([quicksort/1]). quicksort(Pivot, Left, Right, []=_Src) -> {Left, Pivot, Right}; quicksort(Pivot, Left, Right, [H|T]=_Src) when H < Pivot -> quicksort(Pivot, [H|Left], Right, T); quicksort(Pivot, Left, Right, [H|T]=_Src) -> quicksort(Pivot, Left, [H|Right], T). quicksort([]) -> []; quicksort([H|T]=_List) -> {Left, Pivot, Right} = quicksort(H, [], [], T), quicksort(Left) ++ [Pivot] ++ quicksort(Right). I am specifically talking about the use of _Src and _List in the parameters. Are these simply for documentation as I cannot see why they are used? Thanks Paul
