Which features of regular expressions are standard, and which are idiosyncratic ?
What should I do, and not do, if I want to use the same regex in different context, languages, platforms ?
I have several values I'm rendering as elements on my template and I want to further this by having them arranged into equal (or near-equal columns) automatically in the template. How can I achieve this?
So far I'm rendering all the values as
<ul>
{% for feature in features %}
<li>{{ feature }}</li>
{% endfor %}
</ul>
I'm considering writing a console application in C# and I want to incorporate history, completion and command line editing features something like GNU readline (but not necessarily as extensive as that!)
Is there an existing library for .net which provides this type of functionality? I guess one option would be to use interop services to call GNU readline. But is there a native option?
Hi guys,
I know SQL Server 2008 has exposed some features to PowerShell as snapins. Now I want to know whether I can use PowerShell with SQL Server 2005? I guess the answer is NO, right? Thanks.
Question is: Best practices when using LDAP authentication like MS ActiveDirectory but having complex access control rights inside each application. Did you put it all in the LDAP or did you link it with information in the application?
Looking to build this in asp.net mvc 2 and using membership features, so best practice here i guess is that we roll our own custom provider to acomplish this...
I will be creating one website related to jobs, which has almost all the features of monster & naukri. My client just asked to use any sober yet eye-catchy color(s) for that website.
Can anybody please highlight as to what is / are the sober, yet eye-catchy color(s) for these type of websites?
Searching online, I see lots of people asking for features to have multiple levels of sub-tasks, and proper sub-task functionality (like FogBugz). But I don't know if it's planned in future versions, or if plugins exist to provide this functionality.
Does anyone know?
I'm planing to start learning JQuery (among other things), so I'm looking for a good Javascript editor that can preferably provide some of the following features:
Syntax coloring
Contextual help for standard JS functions, JQuery functions and possibly custom ones.
Some code completion.
(optional) JS debugging
Is there such and editor out here? or any that come close to this?

I'm working on a project for school, we use visual studio 2008 there and I use it at home, both are express edition. The project in question I started at school, but I cannot edit it at home, when I open the .sln I get this
"The IntelliSense information will not be available for .VC++ projects because the Intellisense database file Location/Junk.ncb could not be opened for writing.
Other features will also be affected if the solution directory is read-only."
How do I open my project so that I can edit it?

I know very well about the traditional arguments about why Interface Inheritance is prefered to multiple inheritance, there has been already a post here :
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/191691/should-c-include-multiple-inheritance
But according to Stroutroup the real reason why Microsoft and Sun decided to get rid off multiple inheritance is that they have vested interest to do so: instead of putting features in the languages, they put in frameworks so that people then become tied to their platform instead of people having the same capability at a language standard level.
What do you think ?

Currently we are doing a payroll application in Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 (.Net 3.5) using some of the latest features like WCF, WF and the development for the same has almost completed.
However, clients have shown their interest in migrating the developed payroll application in Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 (.Net 3.5) to Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 (.Net 4.0).
I don't have an idea about the expected challenges in the migration or if its just going to be very smooth.
Any thoughts or comments?
Switching from JVM 1.4 to 1.5 has performance benefits as per release notes.
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/relnotes/features.html#performance
We have Java 1.4 compiled classes which are run on 1.5 JVM, will these classes suffer in performance because they were compiled using 1.4 ?

For a large application written in C++ using Visual Studio 6, what is the best way to move into the modern era?
I'd like to take an incremental approach where we slowly move portions of the code and write new features into C# for example and compile that into a library or dll that can be referenced from the legacy application.
Is this possible and what is the best way to do it?
As someone who hasn't followed the C++0x - now C++1x - story and developments closely, I am considering that it is nearing the time when I need to come up to speed with the 'released' version. I also am not really interested in looking over the standard immediately. Therefore:
What resources are there that give the "effective changelog" between language versions?
What books/articles are there that probe into the use of the new features?
(marked as community wiki, if there are other good questions that relate to the transition, put them up)
I have learnt c and c++ programming languages.i have learnt data structure too. Hi all, i have searched Google and also searched Stack Overflow to no avail.
I am looking for a PHP / MySQL driven dynamic image slideshow. One similar to 'lightcyclers.com', i have information stored in the DB and i just want to display random or popular content etc.
I am also not interested in coding one myself as i am busy working on other features.
Any links or help would be much appreciated.
I have the following problem:
I make a custom hosts file to test some features of my application and then push it to my android emulator.
The thing is that these settings do not take effect immediately. I have to wait about 10 minutes before they become active.
So my question is: how to make the new hosts file active instantly? I have many different settings to test and I can't wait 10 minutes every time.
I am looking to build a widget for a site which allows users to tag images from individual frames of a video file but would prefer not to have to build a custom Flash tool. Is there an existing free library or framework which simplifies things like this in a webapplication setting? Features would also involve basic video playback functionality as well as time-driven meta-data and the ability to extract images from individual video frames.
Are there existing open-source web-based tools for video manipulation other than building your own custom Flash app?
I've tried before some Eclipse plugin (I don't remember its name) but it was lacking a lot of features (generics, for example). Is there anything easy to set up that would run on the last version of Java?
Thanks
Do you know a js library that implements a generic Iterator class for collections (be it Arrays or some abstract Enumerable) with a full set of features, like the Google Common or the Apache Commons?
